@marionberry: oh I didn't purposely try to wake bub.. sorry if it came across that way... lol makes me some mean. I have been noticing this last week that his/her most active time is between 12am and 1am. DH finished work at that time so I drank some juice and laid down. DH has been feeling my belly every night for weeks as he has been dying to feel it. We tried again last night, but no luck. So I guess he was lucky to feel it when he did Apparently at the moment our babies are only awake for 6 hours in a 24hr period!! Crazy.
I feel better that everyone doubts themselves though... haha I feel like I am going crazy sometimes... I am hanging out big time for our gender U/S in 3 days!!!! woohooo

@char54 I/we took 3 classes when I was pregnant with our first. I found all of them to be useful. The breast feeding class was the best and helped out me at ease. The full day labor and delivery class was good as it gave a good overview of most of our options/what the procedures were like and familiarized us with the hospital. We also took a newborn care class that I mentioned off hand to my husband and he really wanted to take - it was very basic diapering, bathing, swaddling, but it gave him a lot more confidence which was great as he had never changed a diaper before our daughter arrived!

I tried to post at pic 3 times with text and it wouldn't work. Anyway, this is me at 18 weeks, I feel like I look like I just ate a lot but no cute bump yet.
The pants are amazing skinny black jeans from Loft, which I think are 40% off right now for friends and family

@Mrs squirreld: 3 days! Awesome!! And no you're not mean. I actually try to wake my little man up but only in the times he's usually awake so I guess I'm the mean one lol.

@marionberry: hahaaha we want them to be sleeping in the middle of the night not all day anyways right??
pomelo / 5041 posts
@Mrs squirreld: Ya. It was a total bummer when he slept through our entire last ultrasound. I'm hoping at my anatomy scan next week he'll be more lively because it's the morning. He always seems to be awake early mornings and right before I go to bed.

@marionberry: apparently orange juice or chocolate before hand is the best bet!
pomelo / 5041 posts
@Mrs squirreld: I will have to try that. I don't want him to be super squirmy either because I want them to be able to take some good pics and measurements. I've heard cranberry juice works well too!

@mrsmoreau: She is gorgeous!
I'm still not feeling movement, 1 week to the anatomy scan. I'm worrying that somethings wrong now that I'm about the last one to feel it but there have been no other signs that anything is.

I finally seem to have a bump but I still worry if I look pregnant, it doesn't seem round yet.
pomelo / 5041 posts
@mrsclownfish: @jetsa: Cute bumps ladies!
@jetsa: Don't worry much about not feeling anything. Mine are very light and they say most of the time it can take to 20 weeks or more to start to feel them. If you have an anterior placenta it can take even longer. I'm sure your baby's just fine! You have a doppler don't you? I use mine every so often now when I'm worried he isn't moving enough.
grapefruit / 4663 posts
@marionberry: thank you, im sure everythings fine its just hard not to worry. no I didn't buy one, I was going to and figured I'd be feeling the bean soon enough, now I'm regretting that decision.

Loving these bump pics!
@mrsclownfish: you look great! I also found some black maternity skinnies and they are the most comfortable things!
@jetsa: you can definitely tell it's a bump! Looking good! PS I love the beautiful wooded area you're in

Oh my gosh, you gals have the cutest bumps!
@Mrs squirreld: That's so crazy, I hadn't read that about the babies only being awake for 6 out of 24 hours!
@marionberry: DH jokingly yells at me because I'm always rubbing my belly or gently poking it to try to feel some movement.
@jetsa: Don't fret. I've read it can take up to week 20 to feel things move in there. Yesterday was the first time I felt "bubbles" so I'm in the same boat. Hoping we start feeling movement soon!

@MamaMagpie: thank you! That's my backyard.
@MapleMoose: oh good. I'm only 18 weeks so I've still got time

ok so i just did a weight gain calculator and it's telling me that i have gained too much weight - by 10 pounds!!! agh!
my doctor hasn't mentioned anything to me about it though... i wonder how much stock to put into those calculators.?
I am hungry ALL THE TIME though, so the thought of cutting back on my food intake is terrifying...
persimmon / 1436 posts
@mrsmoreau: If your doctor hasn't mentioned anything, I wouldn't worry about it! Heck, even if your doctor did mention something, I probably still wouldn't worry about it! I think there is no possible way those apps or online tools can be 100% accurate. For example, my pre-preg BMI was always considered "high" but since I'm tall (5'10") and athletically-built, it was not a good indicator of my health -- my body fat percentage was always in the "very good" range. So don't fret, you can't go by some randomly-decided standard because there's no way to incorporate things like muscle or even water weight.

Everyones bumps are so cute!!! I need to post a picture, I promise I will, I took a very bad pic this morning so if I can figure out how to post from my phone I will.
@jetsa: I'm still not sure if I'm feeling movement, I did have 2 times yesterday I thought hmmm maybe that was the baby, but I'm not totally convinced, so you aren't the last one!
@mrsmoreau: Oh my gosh I love her! Puppies are so fun and cute, good luck with potty training!

I think I felt the baby move once yesterday. I had a sugary breakfast and then right after I sneezed I felt this little muscle spasm/twitch thing in my uterus. Same feeling as a twitchy eye. It was over before I realized what was going on.
cantaloupe / 6885 posts
@jetsa: I'm not feeling much movement either. I think I'm interpreting every little tug and cramp in my belly as baby because I want to do badly. But if I have to be honest I haven't felt anything distinct that's made me say "that's the baby!'. I'm 18w3d and a bit nervous too that something is wrong, though I know logically a lot of women only feel their babies 20+ weeks, especially if it's their first baby. We have our ultrasound in 2 weeks and it will calm my fears so much!!

