@Beebeeholiday: I still have raging nausea (12 weeks today) and expect to for another 6-8 weeks, based on my previous pregnancies I always forget how awful it is. Iād love to get some exercise in, but right now Iām just trying to survive. I also need some maternity clothes, but mostly just summer stuff (shorts, etc)...Iām still in my regular pants and jeans but I know the day is coming 𤣠I am starting to feel little baby flutters though, which is awesome!

@Beebeeholiday: Iām feeling ok, still massively tired, and Iāve started getting terrible headaches, but at least my nausea is basically gone. Iām so jealous that youāre able to work out. By the time I get home from work Iām so beat that taking the dog for a 20-30 minute walk is about all I can handle. I would love to still be running! In terms of maternity clothes, I also need to shop (and would love recommendations) given that this is potentially my first time making it to the second trimesterāIāll be 13 weeks on Friday. Iāve just started using a belly band/hair band for work pants this week, so I might start looking soon.
In other news, the doctor on call at my OB yesterday wanted to only do one or the other in terms of a redraw for the NIPT or an ultrasound/blood test screen. Since she was saying theyāve seen about a 10% failure rate on redraws, I chose the ultrasound since it will def give us an answer even if itās a risk pool instead of a yes/no. Iād really like to avoid an amnio because it feels like all of the rare, this can happen but it usually doesnāt, bad stuff has been happening to us. So if weāre low risk on the ultrascreen, which is the more likely outcome, we wonāt do one vs. 10-30% chance of repeat Qnatal failure (I saw 30% or more in small studies online) which would mean definitely doing an amnio and taking on the additional risk of miscarriage.

@karenbme: that sounds like a good plan! when is your NT screen going to be?
@Beebeeholiday: i'm feeling pretty good, nausea is almost all gone and i'm definitely feeling an appetite, but also pretty proud of sticking to a healthy diet so far. i am still banned from exercise because of my SCH, but if the trend continues, friday will be two straight weeks of no spotting. i have a dr's appt friday so i'm reeeeeally hoping i get the all-clear to go back to exercising and finally get off pelvic rest! i really think working out, even though i'm sure i'll be doing it gingerly, will help me with my energy levels and productivity.
one maternity wear tip is that stitch fix does a maternity-specific box. i did it with my first pregnancy and got some of my favorite pieces from some random brands that i wouldn't even know where to find. i definitely recommend it--you can always just return everything if you don't like it or don't like the price!

@bees_knees: so so sorry you still have so much nausea. ugh. really hope it tapers out earlier for you this time!
how's everyone doing on names? i think we actually landed on one. the last two pregnancies we had little fruit nicknames for the babes that we used until they were born, but this time i've immediately started thinking of the baby as his name. it's kind of fun! just hoping DH doesn't swoop in and suddenly decide we need to revisit it at the 11th hour, which is his tendency

@nwm: We are 95% sure about first and middle for a girl and 100% sure on first for a boy. No agreement at all on a middle for a boy.

@nwm: If it's a girl, we have lots of ideas. If it's a boy.... then we are totally and completely stumped.
persimmon / 1419 posts
@nwm: The ultrasound will be Friday, and hopefully we'll get the full result then, but it might take up to a week to know the full result depending on how quickly the blood test results are ready. I have to say I'm not upset about doing another ultrasound, the more opportunity to check in the better. If we get that far it will be my first ever over the belly ultrasound, which will be a little crazy. We haven't really been talking names yet, both of us are holding our breath still. We've always picked a silly name (ex. Pterodactyl) to refer to the baby at this stage, and for this one it's Seamus (because we found out on St. Patrick's Day). We picked Iris for a girl a long time ago, and both seem on board with that still.

Had my NT scan. Everything looked GREAT.
My OB said it was a āperfect, beautiful scan.ā They were able to take a super clear measurement where they needed to and everything on the baby looked as it should. My SCHs (I had two) are gone, and babyās heart rate was 155.
My OB took a peek herself for sex, but the umbilical cord was in the way. She moved around and kind of shook me trying to see if anything would āpop out,ā but nada. She said itās her āeducated guess,ā that itās a girl, because she saw no sign of a penis. However, itās still early and she said although sheās āfairly confidentā that itās a girl, I shouldnāt run out and announce just yet.

@Beebeeholiday: Thatās fantastic! Great news about the SCHs. Four girls is kind of crazy, but Iām sure youād have plenty of hand me downs

@Beebeeholiday: congrats on the great NT scan! Can they really tell the sex by ultrasound already?! I thought everything looked pretty much the same (minus the ānub theoryā) right now haha.
@karenbme: glad you have a plan! Friday isnāt very far away!
@nwm: we have a handle of names. I donāt think weāll get serious until itās closer to D Day Feels weird to be finally talking about GIRL names haha

@bees_knees: they can! At least at my maternal fetal medicine office. I found out the last 3 times at 13 weeks.

