@evenstar982: you look great! I love your wedding outfit dress... can I ask where you got it? I need something similar for a wedding in July. Also whilst I'm being cheeky, what app do you use to write the text on your progress photos?
@jetsa: your nursery looks beautiful so far... good work mama! Are the other walls plain?
@MrsStormy: wow, those photos with the bird boxes are amazing!!
@evenstar982: another stunning nursery! well done you!
The woodland/tree theme sure is popular. I need to get myself some inspiration on pinterest, though you ladies have definitely helped with some ideas for ours.
We had our anatomy scan this afternoon. Baby girl is still a she and doing really well... all her measurements looked great. I felt like a bit of a proud mama when I saw her report the tech had written up! Just a little sad that that is the last time we'll see her until she arrives

@illumina: So glad your appointment went well and your she is still a she. I'm really looking forward to our anatomy scan next week but you're right, it's sad to think it would likely be our last one.
pomelo / 5469 posts
@marionberry: you'll love your appt. If it's anything like ours over here, which I'm sure it probably will be! The tech spent about half an hour with us pointing out all aspects of her anatomy... and some kind of thermal (I think, though could be wrong, technology confuses me!) imaging to show the heart is pumping correctly. She also explained how the baby was positioned which interested me... she was head down the entire time, whereas I thought she'd be lying horizontally at this stage. I just lay there in awe of this little person my body had grown!!
pomelo / 5041 posts
@illumina: It's going to be amazing, I agree! We got to see our little one at our elective scan, but the tech couldn't tell us anything about whether he was ok or normal or anything. Did the tech also talk to you about where your placenta was located?

I'm excited for our ultrasound in 2 weeks since it's also our last one (I was lucky to get a dating ultrasound at 10 weeks, most mothers here get one and only one at 20w unless something is wrong).
I'm also a bit nervous - I've heard from other local moms that it's not a warm and fun experience. They are VERY strict and will not allow your SO in the room until all the measurements are taken. The technician spends 30ish minutes taking pictures, measurements, and then brings your SO in to do a maybe 10 minutes overview of everything. Kind of bums me out because I want him there the whole time.
Also they won't give you any pictures! I asked my doctor at my last apt why this was and he said he would print some off for me once the photos the tech took got into my file at my next checkup apt.
It will be such a different experience from my 10w ultrasound when it was very laid-back, doctor explaining everything, DH in the room the whole time, lots of pictures for me to take home. I guess because it's a technician and not the doctor who does the 20w scan they are more strict, but it's a bummer since women who go to the next hospital over (45min away) don't have the same strict rules!
Okay sorry, rant over

Is anyone booking a 3D/4D ultrasound? They are elective here but we totally want to do one! Best time is between 26 -28 weeks apparently.
nectarine / 2522 posts
OK here is my board... it a bit dodge looking lol... let me explain it a bit!!
We own the cot, drawers and glider ( the drawers aren't the EXACT ones but very similar)
The wall collage of frames will be a mixture of some of the prints from the board plus pictures that DH & I drew as kids. In the middle will be his name in a wood grain look ( MAX is not his name, its just the only one I could find that looked similar to what I'm imagining!
Our main colours will be blue, green, brown with pops of orange.. this image looks a little plain but imagine, bold colours in the linens and some other pieces I have but aren't in this picture, like a big orange stuff owl!
The paper lantern will be mainly leafy, not all flowery and girly like in this pic!
SO yeah! That's it! Can't wait to see it come together.

