    Hi! Work is INSANE this week (I literally had to lay under my desk in a sleeping bag during my lunch hour to rest and worked a 12 hour day yesterday) but I just wanted to pop in because I had my appointment today!

    They bumped up my EDD to 09/13/14, so I am now 8w4d and my OBGYN was fine. Straightforward, experienced, and wanted to know why I fired all my prior doctors. He's not going to be the one delivering me, since its rotating shifts of doctors on call, so I don't really care as long as we have a good relationship the next few months!

    We saw the baby on the US and heard the heartbeat. HB was a whopping 174! Baby was doing a headstand the entire time so it looked like a vampire bat hanging upside down. I flipped the photo upside down to see the baby right side up and it freaked me out because my baby has a FACE! It looks like an alien skull!

    Dr. took a few different angles so we could get a side profile and see the umbilical cord too. Here's the shots:

    @Boogs: we are going to the beach for Easter and possibly for 2 weeks in May (just me, mom and Chloe) so we will get a vacation but not the big family one in July. I bet we take a staycation instead. DH has always wanted to rent a cabin at the lake so that's always a fun weekend option.

    @gingerbebe: I didn't realize what I was looking at until you pointed out the baby was facing you. I can see the face!

    I had an ultrasound with Chloe recorded, at 18w I think? She looked straight at the us wand, YAWNED, then out her hand over her face. That should have the first indication that I've got a ham on my hands!

    @gingerbebe: Wow that's a super good face shot!

    @Mrs. Jump Rope: The cabin idea sounds like it can be great!

    I just scheduled my first tri screening. OMG this is really happening?! About Two weeks until I'm in the second tri and feeling safer.

    Has anyone thought about how they'll announce? I was thinking of announcing on Facebook on St. Patricks Day but can't think of anything cute or cheesy to say. We still haven't told the rest of our family yet, either!

    @gingerbebe: great pics!

    @Littlebit: eeeek! Good luck! First ones are always so exciting and a bit scary.

    @Mrs. Jump Rope: don't think I'll do anything big. Last time, never announced, just if people asked or what not. This time, might say something like three under three....

    Good luck @littlebit! I can't wait to hear. Mine isn't until 4:20... today is going to drag!

    Ahhh! Everything is perfect! I can breathe now Heartbeat was there beating away at 154bpm. Measuring at 8w1d (I don't know why the ultrasound says 7w6d)...which is pretty on point with what I thought I was (8weeks today). We didn't get to hear the heartbeat but we did see it. My husband is so proud and excited. We're telling my family tonight, and his family on Sunday (our moms already know but that's it). Thank you for the well wishes, ladies. My next ultrasound is the NT on March 10th.

    Here she (I like to think it's a girl ;)) is!

    Good luck! @littlebit @psw27: Keep us updated!

    After my losses, I'm not really sure how I feel about announcing on Facebook. I know how painful it was to see other people's announcements, so I'm thinking I probably won't do anything big. I'm sure it will come out at some point. I totally understand wanting to, though! It's so exciting! I definitely can't wait till more people know IRL.

    After eating Taco Bell for breakfast I decided I "needed" a burger and fries for lunch. Mmm, crinkle fries are the best! I also treated myself to a Diet Coke/Mr. Pibb combo for the first time in WEEKS! It tasted so good. Mmmm.

    (In my defense, I also had a grapefruit, a yogurt, and an apple today but...yeah.)

    @Littlebit: @gingerbebe: So happy to see the lovely pictures, and that all is going so well!

    @gingerbebe: Taco Bell sounds AMAZING right now. Wanna go get me some?

    I'm happy! I am officially farther along in pregnancy than I've ever been before! Yesterday was my scary day, but of course it was fine. Now I just need to get through my ultrasound on monday, and I think I'll really be breathing a lot easier. And honestly, I'm starting to look forward to the ultrasound a little! Still scared, but seeing other's pictures makes me eager to see my own! Anyone have thoughts on how it'll be different at 10 weeks than it was at the only other one I've seen, at 6 weeks? I would assume there's something to see other than a blob, but not much?

    Congrats on all the great appointments today! I just got home from another 12+ hour day and I was retching all the way home because I had gone too long without eating. I scarfed down food once I got home and now I'm laying in bed waiting for DH to finish showering so I can go to SLEEP. This week has been the pits and I think my boss feels really bad because he got me a box of chocolates today! I'll have to get into those tomorrow.

    I told a friend of mine I was KU today and after hearing about my extreme illness and the baby's high heartrate, she thinks I'm having a girl. DH and I think we're having a girl too, so it will be interesting to see what happens. Hopefully if it IS a girl maybe this means I'll have a relatively easy pregnancy with a boy? Please God? One can hope.

    @Torchwood: hooray! Great milestone. I had an ultrasound with Chloe at 11 weeks and she had a profile. We could see her sucking her thumb! My friend was the sonographer and she snuck me a 3D ultrasound so I got to see Chloe dancing around (seriously! So cool!) and I distinctly remember saying she has DHs nose. And she DOES! It amazed me how much changes in three short weeks.

    @psw27: Hooray!!!!

    @gingerbebe: did you have an early ultrasound, before 8w? A friend told me about the ramzi method and it was correct for Chloe! I can't tell which side is the head on this baby though LOL

    So, here is my dilemma. Thankfully I have a lot of time to consider.

    My OB told me I have an option between VBAC and a RCS. I'm a prime candidate for VBAC and she & the hospital support and encourage that choice. If we want to have a third child, she absolutely recommends a VBAC for baby #2 because while thy can and will do 3 sections, she prefers to only ever see 2.

