@Mrs squirreld: Zantac helped me in the first trimester, since then I can monitor the food I eat and be ok normally

  3. Charm54

@Mrs squirreld: I have wicked heartburn! But Zantac has worked wonders. The dr told me I could take 2 a day, but I've found that 1 first thing in the morning does the trick.

@marionberry: I hear you about wanting baby here!! Or at least August...that's when our shower is and we move into our new house. I can't even start the nursery until we move in so I feel like I am just standing still. I keep telling myself that September will be here before I know it!

It is now officially HOT here. I spent the weekend at the beach with DH and I am thinking it's going to be a loooonnngggg summer. I wish I had a pool!

the air conditioning in our house is officially on the fritz.

@mrsmoreau: We have no AC in our house and our bedroom is on the second floor. It sucks. Two fans in our room just aren't enough.
@char54: I'd die if I had to wait until August. I hope it flies by for you!
@mrs squirreld: I've had 2 bad bouts of heartburn. I had never had it prior to being pregnant and I agree, I really really dislike it!

@Joanlindsay: @illumina: @MamaMagpie: @jetsa: @char54: @marionberry: Thanks Ladies... I have had it on and off since the first tri, but the last two nights were soooo bad... to go with my heartburn I had terrible reflux, I thought I was going to choke on my own vomit in my sleep. My throat felt like it was on fire from the acid. I "slept" sitting up in my rocker. Ofcourse there are no chemists etc open here after 5pm so I was helpless. It was the worst I have felt it. Seeing my doctor tomorrow for my checkup so hopefully she has a solution. I pray tonight won't be the same.

@Mrs squirreld: I'm so sorry I found when I have had it really bad I have avoided all fizzy drinks and anything citrus or with a lot of acid in. Oh, and trying to eat small meals.

  8. Mrs squirreld

    nectarine / 2522 posts

@illumina: I hardly eat anything, because it makes me feel sick... but I have had orange juice the last two days.... maybe its that. bummer I already drank some today, but I won't have anymore and see if it helps. Thanks

  9. illumina

    pomelo / 5469 posts

@Mrs squirreld: It might well do. The first time I had acid reflux was after drinking about 4 glasses of orange juice in the space of a few hours. I cut it out and started to get better.

@illumina: Baby craves it, then Baby rejects it... lol. He was acting crazy last night too.. lol I could feel his feet kicking on one side of my belly and his little hands beating me on the other side!

@Mrs squirreld: I'm sorry about the heartburn... I haven't had it bad, but I never had it before pregnancy, I"m waiting for it to get bad I'm guessing it probably is the orange juice, it's very acidic, hopefully today wont be bad though.

@mrsmoreau: @marionberry: Blech, bummer about your AC situations. We are having such strange weather, it would normally be in the 100's right now, but its raining today, I'm just enjoying the break before it gets unbearable.

@char54: You are so patient waiting until August, to move, decorate and have a shower, but what a fun month, it will be a great way to go through the end of your pregnancy!

ETA: Oops forgot to update you guys, did my 3 hour glucose test yesterday, should get the results today or tomorrow. It really sucked, the drink for that was a red drink and it was so so so much worse than the orange one, I was actually gagging, and I couldn't eat for like 15 hours so I was starving (tell me how it is in any way shape or form healthy or good for me and baby to drink like pure sugar on an empty stomach and not eat for 15 hours- seems counter productive). It made the baby move so much it was crazy!

I'm trying to just accept it is what it is and move on, I want to be healthy for myself and for baby, so if I do have GD I would rather catch it and deal with it than just go on in ignorance and not taking the best care of the baby as possible. So with that mindset I'm trying not to stress!

    pomelo / 5469 posts

    @Mrs squirreld: Fingers crossed!!

@MrsStormy: Sorry the test sucks! I hope you get the results really soon.

I had my glucose test yesterday- though compared to what you guys have to go through in the States, mine was a walk in the park. I had to drink half a bottle of regular Lucozade, then rock up at the hospital to have my blood taken an hour later. The worst part was when the nurse taking it went through my vein and out the other side! Now I have 2 bruised arms! Hopefully I'll have the results by my midwife appt on Friday.

In other news- we've booked our newborn photoshoot! I'm super excited! We went for a package, where for £190 you get newborn, 6mth and 12mth photos taken

@MrsStormy: I had my 3 hr test yesterday and I agree that the red drink is so much worse than the orange drink. I gagged too so don't feel bad. I'm not sure when I will get my results. It took a week to hear back about my 1 hr test results so I'm definitely not expecting to hear anything anytime soon. Good luck!!

  15. MrsStormy

    clementine / 818 posts

@Meltini: It took my office almost 2 weeks to get me my results too, but I asked the lab when the office would have it, so I can call if I don't hear anything, I'm not very patient in case you couldn't tell Good luck to you too!

Anyone have sciatic troubles? My right side is a real pain right now. I've been stretching and it feels better but yuck.
Baby is moving a ton. I forgot how crazy it feels. To iChat I could barely focus to make dinner between DD running around and yelling and baby KICKing me in the ribs! So fun.

  17. MamaMagpie

    persimmon / 1436 posts

@Joanlindsay: not quite sciatic trouble, but my hips and low back are really giving me trouble! Started seeing a chiro and so far, so good. Would you ever consider going to one? I've heard really good things about them helping with sciatic pain.

