We are leaning towards team blue on this thread. We need some more girls.
GOLD / wonderful olive / 19030 posts
Thank you all for the congrats! I haven't stopped by this board yet today to thank you all! I thought for sure we would be carrying on the team blue, but there is no doubt our little lady is a lady! 3 different angels proved that
So to all the other October mom's out there, what is next on your agenda? I feel like I need to get a move on stuff! I have daycare lined up and an appointment for a meeting with a doctor, who was highly recommended to us. So if all goes well when we meet, we will stick with her! Anything else I should be doing?
bananas / 9357 posts
@jessiejo17: You sound like you've done more than I have! I know I need to start looking into daycare, but all I want to do is start on the nursery. So yeah, next I'm starting the nursery. I'm going to start painting this weekend. And I've been researching crib options.

@jessiejo17: You are prepared!!
Right now we’re looking at houses, making offers, etc. I’ll be happy when we get one so that we can feel more settled! We’re also going to go register next week. Our parents wanted to do a just parents and immediate aunts and uncles baby shower at the end of June before the summer hype got started and now that we know that we’re having a boy it’s time to get a move on!
GOLD / wonderful olive / 19030 posts
@Running Elley: I don't feel prepared, but I have always been a crazy planner (my husband puts the emphasis on the CRAZY part haha!)
It will be so much nicer once you guys get settled into your new home, that is so exciting!
I'm hoping to register this weekend now that we know gender, hopefully we have time! And I want to get some clothes so her closet doesn't look so empty!
GOLD / wonderful olive / 19030 posts
@mrskc: I'm also excited for the nursery, our furniture was delivered last week, but now we have to paint since we know gender! I have been looking online all day for options for paint and bedding! (Look what happens when the boss is gone all week ha!)
bananas / 9357 posts
@Running Elley: Registering! how fun! I haven't even thought of doing that yet. But my shower probably won't be until the end of August.
coconut / 8681 posts
@jessiejo17: Haha I'm a crazy planner too
@mrskc: I cannot wait!! I've been doing research on things for awhile but DH wanted to wait until we knew gender. My friend shower will be in August too.
I've been basically putting together nursery ideas all day. We're going white walls with horizontal gray stripes and a VERY pale yellow ceiling. The "theme" is going to be loosely Peter Pan with accents in the Peter Pan-y green color and with framed quotes from the book/movie. I always want to get this in a large print and frame it for one wall...http://pinterest.com/pin/55521007876393720/

@Running Elley: Oh my that sounds soooo cute! I love that print! I've been going crazy pinning boy nursery stuff. I think I want to do grey and blue with maybe yellow or green. Not 100% sure yet. I also want to incorporate zoo animals like elephants and giraffes. I don't want it to look too baby though. Here's my baby boy board:

@mrskc: YAY I love getting new Pinterest girls to follow And especially ones with baby boys! I *may* have gone on a Pinterest binge today lol. I was originally planning on incorporating zoo animals too…how funny! I was just hit with the Peter Pan inspiration today, I think it would transition well into little boy too! There’s a super cute elephant hamper that I have pinned..you should check it out!
bananas / 9357 posts
@Running Elley: Yeah i think I remember you mentioning zoo animals before. But I think Peter Pan will be super cute. I know what hamper you're talking about and I've been eying that thing for ages!

@mrskc: Its soooooo cute in white. I hope that you get it so I can live vicariously through you
squash / 13764 posts
@jessiejo17: Haha our LO was the same--there was no doubt about his parts!
@mrskc: aw I love your boards!
@Running Elley: I am also obsessed with that hamper!!
We haven't really done anything since finding out gender, except buy one onesie that I used to come out on Facebook. I also FINALLY told everyone at work, since at this point it's getting hard to hide the bump by the end of the day! DH feels strongly about not making any big purchases until 24 weeks, aka viability, so we'll wait til then to buy the crib, stroller, etc. Our nursery is also still full of boxes from our move, so that needs to be emptied out first!

wow - you guys are on top of things! I feel like I need to really start clearing out our guest bedroom and getting it baby ready... we have to sell the queen bed in there, or dump it - clean out the closet, and I want to paint the walls & air it out SOON!
but I have been pinning a few things & looking around - pinterest is great for that, i'll have to check your pages out.
in other news.... one of my best girlfriends found out she was PG a few weeks ago (yay), they have a 7 month old, and they just heard it's identical twins!! yikes - they're going to be busy!!

