    @peaches1038: I feel all kinds of cramping - ha. But nothing that comes and goes. Doctor tomorrow ... I am telling myself one way or another this baby will be here by Thanksgiving and that's pretty soon!

    You?

    @wrkbrk: I had to wear my husband's shoes to walk the dog today. Size 13!!! I was an 8 before this pregnancy. curious to see what size my feet will end up after baby is here.

    @wrkbrk: Cramps here, too! Very sporadic braxton hicks... Hoping for some progress this week! My next appointment isn't until Friday. Though the midwife at the hospital said I should call if I want to schedule my appointment sooner this week since I had that fall on Friday... Thinking about it.

    @Finfan: My feet are MASSIVE! I can't find shoes that fit. I squeezed into my toms for church today, but when I can home... Holy sausage feet! Oww....

    The countdown is really on! My blood pressure is jumping up now (had been creeping up slowly for awhile) so my OB doesn't feel its safe to leave baby in beyond 39 weeks. I have an induction scheduled for 11/12 unless something forces me to go earlier (fingers crossed for 39 weeks).

    @Finfan: Did you stay up any shoe sizes after LO1?

    So I had my 38 week appointment today (a few days early) and the OB said I am not dilated, but I am 60% effaced!!

    I think this is good?!! Someone at work told me effacement is a better indication of progress than dilation but I don't really know if thats true. Of course I didn't think to ask the doctor!

    Anyone experience a similar report?

    @Miss Sarah: Ah! That's my due date, too! I have my first check tomorrow. I'd like to make it at least another few weeks!

  19. Finfan

    @clover: yes, I was a 7/7.5 before LO and ended up a solid 8.

    I had my 39-week appointment this morning (38w6d)I started having small contractions last night after dinner and they kept up most of today as well. I was about 1.5-2 cm dilated at the appointment. Contractions have really picked up since about 8 pm-- getting painful. This might be it?

    @Finfan: Ahhhhhh! I hope so! I'll be thinking about you.

    @wrkbrk: wow! That's great!! I'm not sure if effacement vs dilation is any indication of how soon your LO will be here, but it's definitely progress! You're making me want to get checked on Thursday!!
    @clover: so soon!! Hope your BP stays good though!
    @Finfan: omg!! Good luck!

    @Miss Sarah: Exciting and a little terrifying!

    @wrkbrk: Thanks! And I have no clue what is the more important indicator but my OB mentioned that FTM efface before dilating then STM tend to start dilating before effacing too much. I do know a lot of people talk about being effaced/dilated for many weeks before labor so to me it just makes me happy my body is doing anything

    @Finfan: Oh my, good luck!!

    @peaches1038: Thank you!

    @clover: @wrkbrk: did it hurt to get checked?

  27. wrkbrk

    pomelo / 5084 posts

    @peaches1038: just a little. But it was not even 10 seconds. I like having the info even if it doesn't mean anything

    @peaches1038: Its definitely uncomfortable but I wouldn't call the prenatal checks painful. When I was in labor with DS some of the residents who checked me were much more aggressive than others and I would absolutely call those times as painful.

    Just got back from my first weekly appointment. 1cm dilated, 50% effaced, and baby has dropped. The did a growth ultrasound and estimate 5lbs 12oz. The doctor said anytime, but if she had to guess that we're probably a few weeks out!

    persimmon / 1259 posts

    @Hoots: Yay progress! Sounds like great stats for where you are. Lucky baby has dropped. My due date is just over two weeks out and she's still hanging out pretty high. I'm feeling less optimistic she'll come early. But I guess she'll come when she's ready.

    @Hoots: sounds good! I have my 37 week appt on Friday, I'm not sure if I will be examined for dilation though as my OB didn't do it with my first pregnancy until I was in labour. He just has a look on the ultrasound, last appointment the baby was quite low.

    Anyone else started counting down in days? 23 days for me, that sounds much sooner than 3 weeks!!

  34. Hoots

    kiwi / 673 posts

    @FannyMae: I've been counting since last week!

    @Miss Sarah: My doc said that it was a good sign, but that with a FTM that nothing was predictable. Hoping that your LO drops soon!

    nectarine / 2047 posts

    @clover: Thank you! We will see if my midwife offers

    @Hoots: I agree! Those stats sound great I don't think my guy has dropped yet- did you feel a difference?

    @FannyMae: 11 days for me! (I'm not counting today!!) but as a FTM, I have a feeling he will be late

    @peaches1038: The only thing I noticed was that last week I started feeling more movement slightly lower than it had been and could eat a full meal again. The heartburn hasn't let up at all though; I was really hoping it would.

    No activity on this board for two days?! How's everyone doing?

    I am swelling insanely... Holy cankles! And though it doesn't necessarily look like baby has "dropped," I can feel more pressure lower now. I just want to make it another week and then I'd be feeling pretty ready. I'm already soooooo tired and waddling like crazy, so I am definitely almost to the SO-READY-FOR-THIS-PREGNANCY-TO-BE-OVER stage.

    nectarine / 2047 posts

    @Hoots: gotcha. Thanks for the info. I can definitely eat more than I have been, but I still feel like my bump is sitting high.

    @Miss Sarah: I'm feeling good, but definitely more drained. I'm hoping to work until the end but I have a pretty physical job and am feeling worn down. No swelling here, but more and more back pain. I don't think I've been feeling any Braxton-hicks so I'm getting worried I'll be going past my due date. The not knowing is killing me! Hopefully ours babies get it together and come soon!!

    I feel like I've been off HB for so long. While I was on bed rest, I was making myself crazy on pregnancy related websites, so I avoided for my own sanity.

    I was officially released from bed rest last Saturday. At my appointment last week I was 3 cm dilated and 75% effaced. The pressure has been so intense and painful this past week, I thought I would be a lot further along. Today I was 4 cm. The doctor told me that she can't believe I'm still pregnant and it could be anytime. She told me to call when contractions are 7-8 minutes apart since things will most likely go quickly. Luckily we only live a few minutes away so we should be ok.

    @Miss Sarah: I haven't had much swelling, but the pressure is crazy intense. My belly has definitely dropped. It was the first thing my sister said when she saw me yesterday.

    @peaches1038: I know what you mean about the not knowing. I don't really mind waiting, but I just wish I knew when she was coming.

    I just had my 37 week appointment, feeling so tired and drained this weel. Measuring 39 weeks (eeek!) midwife thinks im about 3-4cm dilated, and babe has also dropped since my last appointment 2 weeks ago. Having mild contractions every few hours or so, but nothing to write home about. The braxton hicks are the ones i'm finding to be much more annoying!
