@char54: My husband will be off for 3 weeks total (all of his PTO for the year). Our plan is to have him home with us for the first week and then he'll be home the 2 weeks after I go back to work. We have decided we don't want to start daycare until 2014 so we are trying to make that work.

@marionberry: Yea, we decided on that a while ago. We really wish we could split the unpaid time so he could spend more time with the babe but he makes more than I do so its not worth it.

@jetsa: This is sort of what we are doing as well, I have the week between New Years and Christmas off from work so we didn't want to have just like one week of child care then a week off, so it just makes sense this way. -
The pregnancy milestone thread got me thinking, Saturday is 50 days to VDay for me! That is super exciting!

@MrsStormy: yep exactly. Neither one of us has it off but with all of the holidays in November/December it didn't make any sense to start daycare early. I get 3 days off in Nov and J gets 4 in Dec. We'll probably end up struggling (either begging help from grandmas or aunts or me taking extra unpaid time) towards the end unless this baby comes late.

@jetsa: That is smart! I'm hoping DH will get 2 weeks paternity leave at the start and then some time at Christmas. I bounced the idea off of him about splitting up our leave (in Canada you can share the last 9 months) but he wasn't too fussy. He said he'd get too behind in work.
@marionberry - I don't know how you US ladies do it with just a few months off. Super women you are!!!! Can't wait to see your gender reveal!! Are you still thinking boy????

@char54: I wish we got a longer leave, its just crazy to me that I'm only getting 4 weeks (my vacation and sick time) and then we plan to have me home for 4 more unpaid. Its just sad, if we couldn't afford it I'd be going back after 4 weeks which is crazy! Standard recovery time from a c-section is 6 weeks. The US is just behind on this issue to me!

@MrsStormy: I have an amazon registry (I can share it if you'd like to see) and I should probably start one a big box store but I don't know if I'm going to. I feel like I've seen so many posts lately of how people buy off registry anyway that I don't know if its necessary, I am team green though and not many will buy clothes I don't think.

@jetsa: OMG 4 weeks??? That is insanity!!! Most daycares around here won't even accept babies that are younger than 12 months - I think there's one in town that will take 9mo+. I'm worried about a whole year but realize it's a luxury and everyone I know has taken a year and absolutely loves it so I'm trying to think of the positive.
@MrsStormy: I have a Amazon wishlist called "Baby" that's more for myself so I remember what gear/items I've decided upon. I don't know if I'll do an official registry since in my small town we don't have any of the big box stores nearby. Most people just set up a table at the smaller local boutiques and people buy stuff off the table. We are Team Green too and from the showers I've been to, TG mamas get a lot more gear rather than clothes (which I hear is a good thing!)
We have our check up appointment tomorrow...can't wait to hear the baby's heartbeat again! My favorite sound. @marionberry have you been having fun with your doppler? I really think I want to get one. Dying to find out what you're having.... I'm saying GIRL!!

@char54: Ya all he wanted to do was sleep with his hands by his face. We could barely get him to move. He's already very lazy lol.
@mrsstormy: We went straight to Carter's after our appointment to pick out some cute clothes. It's what we did the day we found out we were pregnant too so that was memorable. I find most of the boy clothes still look kind of girly though.I'm just loving replaying our ultrasound video! It's so awesome! And we got two little 3d peaks for free which was even better!

oh my goodness I am already having a panic attack about naming my little girl.... I was all set on a boy name, but now.... agh! we have a few ideas, the one DH has always wanted is a little.... off the beaten path, shall we say.... I need to take a deep breath and realize that I still have 4-5 months to go! but... I am stressing! anyone else having a naming dilemma already or am I just neurotic lol

@mrsmoreau: If it turns out we're having a girl, we'll have a naming dilemma on our hands! We literally have no girl's names we are totally happy with. I'll let you know on Sunday whether it's a girl and we can stress together!
