@gingerbebe - ahh that's crazy. Glad you aren't dealing with billables at least. And I'm SO glad the zofran is kicking butt! Woohoo!

@Mrs. Jump Rope: So if this one isn't you really can attempt that vbac, I just might!

@gingerbebe: That sounds great compared to the pill! Wonder if side effects are different also? Glad it's working for you and you're able to feel better!

@Boogs: yes! I wonder what the chances are of this baby being breech?

I woke up with some bright red spotting this morning but found peanuts heartbeat. I'm admittedly a freak and checked 3 times already this morning. Baby had consistently been in the same location for about 5 days and today she was on the opposite side, then moved to the middle, and now is back where she's always been. I forgot how early they start moving around!

  5. Boogs

    hostess / papaya / 10540 posts

@Mrs. Jump Rope: I feel like not great chances of being breech again, but I have no clue? Maybe a good qiestion for your next appointment?

  6. Torchwood

I'm so shocked by how much my body is changing so fast. I KNOW that I'm not actually showing baby yet, but all of a sudden in the last few days I've gotten a noticeably rounded belly. DH keeps pointing it out, and agrees that at least if it's just bloat/fat, it doesn't LOOK like it is. I just look pregnant. He thinks it's cute. I think my midwife may wind up not happy with me for gaining so early. I say this after 2 rice krispie treats.

  7. Boogs

    hostess / papaya / 10540 posts

@Torchwood: I'm feeling like I'm changing in a similar way, but I haven't gained any weight yet. Maybe you haven't gained any extra weight yet?

  8. Torchwood

    pomelo / 5607 posts

@Boogs: Hopefully! I (purposely) don't have a scale, but I guess I'll find out at my next appointment!

  9. Mrs. Jump Rope

    blogger / coconut / 8306 posts

@Torchwood: my OB told me to try to gain about 20-25lbs and I was all "each trimester? DONE." I gained so much with Chloe (and lost it all) but I don't want to gain a lot this time! So, 20lbs it is!

So, after visit 15247 I can officially say that the cyst is smaller, the bleed is smaller and baby is bigger and healthier! If all goes well, only one more visit to the OBGYN then I can finally be transferred to the midwife!

OMG y'all Saturday I hit 9w and it was like this baby decided to bring the pain. (I always notice my symptoms get worse/change each week, on the dot).

On Friday night, I started taking Miralax for my insane constipation (doctor said it was okay) and I got nothing. Like through Sunday, I had nothing. Meanwhile I was so clogged up that I couldn't eat very much before feeling full to the point of illness. But I wasn't actually eating enough to keep me from feeling nauseated. So I basically spent the entire weekend in the fetal position. (I was able to get away with not coming in to work this weekend).

I kept taking the Miralax and stayed home in case anything happened, but I just kept getting sicker and sicker. By Sunday I missed church and couldn't take it anymore so DH had to give me an enema(!!!!) It got me going within a minute, so that was effective I guess, but for some reason, having my digestive system open again made me SO SICK.

Usually, I can get away with just gagging or dry heaving, but last night, it was full on vomiting. Vomiting out of the blue, vomiting while (trying to) brush my teeth (twice) and vomiting WHILE peeing (that was a new one). And I vomited as soon as I woke up this morning. AND I just vomited at the office (which I try VERY hard not to do).

We have been talking about me becoming a SAHM eventually (got law school loans to pay off), but I've been telling DH that if this is the way its going to be, I can't be working when I'm pregnant with our next kid. Especially if we have another one to take care of at the same time. This is just too hard!
What's scary is that I'm on Zofran! So I'm wondering how much sicker I would be WITHOUT it.

@Pancakes: Next visit is on the 19th, which will be almost 2 weeks since the last - a record for us. You know you're there too often when the receptionists start joking that you are part of the furniture!

Edited because of insane typos. Whoops.

