@Torchwood: Bummer about your appointment, but the house news is so exciting, congrats!

My ultrasound went really well. I shouldn't complain because I got GOOD news, but I am still frustrated that the bleeding source is unknown.
First, my placenta moved. She called it a Fundal placenta, and apparently this means I am out of the woods for having a low-lying placenta. So, that isn't the culprit of the bleed.
Second, still no indication of SCH. Same as my 11 week scan. Whew.
Third, baby was all.over.the.place. Goodness gracious this little one doesn't *stop*. We even got to see toes wiggling! I'll post a pic later. I'm surprised at the huge difference betwen 11w and 13w ultrasound growth. WOW.
The one thing she noted is that my right ovary is enlarged & has a cyst on it. I didn't ask if it's still the CL cyst but she said it likely explains the low, dull ache I have localized on my right side.
And, I gasped because I thought maybe we were having a boy but no, it's just a foot. A massive, humongous foot. That was a good laugh...

@Mrs. Jump Rope: That's awesome! Sorry about the lack of info on the bleeding, but that sounds like such a fun ultrasound! I don't know when my next will be, but I'm looking forward to it.

@Mrs. Jump Rope: Oh that's so great! You must be so relieved. I have had some pain on my right side too. Early on I freaked because I thought it was ectopic but the RE said from my symptoms it just sounded like a cyst. I guess if they rupture it can be quite painful so I felt justified for overreacting.
Man my queasiness is harsh today. I took a second Zofran before it was time, hoping that my morning dose got puked up. I felt a little better and took the opportunity to wolf down some food. I got a tuna melt and some soup and it totally hit the spot. I seem to crave tuna every two weeks or so - hopefully that's fine for bebe.
I am counting the hours until I can go home - I am so tired! When will I be able to do anything again?? House is filthy, we've been eating takeout every day, and this weekend, I wouldn't get out of bed long enough for DH to change the sheets! Luckily both my mom and MIL have been super sympathetic on the phone and have basically told DH to be my slave (which God bless him, he has been).
Anyways, getting antsy for our NT scan tomorrow. I have no reason to think there's anything wrong with the baby, but after being so sick, I just want to make sure things are okay in there.

13w1d peanut with a huge foot.
Also saw the baby hiccup and swallow. I saw the stomach today! It's the black circle in the middle of baby's abdomen.

@Mrs. Jump Rope: That's so awesome! I love that you're a day different from me, so I know that's what I have going on in there too!

So according to babycenter I should be getting around 300 extra calories per day. As DH said, I'm getting at least that that per *meal*. I'm just SO hungry, ALL the time. I haven't gained much at all, so I guess it's okay. But I was looking forward to seeing what my midwife said at my appointment about it. Guess we'll see on Friday!

@Littlebit: oh man! Hope you are feeling better!
@Mrs. Jump Rope: omg it's such a lil person now! Glad you have your mind at ease! Lol@foot, thinking it could be something else. That's hilarious.
@gingerbebe: hope u feel better. I can't imagine feeling crappy and having to go into work. Yuck.

@Boogs: haha he just made some comments that other people took the wrong way. So they were monitoring the account and turns out I shared the IP address! So they reached out to me and turns out it was my hubby. I just told them he wouldn't come on anymore. Just stupid comments like, who cares? When someone shared what's in their diaper bags. But I guess bad enough that people reported him lol.

@Mrs. Jump Rope: love looking at ultrasound pictures! That is a big foot! haha
Well, I was able to snag a 10am appt this morning to check in on the babe...hope everything is ok after the fainting incident this weekend. I'll update soon!

Just catching up for the past few days, seems like a lot of scary things have gone on!
@mrs. jump rope glad you got good news but that is frustrating about the bleeding. Love the US pic!
@littlebit hope your appointment goes well, I will be thinking of you. I bet it is dehydration -- I too am not good at staying hydrated. Water just sounds terrible lately and I know it is making me feel like crap.
@torchwood I hear ya on the hunger - I can't seem to get enough food lately but I haven't gained anything (at least as of last week) and I'm still in (uncomfortable) regular pants so I guess my body is using the extra calories to grow the little guy or gal!
So much exhaustion lately -- I am happy to not be nauseous very often but I have been sleeping like crazy. Last night I was asleep by 8:15 and slept til 6:30. I think my DH is pretty sick of me being so tired, but I'm doing the best I can. It is hard to keep up around the house though

@Mrs. Jump Rope: @psw27: thanks ladies!
Just got back - everything looked great! Used the doppler and found a strong heartbeat of 170bpm! It was the first time I actually got to hear the heartbeat!! They said it was probably a combination of low blood sugar and being dehydrated. I need to start eating more snacks with protein apparently. I am so relieved! I still have my regular 12 week appointment on Friday, and then my NT scan Monday...so this will be a filled week of getting to check in on my babe. I'm so excited!
pomelo / 5220 posts
@littlebit Phew! Great news! Protein is a tough one for me too. Do you like Luna bars? those seem to fill me up a bit and have protein in them.

