@Shantuck: I'm sure nothing can make those results come in fast enough. Thinking only the best!
@thepicklemonster: Yay!!! Go TG! Did you close your eyes when they looked down there? We did!
Yay for the other good scans this week! I'm on my phone so I can't remember who!

@thepicklemonster: @Amorini: that's what I did! There were a few times when the tech would tell me to look away and they realized I was already doing so.

I finally got my referral from my anatomy scan. It's scheduled for June 14th. It feels so far away!

23 weeks! One more week until viability!!!
We've been super busy all day. One of our toilets has been broken for a year and a half, so once we finally got our state tax return, we went out and bought a toilet. It took us two hours to remove the old one and install the new one. The tile in our bathroom is super old, so a few of the tiles came up too. We'll probably wait until A is born before doing anything about it. It's also junk weeks I we've been hauling brush and oversized things we don't want to the side of our road.
I'm pooped! I have so much I want to do but all I can do is sit on the couch.

@avivoca: Ooooh so jealous! Viability sounds like a million years away, haha.
I'm the same - a million jobs I want to tackle, no time or energy or strength to do it!

Holy back pain!!! Advice to help?! Lower/middle back area. Can't seem to find any comfortable potion.

@waiting4you: Accupuncture has been helping me. And an occasional heating pad (low-setting). Lots of stretching.

@TapDancer: sooooo want to go back for acupuncture but honestly can't afford it right now. Going to try a warm bath tonight, hopefully.
Question; a girl in a Facebook group I'm part of posted today that at 26 weeks "part of her mucous plug came out". What does this mean? And how would you know if this happened? These are the kinds of things this first time preggo is worried about missing the signs of. People were commenting that she should expect to deliver soon, others said it "grows back"?!
pomegranate / 3764 posts
@waiting4you: I've been losing parts of my plug for a few weeks. The biggest piece was about a 50c coin! :o
From all my research, the body is always making mucus during pregnancy, so it expels what it doesn't need. Hence the extra wetness and discharge in pregnancy, though everyone's different.
You USUALLY lose your plug fully closer to the end - but instead of just mucus, it's often streaked with blood and is fairly copious. (Don't google it, it's gross.)
pomegranate / 3764 posts
The loss of mucus is what led me to have extra cervical measurements done - so if the girl hasn't already, it's worth asking for. It means nothing if losing some mucus on its own, it's when it's combined with either cramping or other preterm signs that it can mean something!

@jaguar: thank you!!! I figured avoiding dr. Google was a good idea on this one

@waiting4you: When I lost the WHOLE thing with G, I was 36 weeks and clueless (hadn't even started researching birth yet, haha) - I had some period pain cramps for a few hours, went to bed early grumpy, woke up to pee and BAM. That was what made me call L&D and yep... those cramps were early labour. She was born the next day! #clueless

@jaguar: see those are the things I'm afraid of. I have an unusually high pain tolerance.

@waiting4you: That's why groups like these are awesome. If in doubt, ask.

Trying to surprise my napping husband with dinner after he worked a 48 hour shift then worked on the bathroom reno all day. Two things....
1) the "5 in 5" cookbooks are amazing if you haven't heard of them. Pic below.
2) recipe calls for chicken. Every time I go to cut the package open I start dry heaving!! How am I going to get this done without throwing up?!!

Crazy anatomy scans, 20+ weeks flew by!!!
Glad all is well with those that have had scans!
Ours is Tuesday!

@waiting4you: I was like that with G, couldnt look at raw meat!
apricot / 344 posts
@FaithFertility: the chicken made me sick, but the bacon in the recipe was fine. So weird!
pomegranate / 3764 posts
@waiting4you: Oh, I would be no help. I haven't been sick much but cooking raw meat is a no no. Even thawing it makes me feel queasy!
Hope it's tasty!!!!
I am looking forward to pulling out all of Georgia's cute newborn & 0-3 month clothes. Squee!

