Our appointment went great! Our baby danced and has a heart rate of 182bpm. My calculations for due date said 9-18 but both ultrasounds have now officially confirmed 9-19. I'll update once I get home to my computer.

Well I'll go first. It's not a great pic because it's a pic of my ultrasound pic from my phone, but here ya go. 9w6d.

@marionberry: aww love it! That's a legit baby in there! my last one is nothing to show off but posting anyways. Cannot wait for the 9.5 week one!

@runnerd: my six week one looks similar to that too. It even has baby in the left and the yolk sac on the right like yours.

@marionberry @runnerd : AHH!!! Love those!!!! What precious tiny babies. I'm so glad to hear your apt went well (I knew it would!)

We are going on snow day #3 here ... I've been up since 5am hoping the ultrasound doesn't get cancelled like everything else in town. The plow guy still hasn't come and we've got at least 40cm in our driveway with another 20 on the way today.

I told DH we will take a cab if we have to...he's laughing and saying good thing we aren't in labor! I just can't wait to see our little baby today and hopefully snag my own picture to post!

@char54: Oh my goodness what a storm!

@marionberry: @runnerd: so precious guys! the 9w one is like a legit baby yay! My last photo was 6w and I don't get another until 12w.

So I announced to my bosses yesterday. I got take all the unpaid time you need...lovely. We don't have short term disability or anything. I'm guessing I'll have to be back at 6w what are everyone else's maternity leaves like?
Final thing, my bosses dad passed away sunday so we are all going to the funeral, and check out this pic. I've always had a pooch but this is more than that and this dress clings, hopefully none of my co-workers ask but at least my bosses know.

  12. marionberry

    pomelo / 5041 posts

@jetsa: yay for a baby bump! My boss doesn't want me gone long either. I can take up to four months unpaid but I can't afford that so we're thinking two months and then come back at least part time after that. We will see!

@char54: can't wait to see your ultrasound! I hope you get all that snow out of the way or take a taxi. I'm sure you wouldn't miss it for the world!

  13. mlm2934

    grapefruit / 4311 posts

@char54: fingers crossed that snow doesn't mess you up!!!!

@jetsa: aww so cute and love that dress. That's still smaller than where my belly is right now due to cookies haha

I dont know our official policy, but since I'm in benefits I've been checking out records for people who had babies and it looks like most of them were out 12 weeks with full pay, but I can't wait to tell work so I can officially know the policy and what to expect! I plan to tell at 10 weeks after our next u/s

ETA: actually looks like 8 weeks paid, then anything over is unpaid.

  14. Charm54

    cantaloupe / 6885 posts

@jetsa: adorable bump!!! I can't wait until mine looks cute like that and not like a roll. That's a bummer about your mat leave. I can't believe they don't offer anything. I'm from Canada so you probably don't want to hear from me!

The ultrasound was so great! I was a bawling mess. I couldn't see much the way the screen was but the doctor was great at explaining everything. He showed DH every little detail - even five little fingers on each hand!

The doc said the heartbeat was 166, but the printout of the HB he gave me says 130 - which seems low? Regardless I'm trying not to worry because everything else went so great.

I measured exactly 9 weeks 6 days - I knew my dates were right! Sept 20 it is
    Here's our little munchkin!

@runnerd: Ha, thanks! So jealous of your 12 weeks! I'm hoping once it sinks in they'll offer something (50% for 6 weeks) but I may be dreaming. I work for a tiny company so maybe I should just be thankful they are giving me unpaid time but ugh.

@char54: aww so sweet! You guys are making me want another scan lol. My 6w pictures are just a dot lol. Yea, I knew the benefits would be crappy but oh well. Thank you!

@char54 what an awesome sono! I almost cried when I first saw the baby just out of pure relief.

Can't wait until my next ultrasound in two weeks!

re: maternity leave -- I am talking to my bosses tomorrow. I am an attorney at a super small firm, I haven't already discussed with them previously about taking 3 months off when I have a baby as far as paid time off I do not have high hopes.

Thanks everyone! I've been staring at the picture all day. It still blows my mind that it started off as microscopic cells and now here we are!

We are going tonight to look at a house tonight for the 2nd time...if all goes well we will be making an offer! It's so nerve-wracking but also exciting. I feel like life is finally on a roll after being on hold for the past 2 years (wondering if DH would get transferred for work or not). I'm just so happy!

@littlegbee @mrsstormy Morning sickness is the worst. I was sick for like 16 weeks with my DD and have been worse with this baby. I finally called the Dr and they gave me an antinausea prescription. I feel sort of freaked out about taking it but at 8 weeks I had lost about 7 lbs. so probably better to be eating. Hope you feel better soon and truly it's so worth it in the end.

I finally go in for an appointment and u/s on Tuesday. Excited to see baby and hopefully get a "healthy pregnancy" thumbs up. I'm wondering if this will be my only ultrasound. With DD we had one early because if spotting and I think one around 18 weeks. We are team green so no anatomy scan and we declined most of the tests so this might be it.
Fun to start seeing little teeny baby photos.

