@NBLChicago: I had spotting like that too a few weeks ago. It lasted on and off for a few days and has since stayed away. I drove myself crazy with worry but everything seems normal since. Hopefully you can stay busy and distract yourself! That's the only thing that worked for me till it went away

@NBLChicago: I've done so much reading on this and it's totally normal. If you even look back at the April 2013 mamas thread, they had women who went through the same thing and are still happily pregnant. Try not to worry!

@evenstar982: I'm sorry you feel so bad. I think it's just too early for some of us, but we'll all be there sooner or later to commiserate with you. I too read to always keep things in your belly (small snacks) and friends swear by preggie pops or lemondrops or mint gum.

@jbean: welcome and congrats!!! DH and I spent time in VT for our anniversary last year and I fell in love with it

Ok, confession: yesterday I forgot to take my prenatal and DHA supplement. I usually take it at lunch, but was with my boss and didn't want her to see them and told myself I'd take them right after. Then I forgot. I feel guilty! Do you think it would be ok, or do any good, to take two rounds today? I'm going to start taking them in the morning now so that doesn't happen again!

@marionberry: I got dropped off the EDD, hope that's not a bad omen?! Haha

@marionberry: I dig this list! Thank you so much for keeping track of everything!

I've had waves of nausea lately, boo to that. It's stil early! Also, my friend totally asked me point blank if I was pregnant and I was so awkward. "Um. Maybe. Um. Yes." Ha. We weren't going to tell anyone until the ultrasound and later into the first trimester, but she caught me off guard! I guess I should stop complaining about how tired I am. Oops.

But seriously. I'm SO tired. It doesn't help that my little lady has decided that she needs to wake up again multiple times throughout the night. Killer.

Anyway. Sorry for not being more active on this board, I've been trying to balance this tension of being really excited to bring another baby into this world, and attempting to withhold that excitement until I see a little bean on the screen. Once I have seen this baby with my own eyes via ultrasound I'll allow myself to get WAY more excited and involved with you all. Sorry, just need to protect myself as much as I can.

@MamaMagpie: I would not double up on the prenatal, only because there is so much iron in them that you may get super constipated (I speak from experience here!) and no one wants to deal with those cramps along with everything else.
Don't feel bad about forgetting one, at least you are taking them, a lot of moms don't bother at all! i actually take the gummy prenatal - it satisfies my sweet tooth so it's double purpose haha

This might be a silly question, but when you all scheduled your doctor appointments, did you do it with your regular obgyn? I'm asking because there are several different hospitals/birthing centers in my area and I have no idea yet where I'll want to deliver... so do I call my regular doctor or do I need to do some research and call a new doctor? Thanks.

  11. mlm2934

    grapefruit / 4311 posts

@jbean: I did, but I hadn't been going to one regularly, so this is only my second time going to this place, I was seeing a nurse practitioner, so will be first time with this obgyn. Figure there is lots of time to figure out final doc/hospital

How many of you have told people yet? I am nervous to tell early, but we are pretty much telling our closest family and best friends this weekend. I'm so scared to tell people, but my hubs already wants to drive the two hours to tell his parents in person - he even tried to get me to take work tomorrow so we could go before Sunday!

@runnerd: I told my sister when I got the test popped up positive. I'll tell my hubby tonight and then we are waiting until we hear the heartbeat to tell anyone else.

@runnerd: So happy for you! I remember you were going to 'wait' until the 20th to test!! So pumped. I am waiting until tomorrow (like you, I just couldn't will myself to wait until the 20th). Such great news.

  15. jetsa

    grapefruit / 4663 posts

Its soo early but I'm going to post here too. We aren't telling anyone else until we hear the heartbeat. Currently just my sister, my husband and I know.

Due Date: based on LMP date 22th September 2013
    based on O date 17th September 2013
Months It Took to Conceive: NTNP-9 & 9 more trying. I've been off BC since we got married in June 2011.
DPO You Found Out You Were Preggo On: Today, 21dpo tested on 14 dpo and BFN. I may have had my O date wrong.
Symptoms That Made You Think You Were Pregnant: My boobs are sooo sore and I feel like they are way bigger than normal. I feel bloated and a little crampy today.
    Child Number: 1
    Where You Live: IL
What You're Most Excited For: hearing the heartbeat, holding our baby.
What You're Most Scared About: miscarriage. it took so long to get pregnant, I don't think I could handle anything happening.

My first appt is 1/30! They'll do an ultrasound and bloodwork.

  16. MrsStormy

    clementine / 818 posts

@jbean: My appt is with an OB but he has been doing my pap's for a while, if I hadn't been already going to him I would just go with my regular GP, they can make some referrals for you too which is helpful to know who they recommend.

