@Beebug: Even though I have done this before I do not remember what a contraction feels like :/. I just remember I was in so much pain but can't seem to remember exactly where the pain was or what it felt like. I have also slept the last 2 nights. Maybe this means we are getting close

PS any ladies with dogs, somehow until this morning I forgot to ensure his stuff was ready too, so a reminder for anyone! I put each of his meals in baggies, his meds and wet food (high maintenance much?) and everything in a mini bin for him so when my parents get him everything is set!

@CarrieLouWho: I'm sorry to hear about your rough day! I hear you on the emotions! yikes... i definitely have my days.

@Beebug: OMG - you are hilarious!

@jessiejo17: great to hear an update! hope your little girl gets to go home soon! Don't worry about the formula, it's what she needs right now!

@Mrs.B: @Hilsy: I, too, am not sure what to expect with contractions! last night i was having some menstrual like cramps that would come on strong for a few seconds then go away, no regularity though, and then they went away... But I totally googled "What do early contractions feel like" yesterday!

@BeeBug - you are too funny!!! I feel like I should go looking for pineapple tonight. I've never cut a real one though. Do the already cut fresh ones have the same inducing properties? I know canned don't...

@CarrieLouWho: Big Hugs!! Hang in there. You're getting so close. Maybe go on a date night with hubby?

@jessiej017: Hoping you get to take your little girl home soon! Don't feel guilty or anything about the formula. You have to do what feels right for your LO.

@Beebug: You are really making me want some pineapple now. I really need to figure out what to do with my dog. I'm thinking of just leaving her in the backyard and having friends and family drop by to feed her. She's too much of a piggy to just leave enough food for her. I imagine we'll only be gone for 2 nights.

@hellobeeboston: I was feeling a lot of menstrual like cramps too. Not so much this week, but a lot last week.

@CarrieLouWho: preach sister....I know it's super annoying to have people always commenting on when you're gona go and why you haven't already! But it will come...they say no ones ever been pregnant forever and I hope they're right...:)
I had my bitch fest...oops I mean pity party last night. It was midnight and I had been having intense BH that were not turning themselves into contractions and I had a huge migraine. So I cried and cried and begged my body to "leave me alone and have mercy!" I told baby I love him but I need him to get the hell out & I wasn't super nice to be honest.
Finally at like 6:45am I knocked out and now it's 11:30am and I'm awake again but with a new and improved attitude. I am in the "screw it phase" which is basically me surrendering. I'm going to ride this out as best I can and it's Friday so today is mosque and prayer day for us Muslims: so I'm having everyone pray for a delivery soon and some patience for me!

@CarrieLouWho: I am so sorry I would definitely feel the same way.
@Beebug: YUM! I've been eating pineapple like it's my job.

All the ladies who are worried that they won't know when you're really in labor.... I feel the exact same way. What I keep telling myself is that eventually, if it's really labor, it's got to get to the point where I KNOW that it's really labor. If it goes away then it's not going to be real labor. So my motto has been to just wait it out. I've also been having the intense pelvic pressure. I get why people waddle for sure..

@mrskc: I've been feeling the rhythmic movements that aren't hiccups too. I asked my dr about it this week and he said that it is baby practice breathing. Exciting

I'm pretty sure that I lost most of my mucus plug last night and I've been losing more here and there this morning. It makes me feel like there's actually something happening.

@Running Elley: ahh so exciting!!! I keep checking everytime I go to the bathroom but so far, nothing.

Ugh DH is annoying me...he just emailed me saying, "Well you know Nov. 1st (the earliest my doctor will induce me) is only 41w 2 days...maybe we should think about waiting until 42 weeks". I want to strangle him and then cry at the thought of being pregnant for 42 weeks!!! I know he's only thinking of the baby's health and the best possible outcome for an induction for me, but still!! Not what I need to hear!

  11. CupQuakeWalk

    coconut / 8475 posts

@hilsy85: I get ya...DH would say the same but luckily my OB only allows 5 days over. Anyways-----if it makes you feel better: I doubt you'll make it that far. It's rare that they won't come on their own by then, right?

  12. hilsy85

    squash / 13764 posts

@TurtleDoves: Apparently there's a 4.7% chance that baby will not have been born by 41 weeks...which is not that high. But still, it's annoying me that he doesn't seem to get that I DON"T WANT TO BE PREGNANT ANYMORE, lol.

so.... been having severe back pains for the past hour. What the hell? what is this - i haven't had back pain at all... this is like on my side starting around my hip and radiating up & around. It's basically constant, but gets worse then better.... no cramps really. baby is still moving, although when it first started he wasn't moving at all and it freaked me out, then the pain eased up a bit & he started kicking....

have you ladies had this? It almost feels like a pinched nerve. If I don't move at all, it's ok, but still dull.... but if I breathe too deep it hurts - and walking hurts.

    should I call the doc?

  14. mrskc

    bananas / 9357 posts

@hilsy85: Ah I'm sorry. Tell him he doesn't have a say b/c he's not the one who's pregnant. I think now that it's Oct, we're all feeling super anxious now.

