@bunnylovesbear: see if that went through. I can make my posts to you private I think, even without you having Gold.

1) Are you hoping to increase or keep up with exercise now that we are in the middle/end of the second tri?
I am notoriously terrible at exercising, mostly because I pretty much have to be engaged in some kind of fitness class in order to garner the motivation to get it done--which becomes super expensive over time. Since getting pregnant, I've been going to step aerobics at least once a week (I am like an elderly woman), walking my dog on the local bypass (almost 3 miles long... but not doing this daily), and treading water in the ocean for about 15-30 minutes (again, not daily). I'm probably averaging at least four days of some type of activity a week. Since we've been on vacation, we've been walking a ton every day (but also eating a ton... so maybe it cancels out?).
2) How are you sleeping?
I've had problems sleeping this entire time. I've got the pillow between the legs, and I'm semi-terrified when I wake up on my back instead of on my side. I have difficulties napping during the day so I'm usually really drowsy at certain points of the day, and at the same time can't seem to stay asleep for longer than six hours on most nights. Once I'm awake, it's very difficult for me to fall back asleep.
3) Any babymoon plans?
We're babymooning right now! We finished Boston, and are almost done here in New York; tomorrow it's off to DC!
4) Anything you are looking forward to?
I know it sounds vain, but getting my skin/body back. I am tired of these changes. My skin has blown up! So has my stomach. I'll post a 7 month picture in a couple weeks, and it will be ridiculous.
5) How many weeks are you now?
I am 26 weeks and some days. It is CRAZY. I can't believe there are only 14 more weeks to go!
6) Do you have any stretch marks or new symptoms developing?
I do not YET have any stretch marks. I have been putting lotion on my stomach and hips every night. Who knows if it works? I've also heard that I should start putting lanolin on my nipples, which I'll probably start when we get home on Sunday. As far as symptoms... Nothing crazy besides my skin acting like it's 14 again. Sometimes I can eat big meals, sometimes I have to eat smaller meals. When I lay down, the baby smashes my lungs, so I have to take shallower breaths. I've got some red spots on my stomach sometimes, kind of like heat rash. No itching though. I'm worried it might become PUPPs or whatever that is.
7) Has DH felt the baby move?
YES. Baby has been noticeably kicking since 18 weeks, so he's tired of feeling it move, probably.

Wow, it's been a while since I last updated, so glad to hear everyone seems to be doing well!
My work has been keeping me busy, my main project has really taken off, which is great, but this past week I had to go out on a field visit, which involved spending 5 hours standing on the side of a very hot, humid road in the sun. I have got to remember to be more careful, as I clearly don't have the stamina or physical abilities I'm used to!
I'll play along with questions!
1) Are you hoping to increase or keep up with exercise now that we are in the middle/end of the second tri?
The first half of my pregnancy I was just so exhausted, I did nothing. I've re-started swimming laps a few times a week, and it has felt so great! I'm nowhere near as fast as I was pre-preg, but I'm just paddling away, and I'm loving it. I do take public transit to and from work, so I am usually walking about 20-30 mins each day as well.
2) How are you sleeping?
I'm trying to do the pillow between the knees thing, which is working to keep me on my side, most of the time. I still wake up on my back, but if I don't feel dizzy or faint, is it so bad? Still getting up to pee around 2 times each night.
3) Any babymoon plans?
We're going to Southern California in about 2 weeks, and will spend time in San Diego and Orange County visiting family and doing touristy things- I've never been to that area of the country, so I'm excited.
4) Anything you are looking forward to?
A healthy baby! I can be a little bit of a worrier sometimes, so I'll just be so happy when she's here and we know that she's safe and healthy. It's also starting to get uncomfortable to bend down and tie my shoes, so it'll also be nice to be able to do that without the undignified grunting.
How many weeks are you now?
24w3d
Do you have any stretch marks or new symptoms developing?
I'm really prone to stretch marks as well, so while I haven't noticed any new ones, so I'm just waiting it out- they'll appear soon enough!
Has DH felt the baby move?
Yes! Her movements aren't always noticeable from the outside, I think because she's still breech. She was breech at the anatomy scan, and I'm still feeling kicks internally and very low- like direct kicks to the bladder, which is fun! But those can be pretty subtle from the outside.