@runnerd: We haven't told people yet, but we probably will tell our parents soon, DH is really pushing me to tell them like now but I just need a little bit of adjusting time, so maybe in a week... I'd really like to wait for next weekend since I will be 6 weeks then. I'm a pretty private person so we will wait to tell friends until we have met with the Dr. probably.

We told our immediate family (parents and siblings only) about 5 days after we found out the good news. We will tell extended family after our first ultrasound. Everyone else won't be hearing for quite awhile.

As far as a doctor, choose where you want to deliver first. Doctors must be credentialed by the hospital in order for them to deliver there. If you don't care where you deliver, then you can pick doctor first. Right now we're with our RE and will be making that decision too once we are discharged from his practice. We haven't decided between our local hospital or one farther away which has an NICU if something were to go wrong. Oh and of course doctor could be an OB, an FP, or a midwife. It's up to you!

@runnerd: So far only my sister and her FI know - but we are going this weekend to tell DH's parents & his sister, and then will tell my parents on Sunday. I am so excited!!! Poor DH must be going crazy with me talking baby, baby, baby all the time. At least soon I'll have other people to talk about it with

We won't tell the rest of our family (aunts/uncles/cousins/etc) until our 10 week ultrasound and the rest of the world a few weeks after that probably.

On another note, the books I ordered came in - Mayo Clinic Guide to a Health Pregnancy for me and Dude You're Going to Be a Dad for DH. Two thumbs up to both! DH isn't much of a reader but has been reading it steady, laughing out loud, and sharing passages with me since he got it. I'm impressed!

  20. marionberry

    pomelo / 5041 posts

@char54: I have Mayo Clinic too and love it! I would've gotten DH that book but he won't read it. He was a nurse so as he says to me, "I already know anatomy" lol. I actually have like 8 baby related books. One of my faves was "Do Chocolate Lovers Really Have Sweeter Babies?" I'm only half way through it but it's all about the science of why you're baby turns out one way or another. Super intriguing to me.

Oh I broke my rule and POAS today (I convinced myself it was the once a week check to make sure it was still in there) and was so happy to finally see a dark wondfo. I'm going to try not to do it from here until our ultrasound now...but we'll see if I last.

BTW barely any symptoms right now. Anyone else in the same due date range still having few symptoms?

  22. mango.sprays

    apricot / 446 posts

@marionberry: Me? I'm a few days behind you I think, but I'm still feeling totally normal. Sometimes I feel like I might be peeing a lot, but then again it's probably just because I'm trying to drink extra water. I also POAS yesterday and got a nice dark line that made me happy to see. I've been pretty calm the last two days, but I get my beta results tomorrow, so I'm sure I'll be a wreck until I get that call....!

  23. mango.sprays

    apricot / 446 posts

@char54: The Mayo clinic book is sitting in my Amazon cart right now, let me know what you think of it! We actually already had a Dad-to-be book (joke gift from a few years ago....don't ask), and I'm really happy that DH has been starting to read it. I think it makes him realize it's serious when I tell him things I shouldn't do/shouldn't eat/etc.

  24. Charm54

    cantaloupe / 6885 posts

@marionberry: OMG I peed on a stick too for the first time in over a week today too...lol! I had one digi left and decided to use it up just to be sure since we are planning on telling our parents this weekend...still positive

I'm just a few days behind you and had no real symptoms today or yesterday - a twinge of cramping but nothing compared to earlier.

  25. jetsa

    grapefruit / 4663 posts

@marionberry: absolutely no symptoms yet for me. It feels surreal. I'm going to POAS in the am, I'm so scared something will have changed, I'm still looking at the stick I peed on earlier in shock. It took us soo long and this baby was so wanted, I'm sure you understand.
Also I have my first appt 1/30

@mango.sprays: I am really liking it so far! It looks like it will be a great go-to resource for the next 9 months. I was going to get What to Expect When You're Expecting but heard so many negative reviews about the scare tactics and I am already such a type-A nervous person I REALLY didn't need that!

My first appointment is Feb. 13th! It feels like so long to wait, but I'm so excited!

I also feel like every day I worry less and less about miscarriage. It still scares me, but I know the odds are my favor. And I love being able to talk to you guys and hear that my crampy, feel like af is coming, feeling is common and normal. I also have a lot of cm which makes me feel damp just like af. But my paranoia is lessening.

    @jetsa: @jbean: Welcome and congrats!

@mrsmoreau: thank you, I would not have thought about the effects of extra iron! That could've been really awful!

@char54: I got DH that book, too, and he did the same thing! It's really very cute

@marionberry: our EDD are close and I'm with you on the few symptoms thing. I've had a couple of days of cramping, but since then just a few twinges, lots of peeing, and a few random waves of "ick" feeling.

I have one digital left and I'm trying my hardest to wait until right before my first appointment in a few weeks...we'll see how I do with that!

PS Welcome and congrats @jetsa! So happy to have another September mama!
