@Boston terrier mom: my husband actually knows the gender and I don't. That was actually what we did last pregnancy as well. He isn't allowed to tell anyone and I never found out. Of course he has way too much fun teasing me about the gender, but we made it work.

@Boston terrier mom: I have gone to every single appointment and scan by myself (or with a toddler in two) due to hub's crazy ass work schedule. Solidarity!

@Miss Ariel: how did you let him find out without you knowing ? Maybe I could try that

  4. Boston terrier mom

    coffee bean / 40 posts

@TFrances: I have to do everything alone this time and it feel so different. Last time we went to everything together.

Did you ever take toddler to ultrasound?im scared to do that.

I've done nearly all OB visits on my own (or with toddler) - hubby works during the week, so just have to do it! x

@Boston terrier mom: this time the us tech had me leave the room at the end and then she told him. Last time I closed my eyes and she wrote it on the screen.

During the actual us, she'd tell me to look away when we got down low.

If your dh isn't there it makes it easier in a way since they could write it down for you to bring to him.

The hard part then is not looking yourself!

My husband has gone to every appointment with me thus far (his schedule is pretty flexible), but I will be going to all of my June, July, and August appointments by myself since he will be traveling.

@Boston terrier mom: @jaguar: in general, my husband never comes to appts with me...he's a physician and can't usually just pop out for a few hours. this time i wanted him there for the scan so I emailed his scheduling coordinator and made her block off the afternoon! I was a SAHM last pregnancy and my son went to school a few mornings a week so I always scheduled my appts for then. This time, I work so have to take time out of my work schedule when I have child care for the toddler. I've taken my older to appointments (he's now 4) and my 18m old I just couldn't do that. He won't watch an iPad and he's the dangerous/mischievous type!

    Braxton Hicks?! Anyone?!
I kept feeling crampy and tight
    Definitely different!

@Boston terrier mom: DH comes to anatomy scan, but monthly check ups if he is off he comes if not I don't mind as my schedule is hard as a teacher so I go when I can!

@thepicklemonster: I will admit I've also been wondering the same thing about whether or not more of the TG babies are little girls to even things up!

Pretty sure I'm feeling movement on most days now, although it's still pretty sporadic.

So envious of you all getting your ultrasound results so quickly! I had my anatomy scan on Saturday at 18+3, but am not likely to hear the report until my next appointment at 20 weeks. Baby was very active on u/s, though, which was fun to see but may result in me having to go back because the tech was having trouble with getting a couple of the images.

@FaithFertility: I got them starting at 18 weeks with DS2, so I'm expecting them any day now. I've had a few cramping / maybe BH in the last week but I figure if I'm questioning it, not to worry about it

  13. KrzyRiver

    apricot / 276 posts

@FaithFertility: Yup. I've been having BH for a couple weeks now. Definitely uncomfortable. I'm not looking forward to dealing with it for the next 20 weeks. Lol

@KrzyRiver: @winniebee: @FaithFertility: First-timer here. What do BHs feel like? I had what felt like a side stitch last night when I went to bed (literally on one side) but I chalked it up to RLP ... the useful catch-all that it is...

ETA: It completely went away sometime after I fell asleep but it was kind of uncomfortable for awhile...

  15. FaithFertility

    eggplant / 11861 posts

@Amorini: Mine are like menstral cramps...dull ache, but I feel my uterus get tight, it is not long and definitely not frequent just off and on

  16. Amorini

    persimmon / 1132 posts

@FaithFertility: Okay, so maybe what I had was RLP. I would imagine BHs to be more "centralized" like menstrual cramps, not just one side...

  17. KrzyRiver

    apricot / 276 posts

@Amorini: To me it's like a tightening and release all across my lower abdomen. Mostly it just feels weird and kind of uncomfortable, but once it was quite painful cause I was dehydrated.

My 16 week blood work - AFP screening - came back elevated. It's the screening test for open neural tube defects, like spina bifida. I'm referred to a high risk doc for a specific ultrasound and further testing, but that can't happen until 18w (next week). There can be false positives, but I'm a wreck. I have had so many losses and thought we had passed all of the hurdles with this baby. I have no idea how I will make it to next week.

  19. Amorini

    persimmon / 1132 posts

@winniebee: Troublesome news, even if it's a screening test. Sorry that you are going through this and have to wait so long!

@FaithFertility: I'm feeling tons of Braxton hicks and they hurt! Midwife isn't concerned at this time. I'm going to try to drink more water. I didn't have them until 30 weeks last time.

  21. Boston terrier mom

    coffee bean / 40 posts

@winniebee: oh no I'll think happy thoughts for you.

My ips came back with 1 in 600 chance of downs. Last time it was 1 in 20 ooo. Not sure if I should worry or not.

  22. Boston terrier mom

    coffee bean / 40 posts

@Amorini: I picture them a little painful hugs.that last maybe 1-2mins. My midwife says as 2nd time more I'll feel them earlier and more painful. They are worse this time!

  23. jaguar

    pomegranate / 3764 posts

@winniebee: Hey hun, massive hugs. It's just a screener, right? We don't tend to have more bloods after the NT ones, so I'm not that familiar with it.

When is your morph scan, or did you have it already? *brain fart*

  24. winniebee

    hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts

@jaguar: I haven't had that yet, it's not for another 3 weeks. So I will get sent for scan hopefully next week to hopefully rule out spina bifida. had detailed scan at 14w which doc said was totally normal and reassuring but not definitive.

@winniebee: Hey, friend. So sorry you're dealing with this--I can't imagine the stress. The odds are in your favor, though--I saw on your other thread that your number is still really close to the normal range, and it's awesome that all of your other tests have been normal. Praying for you that all is fine and it's just a randomly elevated number!

@winniebee: Thinking about you! Having to wait for an answer is the hardest thing, but hopefully everything will turn out just fine.

I wasn't expecting to hear back about my anatomy scan results until my appointment next week, but got a call last night. I managed to get back in touch with them today, looks like baby's umbilical cord has only one artery and I have a previa. They'll be sending me for a follow up to double check baby's heart and kidneys with a higher level scan and I may be looking at a C-section, but good news is that for now, baby seems healthy and happy so I'm grateful for that.

@winniebee hope you are able to get answers soon.My thoughts are with you.

I had my anatomy scan today but baby wasn't in right position so I have to go back.

Any tips on how to get baby in right position for ultrasound? The tech suggested candy before hand.

    They think it's a girl!

@Boston terrier mom: I had my glucose test before mine, so baby girl was hopped up on sugar, but in order to get the right shot, I had to turn on my side. She didn't like that one bit and started punching and poking me.

  37. Boston terrier mom

    coffee bean / 40 posts

@avivoca: did you have your glucose test early? I asked for mine earlier this time as my brother now has diabetes and didn't before.midwife said I can do it at 26 weeks

I guess I will have a can of coke before!

  38. Miss Ariel

    nectarine / 2210 posts

@Boston terrier mom: I had my glucose res early. In general I think they only do that if you had gestational diabetes before. I passed (by 1 point!), but even so I'll have to take it again at the normal time once I'm in my 3rd trimester,

  39. Boston terrier mom

    coffee bean / 40 posts

@Miss Ariel: how many weeks were you?
My midwife said I have to wait for it to develop.

  40. avivoca

    watermelon / 14467 posts

@Boston terrier mom: Yes, I requested to have my screening at my next appointment (20 weeks) and they gave me the drink/drew my blood for it. My number after 1 hour was 150, which is pretty high. I refused the 3-hour test and am being treated as diabetic. My midwife was completely on board with it, but I'll still have to have bloods done at 28 weeks for my 3rd trimester labs.
