Oof. @mrs. Jump rope that sounds rough. It's so hot in my office today I'm literally sweating. I need to go eat/get out of here ASAP.

Had my first appointment today. We were able to see the yolk sac, fetal pole and a flickering heart beat. But it's early yet, so I'm going back in a couple weeks to make sure everything is progressing well. Still nervous, but getting pretty excited too!

@knittylady: congrats and welcome!
@gksj: great news!
Talked to my mom today and she said her nausea only lasted from 6-8 weeks so I have my fingers and toes crossed this won't be too bad. But I have been subsisting on pb and j with goldfish crackers from 8am-6pm, and then usually feel ok to eat normal food for dinner. bacon and eggs cooking in the morning puts me over the edge! YUCK. sorry husband, you have to stick to cereal for a couple weeks.
So interesting to read how many of you are in maternity clothes already! I felt bloated the first week but now pretty much back to normal - I just don't like super tight clothes I haven't vomited at all and I'm eating regularly but I've lost 2 lbs since I took my first test two weeks ago! That's a little weird feeling, but normal I hope.

Had our first scan at the RE yesterday. I was only 5w6d yesterday so there wasn't much to see But he said that everything was as expected for this time. We saw a sac and the early stages of a fetal pole and everything measured on track. My husband swears he saw a flicker of a heartbeat but that might have been wishful thinking if you ask me
Go back in a little less than 2 weeks (2/10) for a follow up.
@gksj: Glad your appt went well! I like that I'm a few days behind you, it gives me an idea of what to expect later

@Kate6214: Oh gosh, I'm so sorry! I haven't checked in for a couple of days and just saw this. I've been there twice, so wall me if you need me.
Sending lots of love and healing prayers your way.

@SweetiePie: so glad you had a great appointment! i hope the next two weeks don't crawl by for you!
I haven't had any bleeding in at least a week, I think, but today I'm pretty crampy. Normal, right? Still no spotting but now I'm extra paranoid because of the SCH..
pomelo / 5220 posts
I have been crampy @mrs. jump rope and one of my pregnancy apps says its just the uterus expanding... Is it just mild or is really hurting?
blogger / coconut / 8306 posts
@psw27: it's period like cramping. On a scale of 1-10 I'd rate these a 4.
pomelo / 5220 posts
@mrs. jump rope - Seems like a reasonable amount of cramping. I hope you are okay! I'm sure it is totally normal, especially without bleeding.

@Mrs. Jump Rope: I had period like cramping in the beginning. So far, looks like its normal.

@knittylady: Welcome!
God these pregnancy symptoms are driving me nuts. I'm miserable when I'm sick, but if I feel better, I start to worry!
I felt a little better on the MS front yesterday but passed out at 7pm and slept 12 hours. Woke up feeling fine - didn't even gag with the toothbrush! So of course I started worrying.
It was fine though, I started violently dry heaving into my trash can at work 2 hours later. SIGH.
Also sorry to be TMI, but this egregious constipation is still ruining my life. In the last 24 hours, I ate a HUGE burrito, 2 McMuffins, a fiberful dinner, and 10 prunes, drank prune juice, decaf coffee, and a half caff coffee, and took TWO Colace gelcaps and I was finally able to go once. Barely.
In better news, my BIL and SIL are expecting and we just found out its going to be a boy! Its our first nephew/niece, so we're pretty pumped (even though I always "knew" it was going to be a boy!) I've already started hoarding baby hockey stuff for them but now that I know for sure its going to be a little boy I'm going to go nuts!
As for me, I have a feeling its going to be a girl! Anyone else have a guess at what they're having?
::edited to add::
I also got a call from my regular OB's office yesterday (we got transferred from our RE last week). They want me to come in to meet with my provider next Wednesday and to have a 2nd US! Yay! I get to see the bean again and hopefully its more human looking and not so blob-like. Fingers crossed everything's still looking good in there. Now that we've seen the HB, I would be extra devastated if anything went wrong. I think if we get a good US next week, we'll tell our families. I'll still probably wait to tell FB until after the first trimester is over, but I think it would be too cute to let our families know for Valentine's Day (we send things to our moms every year).

@SweetiePie: So glad to hear things went well!
@Mrs. Jump Rope: Cramping is definitely normal. My midwife said as long as it's not really painful or accompanied by bleeding, not to worry about any weird feelings in that area. In your case I guess bleeding wouldn't even be alarming, so I'd just keep an eye out that it doesn't get markedly painful and not worry a bit!
@gingerbebe: No guesses on what I'm having. My mom swears it's a girl, and she says she's got a 100% accurate track record for babies born to friends/family in the last few years. All the online predictors say girl too, but we're team green so I'm not focusing on one or the other. Don't want to be disappointed! And yes, it is so frustrating to just want symptom to go away when you have them, but worry if they actually do go away! And yay for getting an ultrasound and telling family! It's so fun to tell.
For those who aren't gold/haven't seen it, turns out my cousin is having a baby in a month! Hoping our babies can turn out to be friends! Though don't even know yet if she's keeping it. She never wanted kids, so she may go the adoption route. I hope not, but I'd understand.

