My app said morning sickness should be starting to subside but that's a lie!!! I had to leave work early yesterday and came home and slept for 4 hours until DH and T got home and I still felt bad. Felt great today but lo and behold I'm feeling even worse than yesterday this evening.
Come on second trimester.

@winniebee: Yeah I've heard that too. I think if I can just hear the heartbeat, I'll feel better. But no, I'm not scheduled for another ultrasound until my anatomy scan at 18-20 weeks. My last one was 2 weeks ago. I have an appt in 4 weeks but at most my doctor will use a doppler.
But I'm having a total meltdown right now, so Hubby booked the appt for tomorrow morning while I was sitting around debating. My only concern about it is having an unnecessary ultrasound. But he thinks 4 weeks of anxiety would be worse for the baby than one 10 minute scan. Hopefully I can relax after we're out of the first trimester.

@KrzyRiver: that's good! one extra ultrasound won't hurt anyone. good luck!

Is anyone getting horrible acne? I'm breaking out on my cheeks and chin and it's so embarrassing.
Also - how did everyone tell their bosses? I keep chickening out - I really need to do it on Monday. I'll be 12 week and it's getting hard to hide as I'm totally showing.

@KrzyRiver: Your mental health is the most important thing.

@winniebee: That's what he said. I really need to learn to relax! I worry that everything is going to harm the baby.
@jaguar: Very good point! I've gotten into the mentality of "If it could be bad, it's not worth it." But that really shouldn't apply to my physical or mental health. Even mamas need to take care of themselves. How many scans have you had? I suppose if your doctor has been fine with weekly ultrasounds, I can calm down about one extra one.
@Alexandra603: Yes, horrible horrible acne over here! And since we can't use anything with saliclyic acid in it, I've had to resort to just being very vigilant in my skin care routine. I did find a Yes to Tomatos that didn't have SA that I used in the morning. And then I used Burts Bees grapefruit cleansing cloths at night. I seem to be getting it somewhat under control that way.
As for my boss... I texted her. Lol. But she knew I was trying because I'd had a loss 3 months before. And she worked days and I worked 11pm-7am at the time, so I never saw her. I've since had to switch back to an old job, but I made sure my manager saw my FB announcement before I asked her if I could come back.

@Alexandra603: yes! I'm breaking out on my chin/jawline too. So annoying! I'm probably not going to tell my boss for awhile...I'm starting a new job within my current company on a couple weeks and my new boss is in a different state so I can wait awhile...I probably should think about how/when to tell though...

@artsyfartsy: Yeah no subsiding nausea here... I suffer from all day nausea for 9 months when I'm pregnant. Hope that's not the case for you.

@KrzyRiver: We have had weekly scans since 5 weeks to check growth and heartbeat. x
@Alexandra603: I've had shocking acne since my BFP actually.

@KrzyRiver: I have 5 scheduled scans so far and probably will have weekly in third tri for growth, if this pregnancy is like last. It's fine
apricot / 276 posts
@jaguar: Yeah, if your doctor is comfortable with that, I'll stop worrying. With this elective one and my anatomy one in May, that will be 6 all together. That can't be too bad....
I think I spend too much time talking to people on The Bump. They can be so judgy and harsh over there...and they hate these boutique places. They've probably gotten in my head and that's why I'm feeling silly. Lol

@winniebee: Ok good. Lol. You ladies are all so reassuring, thank you! I need to stop listen to negative people and just worry about what I need for my own peace of mind.

@KrzyRiver: Also, through G's pregnancy I was a lot less stressed (first baby, no losses etc) and I had a 7 week, 10 week, 12 week, 16 (elective gender scan), 19 week and 33 week growth.
She turned out just fine. A little whingy, but fine.

@Kitkat: Yay for a great NT scan!
I had my NT scan, too, today! Everything is looking really, really good so far. I had the blood draw for Mat21, too, so we'll have that extra reassurance (hopefully) soon. LO seemed so big and the monitoring screen was perfectly huge! We could see so many details down to the little fingers and we heard the heartbeat. I couldn't stop laughing, it was so much fun. Like someone else on here said recently, I could have watched the screen for hours! The best part was that LO kept moving all around so we saw all sides. So precious!

@KrzyRiver: I went to a boutique ultrasound place at 16 weeks with my first. My anatomy scan wasn't scheduled until 22 weeks due to switching insurance plans and I was dying to know the gender. It was a little silly - sells teddy bears that you squeeze and hear a recording of your baby's heart beat and the lady giving me the ultrasound was wearing stiletto heels (not like a professional medical office setting) but it served its purpose. I do know my doc wasn't wild about the idea because you don't know what training these people have and while ultrasounds are generally safe, most doctors do want to limit the number of of ultrasounds especially if they aren't required for medical purposes.
Eta: it all turned out fine in my case. My little guy was/is perfectly healthy.

@Shantuck: Yeah, this place sold bears too. I felt really weird being there... It was this big open, empty lobby and a little room off to the side with a reclining desk chair for me to lay in.
But it was worth it. Meltdown averted. I got to see the baby and hear the heartbeat. Hubby got to see the baby wiggle and stretch for the first time. And my stepson even came and he really enjoyed it. So I'm feeling much better now.

@Amorini: @jaguar: Thanks ladies!
I felt very silly, but you guys definitely helped make me feel better about the whole thing. Here's our bean at 11 weeks 6 days:

After bath and the toddler kicks me square in the lower stomach... I am in so much fucking pain. Can't tell if it's because of my scar tissue/ligament pain or if something's actually wrong. Waiting until tomorrow morning to reevaluate, but shit kid. I'm so sick of this toddler crap and I have to deal with everything. Oh yeah, and I'm 2000 miles from home visiting family until Wednesday...

@TFrances: toddlers don't mess around! I hope the pain goes away quickly!

@KrzyRiver: Adorable pic! I can't wait to see baby again soon and hopefully he/she LOOKS like a baby again!

@TFrances: Ugh, that's the worst. G is SO rough at home, I keep reminding her to be gentle but she has launched herself at my belly so many times.

Feeling a bit better... I think it's more scar tissue/ligament pain that an actual problem. But now I have bruises all over my back from where the toddler kicks me while sleeping. We're co-sleeping while at my mom's. Thank goodness we are going home in a few days. We can have our separate beds again. The hubs may snore but he doesn't kick me all night.

@TFrances: I'm sorry toddlers ate no joke as I am learning!
@KrzyRiver: So sweet
@Amorini: Glad all is looking good!
@Alexandra603: I told my AP weeks ago we are pretty close, I haven't told my Principal I plan to tomorrow!

@TFrances: ouch :(. It's hard when they don't understand and can be so rough.
@KrzyRiver: glad all is well!

Another ultrasound this morning. Nervous as usual and I had a terrible dream about it last night. Only 9w so a lot can still go wrong!

@winniebee: I understand the nerves, but I'm sure all will be great! Let us know how it goes.

Thanks everyone, it was fine! Baby measuring on track and good strong heartbeat (178). Looked like a little gummy bear today. I will have my Maternity21 test next week.

@winniebee: Yay! I was told it is better to wait until week 12 for the genetic testing because there is more of babies DNA in your blood, so I have to wait another 2 weeks.
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@whiskers: yeah I think it is ideal to wait until 11-12 weeks but you can do it at 10, so I'll go at 10 and change. I don't want to wait until 11 because then we won't get results until right before leaving for a weeks vacation. And if the test isn't good, we wouldn't have any time for consults or more testing before leaving on our trip.
