@MrsKoala: I just don't get why people want to share other people's news. Post your own stuff or at least ask me first before posting about what's happening in my life. So frustrating!

I posted this in October, but I miss deli meat. It's so hot here and all I want is a nice, cool turkey and cheese sandwich. Instead I had to cook an egg for an egg sandwich. I'm going to pick up some hummus, feta, tomatoes, and lettuce for a nice garden sandwich on these hot nights.

@avivoca: I posted this on the thread bitching about my MIL visiting so maybe you've already seen it. I made these and they were yummy and really refreshing http://www.thekitchn.com/recipe-mediterranean-chickpea-and-feta-wraps-228384
Sorry, can't commiserate with the deli meat or heat thing. It's going to be like a high of 45 here tomorrow!

@skipra: Oh My Gosh, nowI'm starving! I think I will make those next week when I go to the store. 45F, holy cow! I love living in the south. The high for tomorrow is 82!

Also, our AC is going to be out at work for the rest of the week and it's going to be in the 80s both inside and out.

I bought my first piece of toddler gear! I managed to snag a Land of Nod Jenny Lind bed on Craigslist for $100!!!! Now all we need to do is start her big girl room (mattress, sheets, possibly cleaning out our office) so baby can have the crib.

@skipra: Haha I was thinking the same thing as you when I read hot nights, I was like, man, I want that. Silly Northeast! We're headed up your way this weekend for a baseball game and I'm so annoyed that the temps decided to nosedive!

@avivoca: What a score! $100 is so cheap!

@skipra: AH! 45 degrees. It's a high of 81 here today but will feel like 90. Humidity is starting to kick up. Not looking forward to the dog days. Downside of living somewhere basically tropical (Nola). It's gorgeous, but bad when I'm sweating walking my pups at 7:00am.

    @avivoca: That is great!

Yup - it's 39 degrees right now. It's funny because we had a couple nice days and my friends and I were debating whether or not to keep our LO's enrolled in some indoor activities or take advantage of the "nice" spring weather...haha!
@MrsKoala: Well at least this weekend should be sunny (hopefully!) but you will be cold for the game. That stinks! I'm sure you'll have fun anyway!
@avivoca: That is an amazing deal! And omg enough with your office construction already. I am seriously annoyed for you. I hope they finish it so you can at least be comfortable soon.
@mrsjd: That just sounds so hot. We get a few 90+ days over the summer but I can't imagine it being like that for the majority of the pregnancy. Although today I would certainly swap with you

@avivoca: I really miss deli meat too. I normally love to build myself yummy sandwiches with a nice selection of meats. Now I'm doing lots of egg sandwiches too! Not the same thing at all

Had the anatomy scan today and everything looks great! We have to decide whether or not to do a fetal echo cardiogram because we have a lot of heart issues on my side. The heart looked good but I guess they don't get as much detail. We weren't offered this option with my other 2 so not sure what to do. The doctor was in no way pushing for it but said would could if we want to. Anyone have experience with anything similar?

  12. MrsKoala

    cantaloupe / 6869 posts

@avivoca: Oh Lord. I'm so sorry about all the construction. It looks like a mess.

  13. MrsKoala

    cantaloupe / 6869 posts

@skipra: Glad all looked good at the anatomy scan. I'd probably skip the echocardiogram just because it doesn't seem completely necessary and would cost $$ I'm guessing. But my family doesn't have heart issues so there's that.

@MrsKoala: Thanks. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel at least. I think we have one more move before we land in our final office, so hopefully that one at least has floors instead of weird patchy subfloor and questionable tile.

@skipra: Could you elect for a level-2 ultrasound? The detail will be a lot better and they might be able to see more. I wouldn't go for the echo unless there were some things that didn't look quite right on the ultrasound, but again, I don't have heart issues in my family (that we know about anyway).

I'm jelly of you ladies and your anatomy scans! I have mine in two weeks.

  15. skipra

    pomegranate / 3350 posts

@MrsKoala: I might check with insurance. I just wonder if it will give me peace of mind if we do it. I do not have any known heart issues so the doctor said with the good ultrasound it is unlikely there is anything wrong.

@avivoca: I will ask about a level 2 ultrasound but I think that's what they did because it was with MFM and there were a couple other potential issues they were looking for too.

Oh and I forgot to mention we are still team green! I thought I might have caught a glimpse of a penis while looking at the legs but then later saw absolutely nothing when she had a potty shot up for a second. So who knows but still guessing boy!

Hi all! It's been so long and I wanted to check in and say hi! I definitely want to catch up and I've enjoyed reading what's going on for you all this week.

