@Beebug: We dated 2.5 years before getting engaged, we were engaged for 6 months and will be married for a year November 30th. We moved intogether after dating 6 months.
@mrskc: I haven't really had any swelling thank god. I hear it is super uncomfortable.
@hilsy85: I'm sitting here in my pj's I'm refusing to get dressed unless I have to leave the house.

@Beebug: jeealllouuusssss.... sitting (uncomfortably) in my office wishing I was either outside or home on my couch! 3 more weeks of work and I'm done!

@Beebug: sounds awesome:) I'm taking y first bubble bath since getting pregnant. I just majorly cleaned the house from top to bottom so I deserved it;) and "a baby story" is recording on my dvr...maybe that's next on my list after my bath!

I have not taken a bath since wellllll before being pregnant! Are we still to ensure we don't get too hot if we have a bath? I feel like there are some times I would really love a bath! We've been here 2 1/2 years in this house that I paid to have upgraded tubs (deeper!) yet have had all of two baths? Silly.
The birthing class people called this aft and I was SO hoping they were cancelling on tonight, I am so tired! They were just reminding me of breastfeeding class Thursday night, which was good because I totally forgot and have to find someone to come with me as DH will be on a plane.....hmmm, who on earth would want to come, Mom has a work event. I am thinking it will be my sister, and strangely she will want to come, lol.

Lazy dinner Monday? Grilled cheese and chicken noodle soup, we eat really well pretty much all the time, but I am so excited for this simple dins!
Crocheting got hard.....I am following right handed tutorials and must be left handed at this, I write right, but do pretty much everything else left handed, but sometimes am just so bad with either side or just can't tell when learning something what should be the "lead" side.....so I think that is hindering my learning.....what I am telling myself anyways!

@Beebug: lol about taking your sister to your bf class...I laugh because my sister would rather die. She is 19 and couldn't care less. Regarding dinner: we're doing hamburger helper night. It's awesome because DH loves it and it's so easy on me.
coconut / 8681 posts
@Beebug: Haha my sister would want to come too At our BF class there were 3 pregnant women who came by themselves and it wasn't weird at all though so if it comes to that it won't be horrible!
We're picking up subs from our favorite place for dinner. After the lack of sleep last night I'm not up for anything else and we're planning on picking up the last stuff for the hospital bags!

Ohh... I can't keep up during the day with you ladies!!! Work is so crazy trying to get stuff done before I go out!
DH & I date started dating in June 2005 and got engaged in March 2009, married October 3, 2009. So our 3 year anniversary is right around the corner!!! If baby doesn't come before then, we're going to do a dinner at a nice restaurant :o)
I've had swollen ankles since Thursday. They look like giant elephant ankles. So sad. I've been having a LOT of pressure down low and on my bladder.
Can't wait to see how the appointments go tomorrow! I go on Wednesday @ 130 east coast time. Woohoo!!!

@CarrieLouWho: omgosh you just reminded me that I have an appointment tomorrow!!! I look forward to it all week and now: the night before, I forgot!
Gona shower and get to bed even though DH and I walked and now I'm kinda wired:(

@Beebug: We got engaged on the one year anniversary from when we met, we bought a house/moved in together after 8 months of dating, were engaged for 8 months and then married. Celebrated a year in May. We were a quick romance, but we both just knew it was right from the first month!

@Running Elley: There is hope, my baby has dropped and is very low (she could feel her head at my last appointment) but I"m still having killer heartburn! Last night it woke me up at midnight causing me to chock, ugh I hate those nights! You might have more progress than you think!

Ugh so my bad allergies turned into a bad cold I feel so crappy right now! Barely could eat any of our fun anniversary dinner, boo. And I kept poor DH up all night with my coughing and nose blowing. not fun!
Seems like a bunch of us have doctor's appointments today! I'll definitely update when I get home, although I'm not anticipating any progress if she even does an internal.
honeydew / 7235 posts
@hilsy85: yes! def update from everyone!
my 36 week appointment is tomorrow morning and she told me we'd be doing an internal... even though I'm only 36 weeks I'm semi-hoping for a little progress of some kind!

