@mrsstormy: Love the tree, especially the heart!

To everyone else there are so many comments to your comments so I'll just write in generalities.

Thanks everyone for the support on our decision about dsd. We haven't had the conversation with her yet, but we will. I'm feeling much less stressed out since deciding we wouldn't take on that expense.

I've also had aches after sleeping, especially in my hips and lower belly. They suck! It makes sleeping rough. In fact I woke up with a BH contraction at about 3am - or assuming that's what it was because my belly was rock hard. Anyone else have that happen to them?

My boobs have already grown one cup size, requiring a new bra for me about 2 months ago. I picked up a nursing bra recently at Target for when baby gets here but I think if my boobs get bigger again before the baby is born I'd likely get another new regular bra instead. Nursing bras are just no VS if you ask me, lol.

@MrsStormy: That looks fantastic! I wish we could paint.. We've just ordered our wall decal though

I just wanted to say it's a 100 DAYS TILL MY DUE DATE!!!! eeeeek how did that happen??

@marionberry: sleeping while pregnant just isn't the same. I sleep almost all night and wake feeling like my eyes haven't closed.

Is anyone else going to do a 3D/4D ultrasound? I just booked ours for next week to surprise DH!

  6. MrsStormy

    clementine / 818 posts

@Mrs squirreld: Honestly had I realized how much work it was going to be, I would have ordered a decal, but I was being cheap, and nesty I guess. We aren't doing a 3D/4D, our Dr. gives us 3D pictures and views at all of our ultrasounds, so I don't feel a super strong need for more, but also I find them a little creepy, although they are totally neat, I just don't think its for us....

Agree with you ladies, sleep is not the same!

  7. Mrs squirreld

    nectarine / 2522 posts

@MrsStormy: Oohh how lucky! We can only get 3D/4D if we pay extra and go to a special place....I really want to see him again, even though I do kinda agree with you on the creepy bit, I'm worried ill regret it if I don't. I'm excited!!!!

@jetsa I like Ina May's book. I haven't read all of the birth stories but I think the rest of it was helpful in explaining the various medicines they use to induce labor and the natural techniques that you can use. Also, I like that it gives me some information to use when explaining to the Dr or hospital why I want to be able to move around and that they can monitor me with a doppler rather than being strapped down in bed.

I asked my husband to read the book and I think it was helpful for him to understand that it is really about making sure I am in the right frame of mind going into labor.

@Mrs squirreld: Yep, ours comes free with our prenatal care at 32 weeks.

  10. marionberry

    pomelo / 5041 posts

@jetsa: @mrs squirreld: We paid for a 2d/3d look at 17 weeks at an outside facility so that we could find out the gender early but I haven't talked to DH about whether we'll go back for a 3d. I'd like to but it's kinda spendy so we'll see. I wish we got a late 3d view free in my clinic but I think we just get the 2d/3d ultrasound at 20w. I'm going in for a cervical ultrasound though at 28 weeks since I have a history of LEEP so maybe we'll get lucky and my doctor will turn on the 3d really quick so we can see his face.

I'm at 25 weeks and my belly button is getting noticeably shallow. I'm afraid it is going to pop out That is probably the one pregnancy symptom I was really hoping to avoid. I have belly button issues.

@MrsStormy: So exciting!!! I watch my belly like a hawk...so far today baby has been pretty quiet. I LOVE your painting....you have serious talent!!

@Mrs squirreld: No 3D for us...if you want one you have to pay to go to "UC Baby" (A private clinic mostly for entertainment purposes) and it's like $200. LIke @MrsStormy I find it a little creepy seeing so much detail. I like the cute 2D profile views, lol!

Has anyone been having trouble with exercising?? I hate to even call it exercising, because really they are just walks around the park, lol, but I get major stomach cramps every time. I feel really uncomfortable and can't wait to get back home to the couch.

  14. marionberry

    pomelo / 5041 posts

@Meltini: My belly button is flat with my stomach almost. It'll just be weeks before it's fully popped out. I didn't want it to happen either but oh well.
    @mrsstormy: Isn't it awesome?! I love it!

@Meltini: yep mine too. My hubby keeps joking, 15 days until I can thump it.

@char54: I haven't done anything in months, the pools around here just opened so I'm hoping to get some swim workouts in.

    nectarine / 2522 posts

@MrsStormy: yaaaay! Its so awesome huh!

@Meltini: My belly button is getting seriously shallow and I had one deep belly button... lol it's kinda weird.

@char54: Yeah mine is going to cost $100, I've mixed opinions so I'll check it out and decide for myself... but mainly I just want to see him ... I'm impatient! I try to walk to dog 2kms everyday, but its definately getting harder, as it's so so cold here at the moment ( it was 0 C this morning.. brrrrrrr), I am really struggling with shortness of breath... Plus it always feels like I have a 20kg weight pressing down on my pelvis!!

