We had our baby shower at my work yesterday! It was super fun! Also - we got our pack and play and car seat! Everything seems more real when you have a car seat in your house!

Has anyone else had their shower yet? How were they??

@JennyG: thinking of you and wishing you all the best of luck @wrkbrk: I have to pull out all our baby gear from storage, dreading the thought of the mess I will find.

I've been feeling terrible the last few days - nausea, major vomiting in the morning and yesterday I had the worst migraine so far - nothing seemed to help and I was bawling in agony. I was *this* close to calling my OB, but I managed to pass out with two paracetamol tablets and woke up hours later feeling groggy but ok. I have my 30 week appointment today and will discuss it with him. (I think i'm also due for my Anti-D shot and my Whooping Cough vaccine). I can't figure out if i'm having some sort of major hormone surge, but its been migraines every week since about 20 weeks.

@wrkbrk: I had mine this weekend and it was really nice! didn't make it to my shower for A so it was great to have one this time and have everyone together. my family had the cutest decorations and favors and everything and we got some great stuff! anyone else have the keekaroo peanut changing pad? we just got one at the shower and it seems like it will be awesome!

    @JennyG: Thinking of you!!

@littleredhairedgrl: I've had two showers so far, a family one and a friend one. Super fun! My work one is October 2! We got our car seat too! Which did you choose?

@littleredhairedgrl: no we didn't get the keekaroo, but I kinda want one!

Whoohooo passed the glucose tolerance test! Numbers came back perfect, so thankful there is nothing to worry about there. My OB said if the migraines continue that it is ok to take a Mersyndol, and to keep them informed if its unbearable. He suggested to also start taking the magnesium, hoping that helps. Also got my Anti-D injection, dang that thing hurt!! One more to go before baby comes, then another one aftewards.

otherwise, babe looked good! tucked head down, bum up. Midwife noted that babe is feeling low for gestation, so I'm sure my pelvis will be feeling it sooner.

@Finfan: don't worry too much about size, the doctors can be way off with estimates. My friend's baby was in the 90th percentile and she was so nervous about having a large baby, but she ended up being 7lbs.

I reluctantly took my glucose challenge test again yesterday - my original doctor had me take it at 17 weeks and when I passed with a blood glucose level of 74 she let me know it "wasn't the real test" and I'd have to do it again later in the pregnancy.

My new doc called me and let me know I passed it again with a similar low number. Woohoo!

The only problem is as soon as I finished the drink I got the worst heartburn ever and I can't get it to go away! It feels like lava in my stomach and Tums won't touch it - yuck!!

@jennyg: my thoughts and prayers are with you!
@wrkbrk: I'm looking forward to my first baby shower next Saturday!
@MrsGeePerez: and @FannyMae: glad to hear about those great results!

I went in for an emergency check up today after a week of cramping and some weird symptoms (spotting, fairly regular BH contractions, and dizziness)... Turns out baby girl is breech again and is probably kicking me in the cervix, causing the cramping and dizziness. I'm also apparently dehydrated... Contributing to the same symptoms. The good news, cervix was still closed and hard... So no signs of preterm labor. At least I can rest easy this weekend.

I hope you all enjoy your weekends!

Just checking in! Glad to hear everyone is feeling well for the most part. I'm right at 31 weeks and feeling good - other than having to pee constantly, and slight back pain from life with a toddler. My appointments have been quick lately - the last one included my TDAP shot. I still need to pre-register at our hospital; keep forgetting that!

@miss sarah: Can't wait to hear how your first shower goes! Sorry you've had some worrisome symptoms, but that's great that you were able to get it checked out and explained fairly quickly!

In separate news, LO1 (almost 28 months) is still in his crib and has shown no signs of wanting to sleep in his "big boy bed" - a toddler bed that is set up in his room as well. So, LO2 may be relegated to the pack n play for awhile... we shall see! I'm just trying to go with the flow.

Hope everyone enjoys their baby showers!!

