Hey everyone! Just checking in! We came home yesterday afternoon. We are doing well. I'm still pretty sore, I'll try to get a birth story together at some point, but I had to have 2 epidural a and ended up with 3rd degree tear and a tear by my urethra - boo! But I'm actually not feeling as bad as I thought I would.
Breastfeeding has been kind of rough... Bleeding and bruised but saw a better lactation consultant today and I have a plan and feel better.
For everyone that is waiting... I'm sending labor dust you way!!! I hope it's a great experience for you all!!! And get as much sleep as you can, it's no joke the lack of sleep.
And for those still working... I think I said to my husband 4 times in the labor - yay, I don't have to work tomorrow!!!

    Off to feed Delaney!

@Mrs.B: Thinking of you and your family! I hope her levels go down and she avoids NICU time.

@Beebug: Aww I'm sorry about the cold sore. I get them too and I feel your pain. I used to get them so bad as a kid and now I usually get one once a year or so. It's probably from the cold you had. Hope it goes away soon!

@Mrs.B: fingers crossed for you! hope her levels go down - i had jaundice when I was a baby - my mom said she just put me in front of the sunny windows all day (pre light blankets i guess)...

So - i had my appointment this morning - it was good i think!
I'm a "generous 1" she said - not quite at 2cm, but more than 1, so I guess a 1.5? I'm about 30% effaced, and she said he was at a -3 station - so up high, but she could feel his head.... So, all in all, I feel pretty good about that! I was a little worried there was going to be ZERO happening, he still seems up really high, so I'll sit on my ball all day!

She said next week she would try stripping my membranes if I wanted, so I'll probably do that.

@hellobeeboston: sounds like we are in similar states--maybe our babies will be birthday twins Glad you had a good appt! I am off to go on a 2 mile walk in the hopes that it helps baby boy move down a bit.
@Beebug: sorry to hear about your cold sore Is there any medication you can use to help it go away faster?

@Mrs.B: crossing my fingers for you & baby!
@CarrieLouWho: Beautiful baby! Feel better soon:)
@Beebug: Get some Abreva!!!!! Nooooo joke. That stuff kills cold sores like magic. I swear by it. But apply It generously...as in: make sure it is on that cold sore 24/7 not just during the day or at night. Love it!

So I'm done with the gym! I'm soooooo bored of it. I'm doing mall walking today! Going to buy myself some yummy latte or something and cruise the mall staring oooogly eyed at all the skinny girls in all their non maternity jeans (grr!)

@TurtleDoves: ha seriously, I went for a walk outside today instead of on the treadmill and it was so much less boring!! I am also enjoying a latte Have a good walk--every step I take, I'm thinking in my head, "move down baby! come out baby!" lol.

@CarrieLouWho: How did I miss getting you in there? SO sorry. I think I just re-did it, sorry Momma!

@hellobeeboston: Friended and added to group!

Coldsore is juuuust throbbing! We have pills, creams, tried abreva (DH gets them too, it made telling him I got them SO much easier when I got my first when we were together when he said he had got them since he was a kiddo too!!) and since none of that works, I do what my Poppa does.....rubbing alcohol! So I call it treating it Poppa style! Every time I go to the washroom I soak a cotton swab and press and hold for 30 painful seconds, it's awful, but dries it out and I find works the best....I know it sounds silly, I just wasn't sure about inhaling the fumes from it with it right at my nose....? Worried about baby, not me, lol.

Is everyone else in fb group that wants to be?!

Back from appt and a little shopping!

Why I shopped I don't know, I feel like death and just want the couch, but alas, I got some baby stuff, and a post-preg top for me and two scarves! There is a chain store here closing as Target is coming to Canada in this stores space so they had some pretty good sales! Stopped at dog training place too and got dog registered in his next competitive class!

Doctor's appt was good, my doc had three preggo's for October and we were due the 11th, 13th (me!) and 15th.....they both had their babies Monday. She missed them both as she was too far away for Thanksgiving (and sure they wouldn't go early, ha!), so said "with her luck" I will go Saturday (on EDD!) the one day this month she booked out and definitely can't make.

