@Mrs tartan: That is such a sweet nursery! And amazing progress on it!

@bunnylovesbear: I know what you mean- we ended up putting our 3D scan on the fridge, and I sometimes catch DH looking at it as well!

We ended up painting with a REALLY vibrant aqua- I was kind of nervous at first, as it's not really the most serene choice for a bedroom, but I really do love it. If baby girl ends up with a fondness for really loud colors when she grows up, we'll know where it comes from! This was taken just after the paint went up, so please excuse the tape and random stuff scattered about. We still have to paint the trim, radiators, and doors white, but that'll happen sometime this week, probably by DH while I'm at work.

@Ms.Pumpkin: ooh...I LOVE it! My daughter's room used to be the same color! My husband called it cotton candy blue. Lol. Or maybe it was bubble him blue? I forget...he hated it and thought I was nuts for letting her choose the color. I think it's fantastic!

@bunnylovesbear: it was SF but he didn't get the job. I'm actually quite relieved as I wasn't sure how I would handle telling my family. I lived in Montana for a few years and it was devastating for my mother. I'm happy that we will be staying, at least for the time being

@Ms.Pumpkin: I love the blue! So bright and cheerful!

Everyone's nurseries look so cute! I wish we could paint in our house but since we are renting we aren't allowed to so we are going the decal route on the beige walls. I love that blue @Ms.Pumpkin: !!

I'm sitting here at the hospital again waiting to do my 3 hour glucose test... I failed the 1 hour by 2 points!!! It came back at 132 and, while some labs use 140 as the cut off, I guess my doctor uses 130. So I just started it and I'm getting ready to take the sugary drink. Ugh.

@cyndistar3: love this one too! I'm on a search for the perfect white maxi dress for my maternity shoot...

  9. cyndistar3

@bunnylovesbear: I was having such a hard time finding any maxi anything that I liked and finally settled on that one from target... the struggle is real when you are pregnant!

@cyndistar3: I hear ya! I found a couple on macys.com, but they're a bit more than i was hoping to spend. Because really, when else will I wear a long white dress?? Ha. and besides, the website wasn't really cooperating with me, so maybe that's a sign.

I might check out Target tomorrow...I ordered some diapers online that I need to go pick up, so I may as well!

Oh and since I'm still awake, here's a sneak peek of Johnny's pics:

@cyndistar3: Wow, lady! You look gorgeous! The first one is very Earth-Mother/Goddess, but I love the second one as well- and am totally jealous- before I chopped off all my hair, I could NEVER get it to do anything like what yours is doing!

@bunnylovesbear: Those are just great photos- he looks like such a character!

Man, all of these photo shoots make me wonder whether I should have been better at taking bump photos! Haha! I'm going to have to try to grab a few these next few weeks, just so I can prove to LO that I was actually pregnant with her at some point!

    @cyndistar3: You look amazing!

@bunnylovesbear: Oh he is so cute! I love the paint idea, that looks like fun

@Ms.Pumpkin: Thank you I have been working on growing my hair out for about a year now but I am debating getting it thinned again... it also helps when there is a professional hair dresser there I didn't do maternity pics for my first 2 and I wouldn't have done it this time either but my photographer friend wanted to experiment haha. I'm so glad I went though, they turned out way better than I expected!

@cyndistar3: You look so beautiful!! I don't think I'm going to do professional pictures, maybe I will have my sister take some. But yours are amazing!

    @bunnylovesbear: What a cutie!

@bushelandapeck: I love these pictures! I can't wait to have family portraits done

How is everyone feeling? Third trimester is starting out okay for me, though I am more tired and sore. And I am taking on a whole bunch of projects at once, it seems. I just can't wait until Tuesday so I can be done with this semester and have some time not devoted to school!

  16. cyndistar3

    pomegranate / 3980 posts

@Mrs.Panda: I definitely wouldn't have done professional ones if she didn't offer to do them for free! I'm too broke to do that! lol

As far as 3rd trimester goes I am surviving fairly well so far, I've had pubic pain from hell and feel like I am getting tired again but other than that I am just getting impatient!

  17. ottilie

    cherry / 143 posts

Great pictures, everyone! I've definitely never felt less like having my picture taken in my life, but you guys look lovely.

