@Littlebit: @Boogs: @tequiero21 @torchwood not gonna lie, I mostly just feel and look like a chubby version of myself. I know in a few more weeks this won't be the case, but it is not my favorite! I'd rather be "all in" on the pregnancy bump.
blogger / coconut / 8306 posts
@Torchwood: I can feel mine. My OB said its about half of a hand below my belly button right now. Maybe it's because I've been pregnant before I know what I'm feeling?
I swear I've been feeling the baby move. My sister swears it's too early. Every once in awhile I'll feel little nudges & yesterday it felt like the baby was pressing up against me.
Who knows. Maybe I've got to fart.

@Torchwood: One way or another, it's baby! I haven't tried to feel, so not sure.
@psw27: Thank you! I know, I feel like to outsiders I probably look like I've been eating too much lol.
@Mrs. Jump Rope: I don't feel like kicks or anything, but if I'm sitting completely still, I feel like there's something going on, kinda like ocean waves or something, if that makes any sense.

@Mrs. Jump Rope: "Who knows. Maybe I've got to fart." LOLz.
I definitely just started to feel "heavier" or "fuller" down in the ute area this past weekend (when I hit 12 weeks) so I think there's some expansion going on in there. I've also noticed I have to pee more and I can't eat as much in one sitting, so I guess things are getting smushed around. Sometimes the area below my belly button feels a little firmer, but sometimes I think its just pee.
So DH and I were laughing about how this baby does not want to be a foregone conclusion with regards to the gender prediction theories. We both have GIGANTIC round heads and so does this baby, and there's nothing about it so far that leans one way or another in terms of the skull theory. And we've yet to see any kind of nub for the nub theory. So we were like well maybe at the NT scan we can figure out a guess based on Ramzi. But of course we find out my placenta is DEAD center in the middle of my belly. So the guessing continues. We both think its a girl from a gut feeling standpoint and we really don't care either way, but we're just curious to know if our feeling is right!
Spent another day mulling over work and maternity leave. I'm like not dealing with it much right now bc I'm too sick and tired to get myself all worked up about it but we've come to the point where we've accepted I'll have to go about 3 months completely unpaid. I could go back to work sooner but it would just be too much for all of us I think. That's stressful to think about anyway, but I think I will have to come back half time for a while to ease back into it. Which is looking like me making between 0% to 50% of my salary for the better part of 9 months. Eesh.
BUT I just gotta remind myself that its worth it and that God already has this figured out and I just gotta roll with the punches!

@tequiero21: I just thought, because of that Harmony test, when do they finally tell you the gender?
@gingerbebe: I've tried figuring out the gender also, and no clue, but I can't wait to find out!
pomelo / 5607 posts
@gingerbebe: OMG I don't even want to talk about the peeing. I have a VERY small bladder to begin with, and now baby is apparently right on top of it (based on online pictures of what's going on). If I drink just a normal amount, like a glass or two of water, I'm peeing *literally* every 10 minutes for the next hour. I'm starting to have to seriously control my intake if I know I'm going to be driving somewhere that's a little ways away or anything like that. I've heard that your uterus starts rising a bit soon, and gets off your bladder, so you get a reprieve before baby gets so big she's kicking it and stuff, so I'm really looking forward to that. (And if it's not true, don't tell me, because I don't want to know if this is going to be non-stop for the next 6 months!)

@Boogs: yay! Glad u had a great scan! I feel like nt scan is a good time to relax a bit and start to really believe and enjoy being pregnant!
Re: harmony test, they said 2 weeks, which is this coming Monday. But I think I will call on Friday to see if it came in. Plus, hoping they have negative results for the test. Just a lil nervous. They said they would call with bad news and they didn't call, so hoping no news is good news.
@psw27: it will come before u know it! And soon, we will be waddling around lol.
@Mrs. Jump Rope: well, I swear I think I've been feeling the baby too. When I was at the nt scan I mentioned, o, must be too early right? Cuz I swear I feel it, and she said no, it's big enough that u would. Also, I heard 2nd time moms recognize the feeling more than first time moms. And can feel it sooner. Only cuz they recognize it.
@Torchwood: I've been calling it a he. I just have a feeling it's a boy. Both my doc and the us tech both guessed boy too. We will see in the next few days if we are right.
blogger / coconut / 8306 posts
@tequiero21: exactly how big is it? "A pea pod" doesn't tell much.
I bet your doctors office would have called by now of it was bad news! Is this the test where you can find out the gender too?
honeydew / 7968 posts
@Mrs. Jump Rope: according to baby center, they are about 3.5 inches! That's huge!
Yup! The test we found out the sex! Hoping they will have an answer for me before the weekend.
blogger / coconut / 8306 posts
@tequiero21: Ahhh you'll be the first to know!!
I remember when baby center said baby was the size of a ruler. I reached into my desk, pulled one out and held it up against y belly thinking "no. way."
hostess / papaya / 10540 posts
@tequiero21: Yeah it is. Oh my goodness, you must be so excited to find out! And I'm sure it's nothing but good news, or they would have called by now.

