I need to catch up, but wanted to know if anyone else is experiencing a lot of pressure in the pelvic area? I'm 31+4 and have been feeling what I'm assuming are just Braxton Hicks for a couple of days now...it's not painful, and I'm sure not anything to be worried about, but they are happening a LOT and its getting annoying and a little worrisome (first time mama nerves). Anyone else?

@MamaMagpie: I noticed it last night and DH said it to me this morning... "it looks like your belly has dropped" and it does.... I was thinking it was waaaay too early for that, but Dr Google tells me it varies and can be normal... I am hoping it means he has turned around... I will soon find out, I have an appt next week. Last one before we drive to our new house. I have had a few nights of crazy cramping... I would be worried, but I can feel him move and its nothing consistant.

@Mrs squirreld: Thank you for the advice! That's actually really helpful! Maybe I'll go next weekend to look for some bras now that I know what to do.

I had my first baby shower today and it was amazing! My family went all our with fancy flower arrangements, custom desserts, and even little bags from etsy as giveaways. They also hired a professional photographer, but here are a few pics of mine from the day just so you can see.

    @marionberry: no worries!
Your shower looks amazing!!!!! It makes me a little sad that I'm not having one, but I'll live through you guys!! Look forward to seeing more pics! I hope you had an amazing time!

@MamaMagpie: and I just took a photo and it doesn't look low at all now! lol.

@Mrs squirreld: I'm sorry you're not having a shower. Is that due to the move? Are people still sending you gifts? I will definitely post some of the professional pics once I get them. Good news is I finally got my crib and changing table at the shower so now I can work on baby marionberry's room!

    nectarine / 2522 posts

@marionberry: yeah it was just too hard with the move and no one really offered, and I couldn't be bothered organising one myself! We are having a going away brunch, but I doubt we will receive any gifts. We have most things now so I'm not really bothered. I did give my mum a copy of the online registry we created if anyone asked. But we have already marked most things as bought anyways
I'm so excited you got your crib and table!! I can't wait to start the nursery for real now! Hopefully our new house has good sized rooms!!

    pomelo / 5041 posts

@Mrs squirreld: That makes me so sad for you. If I lived nearby I'd throw a shower for you! I hope your friends and family do bring you something to that brunch, but at least you've purchased everything you really need almost. Despite our showers I'm sure that we'll end up buying a lot of the big stuff too. No matter what size the baby's room is when you get there though I know you'll make it work!

  9. Mrs squirreld

    nectarine / 2522 posts

@marionberry: naww thanks! I think its because I'm the first to have a baby out of my close friends... they don't really think of these things, but that's ok. My baby is gift enough

@marionberry: Your shower was beautiful. Did people shop off your registry? No one did at any of my showers, this little baby has so many clothes and blankets! Truthfully, I'm so glad they are over, they were super nice but now I can finish everything. Although now I'm freaking out about the nursery not being done. We need to buy furniture still so it'll get there but it kept me up worrying last night.

  11. marionberry

    pomelo / 5041 posts

@jetsa: I made a note on my registries that we had lots of clothes already so if people could opt for items instead that would be great and it seemed to work. We got very few clothing items. I got lots of smaller things I needed like a boppy, thermometer, breast feeding supplies, etc. We still have to order our chair but otherwise we're done with furniture minus organizational stuff I need to get for the closet. I have my other shower in August so we'll see what else we get. Don't worry about the nursery not being done yet! Most everything we have is piled in the room and nothing is put together yet. And as you know so many of our September mamas are moving so their rooms aren't done yet either.

@Joanlindsay: Thank you for the tip! I will be adding the pads to my list.

@Mrs squirreld: Very helpful suggestions for nursing bra shopping. I didn't know where to begin.

@MamaMagpie: Haven't had that yet... but I'm a few weeks behind so I appreciate you mentioning it so I know what to expect.

@marionberry: Your shower looks amazing. Great details!

