So excited for our first October baby. Congrats @jessiejo17! I'm starting to panic a little bit... Not ready for this yet! I have an u/s and internal check today. I have been soooo tired lately... Like every other day I just want to stay in bed. My son is not permitting this! Even though we have a nanny he just wants mama all the time. He's getting quite tantrum-y and a part of me wonders if this is a sign of impending labor! My son arrived at 38 weeks 2 days. So if this child follows suit I've got less than a week. STAY IN BABY!

Thanks everyone! I posted a pic in the FB group. It's not the best quality but I forgot my SD card adapter for the iPad!

I don't wish a c-section on anyone, recovery is tough for sure.

    @jessiejo17: Pics are sooo sweet!

Hospital tour last night? DH just ravenous to see a baby, it was adorable, we finally saw one! I think the tour made me more nervous, said I would have rathered he go, and then he can just tell me what's where when the time comes! In one of the rooms, the whiteboard said "88 hours of labour so far....write well wishes for Mom and these stubborn genes already shining through". 88 hours? O.M.G!

I have been up since 2:08am. Dog fell off the bed (lol) startled me awake, and then I got hungry, and just couldn't fall asleep. I'm at dentist now, my Grandma has appt and so we had lunch, saw the nursery and now I've gotten her to her appt and will get her home after, it's been so good visiting with her! She said she felt bad she's too old/not well enough to offer childcare when I go back to work. My Mom is 45 and still career crazy, she is 66 but lost a lot of her mobility after two strokes through a bad cancer battle, but I said it's no worries, they will enjoy the time more with her rather than providing daily childcare!

Will see how I am later today, I hope I can get some sleep.

    Due Date: 10/26
    Plans for induction: Nope!
Weeks along, weight gained: 36.5 weeks up 22 lbs
    Boy, Girl, or Surprise: Surprise
    Name(s)?: Baby "S" for a boy, "A" for a girl.
How many contractions away is the hospital?: Hospital is around the corner! Hoping to walk there!
Any anticipated labour/delivery complications? Placenta has been "low laying" the whole pregnancy. Looks like it should be ok, but there is some risk of a severe bleed if baby decides to take the placenta out with it.
Most recent appt stats: Head is LOW and engaged, but cervix is long and closed.
    Next appt? October 9
Guesstimated Birthweight of baby: They estimated 6lbs 10oz yesterday, so on track to be a little over 8!
Will baby have hair? No hair? I'm betting on a baldie.
Anything left to do?: Super last minute things need to go in the hospital bags like make up and my hair straightener.
Most anxious about: Safe delivery with my placenta concerns.
How are you feeling?: Great! I've been SO lucky with an easy pregnancy.
Aside from baby arrival being safe, and baby and Mom being healthy, what are you looking forward to once your baby is here?: Sending my husband out to the grandparents to announce if we've had a boy or girl! And, of course, finally meeting this little one!
Looking forward to post-pregnancy? Wine and sleeping on my stomach.
Post-pregnancy fitness goals? (If any!): Long walks with baby, back to traditional yoga.
What do you anticipate will be the most difficult part of learning to parent or the hardest adjustment to being a parent?: Just finding our groove.
Return to work date (if returning!): February 2013!
As of now, how many children do you think you will have: I'd love 3.

    Due Date: 10/28
    Plans for induction: Nope!
Weeks along, weight gained: up 26 pounds at 36 weeks
    Boy, Girl, or Surprise: Surprise!
Name(s)?: Settled on and picked. Still waiting to meet the baby before it's definite though.
How many contractions away is the hospital?: Just thinking about this is scary. If I have to go at rush hour, there's a good chance I could give birth in one of the tunnels going into NYC!
Any anticipated labour/delivery complications? Not as of right now. Everything looks good.
Most recent appt stats: Baby is head down and low. I'm a "fingertip dilated".
    Next appt? October 10
Guesstimated Birthweight of baby: Doc estimated baby is 5 1/2 lbs yesterday so she's thinking a 7 1/2 pound baby at delivery.
Will baby have hair? No hair? If the old wives' tale about heartburn and hair is true, I expect to give birth to cousin It.
Anything left to do?: Everything necessary is done. But we are still waiting on one more part to the crib that they never sent the first time. The nursery looks so incomplete with the crib in pieces
Most anxious about: When and where I go into labor.
How are you feeling?: Really good...and lucky to have been able to enjoy this pregnancy, even at this stage.
Aside from baby arrival being safe, and baby and Mom being healthy, what are you looking forward to once your baby is here?: Just snuggling and cuddling and really getting to know my son or daughter.
Looking forward to post-pregnancy? Same as above - enjoying time with DH just staring at our little miracle.
Post-pregnancy fitness goals? (If any!): I'd like to do a 10 mile race which is scheduled for May. I signed up this year the day before I found out I was pregnant because I was so convinced I wasn't!
What do you anticipate will be the most difficult part of learning to parent or the hardest adjustment to being a parent?: All of it!
Return to work date (if returning!): January 14. Already dreading that day.
As of now, how many children do you think you will have: 3...4 if I can talk DH into it. We'll see how this first one goes