Had my 12 week appointment this morning, and everything looked great. Baby was moving too much for a clear heartbeat on doppler, but had a quick ultrasound and saw a nice heartbeat and an active baby. The doctor also thought that the amount of fluid in the nuchal fold looked totally normal, so she expects that we'll get a good result on Friday.

@bees_knees: I just noticed that you have THREE BOYS and your fourth will be your first girl. Now THAT is exciting. How do you feel about that? Were you thinking you'd end up with 4 of the same?
persimmon / 1064 posts
@karenbme: yay!! Glad everything is looking perfect!
@Beebeeholiday: yeah we were shocked! But I am so excited, I was secretly hoping for a girl! I love my boys (obviously!) and I love being a boy mom, but Iām glad Iāll get to experience raising a girl as well!
Pregnancy brain, itās SO REAL! Locked my keys in the house today (luckily was able to break back in). Left the jelly in the cabinet yesterday. I threw something away the other day that was NOT garbage š¤¦āāļø Ugh.

@Beebeeholiday: @karenbme: hooray for wonderful appointments and healthy babies!
I got back my NIPT results, and all looks good, thank goodness! I also had a 12 week appointment and ultrasound a few days ago, so I finally feel like this is real and likely to work out! The baby was SO wiggly, just flipping and swimming around in there! We scheduled the anatomy scan with the MFM for 7/10.
@Beebeeholiday: I donāt feel sick, but I do still feel tired. I could use some of that supposed second tri energy!

@bees_knees: If it makes you feel better, yesterday I set my phone down on the floorboard of the car while I buckled DS and then slammed the door on it.
persimmon / 1064 posts
@rattles: oh noooo! Was your phone a goner? Congrats on the healthy NIPT results! I forget, are you team green or did you find out the sex?! Iām also still exhausted. Iāve been napping every day and go to bed as soon as the boys are in bed. But also, the nausea is so bad I just want to go to sleep so it goes away
persimmon / 1419 posts
@rattles: @bees_knees: Oh no to both of you! If it makes you feel any better I couldn't remember the term "last night" the other day and wound up saying "last day, but not daytime." Pregnancy brain is real.

@rattles: Also congrats on the good results! I'm also starting to feel like this is for real.
grapefruit / 4903 posts
@karenbme: haha, that is awesome
@bees_knees: I totally smashed the screen to pieces. DH is traveling for work, so Iām solo with my 3 until he gets back Friday, then we leave for two weeks Saturday. So I got it fixed but spent an hour and a half at the phone store with all of my kids. Suboptimal I want to find out but DH is on the fence. Weāve got the results in an envelope for now. Iād really like DS to have a brother, but for some reason, my first thought when I got the positive test was, āitās a girl.ā So weāll see!
persimmon / 1064 posts
@rattles: uggggh I bet the phone repair wasnāt cheap, either! I canāt believe you have it in an envelope and havenāt peeked! You have more self restraint than I do!

@bees_knees: we had insurance, so it was only $29, thank goodness. We were TG the first two pregnancies, so I donāt mind not knowing, especially this early. I want to know to move forward with logistics, but especially since this is the last weāre planning, Iām enjoying the what-if daydreams either way for now. I think DH will come around and weāll look soon enough!

I forgot to add--my blood pressure was already starting to creep at my appointment on Tuesday.
backstory: I was induced for pre-eclampsia with my first, after being on bed rest due to high blood pressure for TWENTY WEEKS (yes. 20.). With my second, I didn't develop pre-E, but I was on blood pressure medication my entire pregnancy. With my third, I was in the clear. I thought that this time, things would be okay again, especially since I am in the best shape of my life. But nope. It's already starting to jump up. It makes me nervous, as I really can't be on limited activity with 3 kids at home.
Does anyone else have blood pressure concerns?
persimmon / 1419 posts
@Beebeeholiday: I do. I haven't had blood pressure issues in the past, but pre-e runs in my family. My mom was on bed rest from 30 weeks with my older sister and induced at 34, and she was induced at 36 with me. Her sister also had it with her two pregnancies. According to my OB, if I were the first pregnancy where she was on bed rest and then induced pre-term I would have a much higher chance of having pre-e myself, but I'm still high risk. Sorry yours seems to be coming back. Incidentally, yesterday was the first time my blood pressure was normal at the OB (it's normal everywhere else, but the OB's office is a stressful place for me). So my fingers are crossed that from here on out it will be normal.
persimmon / 1130 posts
@Beebeeholiday: Yikes, super scary. I hope youāre able to make it through without problems this time.
I had high BP the last couple of months with my first pregnancy. It never developed into pre-e, but I was monitored closely. I was okay with my second. Weāll see how this one goes.
@karenbme: I had no idea there was such a strong genetic component to pre-e!
grape / 75 posts
@Beebeeholiday: @karenbme: @rattles: Big congratulations on great looking scans and/or NIPT results!
@Beebeeholiday: I'm sorry your BP isn't behaving itself, will you have to go back on medication for it?
I sort of had issues last time, I was high risk for pre-e, though thankfully it never eventuated. But weeks 20-30 my blood pressure was jumping up super high randomly which was nerve wracking, so I was closely monitored. My readings have been normal (so far) this time around.
I swear, this kid is doing constant cartwheels in-utero! I had an anterior placenta last time which muffled so much movement, I have no idea if DD was this active too. Anatomy scan is Tuesday next week, fingers crossed for a clear view of the sex!