@jetsa: Like marionberry mentioned, I'm one of those September mamas who moved so my nursery is not complete yet. It's painted and we have one piece of furniture (sort of an armoire) but otherwise there are boxes of nursery items not put away yet or decor not hung on the walls yet. And my mom is getting us the crib and changing table but she and I are still shopping. Don't fret! It'll all come together.

@MamaMagpie I am 30 weeks today and for the last week or so I have been feeling sore in my groin by the end of the day but no braxton hicks like cramping.

We have been trying to finish up the nursery. I bought some prints from http://www.theanimalprintshop.com and framed them in Ikea Ribba frames and they came out awesome. Here they are hanging above the Ikea dresser/changing table.

    @MrsClownfish: your nursery is beautiful!

@marionberry: your shower looks gorgeous!!!! I'm glad it turned out well.
@Mrs squirreld: I'm sorry your not having a shower! Honestly though as fun as they are, I find them to be a bit stressful, so maybe it's a blessing in disguise. We will be celebrating your baby with you, even if we can't throw you a shower
@jetsa: I agree, I had a great time at our shower, but I'm glad it's over!
@MrsClownfish: your nursery looks gorgeous! I can't wait to see it complete!

We had our shower this weekend and we had a great time, I'm a little disappointed we didn't get much in the way of pictures, but when DH puts them on he computer I will post some. We got TONS of stuff, it was really overwhelming actually, but it was a big shower, and our one and only shower. We got a decent blend of things both on and off our registry, but I had very few things I wanted to return, so that was nice. We were actually really surprised, we got almost every big thing we still needed, with the exception of the baby carrier we registered for, and a swing, so we will buy those soon. Anyways the shower made everything feel so much more real, and now I'm stressed about everything left to do/prepare/ think about!

@MrsStormy: I agree! Doesn't it make you feel like wow this baby is around the corner? I'm so glad you got so many of even the bigger items. I'm hoping that after our next shower we'll be able to say that too. And to not want to return much, that's really great!

@MapleMoose: @marionberry: After spending countless hours researching cribs/dressers today, I sent my husband to the Target with instructions to just buy one so that I can sleep tonight, lol He's there now, so yay, we're going to start on the nursery tonight!

@MrsStormy: I'm glad your shower went well.

  19. marionberry

    pomelo / 5041 posts

@jetsa: Wow! You are a very trusting woman. I would never let my husband make those decisions. But anything that lowers your stress level is a great idea.

  20. jetsa

    grapefruit / 4663 posts

@marionberry: haha, well our target has a total of 4 cribs all of which I looked at yesterday and was fine with He wants solid wood so its easier for him to go pick the best quality one.

  21. marionberry

    pomelo / 5041 posts

@jetsa: Smart of you to look at them first so that you knew you'd be happy with whatever he picks out. Which did he choose?

@marionberry: it's an espresso brown summer infant crib. Here's a few pics, the room is a huge mess right now but it'll get there

@marionberry: Yay for your shower! I love all of the photos! I need to see some more of folk's shower pics so I can live vicariously through you as we don't seem to throw baby showers over here in England.

@MrsClownfish: @jetsa: LOVE the nursery progress! You guys are inspiring me to get myself in gear and finish ours. We have most of the furniture now, but no decoration!

AFM, everything is going well. I passed my 2hr glucose test, which was a huge relief... I still have a lot of food aversions so the thought of restricting my diet further was not appealing! I am getting much more exercise the past couple of weeks, so I think that is definitely helping.

We are in the middle of a heatwave (as far as the UK goes!) at the moment for the past 2wks it has been beautiful, hot and sunny and looks set to continue for the rest of the month. Apparently it's our best summer since 2006 so I am not going to complain even though my feet are swelling and I've had to take my rings off already.

  29. marionberry

    pomelo / 5041 posts

@illumina: so happy you passed your test! It's been really warm here too which I would love if our room wasn't the only one with ac. I'm starting to swell as well.

