sounds like a good plan @lattelove.
Uh oh @mrs. jump rope do you think your OB office will stay open even with the winter weather? We are getting 10 inches on Wednesday too. Ugh... I need a warm sandy beach in my life!
blogger / coconut / 8306 posts
@psw27: holy crap 10", no thank you. I am so sick of winter. It was 50 here on Saturday and I played outside in flip flops. It felt like summer time.
I did call to see if there was a last-minute opening for tomorrow, and they're booked solid through March. But since I have to be seen on a specific schedule, they'd squeeze me in somewhere because of the weather. So basically, I'll have an appointment this week.. hopefully wednesday, but definitely by friday. they're really good about making things happen!
pomelo / 5220 posts
@mrs. jump rope we had 50 degrees too! I went for a run in a t-shirt, it was heavenly. After the -5 yuck of last week it felt so springlike. That's awesome they will squeeze you in this week no matter what. My OB appt is late in the day on Thursday so I know the city will be back up and running by then. We will probably still have to work Wednesday, even with 10 inches!

Thanks to everyone for the encouragement on getting through this week! I wish DH was as understanding about it as ya'll. He just doesn't get it, which is understandable.
I started my pregnancy journal today. I bought it a couple weeks ago, but I've been putting off writing in it. I was worried about "wasting" it if this one is lost too. But I realized that I can't think that way, and it'd be better for me to keep moving forward with faith that things are going well and will continue that way. Really thankful for my posts on here and facebook, because it was already hard to remember back to exactly what days things happened on.
@Littlebit: Happy early birthday! Sending lots of positive thoughts for your appointment!
@psw27: Yep, those were the ones that got me! Especially the soldier. I think I'd have gotten more teary at the dog except there was a lot of activity during that one distracting me.
@Pancakes: Happy early birthday!
@tequiero21: That would be so annoying to wait that long! But I'm so happy to hear the heartbeat was strong!
@Mrs. Jump Rope: Glad you found it! My cousin is loaning me her doppler, but right now it's loaned out to another pregnant friend. I'm kind of glad I don't have it yet, because I'd definitely freak myself out. And it's nice that you'll be able to get in for an appointment no matter what!
@LatteLove: Hope you can stay safe with all that traveling!
@gingerbebe: I'm so sorry. That just sounds so miserable! I hope you're able to get relief asap.
Major kudos to those of you who are working through all this, or taking care of LOs. I don't have a job right now, and I just want to cry at the thought of getting one. (We don't need the money, but DH would like me to work for a few months just to get our savings back up a little faster once we've closed on the house and written that huge check.) I'm SO beyond exhausted all the time. Any job I'm qualified for would have me on my feet the entire time, and I can't imagine how I'd survive without passing out! So those of you who are toughing this out, know that I have massive respect for you!

@Torchwood: glad u r moving forward and starting the journal! Scary to take that leap of faith sometimes.
And yeah, the wait is enough to have me looking for another doc. She was not personable. Cold and matter of fact. First time meeting her and it was just business as usual, not hi, nice to meet u. No apologies for the wait.

@tequiero21: I have fired 4 OBGYNs and a handful of other doctors the last few years. Other than an OBGYN, I've ended up finding ones that were SO GOOD in comparison that it didn't make sense to me to settle for a cold and uncaring doctor. In fact, I just switched practices to one like 40 minutes away from my house because the doctor I picked there was well respected and the practice itself is large. I got a thumbs up from our RE staff on my pick and my RE nurse even gave me other names within that practice in case I wanted to transfer to a different one after meeting with him on Wednesday. Stick with your gut instinct on your doctor!
So far, this new OBGYN's got my vote because after 1 whining email this morning he just wrote me back and told me I have an Rx for Zofran waiting for me! Praise the Lord! He told me to go ahead and take the full 8mg every 8 hours and that it was safe, so I'll stick with the half tabs I'm on now and see if I can do okay on less.

@gingerbebe: I know exactly how you feel, it's miserable! I'm glad you got the prescription, that's also how they told me to take it and I take 2 whole pills a day. It helps keep me from vomiting, but my nausea and dizziness is so bad that I can barely pick my head off a couch pillow all day. It's been rough dealing with it and caring for a toddler, that's for sure. I hope the Zofran brings you better luck!
I'm having a hard time replying to everyone from my phone, but was wondering what you've all been eating that sits well with you? For whatever reason, trying to eat the same thing twice just makes me more sick.
honeydew / 7968 posts
@gingerbebe: yeah, I've had some really good obgyns so I'm definitely not happy w this one. Glad u found a good one! Also glad he ok'ed your rx! What a relief!

@Boogs: ethnic foods taste good to me. Wish I can have it everyday. Indian, Vietnamese, Thai. I think something with strong flavors.
nectarine / 2180 posts
@tequiero21 @boogs: me too! I had Thai last week, and I made curry tonight, and I've got chana masala on the menu for later this week. I would get Thai takeout way more often if our budget would allow!

