@hilsy85: Thank-you for that tip....I will scrub in the shower tonight
@mrskc: Chels spits up maybe 1-3x a day...definitely not consistent, sometimes just a little spits, or sometimes a lot.....and then always gets hiccups....that sound like they hurt!!
MIL arrived home last night. DH and her had a long talk over lunch at the airport yesterday. Said some more foolish things.....today was such a positive day, that I don't even care anymore, I hate that this has probably reallllly tarnished the relationship though, so unnecessary!
A friends Mom made a quilt for babes, we received it today....omg unreal beautiful.
Today was our last Sunday of freedom, next three Sundays are showers.....insanity.

@TurtleDoves: hey there dollface! You are too sweet. I miss you too. I feel like when baby is napping i should be napping too or cleaning or cooking and when he is awake i feel like i should be playing with him or feeding him. Finally i am starting to find a groove and a balance though. I read hellobee almost everyday but i don't post as often on the Autumn babies board i started here: http://boards.hellobee.com/topic/autumn-babies-2012. I am hoping to check in more with you and all the beautiful babies. How are you and your little one doing?

Hello ladies!
I am new over here. DH and I welcomed a little boy on October 5 2012 at 10:49pm. Nolan Alexander is such a wonderful little boy. I feel extremely blessed to have such a good baby. He only cries when he is hungry. He is also a very snuggly baby. (it is hard to get things done because I just want to snuggle with him all day) .
@Beebug: Nolan gets the hiccups every single time he eats. I feel so bad for him! We thought it was because he was born tongue-tied but after we had it corrected it continued. So I am not sure what the cause is, but at times it looks down right painful.
Is there any other ladies here who are exculsively pumping? I feel alittle cheated because Nolan never latched well (since he was born tongue-tied). I was renting a pump from the hospital until it decided to just quit working. I did finally buy myself a pump, I just don't like it as much as the hospital pump. Plus I feel like my supply is lessened since the hospital pump broke. I do have a great freezer supply though, I was just hoping to build up more. I have a terrible feeling that I will not get to build the supply the freezer supply I wanted to build for him. Any suggestions (without chaining me to the pump?)

@MrsRcCar: Glad you're on HB now, welcome
I have so considered exclusively pumping, but I am ebf'ing, for now! Congrats on baby Nolan!
If you have facebook, we have a facebook October Mama's group you could join in if you would like

@Beebug: @MrsRcCar: my guy gets hiccups every day too! I don't think they bother him, but I feel bad for him! He also always guzzles my milk and ends up coughing, and it freaks me out!
Not sure about the pump, I'm trying to avoid pumping right now, at least for a few more weeks to get my milk supply regulated - its all so tricky!
Hope you all are doing well October mamas!! I can't believe J is 10 days old!! So crazy! I want to write my birth story because I don't want to forget it - I just still think the whole thing was so incredible.
Anyone else's LOs having eye gunk? Yuck! I guess it's a blocked tear duct - I keep cleaning it with a warm wash cloth, and massaging the eye hoping it goes away soon !

@MrsRcCar: Welcome! DD hiccups alot after eating. It does bother her. I try to get her to latch on again and suckle my breast and they go away.
@hellobeeboston: DD also has clogged tear ducts. They have pretty much gone away now at 4 weeks old. Her Pedi told me to put breast milk in her eye. I would just squirt it in her closed eye and rub it in a little. It always made the gunk go away within a day.

@MrsRcCar: welcome! I remember you from WB. Congrats on your boy. Love his name. My son's name is Alexander.
Boy I thought DS had reached the peak of his growth spurt but yesterday took the cake. He ate every hour from 9 am to 7 pm yesterday. I was exhausted. I can't wait to start pumping so I can have a break but I want to hold off until my milk supply is established. Hope everyone is doing well.

@Beebug: What is the group name? I would like to join.
@Hellobeeboston: DS had problems with blocked milk ducts but it has finally resolved it self. Ask your LO doctor about eye ointment if it persists longer then 2 weeks. When I was a baby I had to have my tear ducts prodded twice because they wouldn't un-clog.
This morning I had an appointment to check DS weight and he is finally a little over nine pounds. Although the women who was working there made me feel terrible because he hasn't gained weight as fast as he should. They are reccomending I supplement with formula. I am not happy about it but I want DS to grow properly....Not how I wanted to start my monday...