As for 3rd trimester...definitely feeling tired and sore- I had terrible leg cramps the other night that woke me up and were pretty painful, and I can't remember the last time I slept through the night. None of that is too bad, really, though, so I'm going to try to enjoy the next 10 weeks. We've had a lot of other stressful stuff going on - my husband is finishing his Masters and so handing in his dissertation in 2 weeks and I can't WAIT for that to be done hanging over our heads. I'm practically counting down the days. He's been working on it for almost a year, and it's always been that huge block we need to get over before we can just look forward to having a baby.

So I'm looking forward to two weeks from tomorrow, when he can hand that in, and then in September my mother is coming to visit, and that will be nice.

  18. Mrs.Panda

    nectarine / 2358 posts

@cyndistar3: I'm having pubic pain and more round ligament pain, too. It will come as an electric shock! Luckily I have a long torso so baby has room to grow up and I haven't had any kicks to the ribs yet, but she still has 12 weeks to get up in there. Whoa, just typing that out is crazy that there is still 3 solid months left for me!

Some days I get impatient for her to come and others I get really nervous as this is our first one. So much change and so much to do. We haven't even found a daycare!

  19. cyndistar3

    pomegranate / 3980 posts

@Mrs.Panda: Oh yea the round ligament pain gets me too! I have the same luck as you with a long torso so I haven't been kicked in the ribs yet but I am "dying" to be kicked in the ribs as that would mean a not breech baby! We are 2/3 of the way there, it's so crazy sometimes it feels like forever but then I look at how fast time has been going and I know it's going to come sooner than I think.

  20. Ms.Pumpkin

    apricot / 435 posts

@Mrs.Panda: How did your 3-hour test go? Do you find out at the time, or do you have to wait? How frustrating to have to go through that for 2 points! And I know what you mean about it feeling too far away and yet too soon at the same time! I'm so ready to meet this baby, and yet having this responsibility for another person scares the living heck out of me!

I'm almost 30 weeks over here, and I think the big "Third Trimester" switch has been flipped- I'm definitely more sore and achy, especially in my back- my OB recommended getting one of the pregnancy support belts if it keeps bothering me, but I don't know- does anybody else use one? Has it helped? Last night my back was killing me, but it felt much better when I woke up.

But the biggest thing is that I'm just suuuper cranky lately! I usually have a pretty long fuse, and don't get too angry at people, but I've had to bite my tongue several times in the past few days, and I'm not too happy with myself about that! How do I get my normal disposition back?!

I honestly can't tell what position she's in either (and neither could my OB just from a feel, I think it's too early.)- from the kicks I've been feeling, I think that I'm actually gestating an octopus, because I feel her everywhere. But I think she's moved out of breech position, because she's no longer kicking my cervix? Thank you, baby!

@ottilie: I hear you, sister. I avoid cameras now! Especially since someone told me recently that my face looked rounder. AH!

@Mrs.Panda: Oh no! The three-hour test! I hated it!

@Ms.Pumpkin: I have been really cranky, too, lately. I think it's because of my poor-quality sleep. My husband turned a light off last night to turn on another light in the kitchen, and the second light had a little delay before it turned on, and I had taken a HUGE breath in to start berating him... when it came on and I realized what a snap-case I was.

Third trimester has definitely not been as fun as second trimester. I feel huge. I look huge. My body is a little more achy. I feel more tired, and toss and turn for a large part of the night. I have a dr. appt today, and I think he might make me get the whooping cough vaccine... I didn't even know people still get whooping cough, but I guess it's a big deal.

  22. Mrs tartan

@Ms.Pumpkin: Love your aqua nursery, are you matching another colour with it for bits and pieces or sticking with aqua and white? I have a support belt, if you are on your feet all day it will help. I bought mine for spd and as I sit all day at a desk it was no use and just bunched up. I really haven't worn it since I bought it as I found it restricted my already sore joints which made it worse. If you can get one cheap or borrow I'd recommend if you are on your feet a lot.
@bushelandapeck: glad you are getting to stay where you are, how is your DH feeling about not getting the job? Your beach pics are stunning, you look like a lovely family.
@cyndistar3: your maternity pics are gorgeous! You look glowing!
@bunnylovesbear: your LO is such a cutie, what beautiful coloured eyes, are they hazel?
@Mrs.Panda: third trimester! How crazy is it, I feel like I just joined this board. Not long until you are finished up, is that you on maternity leave after tues? Did you pass the second test?

