@pancakes: Maybe I'm thinking pelvic rest. I think depending on the severity of the SCH, they will tell you to take it easy (i.e. no BD-ing!) Hopefully its not a big deal.

Crap I keep forgetting to update myself on the list.
My dd is changed to 9.7 (they said my O date was one day earlier than I thought?!) and my next appt is 1.27

@Mrs. Jump Rope: really? They changed u for a day? They didn't change mine for 3 days.

So, has anyone else started calling LO some sort of name? I like to have a name for them early on, though I think most people just sort of wind up calling them something rather than specifically picking like I do. We're going with Spooky for this one, because s/he was conceived on Friday the 13th.
Also, since I'm guessing none of us are showing yet, anyone up for posting our first, sort of "before," belly pics, so we have something to compare to later? Though, having suggested it, we have no good mirrors for doing it myself, so I'd have to wait till DH comes home so he could take a picture for me.
blogger / coconut / 8306 posts
@tequiero21: yeah. I calculated my O date incorrectly & at my last appt the tech said I'm due 9.7
nectarine / 2932 posts
@Torchwood: I'll be 6 weeks on Thursday and I plan on taking my first week picture then! We aren't calling it anything yet, just the baby. I'm sure the further we get along it'll change though!
I'm not sure if I had my first round of MS this morning or not. My dog was really sick yesterday at the emergency vet (something was wrong with her kidneys) and I have been making myself sick over it. She was very close to not making it and if you know me at all you know that I am OBSESSED with my dog. She's everything to us. I just got the news that her levels are going down and that she'll be fine even though we don't know what caused it. We are so relieved!
So I don't know if the feelings I had this morning were MS or just me working myself up. Probably a little of both? I never felt like I was going to throw up, but I felt very shaky and a little woozy. I had to keep sitting down while I was getting ready for work. Almost like the feeling you get when you haven't eaten in a longgggggg time. I felt better once I had some saltines though!
cantaloupe / 6131 posts
@littlebit: The dizzy and shaky thing happens to me too! It sucks. I pretty much always have a Gatorade or juice with me when I start to feel that way - I think for me its blood sugar. I drink SO much water lately that I'm paranoid I'm flushing out all my electrolytes (which actually happened to me before in the hospital and I was SUPER sick as a result).
Speaking of Gatorade, its seriously saving my life. I chug a small lemon-lime one almost every day and it helps my MS symptoms sooo much. Carbs, cheese, Gatorade, and burgers are basically my life right now.

@Torchwood: I took a picture last week at 4 weeks as a 'before' photo, but I'm going to wait to share it until our news is a little more public. My belly is not nearly as flat as I wanted it to be before conceiving, but oh well. Now I don't have to worry about it!

@LatteLove: I think not having to suck in my tummy anymore is one of my favorite things about being pregnant! I'm trying to stick it out like I can force a bump to show!

@tequier021 Thank you! Another Jersey Girl!
Yes, my RE was my saving grace! I had my first appointment with mine a week after my gynecologist told me there was a good chance I had no eggs left and would probably never have biological children! She was pretty wrong, obviously! My RE said, "Leave the baby making up to us, and the baby care taking up to them!"

@georgiegirl83: congrats again! I'm so thankful we live in a time with modern technology.
@Torchwood: love that theme!
Used to call them my poppy seeds or sesame seeds cuz that was their size when I was first pregnant. Now, I just call this one baby. I'll try to post a belly pic soon, but it definitely started w a belly and I blame my kids lol. Never fully went down. My hubby thinks something was something. Can't remember the medical terms. In essence, something was ruptured or something that I can probably fix when I'm done having kids.