@MrsRcCar: We have it hidden on facebook, so the only way we got everyone in was by adding me as a friend (you can delete me after if you want, no worries!!) look me up via themacisaacs at hotmail dot com and then once you add me, I will invite you into the private group
How long pp is everyone using their peri bottle? I realized I didn't really use it yesterday, and haven't today. I neeeeed to do more kegels, but otherwise think I am doing ok down there.....wearing light pads still, but not getting a ton of bleeding anymore.....now 16 days pp!
We just went on another good walk.....I love the stroller! It is seriously so nice to have. It was snowing a bit as we went, she was snug as a bug in there, and we've been home for nearly an hour and she is still out cold in the seat....WHY I am not napping right now is beyond me......!

Anyone elses LO suffering from baby acne? Alia woke up this morning with a major break out. I must admit I am not liking how it looks. I'm hoping it clears up ASAP!

@Mrs.B: Leo has like one or two small whiteheads on his cheek, in addition to the newborn mellia (sp?) that he's had since he's been born. I'm hoping his acne doesn't spread!

@MrsRcCar: welcome! My LO was also tongue tied (he had a posterior tongue tie, so not a super obvious one). We had it clipped last week. I think I cried more than he did. I have also been pumping a fair bit, mainly because my nipples have been so damaged from our breastfeeding attempts, but I"m hoping to get back to EBF. Have you considered getting Nolan's tongue tie clipped? Pumping is super hard work and really annoying, so my hat is off to you!

@Mrs.B: my ped said to face the baby's face every day (and more if he goes somewhere where he gets kissed a lot) with baby shampoo to help clear it up quicker.
@MrsMccarthy: I totally get it. I feel a burnout machine..I'm in constant go mode...the only time I can reply on here is when I'm nursing him (which these days has been so.so.much)

@Hilsy85: We had his tongue clipped about two weeks after his birth. He handled getting it done well. He was a little grumpy for a couple days after, but he has been just fine. However his suck is weak. He had a better suck before we got it clipped. His tongue-tie was pretty severe. It was tied all the way to his gums. Pumping isn't so bad, and my DH is really supportive.

Welcome @mrsrccar!
Delaney gets hiccups regularly, usually I will whip out the boob and sucking makes it go away
I'm 29 days PP and in still bleeding pretty regularly. I'm actually a little worried about my 3rd degree tear and that it may not be healing right. It hurts quite a bit when I go #2(sorry tmi). Not sure if I should call my obgyn or wait till 6 weeks.
She slept from midnight to 530 this morning! Woohoo! Butttt... It's only bc I slept on the couch with her on my chest. I'm so worried its going to create an issue later, but she will not sleep at night in her bassinet, swing or rock in play :(. So, it's the only way I can get sleep.
We went out for the first time by ourselves today - lunch with coworkers, met a friend I grew up with at the mall for a few minutes, and then to Target! Delaney did great... Except we had our first poop blowout - totally went through her clothes
Hope everyone is doing well! I can't believe I'm going to have a one month old on Wednesday!!!

Hey ladies! Sorry I have been so MIA lately, life is crazy with a newborn (which you all know by now!). Just wanted to give an update on the first month:
Emerson is still eating like a champ, she does 4-5 ounces every 4 or so hours. She has a bad case of acid reflux so we have here on a Rx from doctor and are finally seeing some relief, it was a rough couple weeks there with a screaming in pain baby.
She sleeps great at night, even had an almost 7 hour stretch, but usually it is more like 5 hous, which is still great. Only problem is she is not a morning mapper, so she is usually really crabby until afternoon nap!
We are completely in love with our stubborn and quick tempered little girl