I cannot believe I have just over 8 weeks to go! I'm pretty sure baby has now turned down, the difference I feel is amazing. The last few weeks I have been so short of breath and had no space in my belly. I couldn't fit a flat hand between my boobs and my belly. 2 days ago after some severe braxton hicks (which made me call the midwife they were so frequent!) I had a sleep and woke up like a new person. Nothing hurts, I can breath and walk again!
Don't get me wrong I still have leg cramps, now need to pee constantly and get heartburn but I'm so hoping this more comfortable stage lasts a while with my pelvis, it was really taking its toll. Tiredness hasn't hit either, good job as another 4 weeks of full time work ahead.

@mrskoloa: i got made to get my whooping cough vaccine at 28 weeks, it's the only vaccine I didn't like. The vaccine itself was no problem but 2 days later it got really sore. Only for a day or two but midwife said it was all normal. Thankfully that seems to be the last of them including bloods taken. I did not realise how many needles are involved in pregnancy! Good luck.

@mrs koloa, I was told to get the whooping cough vaccine. I'm getting it on Tuesday.... Apparently it is recommend in the UK because they've had cases of newborn deaths. I've heard it can make your arm pretty sore afterwards so I'm not looking forward to getting it.

I'm 30 weeks today...feeling huge and dreading how much bigger I still need to get over the next 10 weeks. Crazy.

@bushelandapeck: Those pictures are so sweet. I love the one where you are holding Charlie up in the air!

@cyndistar3: The paint idea was all the photographer's idea. My Johnny was her first client to try it out. I imagine she was slightly disappointed because he doesn't like to get messy. We were trying to get him to use his finger or put some paint on his face, and he thought we were nuts! Haha.

@ottilie: I hear you on the leg cramps...oh man, do I hear you on the leg cramps. I've been suffering from a combo of what I think is restless leg syndrome and cramps. sooo not fun.

@Mrs tartan: Yes, I'd say his eyes are hazel at this point. They were blue for the whole first year of his life, but they've slowly been turning brown. My husband has brown eyes, and I have green eyes (blue as a kid). I'm hoping they stay this cool "in between" hazel color.

No whooping cough vaccination for me yet. My next well-check is Monday afternoon, so maybe my doctor will mention it then. I did have to get the Rhogam (sp?) shot last week. Needles don't bother me, so it was easy...the worst part is that they make you wait 20 mins before they allow you to leave in case you have a reaction. blahhh.

Overall, I've been feeling pretty good lately. Went into work a couple times over the past week or two to start organizing my classroom. I figure I may as well take advantage while I'm feeling somewhat energetic. Besides, I enjoy the quiet of an empty classroom.

Anything exciting going on this weekend for anyone? We're hosting my son's 2nd birthday party on Sunday. He just turned two on 7/31...I CANNOT believe he's already two years old!

  26. bushelandapeck

@Mrs tartan: thank you! DH is also relieved I think. Lot sounded great for a while but the more he's thinking about the logistics of it all, the more he realizes how difficult it would have been for all of us, especially given the timing of having this new little one. We are doing a ton of work to our house as well, so it's nice to now we will actually be able to enjoy it now!

@bunnylovesbear: thank you! I was going to ask about Js birthday party! Charlie's is next Saturday. I cannot believe they are already 2! I hope the party is great

Sorry to hear everyone is having a hard time with the leg cramps, etc. I haven't noticed them too bad just yet but I am having pretty terrible insomnia and some pain when I go from sitting too long to standing. Not SPD but weird pain in my pubic area. Ouch! I've also had a few real contractions but my OB said even one per hour isn't a big deal so long as they don't progress. She said it's typical if you've had a baby already. Otherwise, nothing crazy from my 30w appt. going every 3 weeks now until 36w, then it will be weekly. I have to get the TDap shot at my next appt as they are recommending women have it for every pregnancy now.

I finally cleaned our most of the nursery yesterday so there's room to start assembling furniture. Woohoo! Hoping to convince DH to start putting it together with me this weekend since we are home and have no real plans. I'll take some before pics if I think of it today! Hope everyone has a great weekend!

