@Mrsbells: I kind of dread brushing my teeth. Some mornings I end up dry heaving. Ugh!

@katsupgirl: I know the feeling! dry heaving is a daily thing for me when I brush.

@mrsjd: Last pregnancy, I didn't even try on maternity clothes until close to 20 weeks or so. Even though I was growing, it was on a smaller scale and most of my regular clothes fit me for a while. So don't let that worry you! I'm 15 weeks today (what?!) and only just starting to transition my pants over. Everything else fits decently so far.

@mrsjd: just lurking from the August group, but I wanted to add to the reassurance -- I'm 21 weeks and finally noticeably showing. I didn't tell some of my team at work until 20 weeks and they were totally surprised I'm pregnant. I had the same worries about growth, but at my anatomy scan he measured in the 87th percentile! So don't worry at all -- but I know hearing, "you're so small!" from other people can make you anxious even though I'm sure they mean well

Question for the 2nd time moms! Do you use the snoogle, does it "break in" eventually? I bought the snoogle so I could get used to it but it seems so firm for me. I'm 5'2. I feel like it made my hips hurt because my head and hips were up high but the center of my body sunk down. I ordered the mini snoogle to try that out. Maybe that will work better for me.

    pear / 1879 posts

@Christy412: I had difficulties with the Snoogle for the same reasons and wound up going with a Boppy version because it fit me better. Also, I was able to get comfy maneuvering a bunch of regular pillows on my own at times.

@Periwinkle: Thanks! I'll have to try it out for a few more days then make a decision!

@Christy412: I only used the Boppy but not for long because DH stole it.

@Christy412: I had a body pillow that I bought but it actually made my hips hurt more. I ditched it and just tried to deal with it and it felt fine after a week. I really miss sleeping on my stomach, though! Hope the Snoogle ends up working for you!

I used one of those cheep knock-off Boppy's to cradle my belly and put a regular bed pillow between my legs. I'll probably use my regular Boppy this time and buy a new pillow for it later if it flattens out. I need a new sleeping pillow so I will pick one up this weekend and put my current pillow between my legs.

Just checking in to see how everyone is feeling today? I'm not sure if I should be blaming it on pregnancy, but I am just so, so exhausted. It's been a very stressful work with some major changes in my work structure and even though I have so much work to get done by the end of the day, I cannot focus on anything! I feel sleepy and huge all of a sudden and I keep needing the restroom (at least I'm drinking enough water today?!) and just want to take a nap.

OK, that's my rant for the afternoon. I hope everyone is feeling more productive/better than me for the time being!

@Periwinkle: Well, I fell asleep on the floor in H's room (ouch) for 40 minutes, so yeah, I'm exhausted too. And sore from sleeping on the floor.

I hit the wall around 4pm most days. Since I teach I'm usually home by then but I find it hard to pay attention to my DD. I was blaming it on the job which is exhausting. I'm doing better than the 1st trimester where I was literally dozing off and ready to go to bed at like 6pm.

Today was a good day for me, I saw my OB and got to hear the heartbeat which is always great. Feeling a lot less tired now

@avivoca: ugh your poor back! Hope you got some good rest though

@katsupgirl: 6pm sounded perfect tonight!!!! Too bad no one else was tired then

@Mrsbells: So happy you had a good appointment and got to hear the heartbeat!

  18. avivoca

    watermelon / 14467 posts

@Periwinkle: I did! I felt like a million bucks for about 30 minutes before I went to bed. I think it's time for a big girl bed so I can snuggle up on her mattress with her.

  19. skipra

    pomegranate / 3350 posts

@Christy412: I just use a regular pillow between my legs when I get uncomfortable. We have a body pillow but it's just too big.

@Periwinkle: I am pretty good today! And actually awake past 9pm...crazy. The best part of SAH is I normally get a break or nap during naptime (but not today, ugh!). I guess it was a really good day that I'm still functioning.

I did get slightly annoyed today at one of my friends. We hadn't talked in a while so I finally told her today and she basically said congrats, hope it's a girl. This is the common reaction since I have 2 boys but it makes me crazy and defensive over my boys. Is something wrong with me that I really do not care if it's a girl or is it kind of a rude thing to say?

  20. MrsKoala

    cantaloupe / 6869 posts

@skipra: that is really rude to say. I'd be totally annoyed if I were you. Basically, the comment implies that a boy wouldn't be good enough to complete your family or that a girl somehow is worthier. That kind of crap grinds my gears.

  21. avivoca

    watermelon / 14467 posts

@skipra: That was kind of rude of your friend to say. People can be dumb.