@Mrs. Jump Rope: Well glad you got good news and the baby is okay. That ultrasound photo is such a good one!
@gingerbebe: My day was like that yesterday. Nothing ever helped me. So looking forward to a few weeks from now in hopes that maybe things will finally get better.
@Torchwood: If you're hungry you have to eat!
@tequiero21: Oh, oops!
@psw27: That's great that you are getting such great sleep! Take advantage while you can. I wake up every single night and way too early every day at the exact same times like clockwork. I'm exhausted. It comes with the first trimester territory, so tell you DH at least you're out of the way so he can clean for you. DH has mentioned that he misses the old me, but I don't even feel bad for the slack he has to pick up. You wanted another baby, and I'm just trying to survive as I grow it lol.
@Littlebit: Yay such great news and how exciting for the rest of the week!
pomelo / 5220 posts
@boogs there is definitely a lot of up and down since my bladder doesn't want to sleep through the night. Plus I wake up at 4 a.m. and struggle to keep sleeping but I will take advantage while I can! I keep telling him I'm growing a human and to let me be... Hopefully my energy is back soon.

2.5 hours until our NT scan! Like any other US, I am antsy because I want to make sure the kid is okay. I just want to see a heartbeat and know he or she is measuring on track. But I'm also waiting for the scan to feel like a) this baby is real person I can start to connect to and b) to feel a little "safer" with regards to actually getting to bring home a full grown baby.
While I've been very sick and obviously pregnant, mentally I haven't really connected it with a real baby for some reason. I'm looking to start attaching more to the baby and all my friends tell me the NT scan really made it "real" for them. Really can't wait for the 20 week anatomy scan too, so we can find out the gender. Honestly, I might go have a private scan sooner. Somehow I think getting a gender and picking a name and buying some stuff will also help me bond.
Feeling pretty tired today - didn't sleep well either! Tossed and turned for hours, even though I was exhausted all day yesterday. Drinking a coffee this morning hoping to feel a little perkier. Zofran is running out so I had to refill the Rx - which I was hoping to avoid - but it seems like this bugger wants to kick me in the butt with MS some more.

@psw27: I haven't tried Luna bars, but you're the second person to mention them today so I'll definitely check them out!
@gingerbebe: I hear you. I am really starting to feel discouraged about how unattached I am feeling. Hope that changes soon.

@littlebit I'm a big fan of the "nutz over chocolate" (pb and chocolate) flavor. I think the carrot cake one was pretty good too but I am not adventurous lately in trying new flavors. They sell them at Target in 6 packs if you decide you like them - it helps save a little money.
pomelo / 5220 posts
@gingerbebe I totally get you - I'm excited obviously but on a day to day basis I am still having a hard time connecting this whole feeling like garbage process to "we are bringing home a baby in 6 months." I think gender + starting to buy things would help make it 'real' but I haven't done anything yet. Maybe if I looked pregnant that would help too! Soon enough! Have a wonderful NT scan, it really is fun to see them hopping around in there and see their legs and hands moving around.

@tequiero21: If you want a non-gold bump thread, I'll post in it. I really don't care. I'm putting these up on my blog, so I can hardly worry about them being here.

NT scan went great! Baby was asleep and not very happy about being poked around. The baby was hanging upside down sleeping like a bat like last time. He/she did move around when prodded, but mostly kept rolling over to sleep. Really funny because the baby looks exactly like me when I sleep.
Nuchal fold measured at 1.6mm and the genetic counselor said we are essentially negative for Downs and Trisomy 18. Baby's heartrate had gone down from 172 (from 10 weeks) to 156, but I hear that's normal for the end of the first trimester and also because baby was sleeping.
The images were fuzzier because it was an abdominal scan, but really informative nonetheless. I guess my placenta is like dead center in the middle of my stomach at the front of the uterus - which may explain why I can never find the baby's heartbeat but find my own everywhere when using the doppler.

@gingerbebe: great update!!!
I think it's so cool how you can see baby's personality in ultrasound pictures.

@gingerbebe: Cuuuute! Glad it went well!
Is anyone else getting tummy aches after eating? Its a new thing this week. No matter what I eat, I have a tummy ache after as if I ate a pound of candy. I ate relatively well today (Shredded wheat, a string cheese, chicken breast with quinoa, a brown sugar cinnamon poptart...my guilty pleasure, and a cup of fresh strawberries) and I am still in pain!

@Littlebit: so great to hear the heartbeat, eh? Especially when u haven't seen the baby in awhile. Drink up! Easier said than done.
@gingerbebe: great pic!! And nice measurement! As much as we all say we can handle it, it's definitely a relief when it's not the case. Glad to hear there was a good reason u couldn't hear the heartbeat!
@Torchwood: what the what?! Someone gifted me gold.... And hmmm this was the only place I think I mentioned it?!?! I've been bad about bump pics. I really need to get started. With the twins, I did it weekly. With this one, I haven't shot once.
@SweetiePie: hmmm no tummy aches. Run it by a nurse?
honeydew / 7463 posts
@tequiero21: I think I read somewhere in one of my last pregnancies that the tummy aches can happen because of the havoc that pregnancy wreaks on our entire digestive system...increased acid in the stomach, slower digestion, etc. So I'm not worried, was just hoping I had someone to commiserate with If it keeps happening for a few more days, maybe I'll call the doc.

