@Mrs tartan: Wow, 2 hours of breastfeeding chat?? That does seem like overkill! And I certainly don't agree with what they said, I had to supplement with formula with dd#1 because I went back to school and she turned out just fine! I do certainly plan on breastfeeding because I had great experiences so far but I don't think it is the end of the world if it doesn't work out

I went to the OB today and my fundal height was good and he confirmed I passed my GTT, but when the doctor went to check baby out on ultrasound she was transverse and her femur measured 3 weeks behind. Now I have to get a fetal growth ultrasound on Thursday. Anyone else have anything like this? He said it was likely her position or just the +/- span on the machine, but I'm still concerned.

@Mrs.Panda: When I had my anatomy scan I was measuring weeks behind but I think it was just due to position and poor image quality. Hope that is the case for you!

@Mrs.Panda: I have a growth ultrasound tomorrow, but it's because of the gestational diabetes. Hoping it goes well for both of us!
@Mrs tartan: I loathe breastfeeding advocates with that kind of attitude. It's all about what is best for baby, and making mom feel like shit and cause her to have a total stressful guilt trip if for whatever reason she needs to supplement with formula is certainly NOT best for baby!
I'm jealous of you ladies that got babymoons! We went on a long weekend to Chicago in June, but since we had our 1 year old with us it was fun, but totally the opposite of relaxing. Before he was born we went to Myrtle Beach for like 3 days, but we haven't been on a real vacation (is it weird that I don't count it as a real vacation unless it's close to a week long?) since our honeymoon! Maybe next summer.
My big complaints (well, other than the gestational diabetes stuff) are actually the same exact ones I had with DS1 - my back aches in the same exact spot (under my right shoulder blade), and I get this perpetual ache under my ribs on the right side where he is always jamming into me with his butt or something, again, same exact thing I felt with DS1. But so far I don't have my crazy swollen feet and ankles! Probably because last pregnancy I was working a constantly on my feet full-time job, and now I'm a SAHM. Although it would be great if my son could start walking sometime soon - the thought of him still not walking by the time his brother arrives is kind of terrifying!
Where are you ladies at with your nurseries? I've bought pretty much everything, but the room itself is far from ready. I'm so behind!

@cyndistar3: I hope so, I'm thinking its the machine and positioning. Last week I went to an elective USA place to see her (didnt cooperate) and they were able to measure her foot. She measured almost a week ahead! We go back there on Friday to try the 4D again, so I'm hoping I csn talk her into measuring her femur on the down low since they arent technically allowed to do diagnostics. I had tk reschedule the one with the diagnostics imaging ppace to Tuesday. Ugh.

@Mrs tartan: Hottie! You look amazing! On the breastfeeding note, I plan to do it for at least six months, if I am able to. My mom had to stop breastfeeding me after a couple of weeks due to lack of support and poor supply, so I was a c-section AND formula-fed baby, and I turned out just fine, thank-you-very-much! So if breastfeeding doesn't work out, I'll be a little sad, but I know things will be ok.
@Mrs.Panda: Keep us posted!!
Speaking of breastfeeding, I picked up my pump a few months ago... thanks to Obama the pump was free! I got the Medela Pump-in-Style Advanced Tote. Does anyone else have that one? It seems to have great reviews on Amazon. I've been trying to research the best way to start stockpiling breastmilk for when I return to work after three months.

@mrskoloa: how'd you go about getting the free pump? Did you just call your insurance co? Thsts what I did last time around with my son two summers ago, but I need another one. If course, I managed to destroy that one, but I keep forgetting to call during normal business hours.
cherry / 242 posts
@bunnylovesbear: I called my insurance company to check, and the protocol for my insurance company was just to show up at any local pharmacy with your insurance card, be a woman, and ask for a pump. Hawaii makes it really easy. The pharmacist just hands it over! I think my policy allows one free pump per pregnancy.

@mrskoloa: nice! I hope it's that easy for me! Last time around, I remember having to get paperwork from either my doctor or the hospital, making some phone calls, and then having it mailed to me. Your way sounds much more convenient!

