@whiskers: sorry! Yes, hydration is key! I realized if I don't drink enough the braxton hicks start!

@whiskers: I have a handheld Camelback bottle that I use during my races and it's been my lifesaver when I'm out in the heat.

Gender:
Name: We are pretty set on a boys name and came up with a few solid girl ideas this weekend!
Latest baby purchase: The only thing I've gotten is a Marc Jacobs diaper bag I found on sale months ago. I did start a registry, though.
Cravings: Sweets. Frozen yogurt with Oreo almost every day.
Symptoms: I'm starting to get really exhausted in the evening but can't sleep more than 5.5 hours a night. Ugh. Also reflux and leg cramps.

@whiskers: Same thing happened to me last night after I did a very gentle, half-hour long yoga video. Bring on all the water!

Anatomy scan revealed LO2 will be... Another girl!
Also yesterday I had to see my OB because he seems to think the baby is going to be small due to blood flow to the placenta. All he said was ultrasounds every four weeks to check for restricted growth.

@FaithFertility: Only if she DOESN'T move (I've heard babies flip constantly this early when there's room - but this is now scan #3 that she hasn't budged!)

I woke up to pee (of course) at 4:30 this morning and couldn't go back to sleep until 5 because this little one was going CRAZY in my belly! He or she took a little while to get moving in there, but maybe it's because party time was when I was sleeping all this time.

Latest baby purchase: I personally have purchased nothing for this baby. Both my mom and MIL bought clothes though. I kinda thought not knowing the gender would discourage people from buying clothes. I was wrong.
Cravings: Sweets! I totally just ate a bunch of mini donuts for breakfast. So yeah...
Symptoms: Some insomnia, reflux and leg cramps. But nothing to complain about.
Hey guys! I've been following along just too busy to post. My boss is on vacation so I have a lot of free time this week.
I had my anatomy scan and everything looks good. Due date is now October 21. I haven't really done anything to prepare for this baby. The nursery is still an office. We haven't even looked at baby items. DH keeps saying we have plenty of time but I'm starting to feel behind. Also, people keep making comments about my hypothetical baby shower (mostly how they won't know what to buy if they don't know the gender) but no one has actually offered to host one. Am I supposed to bring it up? That seems awkward. But then again this pregnancy is over the halfway point so I feel like someone should bring it up.
And I'm struggling with the daycare vs. SAHM decision. In my gut I know that SAHM makes more sense for our family. I just worry that DH will be stressed being the sole breadwinner (and we'll never actually have the money to buy a house). But I know I'll be stressed as a working mom because most of the childcare/home duties will fall to me.
Hope everyone is having a good week so far!

@Lurleen_Lumpkin: Yay, another due date twin. I would just ask whoever you kind of expect to throw it if they are planning anything.
My thought on the SAH decision would be if you love your job, maybe try going back to it after baby and see if the balance works - you can always quit later. If you don't love your job, just be a SAHM.

Had my 24 week appt yesterday. Everything's looking great. I signed the tubal ligation consent form. Hubs and I are still debating which to do, but this way I have the option of a tubal during my c-section. I can always refuse. Also I had my 1 hour glucose test. Got my results today and I passed. Never had GD before, but there's a first time for everything. Now to hang out until my 28 week appt...

Am I just extra emotional because of pregnancy hormones or is this Orlando alligator story really upsetting? Just read that they found the body and I can't stop crying....

@Shantuck: yeah, it's overwhelming all the stuff that can happen. My poor kids have been getting lots more safety lectures lately.
We have a strawberry patch in our yard and the girls love to go get the berries. then I noticed in a couple of their books had the red mushrooms with white spots, which are super poisonous, but they look a bit like strawberries. So I started telling them how poisonous they were and not get them confused. A couple weeks later we're walking on a path in our neighborhood and my daughter sees a whole patch of the mushrooms - it's the ones that a tiny bit will kill you. I got dizzy thinking about it and all the random things that you never really think of and seem like 1 in million chance but still happen. My minds been on danger alert.