Leaving for my ultrasound in a few minutes! I'm nervous, but not really any more than I was for my first (with my first pregnancy), which turned out fine. So glad DH is going though, he'll help me stay calm! I'm also wearing my "stay calm and don't blink" shirt, for the reminder to stay calm. And cause it's one of my favorite shirts, so it makes me feel better.

@gingerbebe: Sorry to hear you're feeling so awful. That sounds SO miserable. I hope you get some relief soon!

    @farawayviolet: Great news!

    Hi all,
I want to start by apologizing for not being very active on this thread. When I joined the Feb 2014 due date thread last year, it got really attached really quickly and it was extra hard after I had my missed miscarriage. So I've been a little bit guarded this time around.
Well after today we had an excellent appointment and I'm feeling a little less worried so I'm hoping I'll start joining in more
I went in today at 7w3d and I am measuring right on track - 7w4d! That's never happened before, both other pregnancies we measured behind from the first appt. Heartbeat is 152 and we actually got to hear it! We've never had that experience before either and it was surreal. We saw a heartbeat in both of our other pregnancies but for some reason didn't get to hear it. I wonder if it's because the docs knew it wasn't going to end well and hearing the heartbeat would make the loss harder?

We are just amazed and in awe that this seems to be going well. It's such a foreign feeling to leave an appointment feeling hopeful.

We are officially released from the RE to my OB. And NO MORE PIO SHOTS!!!! That in itself makes me want to dance!
I've taken off the day to relax and enjoy the news

@farawayviolet: yay! Glad everything is alright and looking good! Hopefully u r no longer in pain.

@gingerbebe: ugh that's so rough and sounds so miserable.i was like that with my previous pregnancy, but this time, it's much better. I've only thrown up less than a handful of times and I'm 10+ weeks. I can attest that no two pregnancies are alike

Got my nuchal scan in 9 days! Still have to find a new obgyn. Ugh!

@gingerbebe: OMG. You poor thing. I could have written that post but it was more like Wednesday-today for me. Pretty sure the zofran did it to me so I'm scared to take it again. I'm wallowing in misery today.

I got 2 hours of sleep last night and C is MISERABLE today. She's currently shrieking in her crib. I just.. Today, I just CANT

@SweetiePie: COngrats! What a relief. Glad to hear

I'm back from the wedding weekend and while I got through it with my secret (I think), it was not a fun five days on the morning sickness/exhaustion front. Standing up for 45 minutes in 3.5 heels was a challenge! I puked for the first time Wednesday, and then did everyday for three days. Saturday morning I woke up not sick, started to freak out and then was reassured by being sick on the couch the whole afternoon and evening.

Also, I pity all of you people living in the polar vortex. Five days was all I could handle of single digit temps (that felt like double-digit negatives), snow and wind. And standing up in a wedding taking outdoor photos - BRRRR! So very happy to be back in wintery SoCal with our 63 degree temps.

I'm 8w1d-ish and my first appointment is tomorrow (FINALLY!)
Considering I'm very new at this, and all the pregnancy apps are telling me to make a list of questions for my caregiver - can you guys help me figure out what I'm supposed to be asking at this point?

Also, is an eight-week ultrasound the norm? A few people have told me that I'll only hear a doppler heartbeat and others have said I'll def. have an ultrasound. I have no idea what to expect tomorrow - help!

@Pancakes: we decided not to announce via Facebook out of consideration to friends and family that have suffered recent losses, as well as those who can't conceive.

I think it's one thing to share the news, but I the FB post can be a little painful because in addition to the public announcement, you see the hundreds of people congratulating us - which I imagine is hard for those wishing they could share the same news. I'm sure there will be distant family/friends that will find out months from now and be indignant that they didn't hear sooner, but oh well.

