@MamaMagpie: for some reason I'm less freaked out by this then I am about breastfeeding. Depression runs in my family though so I should probably give it more thought.

Ahh I'm so behind! I'm going to try and reply to everyone just without actually replying since I"m so many pages behind!
I am totally leaking extra lately, and its disgusting, I never know if it's sweat, pee or what, then I wonder with all this leakage will I even know if my water breaks/ leaks!? I haven't had much in the way of braxton hicks (at least that I can tell). I also get the weird soreness around my belly button. the baby seriously likes to hang out right there and kick right there and it is not so comfortable.
AFM: It has been so hot here, so I'm trying to not complain and just deal, hopefully this major heat wave passes and we get to some more normal (still hot, but not absurd) temps. We are leaving for a vacation with my family this Friday and I can not wait. We are going up to a mountain/ lake area so it should be cooler and beautiful. 5 days of relaxing, woohoo!
I have noticed the past week or two that the heat is really draining me, it makes me so tired to be out and about in it, anyone else having this problem? Oh and do you guys having going home outfits picked out, or have you thought about them for the baby? This is hard to think about for team green, and I haven't decided if it is worth the effort of looking for something "special".

@mrsmoreau: Ohh crazy about your mucus plug! I'm excited for the first babies from the group to start coming, but I hope everyone's babes cook a little longer so they are totally ready!
@MamaMagpie: Your shower was gorgeous! I'm sure you had an amazing time! Also I am totally terrified of PPD, and really always have been, I'm not sure why, since I don't normally suffer from depression, but for whatever reason I want to be mentally prepared for it. I have told DH things to watch for and such just in case.
@jetsa: I am so sorry about your car! That is very scary, I'm glad your okay and you handled it well. Do you think your car will be totaled?
apricot / 495 posts
DH and I had a talk over the weekend about PPD and how it is really going to be up to him to watch for signs because I probably won't see it in myself. I'm hoping I won't end up with it. I know I will probably be an emotional mess after baby boy gets here but I hope it won't be anything too serious.
grapefruit / 4663 posts
@MrsStormy: no, I don't think theres anyway it is totaled so its just a matter of waiting for them to fix it. For a going home outfit, I want a white gown and white hat. I don't know why but to me that seems perfect and then after baby outgrows it, it can be a keepsake. Like this: http://thumbs4.ebaystatic.com/d/l225/pict/221090545223_3.jpg

@mrsstormy For our first team green baby I bought a sweet little hat/shirt/pants/jacket combo that was duckling themed. I saved it and we will use it for all of our babies coming home outfit.
From my experience before its so overwhelming/exhausting and weirdly anticlimactic taking them home I wouldn't spend to to much. We were mostly just shocked that they were letting us leave with this baby and no supervision!?!

@Joanlindsay: That made me LOL because that's exactly how I feel. You mean I am taking this little life home with me and you aren't going to be there to show me what to do?! Eek!
grapefruit / 4663 posts
@Joanlindsay: @MapleMoose: hahaha. I've been semi-shocked by some of the things that have come out of my husband's mouth lately but he's an only child and only had 2 younger cousins both of which were born before he was 12. I'd say it'll be a shock for him, and I know he'll be very hands on so I'm sure we'll have some hilarious situations. For example: (1) As I'm holding our friends baby, "whats that stuff by the side of her mouth?" (It was spit-up, he still swears if it hadn't been chunky he would have known what it was) (2) Last night as I'm folding baby laundry, "why do we have all these plain white onesies" because babies need 1 more layer of clothing than we do, (I'm hoping he was kidding here) "well that's the diaper, right?"
grape / 98 posts
My husband was like that too. We actually took a post natal care class - I thought it was totally going to be lame but, husband revealed he had only held a baby twice and never changed a diaper! It was good of him and helped him be way more confidant.

I'm such a dork but, watching Kate pass their new little one to William totally makes me a little misty. Can't wait to hold our new one soon.
grapefruit / 4663 posts
@Joanlindsay: ok good, that makes me feel better. I guess he'll learn. Kate and William are so sweet.