@tequiero21: @Pancakes: The only things that have sounded mildly good to me has been Mexican and Japanese, but they both have me heartburn. Had the same issue with Italian. I've had a hard time with spicy and acidic, which stinks because I normally love spicy. Ah and garlic, I love it so, much it has not been returning the feelings lately.
blogger / coconut / 8306 posts
@Boogs: oh my gosh you poor thing. Have you given the seabands a try? Or emitrol? I'd be trying remedy on top of remedy.
As far as food goes, carbs work. I've been eating a lot of rice. On good days I scarf down anything and everything but on sick days I eat small bland snacks. Graham crackers surprisingly worked wonders.
Today I had a bleeding scare and my heart sunk when I saw it. I called my OBs office and my doctor said this is normal with SCH but she isn't theeast bit concerned. If she sees a problem tomorrow at my appt she will send me straight to ultrasound. We are supposed to get a crap ton of snow tonight so she said to call tomorrow to make sure they didn't close
I'm so glad I have a doppler. I checked after our phone call & my little peanut had a great 167bpm
pomelo / 5220 posts
@gingerbebe I'm glad you got an RX. Stick with it and I hope you feel better soon.
@mrs. jump rope that is so scary! I hope your appointment goes well tomorrow.
@pancakes @tequiero @Boogs I haven't liked onions or garlic lately at all. I've been eating pretty simple, bland foods. Lots of apples, bananas, OJ and yogurt. I don't have much interest in dinner but Indian food does sound delicious!
hostess / papaya / 10540 posts
@Mrs. Jump Rope: I've been wearing them nonstop. What's emitrol? I've been trying to eat bland foods, but still stuff with fiber since the Zofran is causing its own problems.
I wish I had a Doppler, I still don't have an appointment for another 2 weeks and I would be nice to have a little something positive to listen to when I'm feeling extra lousy.
blogger / coconut / 8306 posts
@Boogs: emitrol is an OTC Nausea relief medicine. It was kind of pricey for the amount you get, but can be taken every 15 minutes until symptoms subside. It took the edge off for me and made me not feel like death but the damn seaband was cheaper and works better. Go figure..
honeydew / 7968 posts
@Mrs. Jump Rope: that's so scary. Glad u have the Doppler! Hope u get to see the baby tomorrow.

Anyone else feeling guilty about their eating habits right now? My midwife said to just eat what I can keep down, find the energy to prepare, and will fill me up, and worry about healthy eating later when I feel better. Which is, of course, what you always hear about the first tri. But I feel bad making Campbells soup, with all the preservatives and major lack of nutritional value, even when right now it's the only thing I can think of that I could get down.
pomelo / 5220 posts
@torchwood don't feel bad. My nurse referred to the first trimester as "survival mode" and said as long as I was trying to get my prenatal vitamins down and eat healthy when I was up to it, then it would be okay.
pomelo / 5607 posts
@psw27: Thanks. I'm trying to remind myself that that's basically what all doctors say!
Those of you with seabands, where did you say you got them? And are they ms specific, or for nausea in general? We're going on a cruise in a few weeks (!!!), and DH is worried about about motion sickness. And I'm a little worried about it making me sick, even though I'm normally not a motion sickness person. I was thinking it might be good to have some of those along. And I wouldn't mind having one right now. I don't get much nausea so far, but I am today!
hostess / papaya / 10540 posts
@Mrs. Jump Rope: Thanks I'll definitely look.
@Torchwood: I think I found mine at my local drug store (like a CVS, Longs, Walgreens, etc) but I know Amazon also has them.
honeydew / 7968 posts
@Torchwood: got them at Walgreens or cvs. Better to have them just in case!! So jealous! Have a fun, safe, sick free trip! I want to set up a babymoon too. Can't go for too long too far cuz of my kiddos tho.
blogger / coconut / 8306 posts
@Torchwood: I got mine at target for $9! Rite aid had them for $15.
honeydew / 7968 posts
@Torchwood: yeah, I feel guilty about what I'm eating. Had some very unhealthy ramen a few times already. I like that whole survival mode mentality.
On good news, finally found the heartbeat on the Doppler I already saw the baby yesterday, so wasn't too worried, but glad I found it.
Those with another kid, do u feel guilty you're not giving your kid 100%?
blogger / coconut / 8306 posts
@tequiero21: yay for finding the HB!!!!
I worry about not giving Chloe 110% after the baby is here. She's starting to show some signs of jealousy. I held my friends 6mo the other day and she screamed "no baby Addison, MY MOMMY!!" And now that I've got a visible bump, she tells me to put the baby away... Other times, she gives the "baby" a hug and says I love you.
I just worry that we won't hve our special one-on-one time like we have right now. She tells me "mama, you my special" so I'd like to do something sweet for her when she's a big sister... And make sure to carve out one on one time!!
honeydew / 7968 posts
@Mrs. Jump Rope: o yeah, after the baby comes is going to be way worse, but right now, I'm just not into all the kids play. Too tired, nauseous. I try, but I'm definitely not in it like I was pre-baby. Also, my patience is wearing thin. I literally have to count to 10 or so. But even then, they drive me nuts. Poor babies. I feel bad for them.