So looks like they accepted our offer on a house! We will be homeowners again!
pomelo / 5607 posts
@tequiero21: Yay! That's exciting! I wish I could say it was me, but with having just closed on the house, DH has put a hold on any spending. I do want to gift it at some point, to pass it on since mine was a gift. I love that so many bees do that on here. Such a nice community! And yeah, I feel kinda bad that I never did a very early "before" sort of picture. I guess I could do one now and just suck it in REALLY hard, but at this point even when I do that I can't get it all the way to what it was.
@gingerbebe: Love it!
So it's been bugging me that I couldn't figure out why I'm showing when LO is still a 3 inch blob WAY down under my pubic bone. But I was looking at how your organs move during pregnancy, and it kinda makes sense. I thought your intestines and stuff stayed low, like behind or under your uterus. But apparently everything gets shoved up (except, I suppose, the very ends where it connects to the outside). So if you consider that my uterus has more than doubled in size, it makes some sense that it's already started shoving things up and out. It makes me feel less like I'm imagining things or just eating too much (even though I shouldn't be worried about that since the scale clearly reflects that I'm not gaining like crazy, even if I feel like I am).

@tequiero21: Oh, and big congrats on the house!! You posted that while I was writing my reply, so I just saw it.

@tequiero21: hooray!!! Congrats!
@Torchwood: makes sense!
honeydew / 7968 posts
@SweetiePie: hope the aches go away! Sucks to have any pain at all.
@Torchwood: I agree, love the community here. Really wish I could gift too, but I don't want to go behind his back. And we share all our accounts, so he'd notice lol. And geez, when u put it that way lol. Glad there's a reason for my huge bulge. Just stuff u don't really think about until someone says it out loud.
O, if I didn't congratulate u before, congrats on your house! I know we love our mothers, but sometimes, we need to get away.
@Torchwood: @Mrs. Jump Rope: thx! We are excited! Closing at end of May though. So long! They didn't start looking for houses until they sold this place tho so I guess they need time. And we technically have til end of June.

I have not slept well the last 2 nights, so half a tab of Unisom tonight it is! My gagging and nausea were pretty bad today, which not getting enough sleep usually causes or exacerbates. Unisom makes me SO groggy though, so I have to take it at like 7pm in order to wake up the next day. Luckily I remembered tonight!

@tequiero21: yay on being gifted gold and getting the house! Sounds like you had a good day yesterday
@Torchwood: I hadn't thought of it like that - but that makes sense! Feeling less nervous about my bump now!
hostess / papaya / 10540 posts
@psw27: I literally have the same problem. Growing people is hard work!
@gingerbebe: Great news, glad your NT went so well!
@SweetiePie: Yes, every day. Don't know why, though.
@tequiero21: Congrats! You must be thrilled. And also welcome to gold!
@Torchwood: That makes so much sense. I have almost felt silly for feeling like I'm showing, but I guess it isn't just in my head!
hostess / papaya / 10540 posts
I had my NT scan today and they said everything was as perfect as possible! LO2 was soooo active the poor lady had a hard time getting some measurements lol. She obviously couldn't see the gender, but I got secretly excited when she referred to the baby as he.
pomelo / 5607 posts
@Littlebit: @Boogs: @tequiero21: Ha ha, yeah, I felt a lot better realizing I'm not just imagining things or getting fat. I mean, it's not that glamorous (my cute "baby bump" is actually... intestines. awesome), but at least it really is a direct result of being pregnant and the baby growing.
For those who are close to where I am, or at least 12 weeks, can you feel anything if you poke around right at the top of your pubic bone? Babycenter said on the 12 week update that your care provider should be able to feel your uterus there at this point. I think I might feel something, but since it's not like I normally go around poking there, I can't be sure. It also said that if you poke baby at this point she'll react, so I feel kinda bad thinking I might be harassing her.
And what are ya'll doing about pronouns? I meant to alternate, but I've fallen into using "she." Mostly because when I do, DH always comes back with a pointed "he" and I enjoy the little game of it. But I don't picture a girl when I say it. To me, saying she is the same as saying he/she, just easier.

@gingerbebe congrats on the good appointment!
@sweetiepie my stomach is always upset usually after eating -- it either hurts or is constipated or upset in the opposite way... No rhyme or reason either, just depends on the day!
@tequiero21 congrats on the house!
@boogs congrats on the awesome appointment!
@torchwood I am 13W tomorrow and I had this strange sensation in my side yesterday. Kind of a throbbing in lower left area, right up until I went to bed. I woke up in the middle of the night and I swear my uterus was popping out of my stomach... I could definitely feel it, I think because my bladder was so full and I was laying on my back. Once I went to the bathroom it went away but it was kind of alien-esque. Today, totally normal and don't look or feel pregnant as usual...