@Boogs: Yay for a great NT scan! And exciting about the "he" comment
So my NT is next Weds and I called the RE today and asked them to have our gender envelope ready to pick up afterwards. One week from today we'll know boy or girl and I just can't wait to find out, it's killing meeeeeee.

@tequiero21: Hoping that the test comes back a-ok! That wait must be brutal.

@SweetiePie: So lucky you get to find out next week! Any hunches or hopes?

hi mamas! i had my nt today and all is good with the babe! unlike all of the acrobats previously mentioned, my baby wouldn't move enough so the dr poked and prodded a lot to try to get it to move. we also got to hear the hb for the first time-- 178! so cool. i'm actually feeling pretty good and am dreading the 3 week wait between now and my next appointment.

@tequiero21: @SweetiePie: That's so exciting! I can't wait to hear what you're having!
You guys, I feel like I'm back at the beginning of my pregnancy. Like every symptom or problem I've ever had in this pregnancy came simultaneously in some cruel end of first trimester hurrah. My nose is stuffed up, I'm mouth-breathing/panting heavily all the time, I have heartburn, plus the queasiness and the constipation are back in full force. I thought turned a corner the other week but no. I am so tired and so over feeling like garbage all the time!
In funner news, DH and I diagrammed our bedroom and we've decided on where the baby's corner is going to be and how we're going to rearrange all our master bedroom furniture. Basically, we're just going to get a crib and stick it in the corner on my side of the bed and use our long dresser for the changing pad, diapering products, and humidifier. We will get a tall trash can for diapers and a tall hamper for baby laundry to put on either side of the dresser and that will be it. I don't know if our recliner will fit in the room, but if we can, we'll stick that in the opposite corner of the room for nursing.
Also, has anyone been following @HonestToddler or @sanctibaby on Twitter? OMG they are so funny. Sanctibaby is relatively newer, but its cracking me up.

Sigh, must try to do work. I think a sleeping bag nap is in order today.

@Boogs: I have a hunch and a hope that its a girl based on some wives tales But everything with TTC and pregnancy has gone against the odds and against what I've expected/had hunches about so I wont' be shocked if its a boy.
@gksj: Oh yay! Congrats on an appointment with all good news

@gksj: Wow such a strong HB, nice!
@gingerbebe: Aww I'm so sorry, I hope all the ick passes soon!

@gksj: Congrats! I just had my NT on Tuesday and our bebe was asleep and seemed pretty annoyed and getting prodded over and over. It took a while to get the measurements. He or she kept rolling over to sleep. Our best photo is of him/her giving us their back as they slept on their side.

So exciting to hear about everyone's good appointments! My friend lent me her hospital-grade doppler, but I'm nervous to use it! My mom gave me a stern lecture about how anxious I'd feel if I couldn't find the heartbeat, but part of me wants to check in with baby one more time before we announce to more people. Any thoughts/advice for a first-time doppler user?

@psw27: @SweetiePie: @Boogs: @gingerbebe: thanks ladies! i've been a little quiet around here, waiting for our appt. but i've been keeping up with all of the posts. this is such an excited (and anxious) time! so glad i have people to share it with!
honeydew / 7463 posts
@Pancakes: My advice would be to be patient, slow and methodical. And to go into it without any expectation! My first night using it I went in knowing it would be hard to find and I might not find it and that didn't mean something was wrong. Sure enough I didn't find it, but since I had prepared myself for it I was ok! I waited a few days and tried again and found it right away.
Good luck!