@mrs tartan, I was surprised in a midwife appointment how much they pushed breastfeeding. I'd love to bf but also don't want to feel like a failure if it doesn't work out, so I was a bit annoyed_ especially by their dummy = the devil comments. Also I'm an October baby, too, so I'd love to share a birthday month with this baby!
I'm 33 weeks today and still having lots of monitoring because of my high blood pressure. So far I still don't have preeclampsia, and a growth scan this week showed the baby was right on track. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that he doesn't have to come too early, especially because my husband is going away for a weekend when I'll be 35 weeks (he's a best man in a wedding that had been planned for over a year now). I've started feeling the urge to clean everything and start getting my hospital bag ready, which hopefully won't be needed for a while, but there's still a good chance I'll have to be induced early, so I like feeling prepared.

I've noticed, in addition to the ankle/feet swelling, I've been experiencing sore finger joints in the morning (which I'm sure is related to the water retention).
Overall, now that I'm reaching the last five weeks of pregnancy, I've noticed that my skin has gotten better since the beginning of pregnancy, but is still not clear like it was before (think blackheads across face, chest, back).
I still don't have any body aches, but I attribute this to going to the massage/chiro regularly, and sitting on my exercise ball in the mornings. And probably going on long walks a few times weekly.
I'm also not at that crazy-peeing stage that a lot of women tell me about. Maybe it will come soon? (Not that I WANT to be at that stage, but just wondering if it's something that's supposed to happen.) I do notice I have to pee more often during the day, but more like every hour, hour-half, rather than every ten minutes. In addition, I am waking up about once a night to pee, but some women I know are waking up hourly. Perhaps it has something to do with the position of the baby, although the doctor says the baby is head down. Maybe not "engaged"? I don't know; I'm not complaining!
Up to this point, I have yet to post any belly shots to my Facebook page. I haven't had the urge. Maybe I'll do a compilation of all of the shots that I'm showing in once I hit 9 months? I just haven't felt very attractive this entire pregnancy, not being used to being much larger than I normally am. I look as if I've gained weight in my neck and face, upper body, stomach (of course), and hips/butt/thighs. I mean, I've gained almost 30 pounds, and I'm only 5'3", so I know it's got to go somewhere, but I just don't like the way I look recently. So vain!

Had a 3d/4d ultrasound but she was a but and was cuddling with her placenta hahaha... we got to see a little bit of squishy baby face though and praise God she is head down!

@mrskoloa: I hear you on the weight gain/body image stuff. It's hard sometimes to be okay with all the changes when we are used to looking/feeling a certain way. I also feel like I'm at the stage where my face looks puffier and I hate that. My back is still feeling okay, which is much different from my last pregnancy. Here's hoping it stays that way until the end!
@Mrs.Panda: Thinking of you and hoping your appointment tomorrow goes well.
@cyndistar3: Adorable! So cool that you were able to see the LO on 3D!
I had my 33w appt last week and things are looking fine. Baby is head down and measuring right on schedule. No need for another u/s, so I probably won't see her again until she's here. Lots of progress on the nursery happening this week with the electrical work beginning and the built-in shelves and curtains being installed. I think our bedding should also be here this week which would be awesome! Still have to buy a mattress and some decorations for the room, but that's it! I'm feeling much better about it now that things are coming together.

@bushelandapeck: it was pretty exciting even though she was being a stubborn butt lol! Glad to hear everything is going well with you, sounds like you've got it together way more than me I'm still a wee bit sad that we don't get to have a nursery.
nectarine / 2358 posts
@cyndistar3: Look at that precious little face! Mine was being a little butt last week, too. We went back on the 22nd and were finally able to see her since she was head down and I ate sushi beforehand! Why won't you be able to have a nursery? I guess I missed that one.
@mrskoloa: I've always been a plus size lady so this 20 lb weight gain has been a little hard. I saw some pics from my baby shower and they weren't the most flattering. Booo.
@bushelandapeck: Thank you! We went back to the elective ultrasound place on Friday and the lady measured her femur without even being asked. She was 30w6d at the appointment and she measured at 32 weeks! I am still going to go to the appointment tomorrow but I am pretty at ease with the whole thing. I'm sure she was just in a crummy position.]
Hope every one is doing okay! I can't believe we are in the home stretch.
I forgot to ask the ultrasound place to change her EDD, she was actually 30w6d here.