I haven't posted on this thread in ages, I'm sorry ladies! I'm just...ugh, I've been very down. I made another thread recently that pretty much sums it up: http://boards.hellobee.com/topic/hating-how-this-pregnancy-is-going#post-1787692

I hope the 3 hr test goes better for the rest of you who have to take it than it did for me. I've pretty much been having a pity party all week. Cutting yourself off caffeine and sugar while dealing with a teething toddler and being in your 3rd trimester of pregnancy is no joke!

@Ms.Pumpkin: That is almost the exact color that our nursery currently is...except we're getting ready to paint over it, haha! Not because I dislike it, I think it's awesome and actually had my bedroom painted that color as a teen. It just doesn't mesh with my theme for the nursery.

We're almost done shopping for the nursery! It's almost cleaned out, I just need to clear off the bookshelf in there, get rid of the old desktop computer and desk we have in there (no one ever uses it anyways), and relocate a couple of storage totes. Then we get to paint! I can't wait to share pictures when it's done.

  28. Mrs.Panda

@Mrs tartan: Oh no I'll probably work up until my EDD Oct 25 or maybe a week before. Can't afford to go out any earlier! It would be nice though and I will be getting the pertussis vaccine later on because I work in a hospital. Flu shot too.

I called my doctor and the receptionist looked and said she thinks my glucose results came back fine. She said if the doctor found something alarming he'd call me, but he didn't so I guess I'm fine. Annoyed I took the test at all!

I am having a hard time sleeping but I'm not sure if it's hormones or what. The baby isn't making me uncomfortable or anything so I'm not sure what to make of it.

    pomelo / 5720 posts

@wonderstruck: I'm so sorry you have to go through all the GD stuff have you spoken to the nutritionist yet? That would be so tough to manage with a toddler and a fear of needles, as you described. I can only hope the next couple of months goes by quickly for you!

  30. Mrs tartan

    kiwi / 656 posts

@wonderstruck: sorry you are having a sucky time, I hope your last trimester flies past and you both stay as healthy as can be.
@Mrs.Panda: is it just insomnia? I get random nights of this when I'm not uncomfy but just struggle to sleep. Weird!

  31. wonderstruck

    pomegranate / 3791 posts

@bushelandapeck: I haven't spoken with the nutritionist yet, that's another thing I'm stressing about - my doctor made a big deal about me getting this test done ASAP because he said it is sooooo important to get it under control and do all of this stuff if I do have GD. Now I've been diagnosed for nearly a week and haven't heard a word from them. I'm trying to make healthy changes in the meantime - eating chicken over red meat, replacing our white bread with whole grain wheat, weaning myself completely off pop (this is the tough one - I'm not a coffee drinker but am a huge pop addict,) eating regular meals and snacks even when I'm having morning sickness or acid reflux issues, avoiding sweets, stocking up on fruits and veggies, etc. But no one has given me any instructions, they just said to eat healthier and go pick up my blood sugar monitor from the pharmacy.

The blood sugar monitoring is the part that really terrifies me, but since the nutritionist that is supposed to give me instructions on it hasn't even bothered returning my phone calls, I haven't started using it yet.

  32. bushelandapeck

    pomelo / 5720 posts

@wonderstruck: Sounds like you've made some great changes to your diet that should help, even if they haven't given you any direction yet. How frustrating! I can't believe they aren't even calling you back...

We managed to get the crib and most of the dresser put together during DS nap yesterday! The crib was a breeze, but the dresser was a real PITA. I will be buying pre-assembled dressers from now on! lol. I pulled out some of the baby stuff we had in storage too (bouncer, RnP, swing) and need to make sure it's all cleaned. It's amazing how much space all of those things take up!

  33. wonderstruck

    pomegranate / 3791 posts

@bushelandapeck: Good call on making sure the RnP and stuff is clean - that's something I've totally spaced on but definitely need to get done! And dresser assembly is a total PITA! DH and I don't do furniture assembly well together, generally I handle it but the nursery furniture is all on him. I want to paint the dresser though, I need to get the design taped off so he can paint it and let it dry before putting it all together. This is what it's going to look like:

  34. bushelandapeck

    pomelo / 5720 posts

@wonderstruck: I love that dresser! Ours is just plain white right now. I'm thinking about changing our the knobs, so there's a little pop of color at least. I assume the knobs are standard size but I have no idea! I guess I should figure that out first.

