@jaguar: G was like that with me! I wouldn't feel.her for days? Definitely went to L&D many times for NST tests I was such a nervous Nelly!

@TapDancer: DD has one I like it because it hides what I store under her crib

@jaguar: my baby has very quiet days too and I find myself getting anxious. Then they'll give me a little roll or jab and I breath a sigh of relief. I'm trying not to be a nervous Nellie all the time but it's hard. I'm right there with you mama.

@FaithFertility: I have no hesitations in tracking stuff later.. I just feel I'm being paranoid at 23 weeks? Or should I be going crazy and doing it now?
@delight: It's hard, because I felt this wee one late too.. so I'm not really sure whether it's normal because it's still early, or that I'm just being hyper aware.
pomelo / 5326 posts
@jaguar: I think it's a bit of both. It's normal to feel inconsistent movements at this stage but after going through so much to get here, you're obviously going to be hyper aware. I keep wondering if I should get a Doppler but I feel like I would over use it and might get a bit obsessed with checking. I'm just trying to savour every little movement even if they're still few and far between. I find that during the day I don't feel much at all but at night they are a bit more active. I thought we weren't supposed to track movements until 28 weeks but maybe I'm wrong.
pomegranate / 3764 posts
@delight: My OB says the same, from third trimester onwards - I guess I'm still being paranoid and waiting for the other shoe to drop somehow?
I definitely use the crap outta my Doppler... but if it's that vs. constantly being in a state of panic, I choose Doppler!

@TapDancer: It really does depend on your crib. I don't know what it was about mine but it didn't really work well with the style. I made one myself but I'm definitely going to scrap it the 2nd time around.

I had an appointment today with my new OB. Seems like a good fit! I really liked my last one, but he didn't work with doulas and I have one... So... all seems to be well. I'm a little concerned with my weight gain. Baby has a strong heartbeat of 153. Despite the old wives tale (higher heart rate = girl), we're convinced it's a boy because of the u/s headshot (boy head all the way!) and my bump ... which totally popped last week and is narrow and low which would mean boy! TG guessing is still very fun! Next stop: GD test at my next appointment in 3 weeks.
@jaguar: @delight: @FaithFertility: We talked about movement in my appointment today and the OB said not to get too concerned unless I don't feel any movement for stretches longer than an hour or so. He wasn't adamant that I come in then, but just gave me that as the benchmark.
ETA: 25w tomorrow...

@Amorini: Ha yep, my DD would not move for HOURS!!!! She was so quiet and is a very calm girl now!!!
pomegranate / 3764 posts
@Amorini: Gosh, if it was within an hour, I'd be ringing my OB 8 times a day. I barely feel her until the evenings, and even then it's sketchy - way less than with Georgia!
pomelo / 5326 posts
@jaguar: I go for hours too at this point without feeling much and then at night feel a lot more. I'm just at 20w. It's so hard to relax though! I can't wait until I'm feeling more regular movement
. @Amorini: I hope a few weeks from now when I'm at your stage I feel hourly movement! And! I totally agree team green is fun!!!
persimmon / 1132 posts
@FaithFertility: @jaguar: @delight: Yeah, it didn't get regular and stronger like this until the last week or so. Movement has felt like light occasional flutters since 16w. Could be because the baby is bigger and I just feel more. And I don't know about every hour still. Maybe every hour or two, if the baby is sleeping. When he said one hour, it seemed too frequent, like what about when I'm sleeping?!
eggplant / 11861 posts
@Amorini: I think you begin to know your baby's pattern! G honestly would not move for days around this time, or what I could feel and even at 30-40 weeks I would tell my OB she never kicks 10times an hr like they would say! I went to LD I think 3 times!!!! She assured me it was her and her personality!!!
pomegranate / 3764 posts
@Amorini: That gives me hope as you're ahead of me!
@FaithFertility: My G was very similar, except hers felt stronger earlier than this time around.
I'm so bummed... this is the third cold I've had this winter, and it's only June. This baby is shredding my immune system. Georgia comes home with a sniffle and is fine the next day, and I'm down for the count again.

@jaguar: even though I knew you were in Australia I had a moment when you said "winter"
I wish it was winter here. My winter pregnancy was much nicer than this heat. Yes. I am insane.

@YouGotMe: I thought it would be so much better - first time around was a summer pregnancy and I was so so effing hot the whole time... but I have never caught this many bugs before!

@jaguar: For whatever reason spring was the worse for us in terms of sickness. My little guy brought home the flu, a terrible stomach bug, and several colds all since I found out I was pregnant. I luckily avoided the flu but definitely got the stomach bugs and colds. And of course there is very little you can take while pregnant, which makes being sick so much worse! Hang in there!