Hi ladies! How was everyone's weekend?
I had a small bleed yesterday but heard baby's heartbeat in the morning and again before bed last night on my doppler. The bleeding stopped by early afternoon and hasn't continued since. It's weird to know its normal and not be worried.
I've for my first prenatal on Wednesday!
How is everyone feeling?
honeydew / 7968 posts
Weekend was tiring. *yawn* the twins are getting tougher to manage. Ugh. All I want to do is curl up and take a nap but the kids say, no way!
@Mrs. Jump Rope: so lucky. We still haven't found the heartbeat. Very anxious about tomorrow. Ugh. I swear I already have a bump, and I feel yucky and tired. But I also don't feel pregnant. So not finding the heartbeat is not very reassuring. What's a first prenatal? Good luck!

LO is sick with a cold, but we've still had a decent weekend. ILs were in town yesterday so it was nice to visit with them for a bit without having them stay with us, and this morning my friend hosted a brunch that I went to while DH stayed home with LO.
8 weeks today...just under two weeks until my next appointment. I've said it before, but it's so true, this pregnancy is just crawling by for me! Anxious for the next appointment to make sure the bean still has a heartbeat and then we'll probably tell the ILs when we go to visit them that weekend.

So, DH said today that I actually look pregnant and have a small bump. Made me really happy, even though I know it's bloat. But I've figured out how to dress to emphasize it looking like pregnant belly not fat belly. Not enough so that a stranger would know, but anyone who did would recognize it.
Makes me happy even if it's silly since I know it's not the baby yet.
Unfortunately, I'm in my sort of scary week. I lost my first at 9w5d, and I'm 9w1d today. I've been dreading this week. Still, once I'm past it my ultrasound is next monday, so that'll be reassuring to have. Still worried about it, but feeling more confident. I'm just SO exhausted and emotional (cried at 2 commercials during the Superbowl!) and hungry and sore breast-ish (that one doesn't work as an adjective). I feel too pregnant to worry too much. Thankfully still not too much nausea though. I'm going to hang on to enjoying that.

@Torchwood: I hope you have a great appt on Monday! This has to be a tough week for you but I know you can power through it!
My losses were all before 6w, and I'm 9w1d today too. Feeling nervous for some reason?! I couldn't find the HB this morning which obviously means doom my appt is Wednesday but I doubt she'll use the doppler so early but I'll likely get a script for my NT scan.

Wohoo for upcoming appointments! I have my first on Thursday at 8 weeks...I am so nervous. And excited Really hoping everything checks out ok. My birthday is Friday, so this would be the best gift ever! We'll also tell our families this weekend if everything goes well.
@Mrs. Jump Rope: Glad to hear your bleeding has stopped. I'm so glad you have the doppler to reassure you!
@Torchwood: I totally teared up at commercials last night, too
@tequiero21: Yucky and tired is promising!
pomelo / 5220 posts
me too @littlebit! Can't wait for Thursday to get here. My appointment isn't until 4 so its going to be a long day!
Totally teared up at commercials last night @torchwood - especially the puppy/horse budweiser commercial, even though I've seen it before. And the military homecoming one!
Weekend was pretty good, just really tired. I could not get out of bed this morning!! Hopefully we get a snow day on Wednesday and I can just lounge around the house

@littlebit: Enjoy your birthday week! Mine is on Thursday. Fx for a great appointment for you!

@Littlebit: good luck Thursday and happy early birthday!
Just came back from my appt. bad news, they made me wait over an hour and half, I was annoyed. Good new, saw the beating heart of my baby. Phew. Had all these fears. Really thought I'd hear bad news today. My next appt is for the nuchal scan in about 2 weeks! Came so quickly, yet it's so far!
@psw27: good luck on your appt on thurs too!
@Mrs. Jump Rope: good luck on wed! Yes, no heartbeat on Doppler means doom lol. That's why I was dreading today.