Where is everyone at with weight gain? I keep getting not nice comments from family about being big but last I checked I'm up 21 which is fairly normal and suggested.

Oh forgot to mention my friend who I've been pregnant with this whole time had her baby last night and it has made me so excited that our little one will be here soon!

  31. jetsa

@marionberry: I'm carrying lots of water, yay swelling, but I was up 23 last Monday. My mom made a lovely comment about me being big but I'm measuring right on at my dr appt. I have another appt Friday so we'll see where I'm at then.

@jetsa: I hate my doctor appt scales. They always say I way more than I really do! I have a digital scale down to the tenth at home which I've been using daily to make sure I'm not gaining too much.

  35. MrsClownfish

    cherry / 199 posts

thanks everyone The room won't be done until after the baby is born since we don't know what we are having so accent colors for the curtains and such will have to wait.

@jetsa your room looks so good! I need to figure out how to take a panorama picture like that.

@marionberry I am close to up 20 pounds. But i only gained 1 pound last month and was so excited about it! I am sure I will make up for it at my next appointment

Yeah, I've been getting some annoying comments about my size too. Why do people think it is okay to comment on a woman's body when she is pregnant? You don't do it when a woman isn't pregnant! Ugh. I don't have a problem with getting bigger but I don't need to hear about it everytime I see a certain family member!!

Anyway, at my 29 week appointment I was up 19 lbs which I don't think is too bad. My doctor is happy with my weight gain and I haven't experienced any swelling yet so I think things are going well.

I'm so jealous of everyone's cute nurseries! I am going to use this as motivation to get mine painted so we can start assembling furniture. Only 10 weeks to go, I need to stop procrastinating!!

@jetsa: WOW - your nursery looks gorgeous!!! I love the woodland theme. I am so anxious to get started on ours.

@illumina: Yay for passing your 2 hour test!! That must be a big relief. It's crazy hot here too (rare for Canada!) My DH bought an AC for our bedroom and it has been sweet, sweet relief. I've spent the days mostly at the beach or my friend's pool (she's 9 months pregnant!) because our house is just unbearable.

@marionberry: Your shower looks amazing!!! What talented family and friends you have! Mine is August 3rd - I'll be happy to know exactly what I need after that so I can get all ready for this little baby's arrival.

I've been getting size comments too...people's eyes bulge out when I say I still have 2 months to go. I don't find I look THAT big, but maybe I'm in denial. At my Dr's apt last week I had gained 24 pounds, a bit more than they recommend for that point but my doctor didn't say anything so I'm trying not to worry about it too much.

We were able to get a lot of stuff in the US last weekend - picked up our crib, mattress, a breast pump, bottles, boppy, and some other random accessories. I feel a bit better now!! DH and I each picked out a going home outfit - I picked a girl's and DH picked a boy's. It was so sweet seeing him run all over town looking for the 'perfect' outfit. He finally found one - a blue onesie with bulldogs on it (we have a bulldog who we adore) and he has been showing absolutely everyone who will look at it, lol.

Only 9 weeks to go.... unbelievable!!!!

@jetsa: You nursery looks so great! I love it! Your DH did a great job with the crib, its beautiful

@illumina: Yay for passing your test!

@char54: Glad you got so much stuff! I can't believe how close we are either!

AFM- I have gained about 23lbs as of this morning, but I have been fluctuating for the past 3 weeks or so up and down 3lbs ish and today was the high end of that, so I'm counting it as being normal! Yeah comments about being big are getting real old, I would not consider myself small, but I think I'm pretty average, I have come to the conclusion, people either have no clue what normal is when it comes to pregnancy size, and/ or they don't know what else to say. I'm also getting tired of people acting like we have tons of time left, like oh still 2 months, lots of time, um I'm not sure what world you live in but 2 months is not that much time!