@jessiejo17: yay glad to hear from you! Happy to hear that you and Emerson are doing well That's AWESOME that she's such a good night sleeper!@MrsRcCar: ah gotcha. That's great that your DH is so supportive and that you don't mind pumping too much. @CarrieLouWho: I would think that it can't hurt to call your OB if you think there's a problem? Worst case, she'll tell you to wait til your 6wk appt. I'm still bleeding as well (19d pp)--everytime I think it's done, I wake up and there's still more.
have you guys started exercising yet? I want to start walking on the treadmill, but the thought of trying to squeeze my boobs into a sports bra makes me wince. Maybe in another week or so.
I started on medication for thrush yesterday, and got a prescription for All Purpose Nipple ointment. I am hoping that this combo will help ease my pain! I am also counting down to the 6 week mark when everyone says that breastfeeding gets "easier" (I have been stalking your post about it, @mrskc).
GOLD / wonderful olive / 19030 posts
@MrsRcCar: I exclusively pump! My daughter was in the NICU for the first week and she would not latch so I started to pump to get her weight up, she never figured out breast feeding due to a high mouth palate so we stuck with pumping. I like having DH be able to help with feedings, I'm happy with our choice.

I am awake, and awoke feeling rested for the first time since Chels' was born. So refreshing.
We had a really good night (following a very awful night) and she is still snoozing. I just had some breakfast and thinking about what we're going to do today!
@hilsy85: I am walking (not quite power walking, but more than a leisurely stroll) with the dog and stroller now, about an hour a day. Doing lunges and other fun things as I hold/soothe her sometimes, but no actual workout on my own yet!
She looks like she's growing like a weed, it is crazy to see her change and grow so quickly!!
I posted some pics on fb of her more recently, and we finally got a photo of us since leaving the hospital!
I am going to get shower hostess gifts today, four showers, next three Sunday's, and one next Monday.....and I already think we have so.much.stuff (in terms of clothes) and I can't even imagine how lucky we're going to feel after all of these.
Silly comment.....I can't wait to be naked again......sick of wearing underwear +pad, nursing bra + bra pads all.the.time......ugh!! Aside from the shower, there's no break, just to be cozy in bed with nothing on, I live for the day

@Beebug: wow good for you! I really need to start walking more, our walks are usually 20-30 minutes while I'm running errands.
I think it's time to move L up to size 1 diapers **tear** he had a poop blowout this morning and he's peed out of his newborn diapers twice. The size 1s look so big on him though!
It is a miserable day here in NY--I am going stir crazy and want to get out of the house but it's raining/snowing, ick. Hopefully it stops so we can go out for a walk in a bit! hope you all are having good days!
pomegranate / 3917 posts
@hilsy85: size 1's are so funny compared to newborns, they do definitely seem SO much bigger!
Sunny, but chilly Fall day here, we were just out running errands, home and nursing now, then big walk time once we nurse/change/burp and get organized to go out again!
I'm insane, having company tonight and cooking, let's see how C behaves and if I can get the timing right, lol.
bananas / 9357 posts
@hilsy85: no exercise for me yet. Just some short walks. I'm still a bit sore down there if I do too much walking.
@Beebug: good for you for getting out and about so much.
How are you guys able to get out with your LOs? My baby hates the car seat and its a delicate process trying to get him strapped in. I have yet to try to take him somewhere on my own. I really would love to get out of the house more.
pomegranate / 3917 posts
@mrskc: Depending on the day, there is sometimes LOTS of screaming when she goes into the seat, but so long as I know all other variables are good (she's fed, bum changed, cozy warm) we just go......10 mins was the longest she shrieked in the car (20 min drive is furthest we've gone, and it was half of the way there). I won't lie, when we're going out in stroller I don't strap in her legs into car seat, just shoulder straps and chest buckle which seems to keep her happier. She has a receiving blanket and zip up car seat cozy on top of her so she's not going anywhere. She's getting better each time out (or I'm figuring things out better and she's staying happier, lol)
She is being a fusspot right now, onto the boob she goes.....hence me typing!!!
squash / 13764 posts
@mrskc: we either use the Moby, if I need to go somewhere with stairs/where the stroller will be difficult and I'm by myself, or our stroller with the bassinet attachment. LO usually falls asleep once he's in either, especially once the stroller is moving.