Had my hospital booking today, which was great for all the classes info and stuff, sooo exciting..... even though we most likely wouldn't be delivering at this hospital as we are moving. ( but we thought we'd book in just in case) The annoying thing is the classes run over when we would most likely move... erggh SO I'm going to ring the new hospital tomorrow and see when those run, and hopefully we won't be too late for those ones! It would be better to do them at the new hospital as a) it won't be a 4 hour return trip every week and b) it would help us meet some new parents in our new town! fingers crossed.

  18. MrsStormy

    clementine / 818 posts

@Meltini: My belly button is getting super shallow as well, and it was deep before. I didn't really want it to pop out originally, but I've pretty much lost hope of that.

@char54: I swear I have no artisitic talent at all, which is why I'm so glad that is turning out! I walked 5.5 miles one day this weekend, and my stomach did that a lot, I had a few moments when I thought I would have to stop, but they were quick and then they stopped. For my normal shorter walks with the dog I haven't had this problem.

So I had a sad realization last night, when I could not get comfortable in bed. I'm already having a hard time getting comfortable at night, but I still have like 15ish weeks left and its only going to get worse that's kind of a hard pill to swallow.

My belly button is getting shallow but not so much that I think it will pop out...maybe it will just get flat? I guess I don't mind either way

Guys. Beb is dancing up a storm in here tonight! It makes me want to meet him sooooo bad! Only 96 dayssssss!

    @Racheld75: Hi and welcome!!

Sorry I've been a little MIA lately! Last week DH caught a stomach bug, a 24hr thing and passed it to me 2 days later. Ugh, I was the sickest I've ever been, couldn't keep fluids down for almost 24hrs and thought it was never going to end

Besides that, we've just been packing up ready for our move. We get the keys to our new place a week Friday when DH and I are renting a van to self-drive most of our stuff down. We're keeping our current place until the 1st July as DH is still working here until the end of the month. Sounds like there are an increasing number of us re-locating before the babies arrive! I hope our moves all go smoothly!

I had my 25wk appt last week. I was worried I was measuring on the small side, but according to my fundal height, there's nothing to worry about. I go to the hospital for my glucose test next week... I think it works slightly differently over here, all I have to do in the first instance is drink a bottle of regular Lucozade an hour before I go in to have my blood taken, then if there's any issues thrown up I'll have to have a 2hr test with the horrible drink!

I need to go back and catch up really, but I hope everyone is doing ok! Now that bug has gone I feel pretty problem free at the moment *touches wood*!

@Racheld75: Hello and welcome! Congratulations to you and your DH! HelloBee has been such a great resource for me (and everyone here!) while on the way to my first LO -- I hope you find it to be the same for you

@Racheld75: Welcome! We're so happy to have you! This group is an amazing resource and a great place to ask questions when you have them.
@illumina: Good luck with your move. Sorry that you were sick! That's horrible.

Does anyone feel stuck? Like I feel like I should be doing more to prepare for baby but until my showers I'm not really sure what I can do. What are all of you doing right now to feel like you're still making progress?

@MrsStormy: your tree looks awesome! I love the heart...

@illumina: I was starting to wonder where you are, sorry you've been sick, but glad you're back! Hope all goes smoothly with moving, remember only to carry the boxes marked "pillows"

    @Racheld75: Welcome!

@marionberry: I know what you mean about feeling kinda 'stuck'... Our nursery is 90% finished, the only 'big' thing left to buy is the carseat (and we were waiting until we picked up our new car - which we got today, before we made the final decision on the infant seat), but I daren't buy any clothes or toys as I have so much of that stuff on my shower gift-list so now it's a waiting game until I finish work, have my shower and see what's left to buy?
I might start on my hospital bag, just because going and buying mesh underwear and maternity pads is something I'd rather do for myself than expect to get at a shower, lol!

I just posted my 27week picture to the 2013 bumps thread, I won't repost here but anyone who wants to see my new hair-do can go and seek it out!

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome!
We have everything set for the nursery just
Waiting for the painter to come and the furniture
To arrive! I finally found a rug for the floor today and
I am so excited I found it for a quarter the price
I had seen it before!! We also finished our registry as well which was a lot harder than I thought it was going to be.

  31. marionberry

    pomelo / 5041 posts

@evenstar982: That's a great idea about the hospital bag. I knew someone who went into labor at 27 weeks so I guess it would be good to get on stuff like that just in case. And shopping for after baby (all those stupid pads and underwear and such) would also be a good idea.

@Racheld75: Welcome!! It's fun to have another Team Greener here! Do you have an inkling if it's a boy or girl? I was thinking boy for the longest time but lately I've been thinking girl.

@marionberry: I totally feel stuck - My shower is the first Saturday in August so I feel like I don't want to buy anything until then but really have nothing else to do! No one here really does registries so I have no idea what people will buy me. Things are so much cheaper in the US and we live close-ish to the border so after my shower I think I will order everything I still want/need off Amazon and do a run across with DH to pick it up.

This is my last week of work! (I'm a teacher). So nuts. It's bizarre knowing I won't be back to work next year... I was really anxious about not working for 14 months since I love love what I do, but now I'm trying to embrace it more and realize it's a nice luxury to enjoy. Once LO is here I'm sure it will be easier.