@MrsClownfish: @jetsa: ahhh! More cute bumps!!
For anyone who was/is worried about movement, maybe this will reassure you; I had felt a lot of movement the past week, but then this morning and most of today I have barely felt anything... if I didn't know exactly what I was feeling for I wouldn't think I felt anything at all today. I think it totally depends on how your baby is positioned... I guess baby girl just moved around overnight and is now snuggled further back so I don't feel the kicks against my front wall anymore, where it was much more obvious.
apricot / 251 posts
@Meltini: that was definitely baby! that is exactly how i described the feeling!
nectarine / 2522 posts
@Meltini: Yep that's what I feel most of the time too.
My baby must be a soccer player in the making to be feeling it almost every day now and have had DH feel it once. My mum said to me DH COULDN"T have felt it yet. How mean, who says that to someone. I know he did...grrr to her.
pomelo / 5041 posts
@Mrs squirreld: Your mom...so much like mine lol. I believe you. I put DH's hand on my belly yesterday and asked if he could feel the movement and he did!
nectarine / 2522 posts
@marionberry: She is soooooo miss negative about everything, she told me I looked huge and my bump was too big for my length of pregnancy...ummm ok. I haven't even put on any weight yet. I just said to her, everyones body's are different. Urgh sometime I just want to sock her! lol
I am super excited your DH felt movement!!! How exciting. I can't wait for full on kicks and being able to see your belly move!
pomelo / 5041 posts
@Mrs squirreld: Ya as much as my mom is often a big pain in the butt, she actually wrote me the sweetest note when I found out I was having a boy. It was nice to see her act like a mom again. I hope your mom gets like that too soon! But ugh, comments about your weight, I'd be like shut up! I can't wait for us to feel full on kicks and see our bellies move too! It's gonna be awesome! My friend and coworker is 2 months ahead of me and I was watching her belly move yesterday. It's so cool! I'm so jealous!
Another coworker also brought her 2 month old baby into work yesterday and me and my pregnant friend turned to each other and said, "we just want our own babies". I'm so past wanting to hold other peoples babies and thinking they're cute. I'm just ready to see and love mine on the outside!
nectarine / 2522 posts
@marionberry: oh totally! As much as I have alot to do before this baby comes...I want this baby NOW! I want to meet him/her. I want to feed bub, change bub, hold bub. I can't wait for my gender scan!!!
pomelo / 5041 posts
@Mrs squirreld: I can't wait for you to find out the sex. I'm betting girl?
nectarine / 2522 posts
@marionberry: I still have NO IDEA, DH is convinced its a boy. I think i will be shocked if its a girl, just because DH is usually right about everything.. hahaha.. but honestly i have no clue!
pomelo / 5041 posts
@Mrs squirreld: I just figure given your crazy cycle a girl would be more likely. How close to your estimated ovulation date did you guys do the deed?
nectarine / 2522 posts
@marionberry: We did it once in like 10 days and that is my exact day of conception, measuring to that day to a tee.... so that would be the day I ovulated yeah? Freaky huh!
pomelo / 5041 posts
@Mrs squirreld: Crazy! Well then maybe it is a boy! I'd love to see more mamas of boys. It seems like HB has lots of moms of girls.
pomelo / 5469 posts
@Mrs squirreld: @marionberry: We only dtd twice the cycle I got pregnant as we were away over Xmas and both times were after ovulation so I was sure we'd missed our chance that month. So when I found out I was pregnant I was convinced it must be a boy. I still don't understand how we can possibly have conceived a girl, unless DH has no boy swimmers or something!!
Excited for you to find out this week though, @Mrs squirreld:

I'm having my first sad mommy moment. My dad just told me he's taking a job across the country and while I'm upset he (and my stepmom and my brothers) will be gone I'm mostly upset at how this will affect my son, their first grandchild. My son deserved to have them in his life and it's really upsetting me.
apricot / 284 posts
@marionberry: hugs x I know it's not the same as being physically close by, but at least we live in a century with Skype etc. DH is similarly sad because our LO will grow up in the UK, far away from their cousins in the US, and he's sad our child won't have the same experiences of growing up with his family around.
We plan to make the most of technology and try to Skype etc often with the family overseas so LO at least knows who they are.
Presumably you'll see your dad at holidays etc still, and events like Christmas with family will be the stuff LO is most likely to remember, so you won't miss out there too much?
grapefruit / 4663 posts
@marionberry: I'm so sorry. My family is all over the Midwest/Eastern US and the one thing I've learned is that if you want to make it work you can but it has to be a two-way street.
pomelo / 5041 posts
@evenstar982: @jetsa: thanks ladies! I know we have Skype and we can travel to visit, but my parents are divorced, so now instead of a holiday shared between both of them I'll have to pick one person or the other to share it with. I think I'm mainly shocked because this wasn't expected and we just turned down opportunities to move out of state to stay close to family. Oh well, we must adjust and we will. I just wish my dad would've considered his older kids and grand kid before he made the decision to take the job. Sorry for my rant!
grapefruit / 4663 posts
@marionberry: Yea I definitely understand that! Its crazy what people don't think about at times.