@Mrs.Panda: That's what is so frustrating I had a venti caramel frappuccino before and she still wouldn't move! Lol I'm glad you were able to make it work though, what an adorable pic we are looking at a big baby with a lot of hair! And the reason we can't have a nursery is because the room that was going to be the nursery is now my sisters room since she is living with us now.
Eta another pic just because

@cyndistar3: @Mrs.Panda: You guys are so lucky to have ultrasounds that show the baby's face! None of my ultrasounds were successful at finding it
@bushelandapeck: I'm still bugging my husband to install a closet rod and high shelf in the baby's room. And to get his fishing crap out of there.
Can we talk baby position, ladies?
My baby is head down, but its back is along my left side and its feet are kicking towards my upper right abdomen/rib area. I'm already 35 weeks... is this normal? Do I need to start spending time on all fours?
pomegranate / 3980 posts
@mrskoloa: it was certainly tough because at first she was in exactly the opposite position of your lo (back along my right side facing my left where my placenta is) but after some poking and proding we got her to turn just a hair. I think at this point being turned like that is perfectly normal, I think head down is most important now. But if you are worried about it all fours wouldn't hurt anything.
Eta: holy crap 35 weeks already?!?! Only two more weeks til full term
nectarine / 2358 posts
@mrskoloa: Yes head down is most important, the baby can swivel around over the next few weeks to but being on all fours can't hurt as @cyndistar3: said. Spinningbabies.com has loads of useful information. Did you ever get a profile shot of your baby? We never even got one of those until last week, would you guys consider doing another elective ultrasound or are you guys just going to wait it out?
nectarine / 2358 posts
@cyndistar3: I remember you saying that about your sister now, we talked about how I took my sister in when she was a teen too. She's been living with us again for the past year or so but she's 21 so it's not so bad. She's actually going to be our nanny when I go back to work after mat leave so that's good for both of us. She's still quite young but I think this will teach her a lot of responsibility. She's so excited to meet her niece.

@ottilie: totally agree about devil dummy comments, I was really surprised how forceful my antenatal classes were!
@mrskoloa: your body changes sound similar to me, except my skin is a riot. I have never been so spotty, only on my chin though, the doc said this is the area for hormone spots. I wonder if our babies will be opposite genders I am also struggling with feeling unattractive, I'm up 28lbs and I hardly recognise myself anymore. I had my 35 week app today and my baby is in the exact same position except feet are in my left and back along the right, midwife said perfect position for stage of pregnancy, in next 3 weeks babies head will move into pelvis. How exciting!

Just got back from the fetal growth ultrasound and the tech was nice enough to tell me that she is growing just fine. She also told me that my porky is 4 pounds already! And transverse again But I was pretty shocked at the weight as she should only be about 3.5 at 31 weeks. I can't believe you guys are almost full term!!
@cyndistar3: you say a big baby? How big was she measuring? Mine also seems to have a head full of hair
pomegranate / 3980 posts
@Mrs.Panda: We didn't do measurements because this ultrasound was just for pictures with a non doctor, but she already has neck rolls and chubby arms and fingers from what we saw!
pomegranate / 3791 posts
@Mrs.Panda: At 32 weeks they estimated that my little guy is 5 pounds already - eek! The ultrasound tech also commented a few too many times about how he has a really big head. Like, a really really big head. Not a shock since his brother's head has always been like 95-99th percentile, but come on lady, how many times do you need to tell me how big his head is?!
nectarine / 2358 posts
@cyndistar3: look at those rolls! OMG too cute!
@wonderstruck: 5 pounds?!? I guess I should shut up lol
pomegranate / 3791 posts
@Mrs.Panda: I keep trying to remind myself that weight guesses from ultrasounds aren't always accurate! But since I have GD it's not a shock that baby is a bit larger.
@mrskoloa: Head down is the main thing, I wouldn't stress about it!
Second-time moms, I'm curious...is your LO's position and pains super similar to the first time around? I've noticed that this baby tends to beat me up in the same exact spots as his older brother, is active at the same time of day/night, and I have pains in the exact same spots, which is mainly right under my right shoulder blade and the right side of my rib cage. Kind of weird of how similar it has been!