Is it bad to say that I almost wish for ms? I have been SO hungry I have been eating all the time (and probably more junk than I care to admit). I did so well with weight gain during my first pregnancy and I'm afraid it's not going to be so good this time.
cantaloupe / 6131 posts
@torchwood: Super cute!
Well y'all today I busted the hair-tie through button loop trick. To be fair these were skinnies that I can still (barely) button into, but its painful when sitting down. Worked great.
Been having some pretty intense heartburn, which blows. Perhaps its my poor dietary choices. Yesterday DH had to go get me McDonald's TWICE (once for nuggets, a second time for a single cheeseburger). I'm going to birth a little Hamburglar baby.
Trying to make a bunch of food ahead tonight. DH has his endoscopy tomorrow (fingers crossed we can find out what's wrong with him) and work is a zoo so I gotta make sure there's enough food in the house for him in case I have to work late this week. We have a pot of chicken and rice soup going and some meatloaf and sweet potatoes baking in the oven. I'll nuke some frozen veggies to go with the meatloaf and that should be enough for a few days. Have no idea if I'll feel like eating this stuff or not (cravings have been finicky), but at least I'll be less likely to go out if there's a ton of food in the house.
At first we called the baby "kid" or "eggie." I think with our prior losses, those terms sounded less personal, which is a sad thing to say, but we did it somewhat unconsciously. In the last week or so since my MS has picked up, we've been referring to the "baby" or whatever fruit the websites say the baby should be measuring at. I think DH referred to him or her as the "lima bean" last night.

@Gingerbebe Hah! I just had to unbutton my jeans sitting here...time to throw away that last giant bag of Halloween candy I think. Reese's and Heath bars are not (really) my friend.

My symptoms are all over the place and it's making me crazy. I take progestetone supplements and they make me spot. It's so unsettling, even though there has been a determined cause. I'm also making myself crazy by comparing this pregnancy to Chloe's, where I was consistently sick for 16 weeks. I have good days and bad days this time around, but I'm no where near as symptom-full as I was with her!
I thought pregnancy was supposed to be easier the second time around!

@Pancakes: I'm hoping mine kicks in soon, too. I was SO sick with LO, and while not fun, it was reassuring. I've started feeling a bit of nausea but no full on sickness yet. Also, my first appt isn't until the 12th, so I want some symptoms before then!
ETA: I do have some symptoms... Mainly craving salty carbs and horrible gas. Seriously glad LO is the only one I'm around during the day. You can only blame that on others so many times before the gig is up.

welcome @georgiegirl83!!
I've been doing a better job of managing the MS this week. My office makes me feel terrible, as well as looking at a computer. It has been making me feel motion sick. I might try the sea bands if I can muster the energy to stop at CVS on my way home... so tired lately.
@gingerbebe I hope your husband's test goes well today!! thinking of you both.