@illumina: Aw you're making me kinda sad now, I forgot the 20wk scan is usually the last one! Better make the most of Monday then!
The wedding outfit dress was from Dorothy Perkins, but I got it in the sale end of last summer - they might have similar stuff again by now though. It's not maternity wear - just roomy!
@Mrs squirreld: Thanks! I had the opposite problem, DH said I wasn't allowed to spend cash on the vinyl when he knew I was capable of painting it myself for less than a third of the cost, bless him I'm glad he has faith in me
I *puffy heart* your inspiration board, its so cheerful! Still a tad jealous of that cute Etsy print...
My Charlie Banana cloth diapers from Zulily finally arrived today - they are TOO CUTE! I'm officially obsessed now.
pomelo / 5469 posts
@marionberry: yes, she told me it's posterior (which I knew from the last scan) and it's sufficiently high enough away from the cervix not to cause any issues.
@char54: I'm sorry your hospital sounds a bit strict I understand though, it is a serious examination. At least DH will get to be there for some of it... to be honest the part where she was pointing out things to check was so zoomed in that mostly I hadn't a clue what we were looking at or what angle that was from so he may not actually miss much!
@Mrs squirreld: I would love to have another 4D view and see what she's looking like later once she bulks up a bit. Though as we've paid for 2 electives already another one might be a bit excessive. Your inspiration board looks adorable! I can totally picture what you mean by the lantern... it will be beautiful. I'm so jealous of all the creative mamas on here!
@evenstar982: aww, I'm sorry! But still, yes, make the most of it! Make sure you get some photos... I still find it funny that she doesn't fit on the screen anymore so now the u/s photos are just her head and most of her body. Thanks for the tip, DP is one of my usual go to shops, so I'll check them out. I've seen some nice non maternity ones in M&S too, though I'll have to leave it until the last minute to see what size I am at the time!

@Mrs squirreld: our dr office does one at 32 weeks, it's considered a perk of using them.
Ok ladies, help me out. I've been having pain, what feels like my stomach tightening and untightening since around noon yesterday and also been super uncomfortable. I was trying to wait it out bc I just thought it was my uterus stretching and I have an ultrasound tuesday but it's still going on. So am I being silly to head to urgent care today? My dr isn't open. It's a bad enough pain it woke me up once last night. I'm just so scared this baby isn't ok.
nectarine / 2522 posts
@jetsa: I get them too. Apparently they are Braxton hicks!! I never knew you could get them this early but apparently it's common. My dr said as long as you don't have more than 4 in an hour it's fine. BUT if you feel they are really painful or are worried that something is wrong dont hestitate to go to urgent care!!!
grapefruit / 4663 posts
@Mrs squirreld: thanks for the quick response! i would have never guessed I could get them this early! i'm going to talk to my husband but probably go get them checked out

@jetsa: It's always better to be safe!! Hope you get some answers and all is well

@jetsa: @Mrs squirreld: Wow seriously BH contractions already?! I agree though, if you're at all worried far better to go and get checked out and reassured.
nectarine / 2522 posts
@evenstar982: yeah freaked me out! Mine weren't hugely painful but my belly would go like a rock. Dehydration is sometimes a cause so I've been drinking a ton... Seems to have helped. I haven't had them for a few days now!
pomelo / 5041 posts
@Mrs squirreld: Freaky! I've had random pains but no idea if they are that. The night before last my stomach was rock hard though in the middle of the night and I wondered why. Good to know when you should worry about them.
@jetsa: let us know how your urgent care visit goes!
Today we're going to a giant children's resale expo but I'm not sure what I will actually pick up. What would you buy already used?
nectarine / 2522 posts
@marionberry: oh that sounds fun!! I wanna go! I would just about buy most things second hand except, mattress, car seat, linens... Things that go in babies mouths! Aslong as they are still current with safety standards I say go for it !! Can't wait to see what you get!!!
pomelo / 5041 posts
@Mrs squirreld: Great advice! I really hope it's quality stuff. We went to a smaller one a few weeks ago and honestly the items were severely worn and out of date. If there are quality items I'm sure to bring home at least something!

@marionberry: Fun! I'm trying to find a mamaroo swing 2nd hand. We are heading to "the city" next weekend so I'm hoping to score some stuff then!
grapefruit / 4663 posts
@marionberry: @Mrs squirreld: @evenstar982: my husband made a good point, the dr at our urgent care is not at all educated in pregnancy so pretty useless. I called the nurse line for our insurance and they were also useless. I guess I'm just going to wait them out unless they get worse.
@marionberry: I'd buy just about anything used. So far I've bought or been given a bouncer, swing, and an infant travel system.
pomelo / 5041 posts
@jetsa: @char54: @mrssquirreld: We didn't find a lot of gear that we wanted but I did pick up 5 medela microwave bags for $2, a nursing cover for $3 and about 20 pieces of clothing for $45. We only spent about $50 total which was great for the quality of clothes we got. We also stopped by Target and picked up a playmat that was on sale (I'm on this mode that we need to buy items from our registry because I know we'll have lots leftover) and Target has also been having a Chicco 20% off sale that will end today with free shipping, so online I picked up one of our carseat bases. I feel pretty productive. Yay!
Oh just had to share that DH is intent on our son wearing overalls constantly (I think we now have 5 pair) and I keep suggesting our poor baby needs something more comfortable. I never thought that the one thing we'd argue about relating to our baby would be his clothes lol.
cantaloupe / 6885 posts
@marionberry: hahah thats so cute about the overalls. The only con DH had for being team green was that we will have to do a gender neutral room. He honestly wanted to do a Chicago Blackhawks themed nursery if it's a boy. I thought he was joking until he went into major detail about his vision - red walls with black stripes, lifesize Jonathan Toews decal and a hockey puck mobile.
It was clear he'd spent some time thinking about this, lol. I tried to stifle my laughter while kiboshing the whole idea!!
pomelo / 5041 posts
@char54: HAHA that's great! That would totally be me, somehow being like "oh bummer" and meaning "yay!". I've already kiboshed DH's vintage batman nursery but I had to give in and at least let him get Jackson a batman tshirt and hat.
nectarine / 2522 posts
@marionberry: I'm glad you still found some stuff!!!

