@psw27: nope, wouldn't risk it!
I've been fairly symptom free for the last few days and today MS has decided to kick my ass.

@Mrs. Jump Rope: Girl, I feel you. I'm feeling awful. I just ordered some unisom/b6 I'm hoping that helps! Are you taking anything? Or doing anything special to curb it?
pomelo / 5220 posts
Thanks @tequiero21 and @mrs. jump rope I kind of begged off the party tonight anyway. I told my friend I've been fighting a cold all week... I feel bad but it is easier than getting norovirus!!
I just got sea bands this morning before work cause I was feeling awful -- maybe its a placebo affect but I feel better today than I have felt in weeks!! Maybe try that @littlebit and @mrs. jump rope!

@Littlebit: it's been so off and on that I was starting to get worried & didn't need something to help. I want to wait & see how long this lasts... I used b-natal pops with Chloe and it helped a lot so I'll probably try those again. I'm sorry you're feeling sick, too!
Ps: my mom made a stuffed chicken & broccoli caseros last night for dinner then sent us home for leftovers bc they're out of town this weekend. Chloe asked me to heat it up for lunch and the smell of chicken made me puke. So, boo!

Ugh MS. Last night I went too long without eating (I had a huge late lunch) and while DH was out tracking me down mapo tofu (I NEEDED IT), I was loudly heaving and gagging over the toilet. I didn't actually puke because I didn't have anything in my stomach but it was gross. My voice is still hoarse this morning because of it. I didn't take the Unisom/B6 last night so I'm feeling a bit more alert/awake today ( was SO TIRED yesterday), but I also feel a little less nauseous. DH got me an emergency McMuffin this morning again (which I literally WOLF down in the car on the way to work to beat the crazy nausea I get first thing in the morning) so I feel pretty good right now. However, I'm a little TOO sad about the fact that I forgot to bring my lunch (the leftover mapo tofu from last night). There isn't anyplace that makes it around my office so I'm like "le sigh." DH thinks I'm going to have to tell my Bible Study group tonight that I'm KUed because he thinks I'm going to start hurling during our study tonight. I wanted to wait until our US on Monday, but we'll see how sick I feel tonight!

@gingerbebe: I had to tell my Bible Study early because of MS. All of a sudden I just never attended because I was "sick" and they couldn't figure out why I had such a bad cold in September :). So, I fessed up.

Oh my gosh, my mom just sent me this thing where she wrote her birth story from my sister (30 years ago!)...it's hilarious! She also has things that were happening at 6 weeks, 2 months, etc. One of the things at 6 weeks said ‘She goes to sleep a lot faster if placed on her stomach.’ - 6 WEEKS! I cracked up. I don't know how so many of us survived back then!

@weagle: When we were pregnant the first time I missed Bible Study two weeks in a row because I was miscarrying and couldn't deal and one of the women looked right at my husband and asked if I was pregnant. She just KNEW. He had to fess up that time and we told our Bible Study the second time right away (ended up miscarrying that one too). Everyone knows about our infertility struggle so they will be thrilled for us but this time we just felt okay keeping it a secret for a while because, well, we just feel good about this one! We'll see how I feel tonight!

@Littlebit: Not going to lie, LO started tummy sleeping at 10 weeks. Looking back, we should have started earlier. All of her naps were in the same room as us anyway.
coconut / 8498 posts
@gingerbebe: We didn't tell before our miscarriage, and it made things awkward when I went back. DH told the leader while I was in the hospital, but she didn't know if she should tell, so she didn't. I though she had, so I was talking about it and it made people feel terrible that they didn't know. I just ended up having full-on MS before I could decide whether or not I was going to tell early with LO.

@Mrs. Confetti: My first is 2.5 - about 31 months. He's a super snuggly clinger so it will be interesting how he does along the way and when #2 arrives. Luckily, he's a lightweight and very gentle so I'm hoping all will be fine.

Sorry to hear about all of you with m/s! I haven't felt queasy at all, just totally uninterested in eating. This is not normal for me!
Today my stomach was growling so I started eating lunch at 11:45am (about an hour early for me) and I got 5 bites in to my leftover Chipotle and then was just done. Couldn't force another bite (but I wasn't full).
The only thing that sounds good is jelly toast but of course I'm at work and can't get that. (And we have company coming for dinner...so I have to make a real dinner, not jelly toast)

My husband came home with emitrol & ginger ale, and it helped take the edge off. I feel like I have a hangover though & am counting down the minutes until bedtime -- we are off to a late start tonight.. I'm ready to sleep!

So I've got a sinus infection. Hopefully the antibiotics will help me feel human again. I'm so tired of feeling crappy.

@LatteLove: I have also been deling with no appetite, rather than morning sickness. Nothing sounds good. Almost ever. Just forcing stuff don, mostly. (unless it is a cupcake - that is always welcome).
@Littlebit: Tummy sleeping is magic. I know they say back is best, but my LO also started tummy sleeping early - once he could get there himself around 11 weeks and was immediately a MUCH better sleeper.

If anyone is or has taken zofran, how long were you sick for before getting a script? I'm on Day 3 of terrible MS and emitrol is only taking the edge off (and is kind of expensive for how much I've been using)..
Should I ask for a script on Monday at my appt? I'll be released to my OB then, too, so there'd be a 4-week gap between appointments..

@Mrs. Jump Rope: I gave in after about 3 days of being nonfunctional. Seriously, not worth it to be so darn sick when there is a good remedy out there. I say go for it!
nectarine / 2180 posts
@Mrs. Jump Rope I'd say you can ask for the script and then hold off on taking it if you want, but better to have it and not use it than to wish you had it and don't!