@char54: What house did you decide on? Big and expensive or slightly smaller and affordable? I'm so jealous your doctor spent time to show you fingers and stuff. Our RE was running so behind that we didn't get as much time and description as we might have. He did show us the brain though, lol.

Thank you to everyone who wished me well about my appointment. I finally feel like this is real. I'll feel even better when I'm visibly showing. I thought I was, but it must've been bloat because it's been gone for a few days.

  23. Charm54

    cantaloupe / 6885 posts

@Joanlindsay: Oh no! I hope you are feeling better soon....good luck with your u/s My hospital does one and only at 20 weeks (we are team green so they just skip over the gender anatomy parts!) but I was able to get this one since they thought I might be farther along.

@marionberry: We are going with big and expensive! (Yikes, that scares me just saying it, lol). But after going through the other house a few times we realized it needs more work than we thought. This home is literally turn key which will be so nice. We are hoping to get them down a bit in price but I'm the worst negotiator ever so DH has to take care of that! Lol!

  24. marionberry

    pomelo / 5041 posts

@char54: Oh I'm so excited for you! We had really wanted to buy a house this year before baby, but houses are pretty expensive where we live, and if we get a house we won't have any money left over for baby or emergencies. So I think we decided to wait a year (totally bummed about it) and rent a house instead so that we can save up more money.

  25. Charm54

    cantaloupe / 6885 posts

My sister just pointed out something to me...look at the baby's head on the ultrasound picture...there's a heart (shadow?) right in the middle. I don't know why but I find it so sweet! This baby already feels all the love that's out there for it

  26. Charm54

    cantaloupe / 6885 posts

@marionberry: That's our only saving grace is that houses are relatively cheap here (among the cheapest in Canada, actually). There are so many expenses this year that it's a bit frightening! I'm actually fine renting but DH is the one itching to get out. Our house we rent now is older and he's getting frustrated with all the little things that keep going wrong. You're smart to rent and save up $$ - then you can have the house you really want without the worries. Plus when the baby is so young space isn't a huge issue. By the time they're running around and needing lots of room you'll be all ready to move!

  27. marionberry

    pomelo / 5041 posts

@char54: Yep very good point! And you're right, I see the heart. That's so cute!

  28. mlm2934

    grapefruit / 4311 posts

@marionberry: yea totally agree with @char54, it sucks now, but you will be happy that you waited instead feeling strained when you get a house!

So are widening our circle of people in the know! Told one of my best friends who lives out of state, it was so fun to hear her reaction! Tonight we are telling two other friends, my bestie's sister and her husband.

  29. marionberry

    pomelo / 5041 posts

@runnerd: Yay for telling people! I'm working on an idea for our public announcement now and plan to present it in the next week or two to everyone via FB.

  30. mlm2934

@marionberry: we are at dinner waiting on our friends and I'm having panic attacks that after we tell more people there won't be a heartbeat next week.

  31. Charm54

    cantaloupe / 6885 posts

@runnerd: it's so fun telling people! I panicked too after we told the world sure that I would start miscarrying.

I found this great research article online today - I like that its a legit science based article and it calmed me down a lot! Basically at 9 weeks after a normal first appointment with ultrasound MC rates go down to 0.5%. They lay it out week by week - the 8 week rate is really low too!

    http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/m/pubmed/18310375/

  32. mlm2934

    grapefruit / 4311 posts

    @char54: I really needed that!!

  33. marionberry

    pomelo / 5041 posts

@char54: @runnerd: I read a very similar article about that too. 9 weeks with heart rate is a .5% mc rate. It made me really calm. Plus we're getting so close to the first trimester ending, and that's when everyone says you're "out of the woods". So have faith! I'm sure we'll all be good from here on out.

  34. jetsa

    grapefruit / 4663 posts

@runnerd: Almost all of our friends and family know. The rates of mc are so low now that I feel comfortable with it.

  35. MrsStormy

@runnerd: We still haven't really told many people, but every time someone finds out, I seriously panic and think all my symptoms are gone and something is going to happen, its silly, but normal!

@char54: How did going to see the house again go? That is so exciting! Big and expensive was gorgeous, that will be a great home to raise baby

Also I only have 1.5 weeks until my ultrasound, thank God, because reading all those statistics just doesn't help me, here I am at 10 weeks tomorrow, and I still can't feel much sense of relief, or even like we can tell anyone. Thankfully we will be out of town this weekend, so that will hopefully make time go faster!

Hey ladies! I haven't been on here for awhile but I just wanted to check in and say hi. I had my 12 week appt today and we were able to hear he heartbeat with the Doppler. According to their scale I have lost 3 lbs since I got pregnant, but according to my scale I have stayed the same. Because I am still BFing DS I have had to eat an absurd amount of food and its hard to keep up! So after the appt DH demanded I eat a burger, so we went to the mall, I had McDonald's, we let DS play in the playspace, then I got cupcakes from Crumbs! Yum!

This pregnancy is going by so much faster than my first. I can't believe I'm already done with the first trimester! I even have my anatomy scan scheduled for April 9!

  37. jetsa

@duckduckkristen: Yay for good appts! I can't wait to go back for my next appt, 13 more days, they are going to try to hear the heartbeat with the doppler then.