    I'm 99.9% sure we are two and through. I'd like more kids but DH does not, and I don't see that changing. But, I'd like the option for a safe/easy delivery if and when the time should ever come.

    Ive got low pain tolerance & would likely wimp out at like, 2cm and beg for an epi. Can they last that long? I've heard second deliveries are quicker but is that true if your first was a section? I'm afraid of the epi wearing off, testing and stalling & needing a section anyway.

    For a RCS, I'm worried about recovery time with a toddler. Chloe is ACTIVE and I don't see myself getting any rest once I come home. She will want to climb on me, play, be held. DH had 3 weeks leave but can take up to 4.

    Which option would you choose? Why?

    @Mrs. Jump Rope: I think you're really lucky to have a doctor who has this attitude! I wish there were more doctors and hospitals like yours, because trying for a VBAC is not a given in a lot of places. In my experience, finding an OB who will even consider a VBAC (after 1 standard c/s) is difficult and if you do find one, you're usually looking at spending at least a couple thousand extra on a VBAC fee that isn't refundable if you end up needing a RCS, and isn't covered by insurance. If your doctor and hospital are willing to support you in a VBAC attempt without imposing a slew of conditions, I think that is great! You should read the ACOG guidelines on VBAC/TOLAC, and decide what you're comfortable with. Best wishes!

    @Mrs. Jump Rope: Labor pain isn't like other pain. I think women tend to bear it better because we know the prize on the other side. I would choose VBAC, but that's because I'm terrified of surgery. However, vaginal deliveries aren't always easy peasy. It was two weeks before I could stand up more than 5-10 minutes before passing out. I couldn't have taken care of another LO alone. I could barely take care of myself. But, what happened to me wasn't typical, so it's not necessarily your fate.

    blogger / coconut / 8306 posts

    @Weagle: I've heard a surprising number of hard recoveries with a vaginal birth and that deters me too. I truly wasn't in a ton of pain during my CS recovery and didn't even finish my prescription pain killers. On the other hand, I got an adequate amount of rest and I think that played a large role in my quick recovery.

    My CS was easy enough that I've always said I want an RCS.. Her recommendation on 3+ is making me waiver in my decision because I really would like to keep the option open..

    @Mrs. Jump Rope: i have zero experience, but i'm guessing 2nd time birth is only easier if you've already had a vaginal birth. since a huge baby already passed thru the canal, u know? if we had a previous csection, i have a feeling it'll be the same as a "first birth"....

    i personally think i'm going the csection route. just so we know when the baby will get here. i'm so scared of vaginal delivery complication - biggest one being the baby will choke on its cord. i know it's probably not likely, but that really scares me. also, tears. i'm really scared of tears. my friend had a tear so deep and painful she swears off having another kid again. o yeah, and i'm a wimp for pain too. i'm so scared of the pain, even though i KNOW i'd get the epi. lol. csec recovery was not bad at all for me. maybe i was lucky.

    it's nice to keep your options open though. in case you wanted more kids. 4 kids for us is not off the table 100%. but i think i'll still go for the csec this time. especially since it's only been about 2 years since i had my csec. i'm worried that it hasn't completely healed, even though i'm sure it has.

    @gingerbebe I don't know how you are dealing with extreme MS and a busy lawyer job. I am an attorney too, but I left private/hectic/intense practice for a state job and I always think about how I could not have handled my old job + MS. You are a trooper!!

    @torchwood great milestone! hooray!

    @mrs. jump rope Interesting scenario! I didn't even know about VBAC until my doctors office sent me a whole packet on the hospital they deliver at (which is well known for VBAC). Lots to think about but you do have a long time to decide! (or the baby will decide for you!)

    @Mrs. Jump Rope: I had one of the bloggers make something for me to include in a photo announcement I was to do for social media, but still haven't fully decided how and when to so the in person telling our families.

    @Littlebit: Love it! She looks like a sweet little peanut.

    @gingerbebe: Ha I had Taco Bell twice last week because that's all that sounded good. Survival mode!

    @Torchwood: I'll be a couple days short of 10 weeks when I finally go in, so I look forward to what you're able to see when you go. I'm thinking the heartbeat will be easier to find and see and instead of a gummy bear it will actually look like a little person?

    @psw27: Yay, congrats on the great appointment!

    @gingerbebe: Poor you, I hope today is better for you!

    @Mrs. Jump Rope: Oooh what's the ramzi method?! My doctor and I haven't chatted if I'm a vbac candidate yet, but I can't decide what I want to do if I have the option. If you don't mind me asking, why did you end up needing a c/s? My reasons and complications are slightly making me lean towards rcs, but I also had c/s complications so I'm scared of both options lol. As for the epidural, they can give it to you whenever you want it. I was at 5cm by the time I got mine and it wore off. Twice, I know others who get it earlier and it works perfectly the whole time.

    @psw27: I actually have a state job too, but we are just slammed at certain times of the year because of statutory deadlines. Its one of 2-3 non-negotiable busy times we have, but the upside is we also have slower periods so its supposed to "even out." I could not imagine working in a firm and dealing with billables right now.

    My doctor prescribed me sublingual Zofran that melts under your tongue and its so magical. It works so fast and so well for me, I love it.

    Today, I had a breakfast burrito from Taco Bell again (mmm, bacon) and then I had a full on roast beef sandwich with au jus for lunch! (The place freshly roasts their beef in an oven and its served piping hot so I think I don't have a listeria issue). The sandwich was huge so I thought I was only going to have half but...nope. I think I'm stress eating because of work but I'm just happy I can eat without retching/gagging!

    I will have to come into work tomorrow, but I get to leave at 4:30pm today so wheeee! Happy Friday!