@hilsy85: Happy belated anniversary - but I'm so sorry you couldn't enjoy it! You'll be getting a heck of a gift soon though! And next year, you'll have a babysitter and you can celebrate appropriately. Our third anniversary s is a week from tomorrow, and I'm totally content to veg on the couch in sweats and eat pizza. Which we may do! We're thinking of going out this weekend to celebrate early, but I'm not feeling like it...but will try to suck it up for DH.
@CarrieLouWho: Same anniversary!! We may have had this discussion on WB (Lotam).
Good luck at all of your appointments. Mine isn't until Monday (36 weeks)...it's like that's when the final strecth starts for me. We did SO much work on the nursery last night. DH put our whale decals on the wall, and they look awesome. It's still kind of organized chaos, but we're getting there.

Good luck to all the ladies with appointments today. Mine is not until Friday. I will be 37w5d then so I'm hoping my cervix has effaced a good amount.

@TurtleDoves: My sister is 18, but for some reason realllly interested in the birthing/baby stuff......she wants to be in the room when the baby is born....uhhh no, but hilarious she wants to! I think I may just go to bf class alone, I will just say my DH is out West and my replacement partner cancelled last minute, plead ignorance, lol.
Birthing class last night, oh lord I am giving them course feedback or if there's a course evaluation form, what an earful will be coming from me! How 10 couples pay $150 for the course than runs time slots a week (so $150 x 10 x 6 =$9000 a month essentially?) and we are in some crummy basement hospital room with only a women's washroom the men have to use, a DVD player that skipped through the video last night and she uses laminated poster board and just old, old dated stuff, it was REALLY frustrating last night! I work at the university just up and down the road from them and with the partnerships we have with them for practicum's I don't see how we can't let them use a classroom, free parking (as opposed to $16 at the hospital each time) and then at least the room is more up to date, the technology works, and professional looking. Anyways! Ranting over, lol....I have no patience for inefficiencies, lol. 2nd half of class was GREAT, sat there and the instructor was like "it's 2am, contractions are 20 minutes apart, what do you do" and just went through all types of scenarios! Even though we knew it all in class, being "put" in the scenario like that made a difference and we worked through the scenarios as a group, really awesome, super helpful!
1:45 appt, will see how things go!!

@Beebug: There were a few solo women in our BFing class too, and it was totally fine. Even though DH didn't mind being there, I don't think he felt like he needed to be. Your dinner sounds terrific! Dinner is already done for tonight - I have a chicken tortilla soup in the crockpot at home right now. So easy.

@hilsy85: so sorry to hear you are sick...I can't imagine with being so pregnant and being sick too:( Get well soon:) @hellobeeboston: I hope you have progress! I was semi-depressed and defeated at my 36w when I was only 25% effaced but I quickly realized "dude-I'm only 36w; I have 28 days to get to 100%!"
@Tidybee: great job getting to that nursery last night:) although ours has been done, I had to go in there and dust and vacuum just because our heat tends to make our rooms very stuffy...especially since that nursery door is shut all the time.
@Mrs.B: friday is still very soon! Hopefully that far along, you'll get to hear some good news.
So, seeing as we pretty much ALL? have appointments today, I was thinking of a little game. Put down your appointment date & time and your questions! That way we can borrow from eachother's questions and learn from the answers we get too.
Here I go :
Appointment date/time: today! @ 2
How far along: am 364d
Internal? Yes. 2nd one. was 1cm & 25% at last
Questions for doctor:
1- can I have a membrane sweep today?
2- at what point do we start talking induction?
3- my skin is itchy---is there anything else I can do to rush this labor because I am getting bumps, rashes and discoloration all over from the itch.
Those are my questions( one is obviously exclusive to my situation haha)
pomegranate / 3917 posts
I need to meal plan for the rest of the week, only have DH two more night's, but will plan until Monday next week, Tuesday next week is a Costco trip......dangerous!!! But awesome!

