@runnerd: HA! I read that you're supposed to gain two pounds in the first trimester. I'm up 2.5 with a month to go.

@runnerd: I've been using a hair elastic to hold up my pants (thanks for the tip!!) all the while googling "first trimester weight gain" "9 week baby bump" and "healthy pregnancy exercises".

Another good follow up appt today! DR did another quick u/s on the crappy one, and was very happy with things. And I love how much my dr goes extra mile to ease my worries. She offered instead of waiting until 12 weeks, to bring me in 2 weeks for now for another quick u/s just for my peace of mind. Very nice!

@runnerd: That's SO great to hear! I love that your doctor is so awesome.
cantaloupe / 6885 posts
@runnerd : What fabulous news!! I'm hoping our doctor tomorrow will oblige my worries and give us a peak of the baby. I'm counting down the hours!
My boss offered me this great professional development opportunity for tomorrow....but I had to decline since we have our first appointment and DH has already taken the day off work (plus I am way too excited for it!) Anyway, I basically had to tell her why I couldn't go. She was so thrilled and excited - it was a great reaction! Now we really have to get on to telling people, lol. DH told the man who is buying his car that we are having a baby...it seems like everyone knows but our friends!!
FYI: If anyone is feeling like having a really good pregnancy hormonal cry, check out Kelle Hampton's blog. A friend sent me the link and I BAWLED LIKE A BABY through the whole thing. It's her daughter's birth story, and how she doesn't find out that she has down syndrome until her birth.
It wasn't sad or scary so much as beautiful and uplifting and real. I checked out the rest of her blog afterwards and it's fantastic.

Don't forget the kleenex (and don't say I didn't warn you).

@char54: Ugh that was sad, but good sad. My friend said there's another great story out there that she's going to send me. Once she does, I'll share it.

@marionberry, @runnerd, @char54: My first pregnancy? I gained 13lbs my first trimester with my daughter. I think that was a LITTLE excessive, but I did what I had to do. Also, I think it's so important to understand that everyone's body reacts differently to pregnancy. Do your best to be healthy, and your body is going to do what it's going to do.

@char54: omg, too much for my heart to handle. The two lines that really made the tears start flowing:
1. Love me. Love me. I'm not what you expected, but oh, please love me.
2. I asked for my dad to be let back in the room. And when he walked in, I cried again. They think she has Down Syndrome.
And he smiled as his eyes welled up with tears and he said, "That's okay. We love her."

@char54: I've read this before and its so good, just thinking about it made me tear up, which is why I cannot read any of it right now while I am at work or I will be a mess!

@MrsStormy: I'm thankful my massive weight gain last time helps you feel better. For what it's worth, I was feeling HUGE and crummy today and I decided to step on the scale to get a reality check on my weight. I've lost a pound in the past two weeks and I spent the rest of the day feeling quite skinny. Silly brain.
clementine / 818 posts
@LittleGBee: Haha it wasn't so much your massive weight gain as your, "Also, I think it's so important to understand that everyone's body reacts differently to pregnancy", but I'll be honest your previous weight gain makes me a feel a bit more normal I haven't gotten on a scale in a while because I'm scared, I really should.

Hi everyone!
I'm sorry I haven't been around in a while. Work has been nuts and I've been trying to keep myself busy so the weeks past faster. I have a lot of catching up to do!
But we had our first appointment today and everything looked great, thank goodness! We're measuring right at 9 weeks which I thought may be the case because I ovulated late in December so our due date was adjusted. But what a relief to actually see something and know things are going okay!
@runnerd: glad to hear you had a great appointment today, too!!

It's also a bit hard to read, but on the box with the egg its says "When your children leave your nest, they create a nest of their own" ... "crack open the egg"

OMG You guys. We are our appointment today....and got to hear the heartbeat with the doppler! My dates are right on - 9 weeks today. Due date got bumped up to September 20th. It was the most beautiful sound I've ever heard. She had a lot of trouble finding it because it's still early, and we would hear it for a few seconds then the cheeky baby would move and we'd have to find it again. But the heartbeat was nice, strong and fast. What a relief!!! We go back in a month for our next appointment.
We are going to tell the masses today...doctor said at 9 weeks hearing the heartbeat miscarriage rates are very low so we are comfortable spreading the news. What a great day!!

Also even better news, I'm only up 4 pounds! When I stepped on the scale I thought for sure it was going to be 10. They gave me a mini lecture about how I should only be up 3 pounds for 9 weeks pregnant but I rolled my eyes and did a mini celebration in my head. I'm sure I have a baby bump and glad I don't have to hide it anymore. We basically just did a texting/phone call blitz and will let our parents/sisters put it on facebook. Eep!

@mrssquirreld: that is SUCH a cute book! And thank you for the link to the template! I feel like I'm the only one who hasn't started anything like this, though I haven't even taken bump pictures yet...except for a little while there in the beginning when I felt super bloated, and sometimes at the end of the day, I just don't see a bump yet. And I really want to! Maybe I'll start taking them anyway