@Shantuck: All these sharing and caring kiddos, haha! I'm all set to get my flu shot as soon as this cold clears up, and Miss G is having hers soon too! Better to be cautious. xx

Hey friends! Have been following along on my phone, but only log-in at home- and we've been traveling. Much love to the sick mamas and the mamas anxious for more movement.
-24 weeks with our second little GIRL! Was a bit surprised, but my 2.5 year old had been insisting it was a "little sis" the whole time and was totally unfazed to find out.
-Lots of baby movement. Lots of heartburn! Any non drug remedies? Am popping tums, having moderate success with heartburn tea, and milk seems to soothe.
-"Running" a half marathon this coming Sunday. Am hoping that I won't have to spend too much time peeing along the course... and that my lower back isn't crippled by mile two. Should be interesting! Am looking forward to scaling back the running and increasing the walking and trying to do some strengthening after this dang race
-Feeling... HUGE. Yay for maxi dresses. Seriously... I never wore one before this pregnancy, and I'm already in lovelove with two I got second hand.

Ugh, I'm in a funk over multiple things and just want to vent. I had some drama over our baby names and I'm just really unhappy about the whole situation. I'm sick and my throat is completely raw and uncomfortable on top of regular pregnancy symptoms. DD2 is also sick. The kids bff is moving away at the end of this month. Summer weather is unbearable and I'm not sure how we can last until fall.
On a happier note, the older two are doing fairly well sharing a room and we made major progress on all of our home projects over the past month. DD1 is in preschool 2 days a week now, which is awesome all around.

@whiskers: I'm sorry. Everything is worse when you are sick and your kids are sick. I hope you guys can come to an agreement. It's awesome that you've come a long way on your home improvement projects! I threw a hissy fit yesterday when I didn't have the right part for my air compressor so I could spray my cabinet doors (that have been sitting primed since last October...). There is so much to do and it was just the straw that broke my back yesterday. I'm in a better place today, but I was seriously pissed.
kiwi / 657 posts
@avivoca: That would probably piss me off as well. Hope they are finished soon! I spent all day yesterday pissed over the name thing - some people who weren't even supposed to know our baby name considerations shared their personal thoughts and opinions on them with me (and of course they were all negative).
watermelon / 14467 posts
@whiskers: Not cool. My mom did that to me last time with H's name because "she didn't want her granddaughter named after a frog" and her friend thought the name was weird. It really hurt my feelings. Then my SIL shared it publicly and spelled it wrong to boot, so I called T crying and told him to call her and take it down because I didn't want to share it. Then I harassed her over FB about it until she did what I told her to.

@avivoca: Ugh. I just don't understand why people think they get any input at all. I just feel like the drama taints it all right now. I don't want to think of my kids name and associate it with everyone telling me they hate it (it is a perfectly normal and cute name).
pomegranate / 3921 posts
@whiskers: I'm still so mad about this for you. It's so ridiculous that people think they get to choose! And honestly, you obviously have perfectly classy and normal taste in names. BLAH! Also, hope you guys feel better so soon.
eggplant / 11861 posts
@whiskers: Sorry about that name game! People can.be so weird!!
Hopefully you all feel better soon!!
Just napped from 2-4?!?!?
And slept until 8:30 a.m. and I am still tired!!!
Is the 2nd tri honeymoon phase ending already?!
pomegranate / 3764 posts
@whiskers: We've already named our wee girl (just as we did early with Georgia) but keep it under wraps because I don't want or need other people's opinions - it annoys me to NO end when people feel the need to comment. The only ones that should have a say are you and your partner.
That said, we copped a lot of flack for not using family names for G's middle name - which we deliberately avoided, so we wouldn't offend anyone by using one and not another. We've avoided deliberately again this time too!
That said.... boo. *hugs*

Thanks, ladies. At least there are 4 months left to decide. Also, we still have 4 months left?!

*yawn* DD was up half the night coughing and it's starting to sound croupy . Then my cat caught a mouse and let it go in her room, so I have no idea where it is. Gonna see if we can get in to the doctor this morning and probably take a sick day.
watermelon / 14467 posts
@whiskers: @FaithFertility: It's a bad sinus infection. Poor girl. She's coughing so hard she's peeing herself. I'm waiting on her meds now.

@whiskers: Hahaha...although PHYSICALLY I know what you mean, I'm over here like OMG ONLY FOUR MONTHS UNTIL I HAVE TWO KIDS?!
