Hi Clementine, I'll join you here as well as I'm currently a very late Sept and date could change to Oct... Congrats on your BFP!
Where are you located?: Vancouver, Canada
• EDD: based on lmp, September 27th
• How far along are you?: around 7 weeks
• Is this your 1st child?: 3rd
• When is your 1st doctor appointment?: TBD
• Any symptoms so far?: Feeling very sick. Morning sickness that lasts all day.
• Who have you told?: DH and 2 friends
This pregnancy has already been a rollercoaster of emotions. Last week I had blood work done and the beta HCG got me worried. First draw at 27000 was very promising, second came in at 35000. I was convinced it was over as it didn't double (turns out at such a high starting number, it doesn't double every 48hrs) Went for an ultrasound yesterday to confirm viability and was SHOCKED that there was a healthy heartbeat of 165. Cried tears of joy on the ultrasound table, was grateful for a kind and understanding tech.

@Autumnmama79: congrats to you, too Were your other kiddos late? I am so anxious to get to my first ultrasound - with my first, I had a SCH and burst into tears when the tech found a heartbeat (bless her, right away and so fast to reassure me) so I understand that feeling!

@Clementine12: #1 was born on her due date (!) and #2 was 3 days late. I haven't had my first appt with my OB yet so not sure if she'll leave the due date of my lmp (Sept 27th) or want to adjust. My last period in Dec was the only one I had following a loss in November so its a bit unclear.
Thank goodness for those compassionate ultrasound techs, there are many who are the opposite so I really appreciate the good ones!
Do you think your little one understood when you shared?
apricot / 322 posts
@Autumnmama79: not even a little bit I haven't pressed the issue because I don't want her chattering about a baby to her grandparents yet. At some point I will get her a baby doll and have a more serious talk about it.

@Clementine12: Aww... such a cute age. My DS is 2.5years, will wait awhile as my DD is 9 and want to be sure the pg is sticking around before sharing with her.

@Clementine12: Pretty good! 6+1 today. Not a big appetite, but not much nausea either. Just tired and feeling blah. How are you?
pear / 1703 posts
@annem1990: Same on the appetite. I've had pretty strong aversions this time around. Baking is my hobby and I want nothing to do with sweets or baked goods right now. Too bad right now otherwise I'd be baking up a Valentine's storm!

@annem1990: I am on team empty stomach makes me a little nauseous, full stomach makes me a little nauseous.
I need to find a midwife - the one I saw changed practices and I don't know where she went. I don't like the other options at the practice I was at before. I will research who my insurance covers when I think about it while NOT at work, but the one I saw and liked the sound of delivers at a hospital that's 40 min away. The office for visits is 20 min from my house, 45 from work.
How far is too far in your opinion? I like that the hospital allows use of gas for pain relief but I haven't done any further research. I'm aiming for a VBAC and my first labor wasn't fast.
pear / 1703 posts
@Clementine12: It does sound far but I drive quite a bit so I don't think it would phase me. Maybe once you do a bit more research you may have a couple options for midwife that you can weigh the pros and cons?
And yay for a VBAC! I tried for a VBAC with baby #2 but when the time came it just wasn't in the cards and the doc advised against it. I haven't decided if I'll try for one this time around or just be resolved in the fact that its likely not going to happen lol.

@Autumnmama79: I had a great first Csection, healed fine from it - don't think it was necessary and was pressured into it by the doc on call. I think I'll be at peace if it happens again but I have to give it my all to avoid it if possible!

@Clementine12: Great attitude, and thats exactly how I felt going into my VBAC. At peace either way

I'm surprised there aren't more October mamas joining yet!
@Autumnmama79: How are you doing? Have you had your EDD confirmed yet?
pear / 1703 posts
@Clementine12: me too, hopefully more mamas will join soon!
I’ve been super sick, struggling to make it thorough the days. Trying to remain grateful to have a growing fetus! No news on the edd front, but do have first ob appt booked for Tuesday. Looking forward to that. Have you had any more thoughts about choosing a midwife or the distance concerns?
apricot / 322 posts
@Autumnmama79: I wanted my husband to have a strong opinion but alas he doesn't so I'm going to meet with my gut feeling midwife who's a bit farther away.
This pregnancy is copying my first - I started spotting 2 days ago (light and brown). I know it's normal but still doesn't feel great. Also, googling only tells me that it's normal and "could be implantation bleeding" which isn't helpful at 6 weeks. I hate the first tri.
pear / 1703 posts
@Clementine12: gah. I hate it too. Hopefully it’s a bit reassuring that it was same with your first. It also seems like there’s never enough reassurance in the first few months.... are you 6 weeks now?
When will you meet with the midwife?
apricot / 322 posts
@Autumnmama79: 6 weeks tomorrow by LMP dates. I'll see her at 8 weeks unless she thinks the spotting is a reason to meet sooner. Last pregnancy I spotted week 5.5-9ish so God I hope this isn't an exact repeat.

@Clementine12: both of my term pregnancies were fairly nightmarish too. With the first I was in hosp for a week at 12 weeks with severe stomach pain, finally diagnosed with... needing an enema - funny end to a very stressful time. My second was just riddled with emergency ultrasounds and weird pains. Then at 25 weeks (Christmas eve) I had a huge gush of bright red blood and was in hospital overnight for monitoring. Devastated to miss Christmas morning with dd and also worrying about the baby inside. Here’s to hoping these pregnancies of ours are smoother than the ones before!!
apricot / 322 posts
@Autumnmama79: Oh man yes a nightmare! Fingers crossed this baby gives you a break.
I made my appt with the midwife and it turns out that one midwife in the pair delivers at the hospital I had my DD at (much closer) so... I fell a bit silly for putting DH through all those conversations and all that waffling.
First appt is set for 3/13.