Just got back from my 37 week appointment...not much progress at all. Still dilated to 1cm, not really effaced, and baby is at -3 station. I was preparing myself for not having made progress, but it still is kind of disappointing to me...I feel like I'm going to go into November and will need to be induced My doctor also told me that the earliest she would induce me is Nov. 1...so it's a bit depressing to think that I could still be pregnant a whole other month. I need to shake myself out of this funk!

I think there are some other ladies who have appointments today; hope they go well!

@hilsy85: I'm sorry you had dissapointing progress. I have my third check tomorrow at 38w2d and I hoping I have some progress. At my last appt I was still 1cm 0% effaced and -2 station.

  14. hellobeeboston

@hilsy85: I wouldn't get too discouraged - you're only 37 weeks - pleeeenty of time for things to start happening!! My good friend was at 2cm for like 3 weeks, went to the doc 3 days before her due date, still no progress, then that night/next morning her water broke and she was like a 5 when she got to the hospital then had the baby shortly thereafter!!

  15. hilsy85

    squash / 13764 posts

@Mrs.B: fingers crossed you've made progress!

@hellobeeboston: I know, you're totally right--I've heard so many stories about things happening literally overnight. It's just frustrating that it's another thing we have zero control over! I am also feeling so ready to NOT be pregnant--the anticipation of the last few weeks is going to be really tough.

I just got back from my 38 week appointment! Last week I was dilated to 2.5cm and 80% effaced. This week I'm between 3 and 4 and about 90% effaced. My doctor stripped my membranes to encourage contractions, said baby's head is REALLY low and engaged. He seems to think I'll go into labor on my own before my appt next Tuesday but if I don't he said that we can schedule an induction for next Thursday.

I had my 37 week appt. this morning. I decided to refuse the internal check. I really don't care to know if I've made progress at this point b/c I'm still too early. Maybe at my 38 week appt next week. Doctor did say his head feels really low. I asked if I was going to be able to do intermittent monitoring while in labor and he doesn't allow it. I think it's a liability thing for him which is sad. I'm disappointed, but I'll try to make the best of being strapped to a monitor the whole time. He said I'll still be able to move around which is good. Oh and I'm GBS negative, so that's good!

@hilsy85: Don't get discouraged. You're only 37 weeks and it's really no indicator of when you'll go into labor. But I totally get it. I'm starting to feel anxious too. I really don't want to go into Nov, and I'm also sticking with this Oct board if I do!

@Running Elley: Wow girl! Sounds like things are going to start happening soon!

Wow! Lots of appointments today! So exciting to see these updates!!
I go in tomorrow morning. I will be 39w4d...I am trying to decide if I want to ask for the membrane sweep. I think I will be discouraged if I haven't made any progress since last week since my due date is Saturday. Sigh... But I've tried to tell myself from the beginning that I would be late, but now I am getting a little impatient

@Running Elley: Whoa!! That is big news -- you must be so excited!
Don't get discouraged ladies...our little ones will be here before we know it. Hellobee is full of stories of women who weren't making any progress and then boom! I'm just trying to focus on enjoying the quiet nights (and sleep) with DH...we won't have many more!

  25. CupQuakeWalk

@hilsy85: trust me I know it's disappointing but: you can make big-time progress from here until 40w
    @Running Elley: So excited!

Had my 38w today and I am 2cm and "very effaced and super soft" & my doctor said she wouldn't e surprised if I didn't make it to next weeks Tuesday appointment!! In fact she KEPT saying "I knoooow I'll see you in L&D this weekend". Omg I hope she's right!
So, I got swept and I'm sitting here with fingers crossed!
Bad news is: she said she wouldn't induce me until the 14th (40+2) instead of the 12th because she just realized she's not on call that weekend and she doesn't want me to end up with an OB I don't know. Anyways- she's pretty sure I won't be over my edd anyways:) so excited:)

  26. CupQuakeWalk

    coconut / 8475 posts

@CarrieLouWho: I encourage you to ask....all it does is remove one layer of mucus/membrane so that your cervix has more pressure on it....this causing you to thin out dilate quicker. That way: if when you do go into labor: you will have some progress before arriving at the hospital instead of getting there and being like a 2cm after hours of laboring. I promise you it didn't hurt...felt uncomfortable but less than a pap.

