I'm such a thread stalker. I don't know if this will help anyone, but it got me through the nausea! Eating lots of carbs even if you aren't hungry, sips of soda (for me, ginger ale and coke helped..they actually sell coca-cola syrup for nausea that my mom gave me when I was little!), and sucking sour patch kids.

The belly pop drops or whatever they're called at BRU didn't really help unfortunately, but they're still worth a shot! Gatorade helped and lemonade! I bought the biggest size McD's had to offer every day.

@mango.sprays: i know, i am just so impatient!
I have also had some CM - sometimes it is more than other times... that whole *area* is going crazy right now so I wouldn't worry as long as you aren't spotting. It can be really uncomfortable at times, if you are struggling with dampness (TMI!) try using a pad (NOT a tampon!)

Hey, can I join you ladies? I'm a LONG time lurker on HB. Just got my BFP this morning! I'm definitely in a little bit of shock today and I'm having a terrible time focusing at work!

Due Date: September 23 (according to LMP)
Months It Took to Conceive: 1- which makes me feel even more shocked, and guilty and a little freaked out
DPO You Found Out You Were Preggo On: 14 dpo (I think)
Symptoms That Made You Think You Were Pregnant: none really, although I started cramping last night and it has continued through today....
    Child Number: 1
    Where You Live: Ca
What You're Most Excited For: Telling my parents, seeing DH as a dad, and so many things!
What You're Most Scared About: Everything. I'm scared of having a miscarriage, I'm worried about timing, I'm worried I'm too young, so basically anything that could possibly scare me is!

@mango.sprays: @mrsmoreau: I've had moments where I have a lot of creamy CM and then moments of not having it. But you're right, when it's heavy it's super wet and I'm worried about getting a yeast infection from it if I'm not careful.

    @MrsStormy: Congrats and Welcome!
I conceived both pregnancies on the first month - it definitely is a bit of a shock, but don't feel guilty! it is a blessing!
Good luck concentrating at work - it's been 3 weeks since my BFP and I'm still completely distracted (obviously)

    @MrsStormy: Welcome and congrats!!!

@sorrycharlie: That is super helpful, thanks! I'm going to need to re-read that when/if MS sets in!

I had my flu shot today - I've never had one before so I was a bit nervous but it was truly painless. The nurse mentioned DH, grandparents , aunts and I should all get the whooping cough/tetanus combo vaccine. She said they will automatically give it to me when I deliver but I'm thinking of going early and getting it just to be sure!

AAHHHHHHHH I'm going crazy!!!! My BFP is way too light right now for me to officially join you guys, but question:

When y'all calculated your EDD, did you go by last period or OD? If I go by last period, it's Sept 24 (my bday!) or OD is Sept 30.

Well now I go back to staring at the wall at work and counting the hours until I can go POAS again and decide if this is real - I was NOT expecting a positive when I took that test, I'm only 9 DPO, and had negative with FMU. Anyways, AHHHHHHH

  10. mango.sprays

    apricot / 446 posts

@runnerd: SO exciting!! I started with a SUPER squinter on 9 DPO too. I've been using my LMP for now....but only because it says I'm due on my birthday and I think that's just awesome. I know it'll change though based on my O day, so I'm just enjoying it for now

@runnerd: Congrats!!! If you end up with your birthday as a due date I think you will be the third one on this thread that has happened to! The doc used LMP and it ended up as my bday!

  13. marionberry

    pomelo / 5041 posts

@runnerd: I used my o date, because I am 100% sure on that one given the IUI. Neither date would give me some cool date though, so I'm all for sticking with one now that excites you! Congrats again!

@runnerd: I'm using my lmp for my EDD since I think that's what my OB uses, but from my OD it is 9/25.