@gksj: yay for another great appointment!
@gingerbebe: can I suggest a short garbage can for the diaper? Even with double the diapers, we never filled up a can because we pretty much took it out every day. Gets way too stinky. We also do laundry at least every other day. I guess with twins, really piles up. But u don't want milk stains to stay on and dry cuz they will never come out! At least I haven't figured it out lol.
pomelo / 5220 posts
@gingerbebe so sorry you are feeling terrible. I hope it passes soon -- the changes from day to day are hard to deal with huh? One day I feel great, the next I am exhausted, the next my stomach kills... sidenote: you are SO organized already - I have thought about absolutely nothing nursery or planning wise!
honeydew / 7968 posts
@Pancakes: good luck finding it! Exciting and scary, right? Start low. i think my baby is around an inch to inch and half above pubic bone. Also my baby moves around a lot, so one time, it was on the left. Next time, in middle. Sometimes heartbeat goes away, prolly turning around.
pomelo / 5607 posts
@gingerbebe: I did my first potential layout of the nursery last night! Given that we don't even actually have any furniture, it's a little premature, but I've got some ideas of what I want! Besides, it's fun!
Also, I second the recommendation for a fairly short diaper pail. You won't want to wait till a bigger one gets full, cause they're stinky no matter how well sealed they are if they've been sitting for a while.
cantaloupe / 6131 posts
@tequiero21: @Torchwood: Oooh good to know! Thanks! I think we always thought to get tall ones because we're tall and hate bending over to pick stuff up. But the stank factor is totally a good call.
@psw27: I am totally not organized, its just that I need something FUN to do while going through this misery. Also, we're trying to plan because we REALLY don't want a lot of aimless stuff cluttering up our house. Its part of why we aren't doing a dedicated nursery because it would be all this space to fill up with junk. Having a baby corner would really limit the crap we let ourselves or our relatives buy for us. I basically just want like a crib, a carseat, and then eventually a stroller and high chair. I'm open to buying/borrowing things that will keep the baby quiet (swing, bouncer, etc.) but I really don't want to start with a hoard of stuff. I still have nightmares from our wedding gifts.
@Pancakes: Definitely weigh how you'd deal with not finding a HB. But if you do try and don't find the HB, don't freak out. There's lots of reasons why. For instance, I have never found my baby's HB on the doppler, but at my NT scan, I found out my placenta was on the front of my uterus, dead center on my belly, which explained why at almost 13 weeks I'd never been able to find my baby's HB while finding MINE almost anywhere I put the doppler wand.

I've been going between a simple white Ikea crib (hello $100 crib!) or the Babyletto Skip ($300, meh), but found one at Walmart that seems right in between and would match our bedroom furniture at $200. Our bedroom furniture is walnut and midcentury-ish so I feel like this would work as well as the Skip (which has the midcentury spindle legs). It seems gender neutral too, for future chilluns if we need it. What do you think?

OMG Honest Toddler and Sanctibaby are having a toddler Twitter fight today and its HILARE.
@sanctibaby: Toddler at the park is eating sodium biscuits eloquently named “Salt-ines.”
@HonestToddler: @sanctibaby JEALOUS.
@sanctibaby: @HonestToddler Jealous of what. Your future health complications? No thanks.
@HonestToddler: @sanctibaby Sorry couldn’t hear you over your breath. All those fermented foods make it smell like a dog pooped under your tongue.
@sanctibaby: @HonestToddler Haha. Don’t worry. When all of the junk food catches up to you I’ll be sure to hold vigil.
@HonestToddler: @sanctibaby You won’t be holding anything. Not with those weak infant vegan arms.
@sanctibaby: @HonestToddler Hilarious. You are exactly the kind of person who would have benefited from delayed cord clamping. #BrainNeedsBlood
@HonestToddler: @sanctibaby At least my cord got cut
@sanctibaby: @HonestToddler what?
@HonestToddler: @sanctibaby I'm just saying. When you go down the slide, does your mom have to come with you?
@sanctibaby: @HonestToddler Burn. Clever. Especially coming from someone dumb enough to think Santa would gift Fisher Price. #NaughtyList #WalmartToys
@HonestToddler: @sanctibaby HOW DARE U BRING SANTA INTO THIS!!!!!
@HonestToddler: I'm not crying.
@HonestToddler: I need to be alone.
pomelo / 5607 posts
@gingerbebe: Looks like a good compromise to me! And that is hilarious!
honeydew / 7968 posts
@gingerbebe: yeah, really really stinky, especially when they start solids. Omg, the stank! I have a lid. U can get the one with a pedal so u can step on it to open the garbage. Also, I started using the tall kitchen white bags that have odor shield. Doesn't work that well, but much better than without haha.
Lol@twitter fight.
I think that crib is nice! And it matches your furniture? Sold!

So to the Korean moms in here, I totally brought soondae (Korean blood sausage) to work for lunch today. I'm sneaking bites of it from the container so no one sees what I'm eating but its SO GOOD. Washed down with strawberries. Pregnancy cravings are no joke.
honeydew / 7968 posts
@gingerbebe: I have never gotten into soondae! Glad it hits your cravings! U can just tell people it's Korean sausage, leave out the blood lol.
cantaloupe / 6131 posts
@tequiero21: I know but it looks foul - they'd never believe its sausage.
honeydew / 7968 posts
@gingerbebe: lol it does sorta look foul lol. I agree, prolly better to sneak and eat haha!
cantaloupe / 6131 posts
@tequiero21: Also, I have no idea if its related, but afterwards, it totally cleared out my constipation! Whatever works, I'll take it.