@TurtleDoves:
Appointment date/time: Thursday at 2:50 pm Central
How far along: 38 3 d today (will be 38 5 d at my appt)
Internal? Yes. 2nd one. I was a fingertip dialated, 75% effaced
Questions for doctor:
1- can I have a membrane sweep today?
2- What can I expect on Monday at my induction?
3- What are the chances the hospital will be full and my induction will be pushed back?
4- Anything additional I can do to prepare for Monday?
Those are my questions( most are obviously exclusive to my situation too!)

@hilsy85: Hope you feel better soon! It's no fun being sick and preggo.
Exactly one month until my due date!
@TurtleDoves: Ok, I'll play along! I have an appt. tomorrow morning.
Appointment date/time: Wed (tomorrow) @ 8:10 am pacific
How far along: 35w5d (35w6d for my appt)
Internal? Have no clue if they're going to do strep B or do it next week. I guess I'll find out tomorrow.
Questions for doctor:
I'm seeing nurse practitioner tomorrow, so I'm holding off on all my Q's until my 37 week appt. when I see my doc. But at 37 weeks, I plan to go over birth plan. Go over things like will intermittent monitoring be ok during labor instead of being confined to a bed with constant fetal monitoring.
persimmon / 1408 posts
Appointment date/time: Wednesday at 1:30 Eastern
How far along: 38w3d today (will be 38w4d at my appt)
Internal? Yes. 3rd one. I was a 2-3 cm dialated, 60% effaced
Questions for doctor:
1- Can we keep her in for about another week? (Just kidding... kind of)
2 - When would we set the date for an induction?
3- Anything additional I can do to prepare?
4 - My ankles are starting to swell - any cause for concern?
I don't really have any questions... does anyone else feel like a ticking time bomb?
honeydew / 7235 posts
Appointment date/time: Wednesday (9/26) at 8:15am (EST)
How far along: 36w
Internal? Yes. 1st one. not sure if they'll do strep b test
Questions for doctor:
1- Want to talk more about when to call, and WHO to call when I start feeling contractions, etc - more about what to do when I think I'm in labor....
2 - Want to ask about the fact that i'm feeling more pain/pressure & cramping down low - assuming it's because he's getting so big & hopefully moving down
3 - Wondering if we will get an u/s or do anything new to guess/measure at size of baby
4 - Want to ask about rythmic baby movements, NOT hiccups - this is new in the last few days, I read online it was the baby practice breathing, but want to hear more from Doc
5 - And finally I want to ask her about my gluten free diet and if they'll have food for me when I'm in the hospital! I just thought of this the other day, I might need to pack my own food, but who knows.
SOOOO curious to see if there is anything happening, although I know I'm only 36 weeks.
coconut / 8681 posts
Just got back from my appt!!! So I'll add the answers to my questions on the survey thingy
Appointment date/time: Tuesday at 9:15 PST
How far along: 36w6d
Internal? Yes I had one! I was 2.5cm dialated and 80% effaced!!
Questions for doctor:
1. How soon can we talk induction? He said that my cervix is almost completely thinned so I'm VERY inducable. He doesn't see me making it to that point but he'll consider it at 39 weeks. He emphasized the fact that he can almost guarantee I won't make it to term.
2. Can he confirm baby is head down? He could feel baby's head when he did my cervix check so he was positive that little boy is head down and very engaged.
3. Any idea on baby's size? He said that he feels about average to him...wouldn't guess further on his size.
Eeeeee OB said that he's having my records sent to the hospital so they're ready!
GOLD / wonderful olive / 19030 posts
@Running Elley: WOW!!!! So close, it could be anytime for you and you are almost full term so no worries, so exciting!
persimmon / 1408 posts
YAY @RunningElley!!! That's great news!!!
I thought of another question for you ladies to add - What station are you at. I didn't ask at my first, but at my 2nd I was -1. It goes from -4 to + 4 (delivered). So that's another way to measure your progress if you have dialated or effaced too much. They told us in our birthing class to always ask about station b/c it may show progress when other signs aren't progressing!
coconut / 8475 posts