@Miss Sarah: Sorry you had such a scare, but glad to hear all is well with the baby and you. Hope you had a restful weekend!

@AggieDaze: Our 26 month old is still in his crib. We have a bassinette to use in our room for the first few months. We'll see what we do after that. A friend gave us an IKEA crib, but we'd have to buy another mattress. Right now, my plan is to get DS a twin bed after the baby is here and move the more solid crib into the baby's room. But that plan changes day to day.

@FannyMae: @peaches1038: Thanks! The weekend was a little rough watching DH and DS continue life without me. I feel so helpless and that I am not doing anything to help my family. I try to just remember that each day I sit here is one more day she gets to be more ready for the world.

@JennyG: makes me feel better! I don't want to rush and deal with toddler sleep issues on top of newborn ones sorry to hear about your bed rest! Hopefully it will help baby to stay put awhile longer. I'm sure it is really hard to feel so useless though with LO1. It's great for your husband to get some extra bonding time though - especially since LO1 will have to rely on him so much after the baby is born!

Just got back from my weekly appointment and there has been no change!!! I'm still 1 cm dilated (turns out you can't undulate), but at least things aren't progressing. I'm still on bedrest and all. 3 more days and I'll be 32 weeks!!

@JennyG: great news!! thinking of you

33wks +2 and went for my weekly cervical check yesterday. i've been around 2.5cm for months now and within one week went down to 1.6cm but they didn't seem to concerned since the cervix naturally shortens beginning around this point in pregnancy and i have the abdominal cerclage. but still freaks me out.. on top of that my mother's helper had to quit due to an issue with her college schedule so now i need to scramble to find someone new (especially since there's a chance i could need to go on bed rest at some point..) sigh.. still so happy to even be at this point, but nervous

@littleredhairedgrl: Ugh! Good luck! Just remember that the vast majority of babies born after 33 weeks are perfectly fine! So however it works out will be ok.

How is everyone feeling? I am ok except for my RIDICULOUS bathroom situation. 4-5 times overnight, and about 16 times total per 24 hour period (yes I did count). It's insanity. I panic if I am going somewhere where I wont have easy access! Siiiiiiiiiigh!

    persimmon / 1135 posts

@wrkbrk: thanks and omg I get up that many times during the night too!! it's insane! but I also chug water thru the night bc I have a constant thirst too.. not to mention the other times I'm getting up to soothe A at night.. urgh!

    pomelo / 5084 posts

@littleredhairedgrl: Oh yes. I have to have water AT ALL TIMES or I freak out. Very odd and inconvenient.

@wrkbrk: Just woke up for the day... Got up 4 times over night to pee. Haha! But other than that, I'd say my waddle is getting ridiculous and I have no idea how my balance will handle getting bigger, lol. I keep losing weight at my doctor's appointments, but they are not concerned because baby girl is growing just fine... In fact, they she was measuring a little ahead yesterday. They just want to make sure I'm getting enough protein in my diet... I really struggle with that.

Heading to my first baby shower today! It's about an hour away with my husband's side of the family. I'm excited to get this party started!

@JennyG: That's great! Every day counts!

@littleredhairedgrl: glad to heAr that the Drs aren't concerned! That is bad timing to gave your mothers helper quit! Hopefully you fi d someone new soon

@wrkbrk: I get up maybe 1-2 times per night, so I guess I should be happy with that! I can't imagine waking up 4 times 😁😁

overall Im Feeling really good! A very little back pain if I sit too long and some burning in my ribs, but other than that, I feel pretty normal. 33 weeks Sunday! Can't believe how fast it's going now!

@Miss Sarah: How was the shower? What did you do? What did you get?