@mamamagpie: With the PPD post yesterday I also talked to DH about looking at me for warning signs after I have the baby. He says I'm too happy of a person to get that but I know it doesn't work that way and so does he. I told him I'll be a mess from not sleeping but if I start getting really bad to let me know.
@jetsa: Our childbirth class nurse told us to call our doctor after any car accident, even if you weren't injured just to see if they want to check on things. Did you do that? I really like the idea of a white going home outfit. I think I'd be worried about spit up ruining it before we got home though.
@mrsstormy: I had bought one outfit for going home but now I'm not 100% if I'll use it. One thing I did notice from my friend who just had her baby is that the kept her swaddled in the blanket with only a diaper on for the majority of the time in the hospital (granted it is summer) so we may not need to pack much other than that for time spent in the hospital.
grapefruit / 4663 posts
@marionberry: yes, I did. They weren't concerned bc the airbags didn't go off and I felt fine.
persimmon / 1436 posts
@MrsStormy: thank you, I felt very loved I don't suffer from depression either, but it's just kind of scary to wonder if anyone actually enjoys the newborn stage while they're in it (as opposed to once they're through it and looking back).
I've talked to DH about it, too, and he knows what to watch for, but I just hope it doesn't happen! Like @marionberry, we've kept it light but have made sure to know the signs.
@jetsa: were you in an accident?! How did I miss that?! Omg, I am so glad you're ok!!!
grapefruit / 4663 posts
@MamaMagpie: yea I hit a deer yesterday AM. I felt/feel fine but my SUV is in the shop =\
persimmon / 1436 posts
@jetsa: oh nooooo! That must've been so scary, and also sad! Ugh and now to deal with your vehicle being in the shop Well, at least you and beb are ok!!!
pomelo / 5469 posts
@mrsmoreau: omg! scary stuff! Have you had any further symptoms since that things might be moving along?
@jetsa: so sorry to hear about the accident. I hope you're not too shaken up and that your car is fixed quickly!
@MamaMagpie: love the shower photos!!
Has anyone else been finding it difficult to take deep enough breaths recently? The last week or two I feel like she must be starting to crowd my lungs, as when I'm sitting or lying down often the weight of her on them will make me feel like I'm not getting enough air!
grapefruit / 4663 posts
@illumina: thanks! I feel that way when breathing. I have to sit up straight, slouching isn't allowed
apricot / 251 posts
@illumina: everything is completely normal actually - no more symptoms. TMI - i think the plug may be coming out bit by bit - i have read of that happening, and the other day there was not much, and it was completely clear (no bloody show)
so it seems i may be in for a few weeks of yuckiness. what else is new?
persimmon / 1436 posts
@illumina: thank you, it was fun! And yes to the shortness of breath ugh I had a brief period of time a few years ago where (although I didn't know it at the time) I was having small anxiety "attacks" and couldn't get a full breath and this reminds me of it...no bueno. But it's all worth it in the end, right?!
apricot / 251 posts
@MamaMagpie: it is worth it in the end - otherwise no one would do it more than once haha!!!

Anyones little one had hiccups lately? Mine is head down and hiccups are so funny because they feel so low!
@evenstar982: I think this little one has decided to start testing the 'exits' as well, which should make for an interest 58 days or so.

I'm such a slacker when it comes to HB!
On July 3rd my BP ended up being 150/100 (on a hot day, on the 3rd reading after making me stressed out...of course it was high), so they sent me to the hospital for monitoring. They started me on BP meds to help my BP. I had to go back on the 5th for a follow up & U/S. Everything was fine, baby was measuring in the 67th %ile. I've had to go to the dr every week for an NST, and doing monthly U/S until they deliver, which will be closer to 39 weeks (or earlier if something starts to happen with my BP or I get preeclampsia) since there's a hypertension issue.
It's been a pain in the butt, but nice being able to listen to baby everyweek, and will get to see baby again on Monday!

