@TheFixIts: Hmm I've also been carrying very low and I'm having a boy, so I'm going to agree with Elley and say boy for you The OWT were pretty on track for me though (I didn't have m/s, was craving salty stuff vs sweet, etc) so who knows! I'm not blogging but I do read your blog and am loving your weekly updates/photos

@TheFixIts: I thought boys were low? I was convinced that mine was a boy at first too but the old wives tales also swayed me to girl and when we went in for the AS I was convinced that I was having a girl 100%! We have a boy in there! I can't wait to see how yours turns out!
Here's my blog..... I'll delete the link if I need to! http://makingawishuponastar.blogspot.com/

Ladies, have any of you been kind of crampy lately? I’ve been having some round ligament pain but yesterday and today I’ve had more AF-y kind of cramps, mostly on my left side. I haven’t been drinking as much water as normal because it’s been a REALLY busy couple of days. Could that be all it is? I’m extremely paranoid about premature labor but I haven’t had any lower back pain or contractions (that I can tell??). Thoughts?
squash / 13764 posts
@Running Elley: I've definitely heard that dehydration can cause cramps so if you haven't been drinking as much water, it would make sense! Try not to worry, and definitely call the doc if they continue Hope you feel better!

@hilsy85: Thanks The little guy has also gone through a huge growth spurt this week if my belly size is any indication and is kicking up a storm so that's reassuring! I'll just hydrate hydrate hydrate!

I haven't had cramps, but when I stand up after sitting... it hurts in a not so great place. Not to be too TMI, but it feels like the baby might fall out. Doc said it was round ligament pain. It's not constant, but enough that it's bothersome. Nothing else hurts though.
@RunningElley - I have had a hard time w/ hydration lately, I really need to re-up my intake.

@HellobeeBoston & @ninja: Congrats ladies on your boys! We have so many boys in October!
I'm back from my trip to Taiwan. I feel like lots to catch up on on HB and WB. I haven't been on in over a week! Trip went great. Everything is so different there. I didn't have any issues with the food or water there. My feet and ankles swelled like crazy! I had cankles for a lot of the trip. lol.
I was really impressed with the way Taiwan treats pregnant women. I was able to board the plane first. Subways & buses have priority seating for elderly, disabled, and pregnant women. At the train station there was even a special line for pregnant, elderly & disabled people. And some seats waiting for the high speed rail indicated they were for pregnant women. I even saw some signs that prohibited smoking near pregnant women. I liked that people could actually tell I was pregnant! I don't feel like I look fat anymore. lol
I've been feeling so much movement! I love it! DH actually felt the baby kick for the first time while on our trip! It was a really special moment.
Sorry for the long post. Hope all you ladies are doing great!

@mrskc: hey there!! Welcome back! Glad you had a good trip - and it's fantastic that you're feeling the baby move so much! my DH has only really felt him twice now - it's so tough to get him at the right time.
@Running Elley: hey -- i, too, have been crampy as of late. I think dehydration is a factor - i've been buying SmartWater by the cart full and trying to keep hydrated all of the time... I also brought it up with my Doc -- round ligament stretching is definitely part of it - and if I'm walking too fast, or over-doing it - the crampiness starts up. I try to relax a little when I feel it - or take a not-too-hot bath, and drink a lot of water & it eases up... I also think the baby has gotten a lot bigger, and he's been kicking a ton - that's gotta cause some pain!

@mrskc: Yay glad you had a good trip! And isn't the movement SO AWESOME? I love it!

@mrskc: I was just thinking about you this morning and wondering when you got back! I'm so glad that your trip was good, it sounds like a great experience! My DH was able to feel our guy this past week too
@hellobeeboston: Yes! That's exactly how I feel. When I'm relaxing I'm fine but a lot of movement seems to trigger it. I'm glad to hear that it seems to be normal!
My husband was able to SEE our LO kick on Saturday! We were at my parents' pool and I braved the bikini (shudder) and he saw my stomach move from a kick. It was really cool

@Running Elley: yes! I have been getting the ligament pain, and oh boy it is not fun! It stops me dead in my tracks when I get it, usually right away in the morning when I'm rolling over or something i bed. Talk about a bad walk up call!

@CarrieLouWho: We decided to not do maternity shots, as we wouldn't have them displayed in our house for long. We are going to do family pictures in November instead (on top of newborn pictures that will be in October.)
I would rather spend the money on a good family shoot (hopefully with the bloating/some baby weight gone) for Christmas cards with the LO in them than maternity pictures.