I forget who asked for an update, but I got my maternity othes from old navy yesterday & tried them on this morning.
I got a pair of grey shorts. I sorely underestimated how short 5" are, so those suckers are going back.
I also got a pair of black lounge pants which are kind of like wearing a slice of heaven on your body. I should order another pair because damn, I'm never taking these off.
Also got a few shirts & a new pair of leggings.
And, in the last week my bump has exploded and I'm visibly pregnant-looking so my maternity jeans FINALLY fit. Noore awkward stage!
honeydew / 7968 posts
@Mrs. Jump Rope: I really need to go shopping. Glad your maternity clothes are fitting!
Is it just the 2nd time moms? I already have a bump too. I don't remember showing this early. Want to say it wasn't until like 15 weeks that I started showing with my first. I know most of it is bloat, but I definitely have a bump.
blogger / coconut / 8306 posts
@tequiero21: maybe?! I didn't show until 15-18 weeks with Chloe. I had some major bloat going on around 5 weeks with this pregnancy, but yesterday at pre-school pick up a few moms said something to me. It's pretty noticeable now!
pomelo / 5220 posts
@tequiero21 @mrs. Jump rope baby #1 for me and I'm definitely not showing. By the end of the day I have a solid bloat belly and I'm ready for sweatpants cause my work clothes are starting to dig in but nothing I think anyone would notice.
blogger / coconut / 8306 posts
My appt got moved up! Hooray for cancellations! It's only 2 hours earlier but hey, I'll take it.

Just wanted to pop in and say we had our first ultrasound on monday and saw our little peanut for the first time with a strong heartbeat of 170 bpm!! What an amazing experience!!! Good luck to everyone with upcoming appointments.... any idea of when you ladies plan on sharing the news if you haven't done so already?
blogger / coconut / 8306 posts
I'm in the waiting room and there's a woman here having a snack. She's chomping and smacking her lips. This is the grossest thing in the world to me.
hostess / papaya / 10540 posts
@tequiero21: Totally feel guilty, but at the same time I'm just in survival mode. My kid is extra clingy to top it all off. Like you, it makes me nuts. I just want him to go play on his own and he wants to crawl all over me, rub my face, and just tells me he just loves me when I tell him to give me space. I also had some unhealthy ramen, but it so hit the spot.
@Mrs. Jump Rope: I do feel bad about the special one on one time, and I always say that I hope the value of a sibling is more than our old one on one time. I asked for an update on the clothes! If anything specifically works I definitely want to snag. 7" shorts are my favorite, but it looks like there are none in maternity.
@tequiero21: @Mrs. Jump Rope: My belly wasn't flat before, but I personally feel like I have a little more than bloat. I only have 1 pair of pants left that I can comfortably wear for a little while, so I really need to start adding to my maternity wear arsenal. I'm hoping to luck out with some cute maxi dresses to get me through everyday and some events coming up once spring hits.
@psw27: Nothing like cozy pants!
@Mrs.Hawk71: Very exciting! I would really like to share soon so I don't have to keep acting like I feel good when I don't. Still don't know how or when to start telling people. Do you have any ideas when or how you will?
@Mrs. Jump Rope: Hope your appointment goes well! And eww about the lady!
nectarine / 2180 posts
@Mrs.Hawk71: Congrats on your good appointment! Mine is a week from Friday and I can't wait! If everything goes well, we'll tell DH's parents next weekend when we go see them. I have already told my parents, my sister, and my 2 closest girlfriends because they know about our previous losses and I wanted their support for this one. Everyone else, I'll probably hold off on for a few more weeks. I'm not sure how long it will be before it's totally obvious, since this is technically my 4th pregnancy. We had ordered DD a big sister shirt on Etsy way back in 2012 before I lost that pregnancy, and I'm hoping it will still fit her. It's a 2T and she is almost 3 now!

First appointment went well! Scheduling my NT scan for in two weeks, and have another appt the first week of March.
She advised against our beach trip this summer said it's too far for 34 weeks. Boo!

Glad it went well @mrs. jump rope!
@mrs. Hawk71 hooray for your good appointment as well!

@Mrs. Jump Rope: Bummer about the vacation, but glad everything else was good. Maybe you can plan another vacation a little closer to you and when you aren't as far along?