Hi all,
I know it has been awhile since I posted, but I've been reading along regularly - so awesome to see the bump pics! Baby girl is doing fine for now, due date is back to 10/15, knowing that she'll likely be late. I've been extremely sick for the past couple of weeks with some serious pain in my upper right torso - after a million tests the doctors think gallbladder is the culprit but we still aren't sure. My liver enzymes are high, which is freaking everyone out (including me!) But enough of that, I'll answer the questions that were recently posted!
1) Are you hoping to increase or keep up with exercise now that we are in the middle/end of the second tri?
I'd love to increase exercise, considering I'm doing none right now - the less I move the better!
2) How are you sleeping?
Terribly, the pain keeps me awake all night - BUT, it is good practice for when baby gets here - I'm getting used to sleeping 30 - 45 minutes at a time!
3) Any babymoon plans?
We did a trip to NY and two trips to Maine, with one more coming up (all with family or friends)
4) Anything you are looking forward to?
My appointment with the surgeon tomorrow morning to make a final decision with whether or not surgery makes sense while pregnant (I am terrified of this, but also want to make a decision!). And baby getting here!!
More questions:
How many weeks are you now? 23+6
Do you have any stretch marks or new symptoms developing?
No stretch marks yet!
Has DH felt the baby move?
Just once. I feel her inside all the time, but it is rare that she can be felt on the outside...though she likes to jiggle my kindle around when I'm reading in bed and resting it on my belly!