Welcome back @MRSKC!!!
@JessiJ - I like your logic and I might steal it :o) I'll just look for a good option for newborn/family photos!!!
GOLD / wonderful olive / 19030 posts
@CarrieLouWho: That's what my plan is! I don't want to do family pictures the same time as newborn since I won't be "at my best" (so selfish I know haha) but would like to replace wedding pictures on wall with new family pictures. And to be honest I have no idea what I would do with maternity pictures since I know as soon as she gets here I will want as many pics of her as possible! I just see them going in a box/album never to be looked at!
persimmon / 1408 posts
@JessieJ- I'm totally with you!!! I feel the same way, I would totally shove maternity pics in a box and pull out all the baby pics!
bananas / 9357 posts
@jessiejo17: Really loving your idea of having newborn photos and then a family shoot in Nov! I thought I wanted maternity photos, but I've been thinking about it more and more, and just don't know what I would do with them. I'm thinking I'll do some DIY maternity photos and get professional baby photos done.
GOLD / wonderful olive / 19030 posts
@mrskc: That's my plan, I want to document my big belly, just not with an expensive photographer! I have a friend who has a nice camera so I will have her take a couple for keepsakes!
squash / 13764 posts
@CarrieLouWho: @mrskc: @jessiejo17: totally agree with you ladies. I think I found a photog who offers a package with a newborn shoot, 6 month shoot, and 1 year cake smash shoot. I'm pretty pumped, since I love her work and her prices seem "Reasonable" (for nyc anyway!)

@hilsy85: That sounds really awesome!
I have my anatomy scan today and a regular OB checkup. Looking forward to seeing my little man again. Is it sad another reason I look forward to my appointments is so I can leave work early? Do think they'll catch on that I always make them for Friday afternoon!? haha
squash / 13764 posts
@mrskc: haha i totally do the same thiing!! And because of my anatomy scans schedule and my OB schedule, I've managed to have a half day every other Friday for the past two months
bananas / 9357 posts
Hi ladies! Hope you all had a nice weekend. I had my anatomy scan on Friday. Everything checked out good with the baby. And he is still a boy! lol I also found out our chances for downs is 1 in 25,000 and Trisomy 18 is 1 in 100,000. Seems like pretty good odds to me.
I am supposed to due my glucose test already before my next appointment. I'll be 25 weeks at my next appt. I thought this test was usually done between 24 & 28 weeks? Just seemed kind of early for it.
Oh and I experienced my first stranger encounter asking about my pregnancy. I was in Michaels and this lady was like you don't look pregnant from behind. She said I was maintaining my weight well and that babies have increased chance of being obese or having diabetes if the mom gains too much weight. I thought it was kind of strange and unnecessary. Anyways, hope you all are doing great. sorry for the novel.

Hows everyone doing? Hopefully surviving the heat if you're in the Northeast - it's been in the upper 90s, feeling like 100 the past few days - brutal! I probably sound like a whiner to any of you in the south/warmer climate!
Had a little scare last week - but all is well. baby boy is trying to kick his way out.
I actually got a couple kicks clearly on iPhone video today!
How are you all doing? Feeling the same? Different - we're getting close to the third tri, or in it already! Woo hoo!
And we're finally registering tomorrow at BuyBuy Baby - i'm going to do Target too I think. What stroller is everyone getting?? That's been the hold up for me - I think I'm going with the Britax B-Ready with the car seat, OR the city jogger, but I don't think I can snap the carseat in that, and I like that function!
bananas / 9357 posts
@hellobeeboston: I was wondering what happened to everyone this week. I'm glad baby boy is ok! As far as a stroller. I'm thinking I'll just register for the infant car seat and the stroller frame to go with it. Then decide after he's born what kind of stroller would work best for us.
I've been getting a ton of kicks. I feel it multiple times a day. I love feeling him kick in there. Definitely gives peace of mind that he's ok. I've been doing good. Feeling really great. I'm really loving the second trimester!

@hellobeeboston: We're getting the BOB. Both of us run/jog/walk to most places so we know we'll get a lot of use out of it with this little one and future babies!
I've been doing really well this week. Baby boy is kicking a TON, all over the place and I love love love it We have our first baby shower this weekend! I know that it's SUPER early and it makes me nervous but I'm trying to just jump right in and trust everything will be okay. My sister is visiting from out of state and we wanted to make sure he's here for the shower so we're going for it! It's a co-ed backyard BBQ theme.
honeydew / 7235 posts
@mrskc: yay for kicks!I know - soooo reassuring! I was thinking about doing the same thing for the stroller with the carseat & frame, but I want to register for as much as possible now!
@Running Elley: looked at the BOB, but I'm not a runner, neither is DH, we will definitely do walks -- but I want more for running errands, getting around town, and the walks I guess... although, not that many walks for us since it will be getting cold fast! so it will mostly be a grocery/mall stroller. ha!
wow - a shower already! i haven't even registered!haha -- that will be super fun though - and great that you're doing it when your sister can be there.

