September 2016 moms!

@Mrsbells: Yay for team blue! That is wonderful. Boys are so sweet and they sure do love their mama.

@skipra: That's so fun to get to share this time with a friend.

Does anyone else feel like they've hit the "golden" part of the second trimester? I feel really good and have more energy generally. Also pregnancy hair is amazing. I used to have to wash it like every day and now I can go 3 days. It's glorious.

Only downside is I still can't manage to find comfortable work maternity pants and I'm squeezing into regular ones with some difficulty. Like, I'm dying towards the end of the day. Seriously why are maternity pants so LOW?

@mrsjd: I feel you on the maternity pants. I hate them so much, but it's getting harder to squeeze into my normal pants even with the band. My hair is starting to look better. It was getting pretty lank there for awhile and I was feeling a bit down on it, but it's fluffed right back up with the warm weather.

@avivoca: I've been fighting the good fight but it's for sure time to transition in the next week or two. I'll be 20 weeks Friday so I'm frankly astonished I've made it this long. It's mostly because I had a few pants that were too big to begin with from before I lost weight two years ago. My pencil skirts have LONG stop fitting.

@mrsjd: What I hate about maternity pants is that they are clearly made for that third tri belly not the first or the second. So it takes forever to fit into them correctly and then you wear them for like five weeks and they fit perfectly and then boom, you're too big for them and they feel too small. It's frustrating!

  6. mrsjd

@MrsKoala: YES! This perfectly describes my feelings. I live in Louisiana and it's practically tropical so I'll probably rely almost totally on dresses.

@mrsjd: I am definitely hitting the honeymoon phase with my sickness...finally! Now I am having major back pain. My pelvis does not like being pregnant.

    pomegranate / 3350 posts

@mrsjd: getting there bit not quite golden yet! I am still really tired a lot and super nauseous without that damn Unisom. At least I can manage with a 1/4 at this point.
And yes I hate maternity pants! I feel like my bump is higher this time so I still have 1 pair of regular jeans I can wear. Mostly I wear 1 pair of Old Navy jeans that have little panels at the pockets and sweatpants or legging.
@tlcbaby: my lower back gets sore easily too. Same exact spot as with my other pregnancies so I guess it's normal but not fun!

Anyone dealing with breakouts? Aside from the very very beginning my skin was fine when I was pregnant before but I've been losing the battle against acne this entire pregnancy! I've even gotten out my Clarisonic that I hadn't used in ages. I feel like a teenager!

    nectarine / 2750 posts

@skipra: I've definitely been having more breakouts than normal, but they seem to be calming back down.

I am starting physical therapy so I don't spend the next twenty weeks limping everywhere I go.

So many boys! @mrsjd: not quite golden but I definitely have more energy and have moments where I feel more like myself. I still feel kinda crappy and uncomfortable but that may just be a job thing.
I'm not terribly fashionable and live in long skirts. No pants. I was lucky winter was relatively mild. Looking forward to flowy dresses in the summer

    @skipra:

So, I jinxed myself yesterday. I had what I believe were Braxton-Hicks yesterday. Tightening/cramping. My uterus got real hard, no pain though. When it happened twice in an hour I called my doctor in a panic. They told me to drink a bunch of water and pee constantly and to go to the hospital if it started happening 5x an hour. It subsided and I rested last night. No exercise for the next week or so. I believe I just got dehydrated unknowingly. Scary but everything appears to be fine. I felt her move last night and this morning, so that is reassuring. Prayers for a good ultrasound this afternoon!

@mrsjd: Braxton-Hicks suck! Keep yourself as hydrated as you can! Hope your appointment goes well today!

@mrsjd: I had a few the other day and I had to mainline water. I went for a walk to the mailbox (it's half a mile from my office) to drop something off, it was hot, and I hadn't had much to drink. It scared me. I've definitely been working on keeping up with my water intake.

  14. tlcbaby

    nectarine / 2750 posts

@mrsjd: Glad everything is okay! Scary, though. I thought I was having some (I didn't have them last time), but now I think maybe it was just the baby? I'm still not sure, but it doesn't sound like what you described.

  15. katsupgirl

    nectarine / 2280 posts

@mrsjd: I've been having the same tightening feeling. I figured it might be dehydration. I just can't seem to drink enough water at work. I get distracted plus I'm paranoid about having to pee all the time.

I had my anatomy scan today. Not so chatty tech and I totally didn't even get a picture.

The doctor also moved my due date to 8/25 because I'm measuring big. I'm not really buying it though and will double check with my midwives. I was measuring big with DD so I think I just grow big babies.

@katsupgirl: That sucks! I would have asked for a picture!

    clementine / 777 posts

@katsupgirl: Glad everything looked good but BOO for no picture.

I had my anatomy scan yesterday. It took forever because baby girl didn't want to cooperate but we got most of the measurements and everything looks good so far. We are going to get another ultrasound at 24 weeks to get the final measurements needed.

ETA: They estimated she weighs 13oz! Which seems crazy to me, but is great. Makes me feel better about my massive appetite.

  19. MrsKoala

    cantaloupe / 6869 posts

@katsupgirl: Awww man! That sucks that you didn't get a picture and that the tech wasn't friendly. How big was your last baby? I'm curious because I also grow big babies.

@mrsjd: Glad it went well! It's a bummer they didn't get everything they needed but at least you get to see baby girl again in another 4 weeks!

HALFWAY THERE AS OF TOMORROW! YES!

@MrsKoala: yay! I'll be halfway as of next week

Are you all starting to feel kicks more consistently? The baby has been kicking a lot in the past few days. Its so great to feel it. i know for those of you on your first pregnancy you might not be feelinh the kicks yet.

