I haven't been around much cuz DD has been hospitalized for the last 8 days. BUT, I did have an US on Monday. I should have been 8 weeks but BB was measuring 6. My dr was a little concerned about this since I had an US REALLY early and she could see the sack, but if the BB is only 6 wks, she shldn't have been able to see it then. I'm really hoping this baby sticks and makes it. I have another US on Monday to check for viability. I'm pretty nervous and scared. But, if the BB is doing good and we just got a fluke look at the sack, then my new due date is September 17, the day before our 3 yr anniversary

@runnerd: I had spotting with my first baby. My dr told me it was the blood that occurs with implantation. Some people just absorb it, others spot. If its brownish at all, that means old blood. If you continue to spot, or it gets red or pink, I would call your dr, but if not you should be ok. I know how the nerves can be though

@Rosie Girl: oh I hope your daughter is better! and fingers crossed for sticky baby! I'm confused that the doctors said to you that she shouldn't be able to see the sack at six weeks?? I just had an ultrasound at 5w 4d and the doctor could make out mine and she said all looked completely normal.

@Mrs squirreld: thanks. No, my last US showed the baby being 6 wks, but I should have been 8. I had an US when I found out I was pregnant, blood work saying 4-5 wks. They could see the sack at that US. My Dr said that if I really am only 6 wks, they shouldn't have been able to see the sack at the first ultrasound, it would have been too soon.

@mrs squirreld: What great news! Glad everything went well and you got to see the ultrasound too! I go in for my u/s at 6 weeks and 5 days so hopefully I'll be able to see the heartbeat.

@rosiegirl: I'm sorry about your daughter and hopefully the last u/s was a fluke. Crossing my fingers for a sticky baby for you.

I'm starting to freak out because I am barely having pregnancy symptoms. I know there are many pregnant women who go their entire pregnancies with few symptoms but it worries me that something may be wrong in there. God please let Monday come quickly so that I can see my u/s and hopefully a happy, healthy baby, so that I can know that this is my normal, lol. Is anyone else thinking crazy thoughts?

@Rosie Girl: thinking of you and praying for great reports when you go back on Monday! And hope your DD is well too, that hospital stay must have been nerve wracking!

@Mrs squirreld: @mrsmoreau: glad y'all had great checkups, know that it's a relief for you both!

@marionberry: well you know I've been feeling that way LOL, but so glad you just have a handful of days left til the appointment and you can breath of big sigh of relief!

@marionberry: I feel exactly the same way. I don't really feel pregnant at all, which is making me nervous. I keep telling myself that there's no way to know what's going on. I just need to relax. After my last BFP, I had a ton of symptoms, but the baby didn't have a heartbeat at our U/S. Obviously, symptoms do not equal a healthy pregnancy!

The odds are on our sides! Stay busy this weekend, and good luck with your appt. I have to wait another 12 days, not that I'm counting

  16. jetsa

    grapefruit / 4663 posts

@marionberry: I agree with this. I'd love to start telling people this weekend but then I'm like well what if there isn't a heartbeat. I'm so nervous, 1 more week! I haven't had any symptoms although right now I'm feeling all woozie which I'm guessing is the start of something. I'm headed out in the field for a few hours momentarily so I hope I'm ok.

@Mrs squirreld: @mrsmoreau: Yay for good encouraging appointments!

@Rosie Girl: I'm sorry your daughters sick and you had a bit of a nerve wracking appointment! I'll keep you in my thoughts and cross my fingers for health for all your babies.

So random question but how have you guys changed your routines since your BFP? I'm guessing no alcohol and such but anything else? Part of why I'm wondering is I've heard you aren't supposed to use face wash with salicylic acid in it so I'm debating a change in that. Some of my changes have been, adding DHA to my prenatal vitamin, no alcohol, no caffeine (which I didn't have a ton of before, just iced tea once a weekish), and I've been going to bed so much earlier since I've been so tired!

@marionberry: No symptoms here either...I don't "feel" pregnant at all. Just trying to remind myself that worrying won't change anything...but it's hard!!

  20. mlm2934

    grapefruit / 4311 posts

@MrsStormy: I've switched to one decaf coffee in the morning opposed to my normal 2 regular coffees. And I've been going to be bed between 8-9, but that's mostly just because I'm worrying myself sick every day.

  21. futuremama

    clementine / 854 posts

@MrsStormy: my routine hasn't changed much. I'm drinking decaf coffee on the morning and cut out most other caffeine. I've also been going to bed earlier, but it's mostly due to my tossing and turning later. I've been eating much healthier and exercising regularly too, which is not as large a part of my regular routine as it should be. I'm squeezing in as many fruits and veggies as I can, just in case they don't sound too great in a few weeks.

  22. marionberry

    pomelo / 5041 posts

@runnerd: @futuremama: @jetsa: @mango.sprays: thanks for making me realize I'm not the only one without symptoms. Odds are that we're all carrying happy, healthy babies. It's too bad I can't drink right now to calm down more lol.