Hey Ya'll!!! I'm feeling pretty good, I think I'm having a lot of round ligament "pain"... not sure how to explain it other than it feels like a bowling ball is sitting on my cervix and putting a lot of pressure on it. Not unbearable, but not super comfortable either, especially after I've been sitting a while.
But really... things are good overall. Hubs and I took a Newborn Care class and that went great. I think it's finally hitting him that this is real!
Stroller - I am registering for the frame for the carseat to snap into and the City Mini Jogger. I'm going to wait a little bit, but I'm going to try to Craigslist a BOB (babies can't be in it till 6 months, so I figure I've got plenty of time)... would like to be able to run/jog w/ the baby.
Registry - We might go in person to finish our registry this weeekend, we're doing Babies R US, Target & Amazon. I wish we had a Buy Buy Baby somewhere close!!!
Kicking - I can feel it, but b/c I have an anterior placenta, Hubs still hasn't felt her kick yet. :o(
@HBBoston - glad baby boy is doing okay!!! Tell him he's not allowed to scare you anymore!
@RunningElley - hope you have a great shower! So jealous you're having a Coed one!!
Hope ya'll have a great weekend!!!!
honeydew / 7235 posts
@CarrieLouWho: thanks! and yes - i told him not to freak me out anymore, i got a few kicks in return, so hopefully that was a yes - ha!
Yeah - the city mini jogger was the other one we were thinking about! a friend of mine mentioned it to me and said she really liked it - i will probably never jog with it though.
i'm actually looking forward to that newborn class! I am starting to feel like I'm not prepared enough for the baby! but I know we have time
have a FAB weekend!

@mrskc: I'm also getting my glucose test done at my next appt, I"ll be exactly 26 weeks...I picked up the drink today!
@hellobeeboston: Ugh this heat wave has been miserable for sure!!! It was pouring here today so hopefully that will cool things off. Yay for registering!! We haven't done that yet...maybe next weekend.
We DID get our stroller today, yay! We went with the uppababy vista. I was torn for a while between that and the bugaboo cameleon but I really just like the look of the vista better, and I think it's more versatile. I'm so excited--it should be here by the end of July! I may or may not just want to take walks with it around the city...weird, no?
@CarrieLouWho: I have also been getting a similar feeling at night--I thought it was bloating, but maybe it's RLP if its the same thing you have? It's definitely uncomfortable!
@Running Elley: @mrskc: Yay for kicks! Baby boy has been kicking up a storm the last few days...are you guys feeling them above your belly button yet? Our little guy is mainly below the belly button with some kicks right level with my belly button.

Hi October ladies!
Jeez I didn't even know this thread existed! It's taken me awhile to warm up to all HB has to offer;)
About kicks above the belly: yesterday was my first and I was staring in absolute shock! I can see them all the time and when I felt and saw one above the belly button I was stunned. I didn't even feel him go up there.
Apparently these lines represent where you placenta should be grown to at each stage. I am 24w 3 d so yes, it's def above the belly button:

Hey ladies!! I haven't checked in in awhile. Baby girl is kicking up a storm lately, she is definitely a mover! My OB was laughing at my last appointment about it, she kept moving away from the doppler. I was supposed to have my glucose test last week, but there was a mix up at my appointment so now I will be getting it right before 28 weeks. Can't believe how quickly time is going!!
We interviewed and found our pediatrician, and have our newborn class in mid July. I'm excited for this, it should be very informative (hopefully!) And then in August showers start up! So exciting!!
squash / 13764 posts
@TurtleDoves: yay, welcome to the oct babies thread! when are you due? Cool graphic! That' makes sense, I was 22 weeks last week and just feeling kicks right at my belly button. He should start moving up now!

@hilsy85: No kicks above the belly button yet.
Hope everyone had a nice weekend. The nursery is all painted and we picked out carpet on Saturday. It's getting installed today! I can't wait to see it when I get home tonight. I have been dreaming a lot about food lately. Donuts, cake, spaghetti, hamburgers... It seems like my dreams were really vivid in the beginning then not so much, and now I'm having more vivid dreams again.

@TurtleDoves: Hey there! Same turtleDoves from WB?? That's a neat little drawing.
@jessiejo17: Seems like things are moving so quick now! I think we're going to do classes in Aug and I'll probably have a shower at the end of Aug/beg of Sept.
GOLD / wonderful olive / 19030 posts
@mrskc: Yeah I have one in mid July, and then we are doing our Breastfeeding class in August. I know I have a shower the second week in August and then Labor Day weekend as well! When you put all the dates together it go so quickly YAY! I'm ready to meet my baby and I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels that way! haha

@turtledoves - Welcome!!! I am actually hoping I'm a little late (due 10/6/12), I would love 10/11/12 hahah
I had my 24/25 week appointment this morning, all is well with Baby Girl! I have to go in for my glucose test in the next week or so... Should be fun!
My showers are all schedule for the first 3 weekends in August. We have our childbirth class starting in August, and we have a few more scheduled (breastfeeding, pet, CPR, etc).
Now, I just have to pick a bedding set! I am struggling so much with that for some reason!!!!
squash / 13764 posts
@CarrieLouWho: me too!!! Besides the stroller it's been the hardest decision for me. What are you deciding between?
@jessiejo17: I was just thinking between all the doctor's appointments and other events going on this summer, it really will fly by!
bananas / 9357 posts
@hilsy85: Maybe the bedding is so hard because the rest of the room is based around it? Have you picked one out yet?

@CarrieLouWho: What themes/colors are you looking for? I searched for sooo many that I may be able to help you find