  23. Torchwood

    pomelo / 5607 posts

@LatteLove: None of my providers have done ultrasounds at the first visit. They basically had me come in to confirm pregnancy (pee in a cup), do some checks (take blood), and check what questions I had/let me know what not to eat, etc. I think they don't want to tie up an ultrasound appointment before they even confirm you're really pregnant and not just assuming from a late period or something. As for questions, I never asked many at my first appointments. They usually covered everything on their own. You might ask for a preemptive zofran prescription just in case. My doctor gave me that without asking, even though I was never sick. I still keep some in my purse, just in case.

@SweetiePie: So glad you had a great appointment, and glad to hear we'll be seeing more of you! I was just wondering if we'd ever hear back from some of our non-active mommas on here, and you gave me an explanation why some might be hanging back right now!

@gingerbebe: Ugh, oh my goodness I feel so bad for you! I just need to keep my mouth shut when I feel like crap, because you have got it BAD! I hope it gets easier soon!

@Mrs. Jump Rope: Thanks And I'm sorry you're having a rough day. I hope it gets better and better.

@LatteLove: How exciting for your first appt!
The first two times we conceived naturally and both times they did an ultrasound first appt! The first I was 7w3d (same as today which gave me the major heebie-jeebies since it was a bad appt) and the 2nd I was just about 6 weeks.
Not sure why some do an ultrasound and some don't. But I hope you get one AND get to hear the heartbeat

  26. psw27

    pomelo / 5220 posts

@LatteLove at mine we just chatted for a while and then she did an ultrasound. We didn't hear the heartbeat (but did see the flicker on the ultrasound). I did not do blood or urine testing yet, because they have you go to another (long) appointment with a nurse practitioner at 10 weeks to do all of that, so mine is next Tuesday. I didn't really have any questions, I asked about my running routine to make sure it was okay I kept up with it (when I can... oof. I'm so tired) and we talked a bit about genetic testing options too.

@SweetiePie: yay! Congrats! On all counts! Baby doing well, hitting milestone, no more pio shots, graduating!!

@LatteLove: good luck tomorrow! Glad u survived the wedding! Usually, they ask for history and they tell u what u can and can't do. Take blood, do a Pap smear, take urine.... I've gotten ultrasounds, but not everyone does it. I don't think they would use a Doppler though, too early? Dopplers usually at 10-12 weeks? Can't really think of questions... Just if you are exercising actively, whether I should tone down? Good luck!

@LatteLove: They may do a dating ultrasound. That's what I was told I would have at my appointment on Friday (although I'll be almost 10 w, and I technically already had one when I went to the ER for my SCH). We have lived in 3 states in 3 years and each place has done things differently.

@tequiero21: she finally fell asleep and I got an hour long nap in.

I'm my own worst enemy. I'm soooo thirsty and drink 10-12 16oz bottles of water a day and then I am up ALL NIGHT peeing. I don't get any sleep and it's all my fault.

  31. gingerbebe

    cantaloupe / 6131 posts

@Mrs. Jump Rope: Thanks for letting me commiserate - so sorry you are having a rough day! My doctor told me Zofran shouldn't cause that much constipation - he said it may exacerbate an already sluggish system (which was true for me), but that he hadn't really seen it CAUSE constipation to an extent where the patient was completely miserable like me. He told me I needed to blast through everything in my system with laxatives and then take a stool softener with fiber to keep things moving along afterwards, otherwise I was going to end up in the ER. Hence our enema (which while gross, worked SO FAST that I became a believer). I have the water/pee problem too, but on the nights I really need sleep, I take half a Unisom instead of the Zofran and I usually can sleep until dawn when I have one long pee. It makes me feel so much more rested.

Congrats on the great appointments everyone! I understand being sorta detached too. With our prior losses and everything, I was pretty stoic in my first ultrasounds and asked really frank questions like "Is it alive? Is there a heartbeat? Is the heartbeat good? What drugs can I take to not feel so sick. GO." The doctor sorta laughed at my business-like tone and was like super serious with me.