@cyndistar3: beautiful gender reveal!
@Rocker2014: I'm sorry you are in so much pain and having a tough time, are you getting surgery? How scary when you are pregnant. I sympathise on the pain front, my pelvic bones splitting cause me terrible pain sleeping at night, but thankfully in the day I'm much better with a support belt on. I really feel for you.
4 boys, 7 girls, 6 team green, quite a nice balance! Soooo looking forward to coming on here 12-16 weeks from now and reading all our birth/baby stories. How exciting a time it will be in this thread!
I absaloutely cannot believe I only have 13+weeks to go, it felt like the first trimester took a lifetime to be over and now I can't believe how fast it's going!
persimmon / 1367 posts
@MrsTartan: I sympathize with you also- in pain while pregnant is no fun! Right now we're holding off on surgery, the super low fat diet is helping the pain. Neither the baby nor I are at risk with it staying in right now, so unless it gets worse or something starts to cause a risk I'm going to try to tough it out for the next 16 weeks and shoot for surgery after delivering.
Upside: I now know the best fat free ice cream brands! (Hood Wildberry sherbet for the win!)
kiwi / 745 posts
Does anyone else have a support belt? I think I'm going to need one pretty soon, but they are pretty pricey and I want to make sure I get a good one. Also, does anyone have the spanx? I was thinking the support belt would show a lot under my work maternity dresses (which are a thin jersey) but that the spanx/maternity shapewear might be a good alternative.
We picked a color scheme for the nursery and are starting to move full steam ahead on making space in the nursery for the baby. Things are getting real!
kiwi / 600 posts
@Rocker2014: Glad you should be able to hold off on surgery until AFTER the baby is born. Good luck to you!
@Ms.Mermaid: I've never even SEEN a support belt before...but maybe it's something I should look into, as well. I'd love to hear more about your nursery, too!
So we officially booked our newborn photographer a couple days ago, and I'm super excited about it. She was running a special where she'd take $50 off the session fee AND add in a mini-maternity session if we booked by the end of June, so I couldn't resist! I also booked a 2-yr session for my son, and she gave me 15% off that, as well. I've been following her on Facebook ever since, and I'm pretty excited about what I've seen so far. I was a bit disappointed by my son's newborn photos, so I'm hopeful these will live up to my expectations!
Also, just quick update on from my appointment on Friday. My cervix is down to 2cm, which is right on the cusp of seeking medical treatment or not... Since the doctor said there is no harm in trying it, we decided to go ahead with the progesterone treatments. He initially described it as a "progesterone shot," so I assumed it was like a vaccination...that I'd just need to get a shot in the butt and be done with it, lol. Unfortunately, that's not the case. It's a suppository that needs to be inserted every night until 36 weeks! UGH. Does anyone have any experience with this? It's making me slightly anxious...I forgot to ask about possible side effects.
Otherwise, all is well. I'm feeling pretty good, and the baby was measuring right on track, maybe even a few days ahead. They estimated that it's about 1lb 9oz right now...kinda crazy to think that there's a nearly 2lb baby inside me! I still don't feel THAT pregnant yet, but at 25 weeks, I guess I am! Lol.
GOLD / squash / 13576 posts
@bunnylovesbear: I'm a December momma but I started progesterone suppositories at 15 weeks because my son was born at 34 weeks. As for side effects, it has made my pregnancy symptoms worse. It's not that bad though, I do it every night before bed.
kiwi / 656 posts
@Ms.Mermaid: I've been wearing a support belt for a couple of weeks now, lovely to wear as feel like it lifts all bump weight off my lower spine/pelvis. You could definitely see it if you were wearing something tight fitting though. I sit down for work all day so it's no use for that as bunches up (as would anything supportive round your hips I guess). I wear it when I'm walking or at home on my feet, under jeans and a tshirt you can't see it.
@bunnylovesbear: rubbish that your cervix has shortened even more, might they offer a cerclage instead? I guess you must be breathing a sigh of relief past the 24 week mark though, I felt much better then after the "survival date". Your photography package sounds fab. How cute, how many days/weeks will LO be when you get it?
@Rocker2014: glad you are feeling better, I hope you stay pain free for as long as possible.
GOLD / squash / 13576 posts
@Mrs tartan: a cervlage is only offered after suppositories. My friend had one and they only gave it to her when progesterone wasn't working.
kiwi / 600 posts
@littlek: Kinda gross, but I read there could be leakage during the day. Did this happen with you?
@Mrs tartan: They didn't mention anything about a cerclage yet. I think since I'm already past the 24 week mark, it might be too late for that? The doctor left the decision for the progesterone up to me. Said there wasnt much research done starting it this late in a pregnancy, but it couldn't hurt to give it a try. Typically, they recommend it if you are < 2cm between 15-23 weeks... I am EXACTLY 2cm at 25 weeks. Since there was no risk, I figured the slight inconvenience of the nightly suppositories was worth the chance that it could help prevent preterm labor. I still suspect a late Sept arrival, though...
As for the photo session, she recommends before 10 days old. So once the baby is born, I'm supposed to email her to set something up right away. It may be a little difficult since I'll be having a c-section, so I'll be in the hospital longer than a typical birth, but I'm sure it will all work out. My son was just over 2 weeks when we had his done, and he didn't sleep as much as I would have liked during the session, so I really want to get in there as early as possible. She currently brainstorming something fun she can do to match our Beatles-themed nursery, so I'm excited to see what she comes up with. She has all sorts of cool props. Here are a couple of her pics that I love. Hopefully these images aren't huge...I'm not sure how to resize them!

@bunnylovesbear: Sorry to hear about your cervix shortening suppositories don't sound like much fun at all I hear ya on the not feeling that pregnant though, I feel like last time was worse. That's crazy to think your baby is nearly 2lbs, at my ultrasound they guessed her to be about 15oz as she is measuring a couple weeks behind at this point
it makes no sense because I have had two big babies so far but I guess I'll hear more about the ultrasound on Thursday. Also, those photos are adorable!!!