Has anyone's weight started packing on lately? I'm always hungry now and I had been behind in what you're supposed to have gained but in 2 weeks I'm now up to 7lbs gained. How much has everyone else put on?
cantaloupe / 6885 posts
@marionberry: I haven't stepped on the scale since my last apt 2 weeks ago. At that point I was up 5.5 which they said was a bit below average. But I have a feeling I am WAY up now though - I am ravenous all the time and if I don't eat ASAP I get nauseous. I try to make healthy choices but sometimes a bowl of ice-cream sounds a lot more tempting than a granola bar!!
pomelo / 5041 posts
@char54: HAHA ya I can't say I've been the healthiest eater since getting pregnant. I try, but when you crave sugar and carbs it's hard, lol.
grape / 98 posts
@marionberry I'm up 4lbs total. Starting to just want to eat though. Slow weight gain is the only perk to bad first tri MS.
We are visiting family in the south and I have been craving Chik-Fil-A and this AM I ate a million donuts. Lucky for my waistline we head home tomorrow.
pomelo / 5041 posts
@Joanlindsay: Oh I love Chick-fil-a! We don't have that here but when I go to the South I can't resist! And donuts too! You sound just like me. Those would be my cravings.
cantaloupe / 6885 posts
@Joanlindsay: Mmm I love Chick-Fil-A too! I used to work in North Carolina in the summers. Now whenever I go back to the States I have to hit up all my faves (Olive Garden, O'Charley's, Panera...) My mom, sisters and I are going to Boston this summer shopping and I have a feeling it will turn into a food tour for this preggo lady!!
nectarine / 2522 posts
@marionberry: I haven't gained anything... It's starting to worry me. I know I was really sick for the first 16 weeks so my doctor said she understood why I haven't gained anything. But even though ms has now passed I'm never actually hungry. BuT my bump is kinda big so I guess fat is getting sucked from somewhere! I wish I would come off my thighs!! Lol
pomelo / 5041 posts
@Mrs squirreld: Haha! I used to say that's why I wasn't gaining weight..that Jackson was eating the plenty of extra fat that was already there. I wish that we're true and he could eat off my thighs lol. You're so lucky you haven't gained weight yet. I'm so jealous! I think maybe I need to eat healthier.
nectarine / 2522 posts
@marionberry: yeah just never hungry... Nothing ever appeals to me... And when things do its fries, carbs or junk food!! Poor little guy! Thankgoodness for multivitamins! I'm sure it will change though ill probably balloon up shortly!!! I don't think it helped that I was a bit overweight to begin with!
apricot / 284 posts
@marionberry: I honestly don't know how much weight I've gained... my scales at home give me a totally different reading to the first one my midwife took! I weighed myself this morning and I'm only up about 6lbs so far? Which I'm not sure is enough?!
On the bright side, I have my 20wk scan today and been feeling LOTS of movement all weekend so I'm sure the little nugget is ok in there - just hope they say I'm on track!
DH is headed home to Texas on Friday, for TWO WEEKS... I'm staying put in the UK as I didn't fancy the long flights or being so far from home in case of problems... but regretting it slightly now as he keeps teasing me about everything he's going to eat while he's away! If only he could bring me back Bill Miller's sweet tea and popcorn shrimp and mash potato from Popeyes... *drool*
