    @tlcbaby: Have you had trouble working out to the same or similar level of intensity before? Part of it may be that I had to take about 3 weeks off due to nausea and a terrible cold, but man I struggled at the gym this morning. I had to go down from what I would normally do in weight and also had to do box step-ups instead of box jumps. I still got a great workout and worked hard, but I'm wondering if it's just first trimester funk or if it'll always be like this. My husband who works out with me encourages me to do what feels comfortable but doesn't get that it seems impossible to push myself like I did before.

    Also since I haven't told many people at all about the pregnancy yet, my husband is basically sick of getting a play by play of my body and its functions. He's super sweet about it but he's clearly like, okay we don't need to analyze every twinge and nauseated feeling you have. BUT WE DO.

    @mrsjd: Totally normal. My heart rate and breathing get out of control much easier right now because of the increased blood volume so you can definitely feel tired and out of breath quicker than you are used to. I have already slowed down! That being said, things tend to even out in the second trimester and your energy comes back so you might start to feel like yourself again in workouts. That is what happened to me last time.

    @mrsjd: One other question - are you doing The Open?

  5. mrsjd

    clementine / 777 posts

    @tlcbaby: Thanks so much! That's great to know. That's exactly what it feels like - the inability to keep my heartrate at the manageable level I would otherwise have during a workout.

    No, I'm not. I am an average crossfitter on my best day and could never. Just trying to fit into my pants! I think it's super cool though.

    @mrsjd: I have never tried cross fit before so I'm sure I'm not at the same level as you, but I have definitely noticed getting out of breath much faster than normal. I am assuming it must be from first trimester symptoms and not just because I've been sitting around too much because I was walking 4+ miles on my due date last time and it was after a very long winter where I didn't get nearly enough exercise.

    @mrsjd: I am totally average! I will most likely be scaling all of the workouts. I just love the fun/community aspect of it. And I push myself so much harder for some reason than I do on normal days.

    How is everyone today? Any fun weekend plans?

    DS was throwing up in the middle of the night so I have a feeling we will be laying low. I can feel something coming on now so that should be lots of fun. Hope the rest of you have much better things planned!

    @skipra: no big plans. LO is becoming increasingly overwhelmed by out sings to chaotic places (so pretty much anything kid-centered) and I'm really at a loss for what to do. We both get really stir crazy staying home, but this new development makes outings not much fun and kind of a waste of money because he's ready to leave after 10 minutes.

    I'm still fighting a cold so all I want to do is lay in bed, but that's not going to happen.

    @skipra: been struggling but I feel like that's the first trimester story for me. 12 weeks today. NT scan on Monday. No plans this weekend so we'll take it nice and easy! I also decided to post my blump shot:

    I ran my 5k today! I felt decent until a half mile to the end, but I pushed through. My friend took this picture of me and I just want to know when I got so wide all of a sudden.

    @skipra: @MrsKoala: Thank you both so much!

    Hoping everyone is feeling well this weekend. I started having some stronger-than-usual cramps/pains on Thursday night and I'm just keeping a close eye on it. So far, seems better today. We had a horrible rain storm on Wednesday night and a downspout from our gutter came off, allowing a ton of water to pool and make its way in Dealing with the cleanup and insurance and contractors (extensive water damage) has been stressful so I am hoping the pains stem from that.

    @avivoca: congrats on the 5k! That's awesome!

    @Periwinkle: could it just be round ligament pain? I've been feeling it a lot.

  14. avivoca

    watermelon / 14467 posts

    @Periwinkle: I think maybe it's round ligament pain coupled with the stress you are under. That sounds terrible! I hope everything gets lined out quickly.

    @MrsKoala: Thanks! It was chilly but fun.

    @skipra: We are in the same boat. A was throwing up Thirsday and Friday and still seems off today. We really wanted to get out and enjoy the nice weather. I don't know if he gave me what he had or I am just feeling first trimester ickiness this afternoon, but I've been in bed all afternoon.

    @avivoca: Congrats on the race!!!

    @mrsjd: I did 16.1 today scaled and it was rough. I felt like I kept such a slow pace, but I was still dying through the whole thing. My morning sickness has been really bad this afternoon. Not sure if it's related, but it's not fun.

    @tlcbaby: uh oh. I was feeling off yesterday but attributed it to lack of sleep the previous night. Today stomach flu hit both DH and me at the same exact time, right when nap time ended. It has been an awesome afternoon. I am debating whether or not to drive myself to the ER for fluids. I hope you fare better than us!

    I have been feeling so much better, not 100%, but better. Which is good because I have a huge project next week and will be working late every day. But it's also totally terrifying me. I was so sick for so long with lo1 I am worried because I am feeling a bit better earlier it means something has gone wrong. Two weeks until my next appointment.... I'll try to stay calm.

  18. Periwinkle

    @MrsKoala: @avivoca: I am hoping you're right re round ligament pain. For some reason, I don't remember that starting until much later last time around (????) but who knows. It was a bit better today and I'll try some stretching tomorrow to see if that helps.