Had my NT scan this morning and everything came back low risk for trisomy/downs. Baby was jumping around on the ultrasound and waving to the camera. It was all really good.

@Beebeeholiday: How did you do 20 weeks on bed rest?!?! Hopefully your BP starts to behave.
@Umberto: Good luck with your anatomy scan!
@karenbme: Congrats on a good NT scan. What a relief!

I am feeling some movement now. Yay!
Fetal echo scheduled June 17 and anatomy June 19. I am equal parts excited and terrified!
Anyone have plans for the long weekend? I have to clean the house for DS's party next weekend, but I am hoping to take at least DD to the amusement park for a little because tired 3.5 y/o = happy mama. Or maybe I will just go by myself and just keep doing loops on the lazy river in the water park

@rattles: @karenbme: congrats on the great results! yay!!
went in for my appointment today. the doc couldn't find the heartbeat on the doppler so there were a few scary minutes there but they pulled up the ultrasound machine and the heartbeat was loud and strong even though my spotting has stopped, the doc basically said i need to stay on pelvic rest and no exercise since my SCH is so big and hadn't resolved as of the NT scan. i know all that matters is baby is safe and happy but i have to admit i'm struggling a little with still being restricted, even though i know i'm being self-indulgent. it just feels suboptimal to have drinking, sex, and exercise all taken away in one go
it also makes me a little nervous that they're so worried about it even though i know they're just being cautious--my doc basically stated it was a very big SCH so she's being extra careful. i go in for another scan in 2 weeks so i'm just really hoping it's resolved by then.
@Umberto: @Ms. RV: so jealous of all the movement! hoping to feel some soon!
@Beebeeholiday: sorry to hear your BP is jumping!! hope maybe they can just restart the medication and get it back under control.
hope you all have great long weekends! @Ms. RV: i'm taking DS1 to my college reunion b/c i'm also looking to exhaust him hoping he'll spend a good chunk of the weekend with his older cousins to similar effect!
persimmon / 1419 posts
@nwm: Sorry to hear your SCH hasnāt resolved yet. It does seem unfair that all of that is off the table for you for so long. Youāre right that the doctors are probably being extra cautious, so hopefully youāre able to not worry too much.
@Umberto: @Ms. RV: So jealous of you all feeling movement. I might have felt something last night, but it also mightāve just been gas.
Weāre going down to my dadās cabin for the day on Sunday to share some pictures from the ultrasound today. My brother will be there and possibly my aunt and uncle so weāll probably start telling people for real.

Ack. We need to switch DS out of his bucket seat this weekend because he turns 1 a week from today and it doesn't look like I can fit three across in my current vehicle with a bucket So looks like I will probably be shopping for a new vehicle this summer.
pear / 1930 posts
"Crisis" adverted We went to Target and Walmart and measured so many car seats. A Graco Slimfit convertible, Chicco MyFit booster, and Chicco KeyFit bucket should fit three across in my car. I am hoping my current Graco bucket will fit to but I won't worry about the bucket or a new seat for DD until like October. But DS better not have a growth spurt between now and Monday when the seat comes
grape / 75 posts
@karenbme: Yay for a great scan!
@nwm: Sorry to hear the SCH is still hanging around. I don't know much about them, is it likely to be an issue all through pregnancy, or do most resolve by themselves? Can they cause issues come delivery time?
It's good your doc is being cautious, but I definitely understand why you'd feel a bit frustrated or trapped by so many things being off-limits. The joys of pregnancy!
@Ms. RV: Glad you avoided the car crisis, vehicle shopping can be such a pain in the butt! I assume you're in a 5 seater now, are you tempted to go up to 7 seats eventually?