@Beebug: I can't wait to be naked again too! At 31 days PP I am still bleeding!
@mrskc: Alia also hates the carseat and the car. If I go anywhere that is longer then a 10 minute drive she crys. I have left the house maybe twice with her by myself since her birth. I do get DS everyday from school but that is a less then 5 minute drive. I have already had to nurse Alia in my car a few times It's tricky.
Alia is growing so fast! I tried to put the hat she wore home from the hospital on her yesterday and it would not go on. It was way to small. We went to the doctor today to check on her dairy allergy. She is 2.5lbs up from her birth weight and has grown 2 inches already. Pedi wants me to stay dairy free until the 4 month mark and then slowly reintroduce it. Being dairy free REALLY stinks.
bananas / 9357 posts
@Beebug: @Mrs.B: ok I'm glad it's not just my baby who cries in the car seat. I don't strap him in when we go on walks. Is that bad? He really hates the straps. I guess I just need to start venturing out on my own to get practice. I'm going to be forced to next week when he has his one month check up.
How often are your babies nursing? Thank goodness I think we're past the growth spurt. I'm finally getting a break during the day. He doesn't nap much during the day. And in the morning he wants to nurse every hour. If I'm lucky he'll nap 2 hours in the afternoon. I guess at least he sleeps the most at night so I can get some rest.
@Mrs.B: going dairy free would be so hard!

@hilsy85: I wish I lived somewhere that walking everywhere was acceptable. I live in the burbs and have to drive everywhere. He does so much better in a carrier. How are you doing with BFing? Is it getting better?
clementine / 961 posts
@mrskc: We are still on a 2 hour start to start schedule which I hear is normal for a EBF baby.
honeydew / 7235 posts
@mrskc: nursing is going pretty well for us - eating every 2-3 hours, getting easier! Night have been pretty good the past few days.
His latch is much better and we are figuring it out.... The only thing is he often chokes/gags and it freak me out! I can't feel my let down, can you?? I have been trying to adjust my position but I feel like he gulps it down and would gag anyway.
He also will cry when we put him in the carseat but will stop once we start moving so we just have to get through that initial cry. Sometimes he doesn't mind. I haven't ventured out just the two of us yet but plan on it soon! My husband took him out alone this morning and they did great!
persimmon / 1408 posts
I've been out every day this week so far, I just make sure LO is fed and diaper changed, and she's good in the carseat. We just lucked out that she is happy in the seat.
I haven't done much of anything in the way of exercise. I need to get to work on that!
DD is nursing about every 2-3 hours during the day, sometimes it's just an hour, but if she does back to back hours she'll then go 3 hours so its not too bad.
Last night I slept on the couch with her and we slept from 11 to 545! She didn't get up once. I am worried that its too long though. I was very engorged when I got up. We go to the dr tomorrow, so I will ask her about it then.
grapefruit / 4712 posts
To go anywhere I have to make sure DS is freshly fed and a clean diaper. He doesn't really care for his car seat. There is one place I will not go alone, the grocery store! He hates being in the his seat at the grocery store. DH pushes the cart, sorts the coupons, checks stuff off the list, and puts stuff in our cart. So what do I do? I carry Nolan or he will scream (and I mean scream bloody murder). Any suggestions to stop this? I would like to tackle the grocery store myself.
pomegranate / 3917 posts
@mrskc: attached a pic of how I "strap" her in for the carseat/stroller trips! She gets a receiving blanket on top of that out fit, then the cozy zipped up around her! Two degrees above zero here today, she's warm enough, but the straps done up over her legs seems pointless, so hopefully I'm not winning worst Mom award for that, we're sidewalk walking only, no offroading or anything crazy
.....She clearly doesn't even come close to fitting the outfit, but it keeps her warm
pomegranate / 3917 posts
Re: Nursing schedule.....
"Schedule", lol.
Last week we were 3 hours start to start like clockwork. Typically we're about that, but she fed every hour 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 last night, and then back to 2-3 hours for remainder of the night. I top her up when she's hysterics fussy, but try to settle her before putting her on in hysterics! Latch is good, cradle hold either side, left side is getting SUPER sensitive and I struggle not to flinch in pain when she latches, once she's on.....I'm ok.
Just got in from walk, going to prep dins, then nap so long as she stays asleep!