    And @avivoca: congrats on your run! I'm impressed with all of you ladies who are getting some great exercise in! Hope it was fun too

    @skipra: oh my goodness, I hope you're feeling better tonight. What an awful feeling- did you decide to go to the ER?

  20. skipra

    pomegranate / 3350 posts

    @Periwinkle: Right now I am not planning to but I feel really dehydrated and last time threw up a tiny bit of blood so if that happens again I might. DH is faring slightly better but LO2 just got up with it now and I don't want to leave him home alone with a sick baby. I took my B6 and Unisom around 10:30 and so far so good. Hoping I can start to drink some water soon.

    @skipra: You poor thng! And I know you're also worried about the rest of your family. Hope the night got easier for all and that you could drink and hold down some water eventually. And hopefully, this is a quick bug and will be gone soon.

    We had our NT scan today and all looked good. Now we wait for the results with the blood test and see what our odds are and go from there. I'm feeling optimistic!

    @MrsKoala: Yay! So glad the scan looked good! I know you're planning to be TG but do you have any guesses on the sex?

    @Periwinkle: @Applesandbananas: @MrsKoala: Thanks! We are finally on the mend! Of course I was scheduled to work at LO's school this morning and no one could cover for me last minute so that was super fun but at least DH worked from home so I didn't have to bring LO2. He definitely needed an extra day to recover, poor baby!

    I have an appt tomorrow, just Doppler and a check up I think. I'll be 12w on Wednesday, so fx they find the hb on Doppler.

    @skipra: I have no feeling about it! DH has a girl feeling. The baby looked just like LO so maybe boy? No idea! I love the suspense. So glad to hear that you guys are feeling better!

    @Applesandbananas: good luck today! I hope it's not too early to hear the HB!!!

    @MrsKoala: that's great! I love the suspense too! And sorry, meant to say your bump looks cute!

    @avivoca: Congrats on the 5k!

  31. Applesandbananas

    pomegranate / 3845 posts

    @Periwinkle: @skipra: thanks, me too! I think we heard it at 10w with LO, but I can't really remember for sure. I had my first ultrasound at 6w, so my next appt would've been right around 10w.

    @skipra: Thanks!

    I had a MW appointment this morning as well. Heard the heartbeat and finally (!) got a prescription for Diclegis and if it doesn't work, then it's on to Zofran. I lost 7 lbs in 4 weeks and it's not getting any better so hopefully the meds work!

  33. Applesandbananas

    Heartbeat was 176! The dr joked that she thinks there's a in there! I kinda hope so

  34. skipra

    pomegranate / 3350 posts

    @Applesandbananas: yay!!! So exciting! Only 3 more weeks until you find out?

    @MrsKoala: great news about hearing HB today! That's crazy you've lost so much. I hope either diclegis or Zofran works for you and seriously, it's almost 2nd trimester so time for it to just disappear already

  35. Applesandbananas

    pomegranate / 3845 posts

    @skipra: I think so! I think the elective u/s office will let you find out at 15w!

  36. tlcbaby

    @MrsKoala: great news on the scan!

    My sickness has taken a turn for the worse. It's more that the crazy indigestion is causing me to be nauseous so I am trying Reglan today. I was in bed most of the weekend and had to leave work today. It's been hard to eat or drink so I really hope this helps.

    Need advice! I'm kind of freaked out right now because I had my bloodwork come back from my doctor and I have low iron and low platelets. I'm not worried about the iron, she put me on a prescription supplement and my iron has always been borderline. But I am concerned about the platelet count. Has anyone else dealt with this?

  38. MrsKoala

    cantaloupe / 6869 posts

    @tlcbaby: I'm sorry! I hope you feel better. I know how bad it is when you feel that sick.

    @mrsjd: I haven't had low platelets in pregnancy but I have pre-pregnancy when I went through a period of severe anemia. I never found out why it happened but from what I was told is that it's usually a complication from anemia that happens. When you rebuild your iron stores, it should spark more platelet production or at least that was my understanding. It took about 3 months of heavy duty iron supplements to get mine back to normal. Is your doctor going to do more tests or do they think it will improve when your iron levels improve?

    @tlcbaby: it is miserable to feel so sick. I was hoping that I had gotten over the worst of it but after the stomach bug I can't even function by afternoon again. So ready for relief.

    @mrsjd: that sounds scary but I have no idea. I hope extra iron will fix everything.

    Is it too early for Braxton Hicks? I was doing dishes and started feeling terrible and the upper portion of my belly was kind of protruding and hard. I sat down and it seems fine. Maybe because I'm still trying to get back to normal and not fully hydrated?

    How is everyone? I have my first MW or OB appointment tomorrow morning followed by the NT scan on Monday morning. Question for you all: I will be 12 weeks exactly tomorrow. Should I pass on checking the heartbeat with the Doppler in case it is too early? I don't remember when I heard it the first time with my second but it was around 14 weeks with my first. I don't want to stress out all weekend if they can't find it.