@Pancakes: It's been crawling for me too! It's so hard to wait to feel safe, and to share the news.
@Mrs. Jump Rope: Excited to hear about your appointment this week!!
@Torchwood: thinking of you! hope this week speeds by and your appointment is great next week.
@Littlebit: @psw27: Yay for your first appointments! Mine is a week from tomorrow and it's taking forever to get here!
My weekend was busy, but I got to sleep in on Sunday which never happens, and it was glorious. I think I'm going to have to keep a snack in my night stand as I'm starting to wake up feeling sick.
I leave Wednesday morning for Chicago for the wedding I'm standing up in. (they're slated to get 21 inches of snow on Tuesday!) Hoping I make it there and make it through a weekend of wedding festivities without arousing too much suspicion!
pomelo / 5220 posts
Yay @tequiero21! That is great news about the heartbeat, how exciting! I can't wait for my appointment. I hope we get to see/hear something. I have no idea what to expect.
Yikes 21 inches of snow @lattelove. I hope your flight isn't delayed. Chicago is good at handling that kind of thing. Did you figure out the bachelorette party situation yet?
honeydew / 7968 posts
@LatteLove: good luck next week. I know we are getting tons of snow in nj, crazy out there. Hope it's not so bad and u have a safe trip.

So MS is kicking my ass. I cry "uncle."
I was sick as a dog all day Saturday, and thus could not get into work (when I had planned to spend a whole day there). Its our busiest time of year and we're expected to work long hours and weekends to keep up the pace and I just couldn't do it. I was retching into a bucket almost all day and was just so exhausted. I finally broke down and took half a tab of Zofran at dinnertime after DH begged me to, but I really don't want to take it because I technically haven't been prescribed the medication from my OBGYN (who I wont meet until Wednesday). Its just that we have Zofran left over from some surgeries we both had last year. My RE wouldn't give me anything - told me to wait to see my OB. When I called the OB's office the nurse to whine, she just told me to take ginger and B6 and wait until my appointment Wednesday. Kill me.
The maximum amount of Zofran you can take is 8mg at a time, for a total of 32mg per day, and I've taken like 4mg at a time, for a total of 8mg a day, and I've only done it like twice, so I don't think its a big deal, but I don't want to go rogue and start taking pills willy-nilly. The Unisom/B6 combination sorta works for me, but it makes me way too drowsy to take it for work, so I'll take it at night sometimes, but otherwise I'm just violently gagging or retching every few minutes. The Zofran is basically the only thing that works.
I e-mailed my doctor this morning and told him my situation so hopefully he will Rx me something between now and Wednesday. I just hope he tells me to take Zofran and then I wont have to feel guilty about it. I told him I can't be drowsy, so that will probably take Diclegis (which is the Rx version of Unisom and B6) off the table.
I finally dragged myself into work yesterday for 3 hours, and during that brief span managed to snap at my boss and stay grouchy for the entire 3 hours. Then I yelled at my husband afterwards and I felt like such a witch!
So I apologized to DH and my boss this morning and took another half tab of Zofran so that I could be somewhat productive. I feel a ton better after a full night of sleep, apologizing to everyone, and taking the stupid Zofran so let's hope my doctor will give me the green light. I just can't see myself going through the next 2-3 weeks (the rest of our busy season) feeling this sick!
In other symptoms, constipation is still in force. I basically take Colace every 12 hours just so I can go every 36-48 hours. My boobs are killing me, so I basically can't wear a bra right now, which is making dressing for work interesting.
In brighter news, I see my OBGYN on Wednesday and will get a 2nd ultrasound. Hopefully we will get some good pictures that look a little more humanoid so we can announce to our parents. I ended up having to tell my Bible Study on Friday that I was KUed because I had to run to retch a few times in the bathroom. Everyone was really happy for us and I got a lot of good information on local home-based daycares and a reputable nanny.
Are you guys thinking of childcare yet?
blogger / coconut / 8306 posts
@gingerbebe: oh my gosh, that sounds awful. How are you feeling today? My RE wouldn't give me Zofran, either, and told me to wear a seaband religiously. It was really doing the trick but today I am back to dry heaving and feeling awful. I hope your OB will give you a script before Wednesday. I understand your worry about taking the Zofran unprescribed..
So, my phone keeps beeping because we are not bumped up to a winter storm watch. It says 6+" of snow and .5" of ice on Wednesday. Of course I've got an OB appt in the late afternoon :\ Whomp whomp...
apricot / 441 posts
@psw27: I hope I"m not delayed either! Fingers crossed. Although if I am delayed, I get out of the bachelorette party altogether! (I get in at 4:30pm and it starts at 6pm).
My plan is to tell one friend who is also a bridesmaid, have her help cover for me with my ginger ale in a champagne glass or plain tonic water with lime and beg off early because of jet lag. We'll see how it goes!
@gingerbebe: sorry to hear you've been feeling so sick. Whenever I start to feel yucky I remind myself that it's really temporary and that there is always someone who has had it worse!