  22. Periwinkle

    pear / 1879 posts

@skipra: Agreed that it's rude. I'm amazed at the things that people just say. I'm sure it wasn't meant with any harm but I don't think people (especially those who are not pregnant) always get the implications of their comments.

I am getting a lot of similar comments when I tell people we are expecting another boy. Everyone guesses girl before I tell them- in fact, not one person has guessed boy! One of my coworkers (who is a bit dramatic, mind you) said, after I told him we are having another boy, "ohhhhhhh (insert pouty face), I wanted a girl!" Um, not your child and... thanks? I just don't get it but it seems like many people expect the second baby to be the opposite sex of the first. But the comments, however benign, are just really annoying.

  23. skipra

    pomegranate / 3350 posts

@MrsKoala: @avivoca: @Periwinkle: thank you! I did really need to hear that because I wasn't sure if I am just being crazy hormonal. I complained about it to DH and my mom and they understand and my mom said everyone she tells has some comment about it too. But she is 100% with us and tells everyone to expect another boy. DH actually was annoyed with me saying I thought it was a boy thinking I dont want a girl but it's really just a defensive thing, making a point that I am totally excited to have three boys. Now he understands and i think being a guy no one makes those comments to him. OK vent over!

Hope everyone is having a great weekend! What are you all up to? My mom is here to babysit and DH are going out for lunch. Yay!

@skipra: That sounds so nice! T is leaving for a week-long work trip, so not much happening. BUT... I did get my hair cut, which I desparately needed! Other than that, I really, really need to clean my filthy house and finish a quilt project.

  25. Periwinkle

    pear / 1879 posts

@skipra: Enjoy your afternoon out! It's nice to have a "day date" as we call them- I almost prefer that to going out at night

@avivoca: I hear you on the cleaning. I hope it doesn't take too long and that you can enjoy your quilting. Would love to see your projects! I'm envious of those creative enough to to quilt/craft!

It's lousy weather here (rainy and cold) so nothing major going on. Was supposed to meet my friend in the city today sans children but the forecast scared us off. Plan now is for dinner out with friends and their children tonight (hibachi!) and I sadly have to catch up on some work this afternoon from home. Very exciting, I know.

@Periwinkle: I have a public IG account if you want to see what I'm up to. It's avivocasews (hope this is okay Mr. Bee, it's just pics of my crafts and I don't sell anything).

  29. katsupgirl

    nectarine / 2280 posts

@skipra: nice! I don't think I've ever had one of those.

@Periwinkle: @avivoca: it's rainy and cold here too so all I want to do is take a nap. I do gve work to do and I should do some cleaning but napping seems way more appealing.

  30. Periwinkle

    pear / 1879 posts

@katsupgirl: So when I said "work" before, clearly my body interpreted that as "nap" instead I tried to get out of the house for a bit to work but it's just so cold. And I made the mistake of lying down for "just a minute" after LO went down for a nap. Guess where I still am now (1 hour later)?

  31. katsupgirl

    nectarine / 2280 posts

@Periwinkle: Body knows best! That just for a minute thing happens to me a lot lately. Takes a lot of energy to grow a person.

  32. Periwinkle

    pear / 1879 posts

@katsupgirl: Seriously! I have had a bit of a cold this week too and I had no idea how much I needed the rest. I got to sleep in a bit this morning (thank you to my husband!) and still needed to lie down for an hour before lunch. Finally now getting my work done. It's just hard to give in to our body's needs when we push ourselves most of the time.

Anyone else finding themselves getting really emotional and weepy over pretty much nothing? I'm having a lot of trouble regulating myself and the littlest things are just weighing me down.

  34. avivoca

    watermelon / 14467 posts

@MrsKoala: Yup. I'm pretty much a faucet. I broke down sobbing at work a few weeks ago because my boss told me I shouldn't let the big boss see me making breakfast in the break room.

  35. skipra

@MrsKoala: yep. A little girl started crying at swim lessons today. Don't know her, her mom was right there, she wasn't hurt...but cue the water works for me!

I got my results from the serial sequential screening today and they said they were negative for downs and the trisomies, so good news!

  36. Periwinkle

@MrsKoala: Absolutely! Sometimes I feel like nothing can shake me but then, out of the blue, the smallest thing will send me down the road to hysterical-land. It's just so random and hard to prevent. I have also been throwing myself some epic pity parties lately. Ones that my common sense can't even touch or reason with.

  37. Periwinkle

@Periwinkle: Thanks! I was having a hard time connecting with the pregnancy and I think part of it was just waiting to make sure the baby is healthy. It is finally starting to feel real!