@jetsa: Baby gets hiccups a few times a day. She wriggles around and they feel so strong. I feel bad!
@pmerr: Yikes! At least it's under control now and you & baby are doing well.
clementine / 818 posts
@pmerr: Thats stressful, I'm sorry!
@illumina: I feel like this sometimes, its mostly in certain positions I am sitting or laying in.
Last night I had weird dreams all night long about labor, so that was weird, but in my dreams baby was a boy (I've only had to dreams about baby and in both he has been a boy) maybe its a sign....
grapefruit / 4663 posts
@MrsStormy: i had a dream last week that my husband texted me that he was with baby and baby was a boy, no idea how that would happen but interesting
persimmon / 1436 posts
@pmerr: what a hassle, but at least you and LO are absolutely safe!
@mrsmoreau: I am getting so freaking excited to meet this little guy! Definitely worth the discomfort
@jetsa: I still haven't felt any hiccups! I think it may be because I have an anterior placenta?
@MrsStormy: @jetsa: that would be crazy if you both do end up having boys!
apricot / 251 posts
@MamaMagpie: i have an anterior placenta as well and i have felt some hiccups - but don't fret, DS didn't ever have hiccups in-utero (although he gets them quite often now - and it is a billion times cuter when they are 2 years old haha) i think an anterior placenta prevents you from feeling kicks/hiccups as early as others do, but that's about it... i dunno!
clementine / 818 posts
@jetsa: Hahaha, pregnancy dreams are the weirdest, but we may have boys in our future
@MamaMagpie: I have felt the hiccups a few times, but they aren't very long lasting and they aren't very strong, so my experience is different than most, and not even close to as exciting as other movement.

We have arrived!! Our furniture arrives on Monday!! Hurray for the 1800km road trip being over!!!
apricot / 284 posts
@Mrs squirreld: hurrah! Hope the furniture arrives soon and let the "nesting" begin!
persimmon / 1436 posts
@mrsmoreau: @MrsStormy: haha as long as
I'm not missing out on much and beb is ok!
@Mrs squirreld: hooray! And holy cow, that looks like paradise! Have so much fun nesting
pomelo / 5041 posts
@mrs. squirreld: I am so jealous! I want a view like that! Can't wait for you to get settled so we can see the amazingly creative things you'll be doing with your nursery, I just know it.
Speaking of nurseries, I worked on mine a bunch today but am really hesitant to post any pictures until it's all done or at least almost there. I can't wait to share it with you guys though. I am going to start packing my hospital bag tonight (though I'm still missing a few items). Seems crazy that we should already, but the more I hear about these 35 week deliveries from our August moms, the more I feel like I need to get my act in order. Hope everyone is having a great weekend!
cantaloupe / 6885 posts
@Mrs squirreld: WOW! What a beautiful view!! You get to live in paradise, lucky you !!
@marionberry: I can't wait to see your nursery!! I have almost everything bought - just need to move Into our house now so I can set it up. 3 weeks to go...I can't wait. Once we are all settled I think I will really be able to nest and get ready for baby.
My shower is next weekend and I don't know why but I am so nervous! I hate being the center of attention...thankfully I know all of the guests really well so hopefully I am able to relax and enjoy it.
My stretch marks are out in full force this week. I've noticed what used to be a few lines way down low have now slowly crept up and multiplied. I still can't see them unless I'm looking in a mirror so I'm really hoping I can keep them at bay but its not looking good with 8 weeks still left to go !!

Hi ladies,
Question for you; our cot mattress came with its own (breatheable) removeable protective top layer (and I got a spare too) so do I still need to buy a (waterproof) mattress protector as well do you think?
What about the bassinet mattress, should I be putting a protective layer on that under the sheets?
So many little details left to think about! X
pomelo / 5041 posts
@char54: I hope you really enjoy the shower. If you think of it as your baby is the center of attention maybe you'll feel more comfortable? I can't wait for you to get settled. I'd be dying to start on my nursery if I were you and I'm sure you are.
@evenstar982: do you know if that top removable layer is waterproof? If so you may be able to skip additional waterproof covers. I would definitely get waterproof pads for your bassinet mattress though. We're getting some for our pack n play which we'll be using as a bassinet.

Omg you guys....one of my friends who was in my prenatal courses with us (she was 2 1/2 weeks ahead of me, early September) just had her baby this morning!! The baby was 5 weeks early and is fine, but it really made me open my eyes to how these babies are coming SOON!! DH is totally freaked out, lol.