@skipra: Wonderful news that the anatomy scan went well! Interesting about the echocardiogram and that this was not offered/mentioned in your other pregnancies. My guess is that insurance would cover it if the doctor feels it's in your best interest but I'm not familiar enough with the process. I'm so happy that everything looks good so far though.

  17. skipra

    pomegranate / 3350 posts

@Periwinkle: I'm seeing a completely different practice at a different hospital this time around plus since my last pregnancy my sister was diagnosed with something. But after talking to her this afternoon for clarification, it is nothing big and doesn't happen until after birth anyway. I think we are going to pass but will discuss further at my next appointment.

@skipra: Oh phew, that's a huge relief! It's so hard to know which additional tests we should do, especially when the doctors are not set one way or another or are not pushing something. Also glad to hear that your sister is ok too

@avivoca: Thanks! We've known since our NIPT at around 14/15 weeks. I find the idea of having a girl mildly terrifying (so much responsibility and so tough to be a girl), but I'm pumped.

How is everyone doing? Any fun plans for the weekend?

Also wondering, has anyone started on or have any plans for the nursery? We still have LO2 in it but I am starting to think about it! Would love to hear all your ideas. Right now it is kind of nautical theme with dark blue walls. I'm trying to figure out if we can keep it neutral without painting or if we just wait to do anything until we after he/she arrives.

@skipra: Right now we are trying to decide if the kids will share a room or if we will move H to our third bedroom and somehow relocate our office all over the house. Both T and I have hobbies that take up quite a bit of space (I sew, he's a biologist and collects insects), so I don't know where in our 1100 sq. ft. house we will make this work. If they share, I kind of want to repaint and rearrange the room so that nobody is on an outside wall. We also may move them to the office, which has two windows and relocate the office to H's current room. It's an odd shape.

I'm also dreading the 4-hour drive to pick up my carseat and am thinking that I might just buy a new one so I don't have to deal with it (it's at my MIL's house and she smokes like a chimney on a winter's night).

@skipra: We are in a two bedroom so I've been thinking about the best way to get two cribs in their room and not loose all the playing space.

Otherwise things are mostly staying the same in there. Maybe adding some shelves. We just added shelves to the closet and that's been amazing! It's so nice not to have a huge pile of things in there. Small spaces are so tricky! We have been in our apartment for 10 months and I still feel like I am moving in.

I have my anatomy scan on wednesday... I am so nervous.

@maddyz: Good luck on Wednesday! Hope you can keep busy until then so you don't stress too much.

I hear ya on the small spaces. Our old condo was tiny and we could barely even fit furniture for LO1 in our second bedroom. We ended up building in a changing table in the closet because there was no way to fit one in the room.

@avivoca: Hmm that is tricky too. I know it would drive us crazy to have all that stuff in our living area, so I'd probably have the kids share too. Does you DD have an opinion?

  34. tlcbaby

    nectarine / 2750 posts

@skipra: Yea on the anatomy scan! I don't know anything about the echocardiograms, but I like @avivoca 's idea about another u/s before doing anything else. I felt like they could see quite a bit of heart detail even on the regular u/s.

    @lmay820: Congrats on a girl!

@skipra: Since the baby will hardly be in the nursery, we are keeping the nursery the same and spending the money/work on moving our son into a big boy room. It is going to be a superhero room and I am so excited!

  35. tlcbaby

    nectarine / 2750 posts

We had our anatomy scan yesterday and everything looked great. The detail was way better than with our first...maybe the baby was just in a better position. We could see all the little fingers and the spine and everything. It was really awesome. DH said he was looking for the "parts", but didn't see anything so we are sticking with team green!

  36. avivoca

@skipra: She's two, so I'm not giving her an option other than maybe asking if she wants to switch rooms. I shared with my sister for 10 years and they will be fine, but my husband doesn't think it's fair to make them share. We will probably make them share until we can sell this house and get something bigger.

@avivoca: I think room sharing is great. I shared all the way through collage... and yeah, it got old. But for kids I think it's comforting to sleep near someone else and you can put both kids to sleep at the same time easily.

  40. katsupgirl

    nectarine / 2280 posts

@avivoca: 4 hr drive for a potentially smoky car seat? Ugh. I'd probably buy a new one. I shared a room with my 2 sisters till I moved out. In our case the room was mostly for sleeping and we had a big age gap. I plan to have mine share for a bit even though I will have one of each.

@tlcbaby: congrats on a great scan!!

@maddyz: I hope everything is good for your scan. I shop when I need to keep my mind off an upcoming appt.

@skipra: no big plans for the weekend. I've been off all week and we've been pretty productive-- DMV trips, test driving minivans, pre-k tour, IKEA run. Oh the life of an adult!