I need to pull out the carseat as well, and want to try to have it professionally cleaned, if possible. I know they are a pain to take apart but that's something I definitely want to do. The to-do list just keeps growing!

  35. Mrs.Panda

    nectarine / 2358 posts

@wonderstruck: oh my gosh I LOVE that design! Super cute I wish I got white furniture looking back but I went with a cherry finish on the crib since it was on sale before we knew what we were having. And I'm sorry about the GD issues you are going through, I surprised they haven't given you any guidance on it. You can always check out links such as

    http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/007430.htm
and through the American Diabetes Association to get a head start, though it looks like you've made some positive changes already. My mother and brother have had diabetes for a long time and now my father was just recently diagnosed so I know a lot about the disease (unfortunately). It also puts me at a higher risk of getting it I know you are scared to get the glucose monitor and start checking your sugars, but it's an important step in making sure your glucose levels don't go too high or too low. I see the effects of both extremes at work and it's a scary thing. If you have any questions at all, let me know, I do lots of diabetes education with my patients.

@bushelandapeck: That's a great idea to change out the knobs! I think I'm going to try to do that to lighten up the look of my dark dresser.

  36. wonderstruck

    pomegranate / 3791 posts

@Mrs.Panda: Choosing colors/finishes for the furniture can be tough! Really, a darker wood would've suited my theme better, but I already have a white crib from my first son and I'm not about to buy another just to change the color!

I've been reading up on the GD stuff like crazy. My dad was diagnosed with diabetes last year, but his has been easily controlled through medication and small diet changes, so he doesn't really have much experience with the glucose monitors. I'm confused about my numbers right now because there was so much inconsistency to them - looking at the four numbers from my GD test, one was borderline (like a point or two above where they wanted it to be), one was high (about 20 points above normal), one was normal, and the last one was dangerously low to the point where they called me really concerned to make sure I wasn't driving myself home and to tell me to get something to eat ASAP. So it was just kind of all over the place. I'm really frustrated that it's a full week later and the dietician hasn't called me - I've called them twice and have been completely blown off. And of course my doctor is on vacation right now!

  37. Mrs.Panda

    nectarine / 2358 posts

@wonderstruck: Were the numbers in the order that you listed? A lot of doctor's offices will diagnose GD based on the 2-hour results and if yours was 20 above normal, I can see why they diagnosed you. But, how low was your 3 hour result? That is kind of concerning.

  38. wonderstruck

    pomegranate / 3791 posts

@Mrs.Panda: Yes that is in order (fasting, 1 hr, 2 hr, then 3 hr), so I understand the diagnosis, but the 3hr result was a 51. I could definitely tell my blood sugar was really low at that point, I was feeling really shaky and sick.

  39. Mrs.Panda

    nectarine / 2358 posts

@wonderstruck: Can your doctor's office refer you to another nutritionist? Or can you choose your own through your insurance? The fact that you got an almost critically low glucose at the 3 hour mark is pretty abnormal and they should be following up with you! Have you felt like your sugar has dropped really low again since then? Try to keep crackers, some hard candy or something similar with a small amount of carbs/sugar on hand in case you do. Especially if you are going somewhere by yourself. I know you probably know all of that, but I'm a worry wart

  40. wonderstruck

    pomegranate / 3791 posts

@Mrs.Panda: I'm going to talk to them about all of that tomorrow at my doctor's appointment, but honestly it's a relief to hear that it is abnormal! That might sound weird, but ever since I saw the numbers I've been feeling confused and uneasy about that, and the way the nurses at my doctor's office have been blowing me off plus the nutritionist not even calling me back yet...I don't know, I guess I've just been second-guessing myself a lot. I will definitely make sure I have something in the diaper bag at all times in case I start to feel that way again - luckily I'd read advice to bring something to eat right after the test, so I was able to eat some graham crackers and apple juice right away. I haven't felt that way again to the same extreme level, but since making all of these diet changes I have had times where right before I'm almost due for another snack or meal I start to feel a bit shaky.

ETA: I'm actually calling my doctor's office right now to follow up on this again (third time now that I've called them...) and hopefully since it's been a full week since my test/diagnosis and I STILL haven't heard back, maybe they'll be more helpful. If not, much as I like my doctor, something is going to have to change.
