So does Zofran help with nausea also? Or primarily vomiting? I haven't thrown up yet, but this all day, every day nausea is awful. It's honestly starting to mess with my head. I am generally a very upbeat person but after days of feeling like crap with no end in sight I've become this monster. I'm waiting on some Unisom/B6 I ordered to be delivered..I'm hoping that does the trick, but in case it doesn't will Zofran be any help or am I basically SOL?

Good luck at your US @mrs. jump rope. I hope you feel better soon. Maybe just try to eat something if you can... I know that is easier said that done.

I feel like you @littlebit - yesterday I was crying because my DH suggested I "go get some exercise" when I said I felt so tired and yucky and I just completely melted down about how much it sucks to just feel lousy all day. It just sucks the life out of you and makes you so miserable.

Can anyone explain this unisom/B6 combo everyone is talking about? I've never really heard of it.

    nectarine / 2932 posts

@psw27: I said the SAME exact thing..it's literally sucking everything out of me! Gah. Anyhow, from what I've read the combination of unisom and b6 together has helped a lot of women with the nausea. I don't know how or why, but I asked my nurse about it and she said it was safe for me to take. I plan on taking half a unisom and 50mg of b6 every night. Who knows if it'll actually work but at this point I'm desperate!

@littlebit - interesting! I usually have a bad reaction to anything that is supposed to make you sleep (night terrors/sweats/etc.) so I'm not sure if it would work for me. Maybe worth looking into though! I hope you feel better soon... counting the days til the end of 1st tri!

@Littlebit: It is supposed to help with both. I am still crazy nauseous, and feel like I need to vomit, but haven't. I feel like Dramamine might actually work better, but I don't know that it's safe to take every day for several weeks.

@psw27: Same here. DH told me to go on a walk down the street and I just cried. The next few weeks can't pass fast enough! Here's a bit about the unisom/B6 http://www.hellobee.com/2012/09/25/surviving-morning-sickness/ & http://www.hellobee.com/2011/11/17/nausea-treatments/

    HB is 159!

I also have a .5" SCH but they aren't worried. It explains my spotting. Also told me to stop progesterone in 2 weeks.
I was also released to my OB!!

Hey guys. It is with a heavy heart that I tell you guys that I found out today at I miscarried somewhere in my sixth week. Just found out when getting into a last minute appointment that I rescheduled because I have to leave town because my grandpa is dying and we need to head to Ohio to be with family. To say that this has been the worst day ever is pretty much a horrible understatement. I have a d and c scheduled for tomorrow.

I just want to thank you all for being such a supportive wonderful group - I am sorry that I probably won't have it in me, at least at the beginning, to follow along and support you and your exciting new additions.

Sorry to all those not feeling well. I know myself that when I turned down chocolate cake today at work that things are bad. Food just feels like it sits in my stomach. Eating doesn't even help anymore. Boo

    @gingerbebe: How was your appointment?
@Mrs. Jump Rope: Yay for a good appointment. That's a great healthy heartbeat!

@Mrs. Confetti: OMG I'm so sorry. I had a missed miscarriage that we found out about at our first US at 10 weeks and it was the same thing where it stopped progressing at week 6. It was pretty much the worst experience ever and I can only imagine how hard this is with your grandfather's health on top of it. I will be praying for you and your family.

@Mrs. Confetti: HUGS! I'm so so so sorry. I'm sure it won't make you feel better, but add me to the list of those who had a missed miscarriage. I had a D&C in Nov '12, and I'd also be happy to answer any questions you might have. Praying for you.

@Mrs. Confetti: Oh no, I'm terribly sorry. Its an awful thing to go through and my hear breaks for you. It's sad how many of us in this thread have had missed m/c and D&C. Nothing we can say to make you feel better, but we're all here if you need us. Praying for your grandpa and family too.

I hit six weeks yesterday and this morning the queasiness hit me right on schedule! I really hope I can survive on pb and j for the next 4-6 weeks because that is the only thing that doesn't make me gag.

Thanks guys. Just trying to process everything and DH is being wonderfully supportive and came home to handle our kiddo so I can rest and be sad. I am so sorry that so many of you have been in my shoes and wish all a very happy and healthy 9 months.