@bunnylovesbear: I hope the progesterone isn't too bad. I love the photos from your photographer! I can't wait to see how ours come out in a few weeks.
@Rocker2014: Sorry to hear about your health issues! I hope you aren't in too much pain during the rest of the pregnancy and that you can schedule the surgery for soon after the baby is born.
@Ms.Mermaid: No support belt here so I can't help with any recommendations. I didn't need one with DS but I already feel so big with this baby, I may end up wanting one this time around.
I finally got around to ordering the crib, dresser, and bedding so I'm feeling a little better about my lack of progress on the nursery. lol. Hoping that we can move the furniture out of the room sometime this month and then start putting things together in August. I feel like I still have so much time, but in reality, 14 weeks is going to fly by!

@bunnylovesbear: Boo on the news on your cervix, I'm so sorry to hear that, and I hope the progesterone makes a difference! Those newborn photos look adorable, though!
@Rocker2014: Great to hear an update on how things are going with you! I hope that things are manageable with your gallbladder pain for the next few weeks- not so long to go now!
@bushelandapeck: I hear you on feeling good about getting somewhere on the nursery! I feel like I've done nowhere near enough, and that I'll wait too long and will be too big and unable to move, and then nothing will ever get done!
We finally decided on a paint color for the nursery, and DH completely shocked me by choosing a really vibrant aqua color- he's usually a pretty subdued guy, but he looked at the paint chip and said that it looked "fun," so aqua it is! Now just to get moving on getting the rest of my junk out of the spare room so we can paint!
Still feeling pretty good at 25 weeks over here, although I'm beginning to feel self-conscious about the belly over here- I feel like I'm really bigger than I should be at this point, but I think that's probably just because I have a really short torso. Still peeing every 10 minutes, it seems. At my cousin's birthday party over the weekend, a lady (who I don't even know) saw me returning to the restroom again, and asked me, "Do you have to pee a lot?" When I confirmed, she volunteered this gem: "Well, it never goes back to the way it was before!"
Gee, thanks, lady. That's just what I needed to hear.
Looks like the peanut gallery comments have started!