On the other hand, my DH was like in wonder and cracking jokes with the doctor and hamming it up because he was so excited and emotional about the experience. While I felt pretty unemotional about the whole thing on the way home, DH kept raving to me and our friends about how ultrasounds had always been this traumatic thing for him and he's so happy we finally had a good experience and how cool it was. So, everyone deals with it differently.

    blogger / coconut / 8306 posts

@gingerbebe: no, thank you for letting ME! I forgot to ask for a zofran script at my appt but called in and requested one the next day. I didn't talk to anyone about side effects but did read the prescription brochure from the pharmacy. I know constipation was listed as as s/e but that's interesting it only makes the existing condition worse! I will say I didn't have a major issue beforehand and only noticed it after taking the zofran. I was like you -- uncomfortable and full feeling all the time. I asked DH to give me an enema and he said no. Bastard. I hope he never needs one.

My OB okayes glycerine liquid suppositories and it's as awful as it sounds by oh my gahhhh immediate relief too. I'm going to keep up with colace & lots of fresh fruit and veggies, and fiber bars. Gotta keep those pipes moving!

I'm feeling a little detached from this pregnancy. I had started bleeding at 4w, then was concerned at 6w when I only had a gestational sac and others were seeing heartbeats! I've been bleeding fairly consistently since my BFP and it's worrisome so I didn't allow myself to feel anything..

Now I'm 10w1d and my bambino still has a nice, strong heartbeat. I'm kind of at the point where I realize everything is going to be okay but holy shit I've got to birth a child.

Everything looks great! Measuring 10w2d, which is *exactly* what it should be. Heartbeat is 164. Feel infinitely better now! We got to see her/him moving! And since it was at a training hospital, we got to stay a lot longer while the trainee practiced! S/he has little hands and feet! So happy now!

  34. gingerbebe

    cantaloupe / 6131 posts

    @Torchwood: Yay! Congrats!

@Mrs. Jump Rope: Yeah, same for me on the detachment because we had 2 prior losses and this pregnancy came on a reallllly long cycle with an ovulation date of like CD30 or later. I was convinced my lining was probably old and haggard and not suitable for a fetus so I was sorta assuming we'd have another MC. But here we are at 9w2d!

DH was so flipped out about me being sick yesterday he didn't even care about the enema. He was just worried I'd end up in the ER. Luckily, it was relatively quick and easy. In better news, I actually had two normal bowel movements today, so I'm hoping things will just stay cool from now on. I'm getting some kind of probiotic and two pieces of fruit every day (still haven't been able to stomach vegetables) and I keep Belvita and Fiber One bars around, so hopefully that will be enough. I really don't want to move on to Metamucil!

  35. SweetiePie

    honeydew / 7463 posts

    @gingerbebe: Yay for two poops
As for Metamucil, I swear by Metamucil "Free & Clear". It's not flavored and dissolves really well. You can mix it into anything or sprinkle it on food. And it works! And it's all natural vegetable fiber. I do think it makes me a little gassy, but when needed its worth it!

@Torchwood: That's wonderful news! Oh my goodness I just can't wait till my next U/S now and I just had one today! I've never seen anything past 8 weeks (that's when we stopped growing last time) so seeing something as big as yours makes me so amazed!

I am still a little worried about my lack of sore boobs and lack of night-peeing. But the RE told me not to worry at all so trying not to!
Finally some nausea and just overall blah feelings happening. And fatigue. I get through the day ok but at night I am out by 9:30.

@SweetiePie: the biggest mistake I made was comparing this pregnancy to mine with Chloe. With here symptoms were strong and severe days before I got a positive test. My breasts were so sensitive it would hurt when I walked up steps. I also passed out every night at 7pm. My first beta with her at 13dpo was an 11! At 15dpo my beta was at 27.

This time around, I'm nauseated all the te but other tell-tale pregnancy symptoms are less severe/obvious than with my first. My beta at 11dpo was a 14 and at 13dpo it was 57 or something.

My point is hcg amount isn't Necesarily related to symptom severity, and lack of symptoms doesn't Necesarily mean sudden doom.