My ultrasound got moved up from next week to tomorrow! They called today and said they had an opening (their scheduling has been crazy because they're short a tech) so I'll have my US tomorrow and still see my doctor next week.

@FaithFertility: I hope so too!!!
@mfa_lady: Awwwww, baby! I had my girl kitty on my belly last night and she was getting pelted by lots of little thuds.
@TFrances: Yay for passing the 1 hour!
Anyone else fairly sure they'll fail their GTT? We automatically do the long test here (they don't even bother with 1-hours anymore) and I have a feeling I'll go positive this time.

@jaguar: I feel over all I do not eat as well as I did with DD, but I dont eat horrible either!
So I fear it a little more this time, but I hope we are all ok!!!!
pomegranate / 3921 posts
@jaguar: Yeah, I kind of have the same fear. I failed the 1-hour (barely) with E and had to take the 3-hour. I did okay on that one, but....I've been so busy that I've been eating like crap. I should probably work on that, GD or not!
kiwi / 657 posts
@mfa_lady: Good luck today!
I didn't have GD for the last two, and my pregnancies pretty much all progress the same, so I'm not that worried. I do eat too much sugar, though.
watermelon / 14467 posts
@jaguar: I was pretty sure I would fail based on how I felt after eating pancakes early on. I tested my glucose (my husband is diabetic, so we have everything) and it was 150 two hours after I ate. I took the GTT early and tested positive for it.

US went well! I won't hear from my doctor until next week's appointment (they had an US appointment open up early, but I couldn't be away from work for long enough to see the doc, too) but the tech said if she'd seen anything concerning she would have had a doctor come in at the end.
HB was 148, baby weighs about 15oz, and we're on track!

I'm at my 23 week appointment right now waiting on the dr. Hb and bp looked good, although I'm up 6 lbs in the past month which was a little surprising, but the dr seemed fine with it. I'll be back in 3 weeks when I'll have to take my glucose test once again.

@mfa_lady: that's great news! Can't believe these babies are already almost a lb or more

@Miss Ariel: with G between I think 20-24 weeks I went up 11 lbs they were ok since I didn't gain any before

Definite newbie question here -- do I need a crib skirt? I get that it's purely decorative, but will the crib look weird without one (especially when the mattress is higher?)
watermelon / 14467 posts
@TapDancer: You don't need one. I had one and it was kind of a nuisance really, especially when we lowered the crib. If you plan on storing stuff under the crib, it will be nice to hide the things, but that's really all I used it for.
My cats got a lot of enjoyment out of it.
pear / 1767 posts
@TapDancer: It probably depends on your specific crib. My crib skirt hides the wire underpart of my crib that is under the mattress that you would otherwise see. It also allows you store things under the crib (like bins of clothing). If you don't really want to spend much on one, you could just order a cheap white one from Target. There are several for $15-$20 (was just looking into this because I wasn't sure if the one I already have for my son's room can be repurposed for this baby girl's room).
cherry / 246 posts
@avivoca: @shantuck: Ok that helps, thanks! Good point about it depending on the crib itself - I'll wait to see if there's anything I need to "block" or not.
ETA: I think I've narrowed in on the Babyletto Lolly crib. Haven't ordered it yet, but it's high on my wish list!
pear / 1767 posts
@TapDancer: Ooh! I like that.
For anybody still looking for a crib, we bought a Baby Mod crib from Walmart the first time around with DS because we liked the clean lines of their designs and had read that they were made by a higher end furniture line and we've been really happy with it (especially considering that ours was only about $150 with free shipping).
apricot / 477 posts
@TapDancer: LO1's crib has a flat bottom and without the skirt it looks fine. I'd say buy your crib and see if you think it needs it.
pomegranate / 3764 posts
We had a crib skirt with G but don't think I'll bother this time as it just kind of got messy every time I changed sheets, which drove me crazy!
I know it's still early to be counting movements and what not, but baby girl has been pretty quiet yesterday... thank goodness for doppler. I hope she's just having some downtime. I don't have an OB appt for another two weeks!

Our first purchase! I'm pretty stoked, $100
We are doing a Cape cod nautical theme!!