@Mrs. Confetti: oh my gosh, I am so so sorry to hear this. My heart breaks for you! Even though many of us have been through these it still feels terribly isolating when it happens. PLEASE feel free to contact me if you need someone to just listen. I'll be thinking about you!

@Mrs. Confetti: I'm SO sorry to hear this. I was really hoping we'd somehow get through with no losses in this group. I've been there too, and I know there's nothing we can do to help, but if you need to talk, add me to the list of people you can contact. Hugs.

So my first appointment is tomorrow. I'm really nervous. As I think I've mentioned before, I'm trying to see a midwife (that's who my appointment is with), but I'm not sure with my history if they'll accept me. I've tested all clear, and my two m/c's were probably just bad luck, so I shouldn't be considered high risk, but it'll be up to them. I've ALWAYS wanted to see a midwife, and this is the only practice I'm aware of here, so if they say no I'll be really upset. Plus, of course, I'm just all too aware that not all appointments end well. I'm assuming/hoping they won't be doing any kind of ultrasound or anything, but still. I'll be really glad to get this over with.

for those who have had their first appt, did you have an ultrasound? how many weeks along? was it over the belly or trans-v? did your dh go with you? sorry for the questions...just trying to prepare for my first appt on thursday.

  34. Mrs. Jump Rope

    blogger / coconut / 8306 posts

@gksj: my first appointment was with an RE, so it was a little different. After my beta was confirmed, I did have an ultrasound scheduled followed by a second one two weeks later for viability. Now that I'm released to my OB, I suspect my first appointment will be just like my last.

They'll check your weight, blood pressure and take a urine sample. They'll discuss the do's and dont's in pregnancy, answer any questions you have, possibly attempt to find the heartbeat on a doppler (don't freak if they can't find it; My OB couldn't find Chloe's until my 16 week appointment!), and talk to you about the NT scan (it's elective). Then you'll schedule another appointment for in 4 weeks!

My prenatal appointments have always been quick and easy.

ETA: My husband came to maybe the first appointment, but none really after that. They're so quick & it didn't make sense for him to take off work. He came to as many ultrasounds as possible, but not all!

@Mrs. Confetti: So sorry to hear your news. Hoping that things start looking up for you soon.

@gksj: With LO, I got an ultrasound at my first appt. I was 8 weeks along (thought it was 6, but just checked). DH came. Transvaginal - and she made me insert the wand myself which caught me off- guard and was quite awkward.

  36. tequiero21

    honeydew / 7968 posts

@gksj: my first appt with this doctor, I did have an ultrasound. Couldn't really see anything. They took a lot of blood, asked a lot of questions. My hubby would have probably come if he could, especially since he worked in the next building, but he couldn't.

With my last pregnancy, was with an re. I want to say he didn't come the first appt cuz he was working. But with the re, I got scanned at like 5 weeks and change, so we couldn't see anything really except a sac. He came to the next one, where we saw the heartbeat.

I think all doctors are different so u should call to see how they do it. I want to say in all my first trimester or more ultrasounds, they were all transvaginal. Think when I was a lot bigger was when they did it over the belly?

@Weagle: wow. That is ultra weird and awkward. I've never ever ever had to insert it myself. Wtheck would they make u do it?!

  37. Weagle

    coconut / 8498 posts

@tequiero21: We still joke about it. I didn't think it was possible for my DH to be embarrassed, but that did it for some reason. The tech didn't give a reason. She just said, "I don't insert it for T/V." Otherwise, she was by far the nicest and most wonderful tech in the office!

  38. gksj

    olive / 60 posts

@Weagle: awkward is an understatement. i don't know what i would do in that position...

i think dh is coming to this appt since the office is near his work... i won't get my heart set on seeing/hearing much (i'll be 6w 5d) but i'd like dh there in case it's bad news. definitely nervous but a little excited too!

  39. tequiero21

@gksj: yeah, that's why he's trying to make an effort to make it in the beginning. I was alone when I got bad news my first pregnancy.