@Running Elley: HOLY SMOKES girl!!! You're soooo close! That's super exciting:)
I am sitting here naked from the waist down waiting on my doc:/ let you know how it goes:)
honeydew / 7235 posts
@Running Elley: Woo hoo!! that is so exciting!! I can't believe you're 2.5 already! that is fantastic! Yeah, can't see you going to 40 weeks with that progress, but what do I know... YAY!
honeydew / 7235 posts
@CarrieLouWho: good call about the station question! we learned about that in class also!
bananas / 9357 posts
@Running Elley: Woohoo! You're totally going to go into labor before 40 weeks.
coconut / 8681 posts
@jessiejo17: @CarrieLouWho: @TurtleDoves: @hellobeeboston: @Mrs.B: Thanks girls!!!! I'm so excited. Now I'm just worried that I'll be all excited and ready to go every day and then he'll still just sit there and wait a while As soon as I get home from work tonight I'm going to do some last minute cleaning and then WALK.
Can't wait to hear everyone else's appt updates!
persimmon / 1408 posts
@RunningElley - I FEEL THE SAME WAY! After my appointment last week making so much progress I got so freaked out that she would be coming any time (and I wanted her to wait)!
Now I'm worried that I'll go in tomorrow and have no progress from last week and I'll end up going past my due date... haha! What are we going to do??? Not much since these little ones are going to come when they are good and ready and not a moment sooner!
coconut / 8475 posts
@Running Elley: maybe you can ask for a membrane sweet at 38w so you can pretty much garuenteed to go before the 39w induction? That way you'll feel more set on him coming and play the waiting game.
So I am a "loose 1cm, not yet a 2cm"
And "just about 50%"
Getting a membrane sweep in 7 days
And inducing the night before my dd!
She says the weekly sweeps will make me a VERY viable candidate for a successful induction:)
So, at least I now *know* I will not go over EDD.
In the meantime, I have to increase my walking this week. I am now at 1h&45min a day (splitting it up between am & pm & on treadmill vs. neighborhood strolls).
I feel ok about this....17days MAX!
Oh and the itch? Not goin away until a few hours after labor:/
squash / 13764 posts
@Running Elley: wow!!! That's fabulous news!!@TurtleDoves: that sounds great! So you have a definitive end date--so exciting!@jessiejo17: holy crap, can't believe that this time next week you will have your baby!!
My appointment was good, but not very exciting. I had my strep B test, which was no big deal, and then an internal. I"m 1cm dilated and 0% effaced, boo! But I'm EXACTLY 36 weeks today, so I figure that's not too bad, I still have time. The internal didn't hurt as much as I thought it would at all, so that's good.
Still feeling pretty crappy from this cold...I'm about to get into bed and watch some tv on netflix. Hope you guys who have yet to go to your appointments have good ones!
nectarine / 2834 posts
@TurtleDoves: @Running Elley: What exciting updates from the 2 of you! I'm trying not to get my hopes up for my appointment on Monday (36 weeks). @hellobeeboston: I asked my doc about the pressure and pain down there. Mine is more like pressure on my pelvic bones. She said it's just everything loosening and shifting to get ready for labor. I was really hoping she would say the baby was dropping, but she wasn't going there...
cantaloupe / 6610 posts
So this is a random pop-in...
I was in line at Starbucks today and this woman (she seemed pretty normal) asked me when I was due and the usual Pregnancy Interrogation. I mentioned something about starting to get really tired and hoping that the baby comes *a little* early. She said that her midwife told her of an induction concoction of 2tbsp of castor oil mixed with A&W root beer. She did it at 37 weeks and went into labor 12 hours later.
Just thought I would share....I googled it and found where a lot of peeps' MW told them to do that. I was intrigued:)
coconut / 8681 posts
@TurtleDoves: Yay for progress and having an end date!!! That's so exciting! Now you know that IF he doesn't come by then at least you won't have to wait I'm going to up my walking too!
@hilsy85: I hope that you feel better. A cold at this point would be...basically hell I think =/