@mrsstormy: I read that too and immediately stopped using one of my face washes. Then today I used face wash at the house where I'm staying and after I put it on my face read that it had caffeine in it. I washed my face right away. While I know I can have some caffeine I've been trying not to have any in this crucial time period where the baby can be most affected. Otherwise I haven't done anything too crazy.

@MrsStormy: My routine hasn't changed too much either. I switched to a cup of decaf in the morning, I started drinking a small glass of milk with dinner, and I'm falling asleep early.

I also haven't really been having any symptoms. My breasts are still sore and like a lot of you I've been waking up more during the night and then am pretty wide awake early in the morning. It's sort of strange to be up on a weekend day at 6:30, but I'm also kind of enjoying the peacefulness of it.

Oh, I meant to ask you guys what you've been doing when you've been in social situations where there is alcohol? How have you been covering for the fact that you're not drinking? I'm not a big drinker, but I have two different events this weekend (a party with work friends on Friday night and dinner with three of my girlfriends on Sat.) where I'm wondering how to get out of having a glass of wine without being super obvious...

  25. jetsa

    grapefruit / 4663 posts

@MrsStormy: I hadn't heard the salicylic acid thing I'll have to check my face washes. I switched from regular coffee to half caff, gave up my diet soda at noon (i'll drink a regular soda if I need it) and gave up alcohol but other than that not much has changed.

I called my dr's office this morning and spoke with a nurse and a diff dr than the one I have appt with, neither seemed concerned about my spotting and cramping. Then I got a call that notes had been passed along to the DR I'll be seeing at 8wks, and she wanted me to come in for an ultrasound and meeting this afternoon. I'm pretty nervous now. Don't even know what an ultrasound will show this early. Hopefully this turns into a reassuring appt!

@runnerd: I'm sure it will all be great! So happy you get an early ultrasound!

  29. MrsStormy

    clementine / 818 posts

@runnerd: Don't stress too much (or at least try not to-as hard as that sounds), think of it as an opportunity to get an early ultrasound and extra peace of mind. Remember odds are in your favor! Good luck, and we'll be thinking of you, keep us updated!

I haven't changed much either, but I'm calling the Dr. today to ask about a flu shot so I will ask about the face wash and a fe other things... I am not really having any symptoms either, I have yet to have sore boobs at all, I've been more tired but not crazy tired, and I haven't been sleeping well so I'm sure thats contributing to it. And I have had fairly consistent minor cramping (although sometimes I'm not sure if its a cramp or just poop pains since my bm's have been slightly less than regular, which I normally am).

@runnerd: good luck this afternoon! I had the same sort of cramping/spotting and also got for an early ultrasound at 5w5d. It was nice to have the reassurance that everything was ok.

@marionberry: I started feeling like this today too. Like, I had this overwhelming feeling all of the sudden that this pregnancy wasn't going to be viable. But I know that we honestly have no way of knowing, this waiting...it's so hard, and these days, they just go by so slowly.

  32. LittleGBee

    apricot / 319 posts

@jbean: When I was pregnant with my daughter, my husband and I would switch glasses every so often, and I would put my glass up to my lips and just not drink anything. No one noticed. I also used Lent as an excuse so that people just thought I gave alcohol up, which was totally believable. If I were at a bar or something I would just secretly order a sprite with lime or something non-alcoholic looking.

Now I don't really go out all that much, so no pretending necessary! We have a wedding on Feb 2nd, so husband-man and I will do the drink switcharoo thing.

@Rosie Girl: I'm thinking of you and thinking 'sticky, sticky, sticky' for you!!

@marionberry: I don't really feel pregnant, either. In fact I have to remind myself that I AM pregnant. Sometimes I feel like I'm crazy for talking to the baby or hugging my belly. My cramping has pretty much disappeared. Now the only symptom I have is fatigue - but as a second grade teacher, that's pretty much the norm for me at the end of the day, pregnant or not!

@runnerd: lots of hugs!!! I'm sure everything will be fine and it's great that your Dr is so proactive. I haven't had any spotting since after we DTD last week so I'm hoping that's a good sign. Keep us posted!!

@MrsStormy: The only things I have changed are : taking omega-3 pill with my prenatal, flu shot, cutback on soda/junk , stop skiing (sad girl), and SLEEPING like crazy.

So I asked my Dr's office about the face wash thing, they said not to worry about it, its topical so it would not penetrate the placenta.

Thanks to everyone for the encouraging comments! I have no logical reason for why the doctor would bring me in for ultrasound this early (well I guess rule out ectopic) since i really was honest that it was very minimal spotting, but everything looked like it should for being less than 5 weeks, and I got to see a little black dot on the screen! I think God knew I needed to see a doctor because I've been such a mess with the worrying!

This was my first time meeting the doctor, and I already love her for calming my fears and telling me that my uterus lining was nice and thick, and cervix was closed tight! She was very nice, and laid back. I feel like I can make it through the next few weeks a little better now!