@YouGotMe: Your scan will be here before you know it!
@avivoca: Yay, 23w+ now too! I set up our Amazon registry a few days ago and it said 17w to go. What?!
oh my, we have so much to do around here, too! We moved into our house in March and we have been weekend warriors every weekend. It's mostly outdoors projects, just in time for the heat and humidity. We basically gardened and cleaned our porch all weekend. I was on my hands and knees, up and down, squatting, bending over.....and honestly, it felt pretty great to sweat and be active and work hard! I've basically treated myself like glass through IVF so this activity is kind of back to normal. I'm a bit paranoid that it was too much but I felt good, drank lots and took breaks..... Still so much more to do and it feels like a race to complete as much of the hard stuff as possible until it won't be possible!
@jaguar: ummm, yes, we discussed discharge already! How do you know it's mucus plug and not just regular discharge. I thought I was told the two are different.
Oh wow, you had G at 36w! You had cervix issues I seem to be remembering?
@waiting4you: Sorry for your back pain? Where in your back? I'm not having the raw meat thing, in general, but chicken grosses me out sometimes even when not pregnant--cooked and raw!
@FaithFertility: Yay for your scan on Tuesday! So soon! (though I'm sure it feels like you've been waiting forever!)
Lots of movement happening, though I'm curious why just in the evening and at night?! Also a question: apart from mostly feeling great, I get some random low, low down cramping at times (feels like in/on my cervix). It happened today for about 15-20 seconds just walking into a store. Nothing major -- I kept walking, just a bit slower. I'm wondering what that's about.
pomegranate / 3764 posts
@Amorini: It's got a weird texture to it. I am going to make the whole thread squeamish, hahaha. Like set jelly? Not creamy or EW, but like.. more firm.
She was born at 36+5 - so juuuuuust on the border of early. But she was a good size, so I think she was just ready. They actually never checked my cervix with her pregnancy; and I had no symptoms except being HUGE early.
Could be baby's position? The last fortnight when I had all that cervical pressure, was when baby was feet down in there. Ouch!
nectarine / 2210 posts
@Amorini: @jaguar: since we're getting into tmi territory, I basically farted and lost my muscles plug. (It grosses me out just writing it!) but it was my due date and I walked in the door at home and it happened. It was like a huge amount and it was pretty obvious what it was. That was at 6pm, and then he following morning we had a baby girl.
persimmon / 1132 posts
@jaguar: It could be baby position putting pressure there, which would seem to make sense since its infrequent and random. I can't believe he or she is already big enough to have that effect! Wow!
Haha! Thanks for the texture description -- totally crystal clear now! I'm glad that G's early-ish arrival was just her being ready. My sister's two kids decided they were ready right at 38w. I'd really like an October baby (just love the month for some reason!) but that would basically mean being exactly 40w or more. Everyone says first babies come late but I know so many people who've had their first on the early side of 40w.
@Miss Ariel: That is so funny! Hehee. And gross! Hehee.
@Shantuck: Thinking of you and your test results. Hugs! I'm sure everything will be fine.
I have slept so well these last couple of nights and, now that I need to get up for work tomorrow, I'm wide awake at nearly 2 am!
pomegranate / 3764 posts
@Miss Ariel: haha omg! isn't pregnancy delightful?
@Amorini: It is interesting, for sure. But leaves me a bit confused for this baby - do I expect early? And if she goes full term, I won't know WHAT to do!
pomegranate / 3764 posts
Also, it's 5.30pm and I am sitting on the lounge with G (procrastinating cooking dinner) and the baby just did a few little jabs for me. I know lots of folks have been having movement for a while now, but THIS is what I have been waiting for!
kiwi / 657 posts
@Amorini: my understanding is movement and noise soothe the baby and when you are quiet and still they are typically awake.
My husband was able to definitely feel some jabs this morning. Love when I can share them with him.

I can't believe some of us are already reaching viability this month!
My MFM ultrasound is booked in for 5 weeks from now, which seems like ages, but I'm hoping it will be enough time for the previa to have moved away so that I can enjoy the rest of my summer a bit more! We're planning on visiting up at a cottage later in July, but it's only accessible by boat and Dr. Google (I know, I know, I should stay away from it) warns about previas and sudden bleeding and stresses avoiding less accessible places like that
21 weeks tomorrow and we've finally taken the first steps towards actually preparing for this baby. I stopped procrastinating and actually booked our prenatal classes. We emptied the furniture out of the guest bedroom this weekend and I started painting it for the nursery... wanted to get that done while I still felt comfortable going up and down a ladder! Beyond the paint colour, though, I'm not too sure where to go from there. Those of you who've already furnished nurseries, what sort of furniture do we really need, other than a crib? Our bedroom is big enough that we can move the crib in there for the first little while rather than having to get a bassinet as well, and I've been reading that change tables aren't really necessary and we could just use a change pad on a dresser or the floor instead...
nectarine / 2210 posts
@cnidaria: we use a changing pad on a dresser. Besides that dd's room has a glider and a bookshelf, and of course a crib.
cherry / 246 posts
@jaguar: eeek, congrats! I am still waiting to feel the flutters. It's definitely possible I've felt something and just don't know it. Hope the little guy starts jabbing me soon
AFM, my 20-week anatomy scan and appointment are tomorrow morning. I sway between being fairly calm/positive and totally anxious and fearful. Although I know it's all normal for a FTM and everyone is different, but I just feel so far behind still - barely a bump, don't feel any flutters, etc. Getting reassurance tomorrow will be a huge relief since I don't have any other signs. Fingers crossed and hope the time flies by between now and then!
cherry / 246 posts
@cnidaria: We have a tiny room to work with, so I'm only planning on a crib, small dresser (changing pad on top), glider (with slim side table) and some floating shelves instead of a bookcase. I might try to do something like this in the closet if the IKEA piece will fit.
pomegranate / 3764 posts
@whiskers: Eeee that is so cool! I can't wait for hubby to feel something.
@cnidaria: I really hope that placenta has shifted a wee bit for you!
@TapDancer: Good luck with your scan! I hope it's a wonderful experience xx

Ok, maybe somewhat of a tmi question.
I sleep in a stretchy tank top and on my left side. Twice in the past week or so I've woken up with a spot on my tank top just above my left nipple. Now I also sleep with a big tervis of water next to me on that side. Maybe just a coincidence that I dripped water in the same spot on my top during the night, but the spot feels a little "crusty". Do you "leak" starting as early as 22 weeks?
cherry / 128 posts
@TapDancer: Oh, I love the closet organizer idea! We actually have that same IKEA piece (but with added doors & drawers) to extend the storage space in our kitchen and it works really well. Hope your scan goes well this morning!
kiwi / 657 posts
@waiting4you: I personally never leaked during pregnancy, but that sounds like it probably is what is happening.
@cnidaria: I've never had a changing table - just a changing pad on various surfaces (dresser, short bookshelf, etc). Personally, I love having a twin bed in the nursery over a chair. We got one with 3 drawers under it so we have the extra storage space as well. I usually sleep in the nursery for the first 3 months so that I can easily nurse in the middle of the night and just because of newborn paranoia.