Hey Ya'll!! I'm totally pin-stalking your boards now! I have a few boards for baby stuff, but here's mine for the nursery- http://pinterest.com/carrielouwho6/nursery/
So far we've bought the crib and changing table. I'm having a hard time planning the nursery until we find out the gender (next Thursday!!!). I've found a daycare, but I'm still checking out others. I've signed up for classes at the hospital(breastfeeding, infant care, Happiest Baby on the Block) and we've done a tour. I've got a list of pediatricians to research, so I guess that's next on the list. Also figuring out what birthing classes to take (Bradley, Hypno, etc).
I'm trying to get as much done early as I can so I can relax later... I tend to be a procrastinator, even though I'm a planner :o)
bananas / 9357 posts
I'm digin all of your boards!
@CarrieLouWho: For a procrastinator, you've got a lot accomplished already. You're making me feel like a slacker. And yay for finding out next week! How exciting!
persimmon / 1408 posts
Honestly, I think it's because we tried for 15 months and I was just so ready at that point to be pregnant, that I've just gone full steam ahead!
No one should feel like a slacker! We all have plenty of time to get it all done!!!
Has anyone started talking to your HR about time off?
coconut / 8681 posts
I'm following all of your boards now! YAY!
@CarrieLouWho: I haven't yet. I've been putting it off
persimmon / 1408 posts
I started talks early w/ my Manager b/c I knew I wanted to take 12 weeks but my branch of the company doesn't qualify for FMLA (you have to have 50 employees at your location... we have 45). I just got approval this week that I can take the 12 weeks... so I'll have my first 2 weeks paid in full; either 4 or 6 weeks paid by STD at 60% (vaginal vs. c-section) then the remainder of the time is unpaid.
The unpaid part is crappy, but I'm just excited that I have the option to take that much time since I was worried I'd only get 6 weeks... which seems sooooo short.
bananas / 9357 posts
@CarrieLouWho: I'm a planner, so I know i'll get everything done in time. But I'm starting to feel pressure to get moving on stuff. I haven't really talked to my work yet about time off. I think I'm allowed the 12 weeks for FMLA. I want to take more time off though so I'm going to ask for an additional 4-6 weeks off unpaid. We'll see if they approve it or not though. And I guess my job wouldn't be protected during that time, but I'm not worried about them replacing me.
persimmon / 1408 posts
@MRSKC - That would be awesome if you were able to take an extra 4-6 weeks!!! My good friend lives in Jersey and b/c of state law there, she got 12 weeks of FMLA + 6 weeks extra from the state of NJ and her job was protected the whole time. She had her baby 10/12 and went back to work on 2/14!
If your state law is better than the federal law, you usually get the advantage of both!
bananas / 9357 posts
@CarrieLouWho: state law is the same in ca. You get the 12 weeks of protected unpaid leave. I can get 6 weeks disability pay and then another 6 weeks of ca paid family leave. So at least I'll get partial pay for 12 weeks. And my employer will use up my sick leave and vacation time to make up the difference in the disability pay, so I'll probably get a few weeks of full pay. I'm hoping they'll give me an additional 6 weeks off.
GOLD / wonderful olive / 19030 posts
@CarrieLouWho: I just emailed them today, but the rep I need to talk to is on vacation, so at least I made contact.
I know that I will get 12 weeks unpaid protected leave (FMLA). I get 1 paid as a week, ad will have 3 weeks vacation to us. Otherwise the otehr 8 weeks is unpaid, no disability...not fun but we knew from the beginning so I have been saving like a mad women so it won't affect us when the baby comes we will have enough in seperate savings that I would make a week.

Hi ladies! How is everyone doing this week? I'm 18 weeks tomorrow (yay!) and I"m still waiting to feel baby boy kicking me...I know I have no reason at all to worry, but I still can't help but feel a little nervous that I haven't felt him yet, even thought I KNOW it's still early. Has anyone else been feeling movement?
In other news, 2 women at work commented that I have a bump today, so I guess I"m officially showing? I don't think I've "popped yet"--the bump still seems to be pretty low.
bananas / 9357 posts
@hilsy85: I'm somewhat positive I've felt movement. Sometimes I really don't know if it's gas or baby. But a few times I felt some stronger thumping/fluttering feelings that I'm pretty confident was baby. Don't worry. 18 weeks is usually when they say women first start to feel movement. Do you have an anterior placenta? And that's exciting people are starting to comment on your bump! I've had coworkers comment on mine too. But I'm like you and haven't "popped" out yet. I can't wait until I look more obviously pregnant.
Things are kind of quiet with me. I don't have my next doctor's appointment until June 15th when I have my anatomy scan. Hubs and I are preparing for a trip we're leaving for next Thursday. Baby stuff is put on hold until we get back.
GOLD / wonderful olive / 19030 posts
Well I have officially "popped" as of last week. We had a wedding Saturday and the belly was big enough at 20 Weeks that several people commented on it!
@hilsy85: Don't worry, I'm a couple weeks ahead and have only felt the baby a couple times. I have an anterior placenta which is taking all hits instead of my belly, my doc warned me it could be a couple more weeks! Hopefully soon the baby's kicks will be strong enough for me to feel consistently! And hopefully you feel your little boy soon, I know how the waiting feels!

Oh and I finally broke down and bought the Boppy body pillow and it has made sleeping SO MUCH BETTER! For anyone who has been having issues adjusting to side sleeping, highly recommend this! I am a back/stomach sleeper &this pillow has helped me find a comfy position on my left side.