I'm hoping the progesterone isn't too bad, either. I'm picking it up from the pharmacy in a couple hours, so tonight will be my first application.
@bushelandapeck: Good work on ordering your new nursery furniture! you're a step ahead of us. We're only planning on getting a second convertible crib since the kiddos are sharing a bedroom, but my MIL offered to purchase it for us. She hasn't yet, and I'm a little unsure how to approach the situation... How do you ask someone if they are still planning to buy a $600 crib for you?! Lol. I'm going to make my husband address it soon, though. I'd like to get it set up sooner than later.
@Ms.Pumpkin: I think a bright aqua color DOES sound fun! Do you have a theme picked out yet? And I hear you on the pee issue - I've been in the same boat for the past couple weeks. Not fun.
kiwi / 630 posts
@bunnylovesbear: I'm sorry about the progesterone but glad there is a plan in place for you! Those newborn photos are too cute!
@Rocker2014: Glad you're doing better! I had my gall bladder removed two years ago - they do it laproscopically (not sure if that's a word lol, and the recovery was very easy!)
@bushelandapeck: yay for nursery planning! We have the crib and dresser built but no mattress and several pieces of furniture we're storing at my in-laws that need to be moved out. It's exciting to see the room take shape though!
@Ms.Pumpkin: Aqua is definitely a "fun" color! I have a few pops of aqua in our nursery, as well Ugh, I can't believe that lady said that to you. It amazes me that people are always compelled to share the negative comments. It's like some sort of new mom hazing ritual or something!!! Also, I'm sure your belly looks perfect!
Has anyone registered yet? We did a couple of weeks ago but are trying to keep the gear to a minimum since we live in an urban environment and are limited in space. The list of "must haves" for baby and registry was shockingly long!!!
pomelo / 5720 posts
@bunnylovesbear: I just remembered that I need to buy a mattress too! Ugh. Better get on that! I would definitely have your DH mention it to his mom if they offered to buy it for you. We had a similar offer for DS that didn't end up panning out and I was so stressed out in the end!
@cmbknyc: We won't be registering this time since we already had a shower with #1. I do have an amazon wish list but it['s private and more for me so I know what we still need to buy. If someone asks, I will probably let them see the list but tell them we don't really need anything. We got so many things for DS, and all of them will be in use again with this LO. I would suggest going gender neutral if you can, so that you can reuse if you decide to have another one someday.
pomegranate / 3980 posts
@cmbknyc: I am having a hard time with the whole registry thing... my friend is insisting on throwing me a shower and everyone keeps asking if I made a registry yet. But this is number 3 and I don't want to ask for anything but people keep telling me that it only makes it harder for them if they don't know what I need/ want. Do I just make one anyways?
pomelo / 5720 posts
@cyndistar3: My mom is insisting on throwing a shower as well, despite my protests. I plan on showing her the list we have on Amazon, but have also told her I would prefer to just have a shower with family and that having people decorate onesies at the shower (or something along those lines) would be more than enough.
apricot / 435 posts
@cmbknyc: I've started a registry (actually 2, because a friend of mine said that it is good to give people a choice of where to go for convenience), but yeah. I'm totally overwhelmed at the amount of stuff they say you need! Some friends have volunteered to look over the lists to give me their perspective on what we might be able to get by without.
So how is baby movement going for people? Last night I was reading an online pregnancy calendar (http://alphamom.com/pregnancy-calendar-overview/ if you're interested, I find it entertaining, and a bit easier to take than the endless fruit comparisons), and this is what she said at week 26:
"Remember those early bubbly butterfly kicks? Yeah. Those have been replaced by something akin to a rabid mongoose flippin’ out inside a burlap sack."
That's where we're getting to on my end, last night I swear she was trying to bust out! Those kicks and shifts are definitely getting stronger!

@littlek: So I started the progesterone last night. Did you have any side effects? I've been feeling crampy all afternoon. Would love to hear more about your experience. Also, if you don't mind sharing, why did your doctor recommend progesterone?
GOLD / squash / 13576 posts
@bunnylovesbear: the progesterone made me nauseous and dizzy. I'm starting to get used to it though. I'm on progesterone because my son was born at 34 weeks. I stated at 15 weeks, it's preventive.

@Ms.Pumpkin: A rabid mongoose sounds about right. When we were in DC, we watched "The Lion King" musical at Kennedy Center... the baby was literally flipping out anytime there were a lot of drums or noise going on.
@cmbknyc: We registered via Amazon, but I'm wondering how many people will actually use that option. I'm hoping a lot because our options here are very limited (only one store on island even sells nipple cream, and they are always sold out). None of the stores here even sell gender neutral clothing, so I'm wondering if that's actually something we'll have to buy a lot of ourselves.

My suggestion would be to have the advice cards/book and one, maybe two, other crafts because people are going to want to mingle, watch you open gifts, and eat, and structured activities/crafts will take some time. I've been to showers where they had one or two craft-type things and then a few games (guess the number of candy in a jar, word puzzle, etc) and that seemed to go over well.

@bushelandapeck: I think I'm thinking of it more like stations, rather than structured activities, so people can pick and choose what they'd like to participate in, rather than "Alright, EVERYONE we're making onesies now, OK we're all going to do this button thing, etc etc" Do you think stations would be less overwhelming?

@mrskoloa: I think you could definitely do that. We did a painting craft at my shower and some people wanted to participate, many did not, and chose to mingle instead. I think it totally depends on the group and how much work you want to put into planning it. I had a coed shower and we really wanted to have it be very informal and more like a bbq with friends and family, which is also why we didn't opt to do more structured things.