I'm totally bummed though because I just found out I wont see my ob until 12 weeks, I will go in at 9 weeks and meet with someone who works there, but she just said we would go over paperwork at that time, so I'm guessing I will not get to see or hear a heartbeat at that time

Ok, I said I was going to wait to officially join, but took anothet test and it was slightly darker, plus I'm not one to live life doubtful, so here is my official joining post:

Due Date: by lmp, Sept 24 (my bday!)
Months It Took to Conceive: 3
DPO You Found Out You Were Preggo On: afternoon 9DPO
Symptoms That Made You Think You Were Pregnant: none really. I had mild cramps since 6 DPO, and a weird pelvic pain, and some random boob twinges/pains for last 3 days - weird but not sure if they had anything to do with it.
    Child Number: #1!!!!
    Where You Live: Nashville, TN
What You're Most Excited For: becoming a family unit and experiencing this next stage of our lives.
What You're Most Scared About: everything! I've been so focused on trying to get KU, that now I'm wondering what I got myself into!!!

so excited to join y'all!! I've been lurking on the board and was so happy that y'all are chatty and love Pinterest... I need to go back and figure out that sharing boards thing so I can join y'all!

I know I'm late to the thread, so i have a lot of repeat questions im sure, but how are you ladies doing on not worrying about miscarriage? I have taken 4 tests today! I can't wait to see the line get darker.

Also, what is the first thing y'all did? I guess I'll call the doctor in the morning, and I bought prenatal vitamins tonight - is there anything else to do, besides stop drinking? Haha!

  20. Charm54

    cantaloupe / 6885 posts

@runnerd: congrats and welcome!! It's only been a week since I got my BFP but so far I have : bought fish oil pill in addition to taking my prenatal (heard it helps with brain development), got my flu shot, scheduled first OB apt, checked with pharmacist about the safety of my current prescriptions and pinned like CRAZY!! Haha

I'm obv worried about a miscarriage but as each day goes by with no AF in sight I start to feel a bit better. Knowing my symptoms (mainly cramping) are so similar to other ladies on this board makes it much better too. I'm just trying to live each day as a happy, pregnant woman until someone tells me differently!

@mrsstormy: welcome and congratulations! I totally feel you on the shocked/guilty/faked out thing! We made the decision to start TTC on Dec 25th and got our BFP on 1/9 -- so about two weeks later! Talk about timing!

@runnerd: hooray!!! I've been following you on the January POAS thread and I am SO excited for you to be joining us!!!

@MrsStormy: I'm nervous about calling for my appt tomorrow - crossing fingers for early appt but trying not to get my hopes up!

@char54: oh good one -- I haven't had a flu shot! Guess its ok to get it when pregnant?

@MamaMagpie: aw, thanks!! I'm so exciting to be hear, so surreal! The hubs and I just went and walked around the baby section at target giggling like little kids cause we can't believe it.

  24. marionberry

    pomelo / 5041 posts

@runnerd: I still worry about mc but not quite as bad as I did in the first few days. There's nothing we can do to stop it from happening so why bother. Not temping or POAS has helped me just enjoy being pregnant because I would freak every time a temp was low or a test wasn't as dark as the one before.

As far as what I did, I bought some more baby books, and started eating healthier, but that's about it. Already had prenatals, my RE had already set up an early u/s, and I already had my vaccines. I do keep myself busy by pinning too. It helps the whole thing feel real, since in my body it doesn't yet.

@mrsstormy, @runnerd, Welcome and HUGE Congrats!! So excited we have such a big September group...looks like 22 and counting...!

One of the first things I did was buy a good heart rate monitor. I'm still feeling good (knock on wood) and want to take advantage of being able to exercise while I do, but I also wanted to make sure I was staying in a safe range.

Hi ladies, sorry not been around the last couple of days... (Welcome to the new September mamas!) let's just say I am feeling pretty rough right around now! The nausea has seriously set in and it's no joke!

I'm feeling a bit of a wimp right now so could do with some sympathy if anyone has any to spare... feeling sooo sick all of the time (though thankfully yet to actually throw up) and it is starting to effect my productivity at work (and since I've not told my boss yet am trying hard to keep my symptoms under wraps!).

Worst part is, my mind keeps going all over the place and I keep thinking stuff like, "what if I'm going to feel like this for the next 8 months?" and "what if I HATE being pregnant" (I always assumed I'd love it...). At one point I even found myself *almost* wishing I wasn't pg, just cos I know I'd feel better. Sigh. Feeling sick, tired and confused - not fun!