  27. CarrieLouWho

    persimmon / 1408 posts

@TurtleDoves - I'm pretty sure I am going to ask for it. I have been feeling pretty crampy tonight. Fingers crossed its a good sign. The good news is that I'm already 3cm and 70% effaced and everything I read said that the membrane sweep is most beneficial if you are already dilating.
It sounds like we might have a busy weekend coming up!!!

Crampy tonight, almost to a point where I am watching the clock to see any pattern, but nothing, just cramptastic!

I hope I can sleep tonight, somehow I am still not tired.....working on up for 20 hours, less 40 minutes, ugh.

I hope we get some babies this weekend ladies! Long weekend here, so would sort of work out great for us/DH as he'd get an extra day home with the holiday Monday!

I will be 38+5 at my appt Thursday, already looking forward to how it goes!

DH and I went for a good walk tonight, but then had some super lazy time too, we need it!

@CarrieLouWho: Hope your appointment today goes well!
Thanks for the encouragement ladies, I'm feeling much better today. I've kind of prepared myself to start counting down to Nov. 1st, which is the earliest my OB will induce me, rather than Oct. 23rd. So if he comes earlier, it'll be a nice surprise!
@mrskc: I kind of wish I had refused internals until 38 weeks! Sorry to hear that you need to be monitored constantly, I should ask my OB what her policy is at my next appt. @TurtleDoves: that's great news! Weren't you one who had little progress at your first appt?@Beebug: ugh sorry to hear about the insomnia I was up from about 4:45-6:00 last night by then was able to fall asleep again. Annoying!

Oh I wanted to ask a Q to the ladies that:
    - lost their m/p
    And or
    - have gotten a sweep done
Can we take baths? My OB said sex was OK but that it might hurt...but she didn't say anything about baths. She did sweep me and confirm my plug is indeed gone! So I'm kinda freaked about the potential of infection..?

  35. Mrs.B

    clementine / 961 posts

@TurtleDoves: Baths are still ok. My OB says until my water breaks that baths and sex are fine.

I just lost some more mucus plug. I've lost a ton of it in the past few days I have no idea how any is left! I'm preparing myself for no progress at my appt even though I can feel my body getting ready. If no progress then I will surrender and let nature take it's course. I'm going to try SO hard not to be dissapointed today.

  36. CarrieLouWho

    persimmon / 1408 posts

Hiya Ladies! Just got back from my appointment. I think this is the first one I've been a little disappointed afterwards. No major progress from last week: 3 cm / 70% effaced / -1 station. I will say that I feel like she's dropped some and feels lower. I asked my Dr. about doing a membrane sweep and she said she didn't think I needed one. Since I've been back, I've had some bleeding and I think some of the mucus plug is coming out, so that's good I guess.

So, now I'm scheduled to come in next Thursday afternoon (if we haven't had her by then) for a check and she said if I'm far enough along at that point that we'll go to the hospital and hope for a 10/11/12 baby. If I haven't progressed any more, then I'll be induced on Friday 10/12.

@Mrs. B - hope your appointment goes well!!!

  37. mrskc

I had trouble sleeping last night too. Not as bad as some of you. I woke up at 5 am and couldn't go back to sleep. My alarm goes off at 5:45. So annoying! I really hope we get our next Oct mama soon! Maybe someone will go this weekend.

  38. CupQuakeWalk

    coconut / 8475 posts

@CarrieLouWho: hey! Not bad! Obviously she didn't give you the sweep because she believes you are *that* ready to just go on your own without assistance. And even if you don't...it's so nice to have an end date....the 12th is seriously 8-9 days away...that's nothing:) Don't be sad!!

I am so flippin tired from the lack of sleep last night...and I'm super sore from the sweep...but I am going to get my butt up and go to the gym....if only for 30/45 mins....ugh: wish me luck:/

  39. mrskc

    bananas / 9357 posts

@CarrieLouWho: Sorry you didn't have any progress. At least you have an end date in sight! But I hope your little one doesn't make you wait much longer. When was your due date again?

  40. CarrieLouWho

    persimmon / 1408 posts

It's weird b/c I've convinced myself from the beginning I would go late... but I think since @JessieJ017 and I had the same due date (10/6), and now she's had her sweet baby girl I'm ready to meet mine!
Really though, I can't complain - I'm not uncomfortable, I'm still sleeping great (sorry @Mrs.B, @BeeBug and @MrsKC that ya'll are having crummy nights sleep!). So if I have to keep being pregnant for another week, at least I'm not uncomfortable and I'm medically stable. All good things!

And today is our anniversary, so I have a nice dinner to look forward to tonight!!!