  24. Miss Sarah

    persimmon / 1259 posts

@wrkbrk: Hi there! The shower went so well. It was beautiful and it was lovely spending time with my husband's family. The hostesses had everyone write down advice for me...which made me get teary-eyed. And then the only game we played was a memory game. As for gifts...tons of girl clothes and blankets (probably too many), but it was all cute. I also got lots of little things off my registry and a couple of the bigger items as well. I'm most excited about my Ergo Baby Carrier, video monitor, and a couple of homemade blankets we received!

  25. wrkbrk

    pomelo / 5084 posts

@Miss Sarah: That sounds so fun! YAY for blankets and baby clothes! For some reason, no one has chosen the (many) blankets we have on our registry! Haha. Keep the pieces of advice in your baby book! That's what I did with my work shower.

  26. peaches1038

    nectarine / 2047 posts

@Miss Sarah: That sounds lovely I was pumped when I got my ergo too!!
@wrkbrk: we didn't get any blankets either!! Now I'm not sure which ones to buy!

  27. wrkbrk

    pomelo / 5084 posts

@peaches1038: If it helps - our hippie infant care class instructor (neonatal nurse and certified lactation consultant) said she prefers a fabric OTHER than muslin for swaddling. She said the muslin blankets don't stay tightly wrapped. So I am going to begin the search for something other than that even though we bought a couple A&A swaddle blankets already. The ones we used in the class were almost like a very thin flannel!

@wrkbrk: Thanks for the info! Did she say anything about things like swaddleme or woombies?

  29. wrkbrk

    pomelo / 5084 posts

@peaches1038: She didnt say anything about the pre-made swaddles. However, my friend swears by the woombie so we bought one!

  30. peaches1038

    nectarine / 2047 posts

@wrkbrk: That's good to know! I have one still left on my registry so perhaps I'll buy it! Do you have a lot left to purchase?

  31. wrkbrk

    pomelo / 5084 posts

@peaches1038: Not too much. We had my work shower and have our friend shower this Saturday. I think the only things we will otherwise HAVE to get are the diaper pail and the stroller frame for the Chico car seat!

  32. peaches1038

    nectarine / 2047 posts

@wrkbrk: Lucky! We don't have too much and most of it will be covered by gift cards. But it's definitely more than 2 things! Are you trying to buy things only for the next couple months, or plan ahead and get things for when he starts eating solids, etc?

  33. wrkbrk

    pomelo / 5084 posts

@peaches1038: Exactly - that's why we don't have much to buy - yes, we stopped planning at the end of my maternity leave (12 weeks). HA. Then we will need to investigate utensils, high chairs, a different stroller that wont work with the car seat, etc. Today Buy Buy Baby tells me is 50 days out!! And you are even closer, aren't you?? ACK!

  34. peaches1038

    nectarine / 2047 posts

@wrkbrk: Gotcha! That plan will work out nicely so you can see what you and he likes before buying too much. Yup 47 DAYS! Crazy town.

  35. JennyG

@Miss Sarah: I'm glad you got such great stuff at your shower.

For what its worth, my son HATED all types of swaddle wraps. I had bought a bunch of different kinds at a consignment sale, and he would not sleep with any of them. He slept best swaddled in A&A blanket and flannel receiving blanket. Basically, babies end up liking all kinds of different things so if you buy multiples of something, don't take the tags of everything in case you end up needing to return it.

  36. peaches1038

@JennyG: Thanks for the tip! I'm only going to buy one and see if he likes it. I've heard too many stories like yours!

@Miss Sarah: Yep. At least a couple nights a week for the past few. And on nights I can sleep, I often wake up with terrible leg cramps that won't release for minutes.

@Miss Sarah: 3.30 am - automatic internal alarm clock says howdy doody. Then I can't get back to sleep and DD wakes up at some ridiculous hour asking to do arts & crafts (its 6.15 am, no way kid).

  40. JennyG

    clementine / 912 posts

@Miss Sarah: I can usually get to sleep, but I'm awake like clockwork at 5:00.

I go back for another appointment today and hope there's no change from last week. The little lady was breech last week, but I think she may have flipped a few days ago. Fingers crossed.