@hellobeeboston: I don't know what it could be. I've heard contractions can wrap around to the back, but if it's constant, then I'm not sure. It never hurts to give the doctor a call.

  15. CupQuakeWalk

    coconut / 8475 posts

@hellobeeboston: I felt the same. My OB said they were contractions! But she said contractions come and go: if they aren't progressively getting worse (to the point of excruciating pain) and if they are not consistently coming closer & closer together then it's a falsie I don't know if that's the case with you but it was me. Mine started at like 38w?

  16. hilsy85

    squash / 13764 posts

@hellobeeboston: sounds like it could be contractions! When's your next appt with the dr?

  17. Running Elley

    coconut / 8681 posts

@hilsy85: Ugh I totally understand now wanting to be pregnant for that much longer! I'll just keep my fingers crossed that your LO decides to come out and meet you even sooner
@hellobeeboston: I've been having that for the past few days or so. It's a miserable feeling! Watch for a pattern. Mine have never gotten to the point where they could be timed.

  18. hellobeeboston

    honeydew / 7235 posts

@TurtleDoves: ahh! Contractions? Exciting! And ouch.

@hilsy85: next appointment is Wednesday morning, I'll def bring it up.

So, yeah, that bad pain lasted about an hour and a half and then almost completely went away. Still feel it a bit now, but it was mostly in my back, radiating, and I occasionally felt like I needed to throw up! I was at work too! Everyone thought I was going into labor.... Home now! So happy for the 3 day weekend.

@CarrieLouWho: I am in awe of you and anyone else still working at this point! Like, seriously. I have been on mat leave for four weeks now and I can barely take more than a brisk few hours of mall-crawling! And I'm still having hormonal freak outs despite th lack of responsibility.

BTW you guys don't stress about the baby dropping! My first didn't drop. Ever. I was at 9 cm and he was still up there. They had to push him down to get him out. I have not dropped this time either although I guess at is common after your first pregnancy.

I thought for a few minutes this morning that I was having contractions. Still not sure if I was or not but if so, they stopped. I went into labor spontaneously last time at 38 weeks 1 day and gave birth the next morning. So that milestone will be this Sunday/Monday! I think this one will bake longer. Hope so!

Thanks everyone... I think it was just a rough day.

Question- for those of you using the birthing ball... What are doing on it? I went and got one tonight! I'm just sitting on it and rocking around and stretching my hips. How long do you sit on it at a time?

Hope everyone is having a good Friday night!

  21. Mrs.B

    clementine / 961 posts

@CarrieLouWho: I've been bouncing on it. I sit with my legs open and bounce up and down. I do it for 30 minutes in reps of 5 minutes. So my routine is bounce 5 minutes then rotate my hips 10 times to the right then 10 times to the left. I do 6 of those sets so it's about 30 minutes total.

  22. CarrieLouWho

    persimmon / 1408 posts

Thanks @MrsB! That what I was kind of doing... But having a rep plan would be good! The bouncing feels a little weird. But it definitely relieves a lot of pressure!!!

@CarrieLouWho: last time the doula had us do hips front and back, hip circles in each direction and bouncing which is the most fun part.

I don't want to feel super stupid and wake DH up for a false alarm but I really think I *might* be in labor. I was woken up about an hour ago with stomach and back pains. I'm not timing it but I cannot sleep because it keeps waking me up. I'm now just trying to chill out and watch TV. So far I keep having them so you'll see! I really hope it's labor!

  25. Mrs.B

    clementine / 961 posts

I really hope this is labor because every time I get the pain wave back I think how could this not be labor. Ahhhhhh I'm freaking out.

  26. Mrs.B

    clementine / 961 posts

Ok ladies I'm calling labor! I woke DH up but sent him back to sleep for a few hours. I'm currently bouncing on my birth ball with contractions lasting 40 seconds 3.5 minutes apart. They hurt but I can breath threw them so I haven't called my OB yet. I'm going to wait until they are lasting a full minute. I'm SO excited and still feel like what if the contractions go away but at this point they have gone from 8 minutes apart 2 hours ago to 3,5 minutes apart consistantly. I feel like this is the real deal.

FYI, just read online (looking for recipes) that eggplant , or eggplant parm can induce labor. Haha, who knows but if you want to add something different to your pineapple regimen!

I was definitely feeling *something* last night and baby was super quiet from 2pm all through last night, getting enough movement (barely) to know she's ok in there, but way, way quiet, soooo baby likes to keep me hoping I guess? Ha! Off to dog show (agility!) this morning and wedding this afternoon, so busy day! I still have my sickie/cold, but it is totally on its way out, thank goodness, feels good to feel a little better!!!

Ladies I am miserable! I am still in "early" labor so I'm not progressing but my contractions are 2-5 minutes apart and still only lasting 40 seconds. I got checked at 11am and I'm not dialating so I'm just dealing with the pain right now which hurts :/. Hopefully I hit active labor soon because this super stinks.

  39. CarrieLouWho

    persimmon / 1408 posts

Bummer @Mrs.B! I've been checking back in all day to see if we had an update. Have you not dilated at all, or just not progressed? Sorry that things aren't moving quicker! Fingers crossed that tonight things will pick up!