Omg ya'll, they accepted our offer! We're buying a house! We won't still be living in my mom's basement when the baby comes!

@Torchwood: Congrats! How exciting!
Sorry to all the mamas with Morning sickness. It sucks! I'm sure I'm a couple weeks behind if history repeats itself.
Currently have the most painful heartburn of my life. If I didn't know to expect it with progesterone and pregnancy, I'd think I was having a heart attack right now. It's really intense and hard to breathe. Tums please work!

@Mrs. Jump Rope: I threw up through 16 weeks before getting Zofran and I regret it so much. Unisom/B6 and sea bands only took the edge off. If you need it, take it.
pomegranate / 3895 posts
@Mrs. Jump Rope: popping in to say that I was on day 7 of being sick (throwing up about 20 times a day) when I finally called my doctor. I completely regret waiting that long as I ended up at risk for dehydration and caused myself misery for no reason. I'm 11 weeks and I've tried to ween myself off Zofran and immediately go back to my old getting sick stuff if I don't take it. Zofran is considered safe for your baby and I think the potential damage of dehydration or not getting proper nutrition is much greater. Unfortunately Zofran doesn't take away the nausea for me, it just keeps me from throwing up and makes me able to function.
One interesting fact - my insurance only covered 10 out of every 30 days for pills. I didn't find this out until I was desperate for a refill... my doctor had to write a letter requesting an exception. I wish I had started the request process before I was out of pills.
blogger / coconut / 8306 posts
@BakerBee: I'm sorry you went through that! It sounds miserable.
Here's the thing: I'm not throwing up! I've got all day nausea that just wipes me out. I'm drinking lots of ginger ale which helps, but water makes me sick to the stomach -- and I drink a LOT of water.
I'll ask tomorrow if zofran is recommended. I've never taken it before.

Ugh, threw up big time for the first time this pregnancy. Do u think ginger ale really helps? Unless it's included in natural favors, don't see any ginger in the ingredients.
pomelo / 5220 posts
Congrats @torchwood!
Freezing cold ginger ale helps me @tequiero21 - but I'm having a hard time with water so I'm just trying to hydrate with anything I can...soda is not usually part of my diet! I feel so unhealthy but anything to feel semi-alive. Smart water (w/ electrolytes) helped a ton today! It has magnesium, was wondering if that's why it helped so much since some people swear by magnesium.
honeydew / 7968 posts
@psw27: hmmm I did read something recently about how a woman beat ms because of her increase intake if magnesium. I think I want to try it!

Did everyone have a good weekend? I finally hit 7w yesterday...this first trimester is just crawling along sloowwwwly. LO had a play date at my good friend's house, and it was great to get out of the house for a few hours. PLUS: Downton and Sherlock!
LO is back in school today after missing all of last week (boo snow!) and the sun is out today and it's actually like 40 degrees instead of 25 degrees, so it seems like an auspicious start to this week!

had a decent weekend @pancakes. Was super tired on Saturday and felt pretty lousy yesterday. Today is probably the best I've felt in week!
Its a balmy 40 here today (at least for right now, the polar vortex is coming back tonight). I walked to work with no gloves!
I usually eat lunch with my co-workers at 1 (we are a really small office) but lately, their lunches are really grossing me out. I can beg off once or twice to go run an errands/get fresh air, but I am almost tempted to tell them just so I can be like "here's why I don't want to eat lunch with you anymore..."

Ugh. Super sick and busy, but stopping in to say hi for a sec. My weekend was...not that great.
1. Had to work all day Saturday. I left after 7 hours because I was like loudly gagging in the parking lot.
2. Yesterday I was laid up feeling awful with chills and when I woke up from a nap realized I had a slight fever and a headache. Turns out the baby I held on Friday night at Bible Study had a cold and not, as I was told, just dealing with his regular upper respiratory congestion and asthma. The kid coughed directly into my mouth twice! Ugh.
3. Been constipated for 2 days and have really bad heartburn this morning. Talk about uncomfortable.
BUT in better news, today is our first US at the RE! Fingers crossed that everything is okay and baby looks good. There's plenty of work to get me through the day but I know I'm going to be counting the minutes!
Have a great day!

I am s-i-c-k today. I woke up dry heaving, gagged making Chloe bfast & nearly threw up when I opened the dishwasher and trash can.
I'm sipping ginger ale & hoping I don't get carsick on my way to my ultrasound today. I've got an hour long drive to their office..
honeydew / 7968 posts
@Pancakes: weekend was good. Took the kids out for lunch and they were the best they've ever been. Very proud mama.
@gingerbebe: ugh. I always keep my kids home if they are sick. Hope u feel better. And hope u have a great us! So exciting!
@Mrs. Jump Rope: hope u have a great us too! Ugh, I've been breathing with my mouth lately cuz all the smells are nauseating.

@Mrs. Jump Rope: Ask for that Zofran! I haven't vomited, but I have debilitating nausea. Like I was curled up on the couch in a blanket all day yesterday because I was so miserable. I took Zofran twice throughout the day and also wore my sea bands. I don't know what is wrong with me, but it's so miserable. I swear the Zofran helped a bit more than that for me last time, so maybe it will help you.

OMG I had to run to Rite Aid to buy prune juice and Mylanta - while gagging! Help me Jesus!
blogger / coconut / 8306 posts
@Boogs: I definitely will be. I got here early so I'm waiting for DH to get here before I take Chloe out of the car. She's sleeping. I sipped ginger ale the whole way here and it helped, but I'm almost out!

@gingerbebe: Sounds horrible! And pass that prune juice!
@Mrs. Jump Rope: You poor thing driving yourself like that! Hope the appointment goes well.