@evenstar982: @marionberry: Hospital Bag??!! Jeepers! Don't freak me out with that yet.. lol. @evenstar982: by the way your hair looks gorgeous!! I really need to figure out what to do with mine before bub comes.... I used the get highlights and lowlights, but I think with a bub that might be a bit high maintenance... thinking about just going back to natural and finding a good product to deal with my curly hair, so I can do it quick in the morning.
The last of our big stuff is the cot mattress ( picking up this week) and our Snuza moniter (secretly hoping someone will gift), the rest is just little bits and pieces...but I might start a list of PP stuff today as I need to get on that, including nursing bras.... erggh I hate bra shopping.
@Racheld75: How good does it feel to get stuff done though! Can't wait to see your nursery idea!
@char54: Congrats on the last week of work!! yay!!!

Bub was super cute last night/early this morning.. I was asleep with my arm so of draped across my belly and I was so comfortable....but woke to bub kicking directly beneath my arm... hehehe, so I move my arms slightly and he followed it and began kicking there too. I told DH when I got up in the morning and he said bub was probably saying, "get off, your taking up my space!" lol didn't think of it like that...

@marionberry: @Mrs squirreld: I don't *really* want to think about the hospital bag yet, but the insane planner in me can't help it - I started making a list of potential contents several weeks ago (around the time one of the Bee's did a blog post about it).

@Mrs squirreld: thanks for the kind comment about my hair! It was a bit scary to chop it SO short this time; but I wanted a few weeks to see if I feel it'll be low-maintenance enough by September (since its now too short to just throw up in a ponytail or messy bun I'm not sure yet!). Having it short might mean it needs cutting more frequently too, which doesn't strike me as low maintenance (or cost effective!) but we'll see...
Baby does the same to me if I rest my arm across my bump... I'm sure its saying "hey you're squishing me!"

@marionberry: I totally know what you mean about feeling stuck. I do still need to finish a few things in the nursery, but for the most part I'm at a bit of a standstill until the shower. I'm trying to focus my "nesting" on the rest of the house and making sure its in great shape but thats just not as fun!

  36. MamaMagpie

    persimmon / 1436 posts

@evenstar982: that's pretty smart to start a list! I have things pinned on Pinterest and I've "liked" posts on here, but without having started an actual list I'm feeling somewhat overwhelmed. You've inspired me to start one!

@marionberry: I'm with you on feeling stuck, too. Before we decided to move when I'm going to be 33 weeks, I was like "ugh we haven't done much to the room!" and now that we're moving, I feel even more stuck! I know I'd be waiting for my shower anyway, which happens when I'm 31+3, but it's still a but stressful!

  37. marionberry

    pomelo / 5041 posts

Maybe we should all be focusing on relaxation since we're not gonna get much of that once the baby comes? I need to finalize the crib sheets we're gonna get, so that's one thing I can get done before the shower. I know it's all going to fly by so quickly! I have two friends who are 2 months ahead of me in pregnancy and both have just a couple weeks until they're due or less. I can't believe we're gonna get to that point soon! In the beginning the end seemed like forever away.

  38. Joanlindsay

    grape / 98 posts

@marionberry I totally agree. We should be trying to relax when we can. I have a pregnancy hypnosis Album I got from iTunes during my first pregnancy. It was wonderful for relaxing and helping with an occasional nap. It also helped me to relax during labor although I did end up getting an epidural.

  39. evenstar982

    apricot / 284 posts

@marionberry: Agreed! I am lucky in that I am able to 'use up' the rest of my leave for this year (5 whole weeks!) before I begin my maternity leave, so I only have 6 weeks left at work now and then 5 weeks hopefully to 'relax' before baby arrives... I have a massive stack of unread books - I wonder how many I'll actually finish...

Has anyone started birthing classes yet? Or given much thought to pain relief / coping with labour? My birthing classes start in mid-July, and I'm keen to try for a med-free birth (am I mad?) but having read some of the "how much pain and when" threads popping up lately, I'm starting to think I ought to consider exactly HOW I plan to manage this!!

  40. jetsa

    grapefruit / 4663 posts

@evenstar982: We take our birthing/hospital class in August.

I am planning on a natural birth as well so I don't think you are crazy. In Ina May's book she says something along the lines of, Birth is like a marathon, you need cheerleaders, not people telling you how awful it’s going to be. Your body can handle this, but if you go into it thinking its going to be the most awful horrible painful thing you've ever experienced, you are probably going to be right. She also states some studies that essentially show this. So much of birth and really anything hard in life is mental so to go into with the right mentality is the key. All of that to say, I don't have a plan either other than realizing, the pain won't last forever and when its over I will have a new baby so just make it through 1 contraction at a time. That being said my husband and I have a keyword and if I am absolutely done and need pain meds all I have to do is tell him it and he'll get them for me. We have also hired a doula to help us get through it with someone who has been there and I don't intend to go to the hospital until very late in my labor.

I've started a separate board for the September mamas who are going to try natural board so we have a place to discuss, pain techniques, etc or even just encourage each other! http://boards.hellobee.com/topic/natural-birth-discussion