She said 2cm dilated, 70-75% effaced and very, very soft and gushy in there and I am already pretty sore. Girlie did NOT like being touched again and we definitely felt her squirm!

If I make my appt next week (Wednesday) she said she'd book me in for an ultrasound to do a biophysical profile, and then plan induction.

My brain was too fried to think of any questions I had....when I got there and had to pee in the cup I was so stupid to start peeing an almost finish before realizing the cup was in my hand not catching pee (totally forgot)....how stupid! Weight was 195lbs.....bp 130/78.

    @CarrieLouWho: Adorable!

Alia's Bilirubin levels went up today but her pedi is going to let her do 1 more day of phototherepy at home before sending her to NICU. So if her levels are high again at her 3pm blood draw tomorrow she will be admited right away I just want her to get better. Please send us good vibes and prayers that her levels drop.

@hilsy85: lol I know... subconsciously I can "feel" the baby descending. Yeahhhh right....Hope so though!
Went to mall & I had myself a chai latte and then my friend met up with me and we bought jeans for hwne im skinny again haha....I tried them on and they got up there but wouldn't button obviously...so I know they'll be on me soon enough!

@Beebug: I've done that too! I have peed and then...whoops, there is the cup sitting on the counter and here I am just letting it flow. Ugh, dumb. But this preggo can go like every 15minutes like clockwork so it wasn't a problem.

    @Mrs.B: Praying for Alia!!

Just popping in to say I'm rooting for everyone and that I've been checking this thread during feedings!! I think breastfeeding is the hardest part so far... I hope it gets easier once my milk comes in! Little guy latches on like a champ but my nips are soooo tender (tmi??) that it hurts pretty much the whole time. Totally worth it though!

  20. CarrieLouWho

    persimmon / 1408 posts

@RunningElley - I keep checking in to between feeds and agreed...breastfeeding is way harder than I ever thought. I got pretty bruised from one bad session and I'm still recovering. My milk came in today though!!!
For anyone trying to breastfeed here's my advice, 3 days in: if there is a lactation consultant at your hospital, use them. BUT - I didn't like mine and she was a total nazi and made me feel terrible. Luckily, there are LCs at our pediatrician. I saw one today and felt SOOOOO much better about everything.
When they latch, it hurts, a lot for about 10-15 seconds. When you through in bruises and cracked nipples - I feel like it hurt more than labor. And I am not exaggerating. I know it's different for everyone, but I wish I had prepared better for that. Yesterday wa really hard and I was in tears ready to give up... But today has been so much better.

@CarrieLouWho: We have a ped appt tomorrow morning and i'm definitely planning on asking for a LC! We didn't like the one at our hospital either. It really hurts when he latches on and it keeps hurting for me- I definitely agree that it's worse than labor because it's constant! The fact that seeing the consultant helped you makes me feel SO hopeful for tomorrow! Thanks! How often are you feeding?

@CarrieLouWho: @Running Elley: so glad you girls are back and with advice too! We will open up an October BABIES thread soon....just once a few more mamas start coming back and some more have babies:) Can't wait! Enjoy your LOs, you lucky duckies!

It's 7am here and I literally haven't slept. I have been having the most horrible cramps all night but nothing timeable or consistent. I just had some (tmi) diarrhea and....a bloody show? My doctor told me I already lost my plug so I am not 100% sure why I had a bunch (a buuuunch) of thick music tinged with light brown? Anyways: baby is significantly lower right now and DH and I can literally feel him under my pelvic bone like if I press on my crotch? I feel hard head!
So needless to say something is happening: I just don't know what!
I do feel extremely nauseated and I'm dry heaving badly. Please let this be it! because I don't want to suffer through this and it be a false alarm...
    Due date tomorrow.

@TurtleDoves: oh goodness! Sorry to hear about being up all night, but here's hoping this is the start!!! Isn't it cool to feel where baby's head is!? The tmi on the blood/mucus, could it be from the poop? My September sickness, it definitely was.....yuuuuuck.

I too have been up all night, but have a feeling this baby is not coming any time soon, until I am rid of this cold. 10/11/12 birthday today would have been so cool! All the people irl who thought I was going early, pfft, lol. Still betting on making it to next weekend, trying not to sound happy about it, but I want to be healthy!