  21. katsupgirl

    nectarine / 2280 posts

@Christy412: @mrsjd: I was so distracted from waiting there so long that I didn't think of asking. The tech didn't see to get any clear pics anyway. I do have a pic from an earlier ultrasound though. I just had a really good one for DD and wanted to compare.

@MrsKoala: She was 9lbs 2oz. She also had a big head. Blame her dad!
@Mrsbells: lots of consistent movement but I prefer the real solid kicks instead of the flutter. Those make me queasy.

  22. Mrsbells

    squash / 13199 posts

@katsupgirl: yeah I know what you mean. I was having the flutters until this past week but more I have more consistent kicks which I prefer!

  23. maddyz

@Mrsbells: I have been surprised by how long I have felt baby. DH even felt kicks the other day. Must just be placement and second baby stuff. This one is also a crazy wiggler.

@MrsKoala: My first was also big, 9 pounds and 22" long, I get a little worried about this one. But also trust that my body will make a baby I can handle.

  24. Mrsbells

    squash / 13199 posts

@maddyz: yeah I am on the same page as you. I feel a lot more with this baby then I did with baby#1

  25. MrsKoala

    cantaloupe / 6869 posts

@maddyz: @katsupgirl: ok so we're all in the same boat. DS was 9 lbs 5 oz. OB said at the anatomy scan that this LO is 40th percentile right but I wonder if that is because I have been so sick this time around and that baby will catch up. OB said maybe I'll get lucky and this will be a small 8 lb baby. Made me laugh that she considered that small for me!

@Mrsbells: oh yes. I'm getting tons of kicks now and definitely feeling it more this time around. I think's it's because I have a posterior placenta this time instead of anterior! It's amazing what a difference it makes.

  26. avivoca

    watermelon / 14467 posts

@Mrsbells: I am feeling much more this time around, and it's a lot higher than last time too. I'm carrying so much higher this time.

It's so nice that we are talking about kicks and not being sick! Crazy we are all about half way.

  30. katsupgirl

    nectarine / 2280 posts

@avivoca: I'm the opposite and carrying lower which is driving me nuts. I think I prefer higher. @MrsKoala: @maddyz: woo hoo big baby club!

@Mrsbells: I'm looking forward to kicks I can feel and see on the outside. I used to amuse myself at work by watching my belly move. Good times!

  31. skipra

    pomegranate / 3350 posts

@katsupgirl: That is annoying about the pictures and really weird that they would move your due date at this stage in the game. I thought it wasn't really accurate for dating past the first trimester. Hopefully it does not mean they will induce you too early

I feel like I am getting less movement with this baby! I sometimes feel some kicks but mostly it still feels a lot like bubbles. I'll find out Wednesday but my suspicion is anterior placenta. They couldn't tell yet at the NT scan - said it could go either way.

Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend! The in-laws just left, hooray! I was dreading their visit. Super annoyed that MIL wants to skip our b-day party for LO2 and instead wants to intrude on our family day out. I told her no, it's just the 4 of us that day but we wish she would come to the party and she just said, "we'll see." How horrible that we are inviting her to celebrate her grandson's birthday at our house.

  32. katsupgirl

    nectarine / 2280 posts

@skipra: yeah I didn't have my first ultrasound till the second trimester plus I measured big with the last one. That doctor is just for the ultrasounds and blood work so I will check with my midwives. They didn't seem to be concerned that I was measuring a week or two ahead.

Crazy about your MIL! Some people just like being contrary or doing things their way. It's like a power thing.

  33. MrsKoala

    cantaloupe / 6869 posts

@skipra: Glad that you made it through the visit. Your MIL sounds like a piece of work.

So we never announced on social media or anything. Mostly because we're kind of private but also because I'm still sick and I haven't wanted to talk much about this baby because of it. Well, my dad posted on Facebook for me last night and told the world. ARGH. I feel so annoyed about it. I get that he is excited but it's really frustrating when people do that stuff without even asking you first.

  34. avivoca

    watermelon / 14467 posts

@MrsKoala: Duuude, I would be so pissed. Last time I harassed my SIL until she removed a post on her wall with H's name on it (spelled wrong, mind you) and cried over the phone with my husband so he would call her and harass her about it.

  35. MrsKoala

    cantaloupe / 6869 posts

@avivoca: My dad posted pictures of my son's birth before we even announced it (my siblings emailed them to him so he could see since he lives half the world away) so this isn't the first time. I'm trying not to flip out on him right now because I definitely yelled at him last time.

  36. avivoca

    watermelon / 14467 posts

@MrsKoala: Oh HELL NO. That is so uncool.

  37. MrsKoala

    cantaloupe / 6869 posts

@avivoca: Oh yeah. I was LIVID and forced him to take it down. I just don't understand why he feels the need to do this? Social media sucks.

  38. mrsjd

    clementine / 777 posts

@MrsKoala: OH man, I would be livid. I counseled my family that we were not planning to announce it ever on social media and fortunately they've complied. I'm so sorry you're having to deal with the anxiety of that. His excitement doesn't make up for not respecting your wishes.

  39. skipra

    pomegranate / 3350 posts

@MrsKoala: ugh I am so sorry! Some people just have no clue about social media and respecting others' privacy. And it's not even like it would help if you weren't on it - it would just be more difficult for you to monitor. Social media destroyed our relationship with SIL (and hence my relationship with MIL) and it just sucks. Likes there needs to be a checklist before you post something that asks, are you sure you are not being an asshole for posting this? Sorry. I feel for you!

  40. Mrsbells

    squash / 13199 posts

@MrsKoala: that would drive me absolutely nuts! I am also very private and havent announced on social media. I think now that you know what he is capable of you have to specifically tell him not to post things on your behalf! The thought of someone doing that to me just infuriates me!