    Anyone else feeling this way?

  30. mlm2934

    grapefruit / 4311 posts

@evenstar982: I'm not there yet, but I really sympathize!! I HATE HATE throwing up and am a huge baby about it - so def scared for how I will react and make it thru work!! If it stays bad, it might give you some peace of mind to tell your boss earlier than planned so you don't have worries about the appearance of your work ethic on top of being sick. Soooo little chance that this will last the whole time for you!!

AFM, So guys, if you had a faint positive the first day, how long did it take to get darker? My line got darker from 1pm to 8pm last night, but it's no darker with FMU today at 10dpo. I'm panicking and convinced the is just going to slowly start disappearing, please convince me it just takes some time to get darker!!

  31. marionberry

    pomelo / 5041 posts

@runnerd: if you read back I had the same worry. You can't trust sticks to always get darker. They're meant to tell you you're pregnant not how pregnant you are. I'd recommend at least cutting back to testing once a week and not worrying about the color.

  32. mlm2934

    grapefruit / 4311 posts

@marionberry: I have two more left so I promised myself I won't by anymore after they are gone haha

Called doc and got appt for Feb 14! The guy seemed slightly surprised when I told him my last period date and said I wasn't very pregnant (Not in a mean way). I told him we were trying so I am very on top of finding out

    2/4 mamamagpie
    2/4 futuremama
    2/14 runnerd
    2/15 char54

Did I miss anyone whos said or anyone want me to add ya?

  34. MrsStormy

    clementine / 818 posts

@evenstar982: I'm sorry your not feeling well I'm a total baby about nausea, so I'm really dreading when that hits! I hope its short lived for you. At least right now it can be a reminder that baby is safe and healthy in there.

@runnerd: My first appt at the Dr. is 2/11 even though I'm not sure we will accomplish much at that time, but at least its something to look forward to. Also I can't help but be fearful of miscarriage, but I'm trying just to relax about it, it is really out of our control, so I'm trying to stay calm and enjoy. Which is hard since I'm a total control freak!

  35. Bisou7585

    coffee bean / 39 posts

@runnerd: my husband wouldn't let me buy any more tests so I only took two. Instead I took the money and I would have spent on more tests and got a mani/pedi!

  36. NBLChicago

    grape / 77 posts

@runnerd: My appt is 1/29. Thanks for putting together this list!

I had a bit of a scare when I woke up this morning. I saw a quarter-sized brown spot in my underwear. I took a Wondfo test and am convinced the test line is lighter than the control. I spoke with a nurse in my OB's office and she said since it's a one-time spot, it's not bright red/period-like and I have no abdominal cramps, I shouldn't worry - it's apparently normal to have that kind of spotting right now. But I can't help but worry. I feel like I've convinced myself I'm about to MC.

  37. MamaMagpie

    persimmon / 1436 posts

@evenstar982: ugh that is awful Does anything seem to help at all? I had asked a question on HB about MS remedies (I'm assuming I'm going to get it pretty bad because I'm already feeling bouts of nausea) and there were some great tips! Things like tart apples, ginger ale, ginger or mint tea, nut thins, hard boiled eggs...most people said that keeping something in your stomach was the way to go, even when eating something is the last thing you feel like doing!

  38. MamaMagpie

    persimmon / 1436 posts

@runnerd: thanks for the list! I can't wait to hear how everyone's appointments go!

@nblchicago: I would be a little freaked out too, but if the nurse says it's normal, try your best not to over think it. I think especially since it wasn't bright red and you're not cramping? I know I've read so many women on HB getting nervous about the same thing, so you are not alone! Wishing you calm peacefulness today!

  39. NBLChicago

@MamaMagpie: Thanks sister. I appreciate the positive thoughts!

  40. NBLChicago

@evenstar982: I'm so sorry you're not feeling well! I had a wave of nausea overcome me yesterday but it doesn't sound it was as bad as what you're going through. You'll get through this and hopefully without vomiting. It won't last the entire pregnancy, I'm sure. Remember to keep something in your stomach at all times! Try to get some rest and hope you feel better!