@TurtleDoves: the plug regenerates so it could be more plug! Sorry you had a crap night.... So did I! Cramps and waking up over and over and worrying We'll see!

@CarrieLouWho: totally agree about breast feeding, the first four days my nipples were so painful as she would only latch on the tip. Painful!! I saw 3 different lactation consulatants to try and correct. For me it was decided to exclusively pump due to Emme's mouth palate being too high, I was told her mouth wasn't made for breast feeding. Made me feel like less than a failure.

Everyone I need some happy thoughts for another October momma who isn't a member of the boards. DH cousin is 37 weeks and was told yesterday her baby had a irregular heartbeat and she now has to see a specialist. She is very upset so all prayers and thoughts are needed!

@Mrs.B: Thinking about Elia today (sorry....is it Alia or Elia....looked back you've typed both, lol!)

Momma's who have had their babies.....silly, random question I thought of while walking the dog this morning.....what's it like to have no baby in belly now? Like.....can you touch your toes (to put shoes on for example, ha!) with no problem again? Does it feel weird?! Of all questions to ask, but I was seriously wondering!

Love that you ladies have had time to post and chat, it's so awesome to read still waiting to not only help prepare me/us still preggo for what's coming and how to work through things if we share the same things!

@jessiejo17: Happy thoughts for DHs cousin, I am sure that is a great worry -hope everything turns out to be ok!

@TurtleDoves: eeeek! Hope this is it for you! Sending you labor dust.

@jessiejo17: Sending positive thoughts for your DH's cousin. I hope everything is ok!

@Beebug: I too wonder what it will feel like to not have a baby in my belly anymore. Will it feel empty? Or will I feel like my normal self?

  33. Beebug

    pomegranate / 3917 posts

@mrskc: I don't even remember what normal is! I look at early and pre-preg pics and that "me" just seems so far gone, normal might need redefining for me, lol.

  34. LuLu Mom

    GOLD / wonderful olive / 19030 posts

@Beebug: I am able to touch my toes, however its still a little hard with my c-section scar healing. I catch myself still putting my hand on my belly even though there is nothing to feel move. The best part is stepping on the scale and seeing a slightly normal number!

  35. mrskc

    bananas / 9357 posts

I had an appt this morning. I got my first internal. Wasn't bad at all. He said I was about 2 cm dilated and 80% effaced. Said baby's head seemed low. Who knows when I'll go into labor though. Hope everyone else is doing good this morning.

@hilsy85: @sloaneandpuffy: @mrskc: thanks guys! Manage to take a 2h nap....still crampy and baby still superrrrr low. I am going to sit around an watch movies today. Hopefully if I am in labor I can miter some energy to push:)
@jessiejo17: Praying for your friend. If it makes you feel any better: we have relatives who were told their son had an irregular heartbeat throughout the pregnancy and when he was born he did..however it corrected itself within weeks without the need of any surgery.
    @mrskc: Awesome progress:)

@Beebug: Haha I know what you mean but it's not from the diarrhea ...I confirmed it was IN the mucus and it's like...stringy streaks of it just like the first time plug came out. I have learned to expect nothing though:(

  37. Beebug

    pomegranate / 3917 posts

You know I never have even thought to ask my doc about mucus plug and losing it/not losing it....I don't think I have, lol.

@jessiejo17: Eee to slightly normal number! That's exciting!

Couchtime for some lazy, I have done way more than I wanted to/said I would today, but glad to get what I did, done!

@mrskc: that sounds like a good appt!

@jessiejo17: sending good thoughts to your DH's cousin!

Anyone else been having a TON of braxton hicks? Last night they were happening like every 10 minutes it seemed. I wish they were the real thing!

  39. Mrs.B

    clementine / 961 posts

@Beebug: We ended up changing the spelling from Elia to Alia. With DS I didn't loose my mucus plug until I was in full blown labor. This time around I lost it in pieces from about 34 weeks until labor but I never had the bloody show this time around.

@mrskc: wow that's great! seems like you're making progress - it's tough though because those stats can mean you'll deliver tomorrow or in 2 weeks!