Well. I had yet another visit today. Baby is doing well, heart rate of 120. Measuring 5w6d
Turns out spotting (which has turned into light bleeding) is caused by some implantation blood vessel damage, and isn't hurting baby at all.
Cyst is going down in size and I can finally sit upright again :D.
Next ultrasound is on 29 Januray. My due date has been changed (again) back to September 24!
nectarine / 2932 posts
@farawayviolet: all wonderful news! I'm also 5w6d today but due Sept. 18th...wondering if my babe has a heartbeat already?!
blogger / coconut / 8306 posts
@Littlebit: I didn't think the HB developed until week 6?! I had an ultrasound at 6w1d and we could only see a gestational sac & yolk sac. I checked my u/a from Chloe to compare. I was 5w6d wih my first u/a with her, and the same two things were visible.
I didn't see/gear a HB with her until 8 weeks. I go at 8w1d for my viability scan.
wonderful clementine / 24134 posts
@farawayviolet: Congrats on a good appointment. Glad the cyst is going down!
@Mrs. Jump Rope: @Littlebit: I went in for my first appointment at 5w1d and was measuring closer to 5w6d and was able to see/hear the heartbeat.
blogger / coconut / 8306 posts
@T.H.O.U.: that's awesome! So does everything just grow at an individual rate? I was 6w1d with my scan and definitely no heartbeat!
wonderful clementine / 24134 posts
@Mrs. Jump Rope: I don't know. I think its a pretty standard rate but I wonder if its not due to the difference in technology of the machines.
I totally was not expecting it and then all of a sudden she said, see that flicker there, thats a heartbeat! And then she turned on the sound.
wonderful clementine / 24134 posts
@Mrs. Jump Rope: http://americanpregnancy.org/pregnancycomplications/earlyfetaldevelopment.htm
Week 6 – Gestational Age (Fetal age 4 weeks)
5 ½ to 6 ½ weeks is usually a very good time to detect either a fetal pole or even a fetal heart beat by vaginal ultrasound. The fetal pole is the first visible sign of a developing embryo. This pole structure actually has some curve to it with the embryo’s head at one end and what looks like a tail at the other end. The fetal pole now allows for crown to rump measurements (CRL) to be taken, so that pregnancy dating can be a bit more accurate. The fetal pole may be seen at a crown-rump length (CRL) of 2-4mm, and the heartbeat may be seen as a regular flutter when the CRL has reached 5mm.
blogger / coconut / 8306 posts
@T.H.O.U.: I just saw that! I didn't have a fetal pole with either pregnancy at 6w!
wonderful clementine / 24134 posts
@Mrs. Jump Rope: I've always read that fetal growth in the first tri is pretty standard (which is why they can do dating scans) so I wonder if it was there just not detected.
blogger / coconut / 8306 posts
@T.H.O.U.: that's a possibility. It was at my REs office so I assume they'd have great machines, but I wouldn't know one if I saw it!
apricot / 441 posts
@gingerbebe: how did your husband's test go? I also got heartburn (for the first time ever) a couple nights ago! Yuck.
cantaloupe / 6131 posts
Hi everyone! DH's endoscopy went great. The doctor said there was absolutely nothing wrong - no bleeding, no ulcers, nothing funny looking. Everything was clean. He suspects that the pain DH has had is related to the fact that he has acid reflux and has been on Prilosec too long. He was relying on the meds instead of making lifestyle changes and it caught up with him. SO DH has to stay on his super bland diet of 5 small meals a day, no acid/spices/dairy/caffeine/booze/soda/fried food, lose weight (because he carries all his weight in his stomach, which is pushing up is stomach acid) and wean off the Prilosec. He has to go on a therapeutic grade probiotic and heal his gut over time and hopefully things will go back to normal. WHEW!
I am beat - I had to take half a day off to take DH to the hospital and drive him home. I'm back at work and there is SO MUCH STUFF TO DO but the let down after my anxiety over DH has wore me out.
MS has been manageable the last 2 days, but its been replaced with lots of stomach and gas issues. Nipples are looking Jurassic Park right now and heartburn has been up in my grill the last day or two. I've also noticed that I've been sorta hitting a wall at 830pm. If I stay up longer, I start to get a really bad headache and feel nauseated. And if I'm still up at 11pm, I get hungry again! So I think tonight I'm going to try going to bed extra early and see if that helps.
I went to Target to get DH a bunch of stuff and picked up a ton of crackers, ginger green tea, frozen bean and rice burritos for work, and B6/Unisom in case MS gets wicked again. I don't know what's worse - feeling sleepy or nauseated! I guess I'll have to pick one if it gets bad enough.
Hi to all the new folks! So glad the board is picking up steam!

@Torchwood: The one coworker I told about my miscarriage provided the nickname for me. She was telling me about a student who was throwing up in her class and I told her she had to stop because my stomach was so queasy. Another coworker joined the conversation so she covered for me by saying I had a "bug". So now when we talk about the baby at work
@farawayviolet: Yay for a good ultrasound. I'm glad the cyst is getting smaller. That's a great heartbeat for that early.
@gingerbebe: I'm glad your husband is ok. Try and relax. Don't forget to take care of yourself.
I've had a few snow days at home. Thanks goodness. I've been battling a cold since Saturday and it went from my nose down to my chest. I've had a cough for 3 days and it really doesn't seem to be getting better so I'm thinking of calling my doctor tomorrow because I'm worried its bronchitis. I hope everyone is well.

So glad to hear about everyone's good appointments!
Mine was today and it was pretty worthless. It was delayed because of the weather and the office was just completely unorganized/unprepared. There were four of us completing a mandatory "orientation" and the nurse could not keep track of which of us had had our vitals taken. I ended up being there for about 2.5 hours just to have my vitals taken and to get some info about some programs available to military families. I did get to speak to a provider about my SCH and she basically told me that it doesn't matter what I do or don't do, physical activity-wise. She said that ultimately nothing I do will affect the outcome; I'll either miscarry or I won't. Then she said, BUT it wouldn't hurt for me to take it easy until my next appointment; that way if something happens I won't blame myself. :Sigh: Soooo reassuring.
So I go back Feb. 14 for a "real" visit where they'll do a physical exam...and then hopefully DH will feel comfortable enough with how things are progressing that I can switch to a different practice!
Also, I have some gift cards from Christmas and I want to get a few maternity items because I know I'll need them much sooner than last time...but I'm afraid if I buy them now I'll be jinxing myself! Anyone else feel that way?