Just wanted to check in to say I've been reading up on everyone, just too tired/busy to post much these past couple weeks. I'll be in touch soon! Glad to hear things are going well and nurseries are coming along nicely.
pomegranate / 3980 posts
@Mrs.Panda: I know right?? They are killing me
@wonderstruck: all three of mine have been different so far, my middle child was especially different because she was crazy like a spider monkey hopped up on mountain dew and breech. This one is pretty chill and I feel most movement on my right side... I wonder if it has anything to do with placenta position?
pomelo / 5720 posts
@wonderstruck: this one seems to be about the same as far as activity level and position are concerned. It hasn't become too uncomfortable yet, but I imagine that will change over the coming weeks as she gets bigger.
@bunnylovesbear: I hope you have a good transition back to school this week!
cherry / 242 posts
@cyndistar3: I've taken a look at that website a few times (thus the all-fours). It seems interesting. I'll try it. 20 minutes a day seems like a long time though... maybe with a good book on the floor haha! There are no places on Kauai where you can pay for an ultrasound, all ultrasounds have to take place through the hospital, and I would feel too embarrassed to ask my doctor if I could visit the radiologist just to see the baby's face :S, particularly since we'll be seeing it in real life in the next month or so. Also, neck rolls are the CUTEST! My husband is Japanese, and Japanese babies always end up super fluffy in their first year. I can't wait!
@Mrs tartan: You and I are so close in due date; it would be funny if we had opposite genders, considering we have opposite baby positions! I can't wait to start reading everyone's birth stories.
@Mrs.Panda: @wonderstruck: How accurate are those ultrasounds at determining fetal weight? I had read that they could be off by a couple pounds here or there. And really, aren't all babies heads big (compared to their bodies)?
I don't know if any of you guys have facebook, but I was reading (creeping) one of the other boards and I saw that the moms had all joined a private facebook group to keep in touch after the babies were all born, because it was faster than checking HB. Just a thought. I also noticed that the December 2014 board has like 100 pages of posts, what the hell?! I mean, I feel like we're pretty chatty, but jeeze!
pomelo / 5720 posts
@mrskoloa: I would be up for a private FB group if others want to do that. I've seen it on other due date boards as well. I'm not sure how to do that?
cherry / 242 posts
@bushelandapeck: I can make the group, and then I think I can add people based off of their e-mails (I don't think we actually have to be fb friends to be added to the group). People can post their e-mail addresses to my HB wall if they are interested or even in this thread. Try giving me your e-mail and I'll see if it works.
pomegranate / 3980 posts
@mrskoloa: I think a fb group would be awesome I'll wall you my email!
cherry / 242 posts
Perfect. It works. If anyone else is interested in joining our FB group, wall me or post your email address and I can add you.
pomegranate / 3791 posts
@mrskoloa: Yeah, I've heard iffy things about how good ultrasounds are at predicting baby's weight, so I'm not thinking too much into it. Anyways, my SIL just had a baby boy who was only 6 pounds and still ended up with second degree tears just because it happened so fast - she only had to push three times and her entire labor was under 4 hours! I have much longer labors, so that is unlikely to happen to me
I'm part of a FB group that actually formed off Weddingbee for May 2013 moms. It's totally crazy how close we've gotten, because it's a private group it tends to get way more TMI and they're such an awesome support system! We've sent care packages for moms going through hard times, a bunch of us met up in Chicago over the summer for a long weekend baby play date type thing, they actually even threw me a virtual baby shower for this pregnancy! But...I don't know, I'm a little afraid they might beat me up or something if I join a different group
cherry / 242 posts
@wonderstruck: I'm glad you guys found success and support with your May group! I am hoping we form the same bond. Maybe if you say "pretty please"?