I got my glucose test results back -- I passed! Woohoo!

I started seeing a chiro too and it has helped so much with all of the aches and pains. I highly recommend it!

28 weeks today -- third trimester, baby!!! Woot woot! Holy hell, these next twelve weeks are going to fly by!

  20. illumina

    pomelo / 5469 posts

@MamaMagpie: Yay congrats! and congrats on passing your glucose test too! I remember waiting for the 2nd trimester to arrive and it felt like FOREVER! but then it went by so quickly, I'm sure the 3rd tri is going to go faster!!

  21. MamaMagpie

    persimmon / 1436 posts

@illumina: thank you! I can't believe how close we all are now! And you're so right -- the second tri felt like it took forever to get here and now it feels like just yesterday we were announcing at around 12 weeks. This time is sure to fly by and then we'll have our bubs!

  22. illumina

    pomelo / 5469 posts

@MamaMagpie: I know! What's scary is that judging by the other due date threads, there are always one or two that have their babies a month early! So realistically some of us are going to have mid-August babies! I keep reminding Dh of this whenever he tries to plan things for August!

  23. MamaMagpie

    persimmon / 1436 posts

@illumina: Eeeek! Oh my gosh, that's just so surreal to think about! I hope all of us get to our full 40 weeks, but you're so right! Oh geez, maybe I shouldn't have booked all of our newborn/labor classes for August?!

  24. illumina

    pomelo / 5469 posts

@MamaMagpie: are they at the beginning of August? lol. I'm sure you'll be ok! I said to Dh I want to have all of our gear and the nursery sorted a month before she's due just in case. To be honest, as long as she's healthy I wouldn't mind if she came 2 or 3 weeks early. I gather the final week or two can be pretty uncomfortable.

  25. jetsa

    grapefruit / 4663 posts

@illumina: omg mid-august! that thought hadn't even crossed my mind, although I'm due later in September so babe can stay put until that month!

I went in for my cervical ultrasound today and good news is it looks great. Bad news is my son is breech. I better start googling ways to turn him.

  32. jetsa

    grapefruit / 4663 posts

@marionberry: we still have plenty of time, right? My final ultrasound is still 4 weeks out at 32 weeks

  33. illumina

    pomelo / 5469 posts

@marionberry: there's plenty of time... I don't think most start to finally turn before 30 weeks. I know over here they are not even interested how baby is positioned until 34 weeks or so. Glad everything else looked good though

  34. marionberry

    pomelo / 5041 posts

@jetsa:@illumina: My OB said at this point 30% of babies are breech. I have until 36 weeks for him to turn back around. At that time if he's still breech we have to discuss physically turning him and possibly alternative delivery methods. Idk if my OB typically does an ultrasound before birth (other than the 20 week one) but I think now that we know he's breech I'll likely have another one to check. No wonder the right side of my upper belly has been hurting. That's his stinking head. And now those really strong kicks to my cervix really make sense.

@marionberry: I would love to know which way baby girl is positioned! At my 20wk u/s she was head down, which made sense as the kicks were always up high though off centre to the left and I thought I could feel her head really low on my right side. Since then the kicks are in exactly the same place, though she has rolled back to front a couple of times as for a week or so I felt the kicks on the back, as opposed to my front. Only thing is, I don't think her head's there any more and there's this big firm mass (maybe butt or shoulders) around my belly button area. Maybe I will ask the midwife tomorrow if she can figure it out!

  37. marionberry

    pomelo / 5041 posts

@illumina: Definitely ask your midwife. My OB felt around and originally thought he was in the right position but when we did my ultrasound to check my cervix length his butt was right next to it. So I'm not sure how well they can really tell their position until they get a little bit bigger.

@marionberry: I'm thread stalking (sept 12 mom!)...if it helps at all, my dd was transverse til I think 32 ish weeks and turned head down I can't remember exact week anymore but I was nervous! They didn't check her "final" position til 37 weeks.

  39. MrsStormy

    clementine / 818 posts

@Meltini: @Mrs squirreld: Yay for passing your tests! Still no word on mine and I haven't wanted to bother them by calling, even though I know they should have the results, I will probably call tomorrow.

@marionberry: I was wondering when they should really be head down by.

Forgot to tell you ladies, we had our first childbirth class last night (we are doing them a bit early, because the next round didn't end until the week of our due date which did not appeal to me). It was pretty interesting, honestly I was dreading it, but it was much better than expected! We mostly talked about things to watch for re: preterm labor, and we spent a half hour focusing on relaxation. So we practiced breathing, and knowing where we hold tension and stress, then once we identify that learning to relax it. Birth partners also practiced giving massages by massaging our hands and being in tune to what we seemed to like and relax with. It was a little crazy to realize that we are far enough to be in birth classes though, time is flying!!!!!

    nectarine / 2522 posts

@marionberry: Sounds like your OB had the exact same conversation ours had with us...Bub is breech at the moment here too and although she said he has plenty of time to turn, he is in a slightly harder position to turn from... I'm not too worried yet. I've read alot of babies are still turning back and forth at this point. She did discuss our options with our which would be an ECV and likely an induction at the same time or a scheduled C- section. None of which I want In the meantime I'm just going to relax and worry about it if he's still breach around 34-36 weeks.
@MrsStormy: oooh I can't wait to start our classes... my first one isn't til the 12th of August Relaxing and massages sounds devine!! lol
