@MrsKoala: yay! Hope you had fun!!! I didn't see any of the game but heard it was great!

@avivoca: oh yeah I meant about which room she prefers. No way should a two year old decide whether or not she gets to share a room!

@katsupgirl: I have felt like that the past couple weeks too. I've had so many appointments and other adult things scheduled it's been crazy! Sometimes I really miss the carefree days. How has minivan shopping gone? Did you decide on one? We need to start car shopping soon too.

@skipra: We went with the Honda Odyssey. It was our top choice. It was the only one we test drove. Our second choice was the Toyota Sienna. We really like it so far. Still trying to figure out all the fancy stuff but it is sooo much more comfortable than our old Ford Escape. More room for everyone and our stuff.
I will say there are too many buttons for my 3 year old to touch. She loves it!

@skipra: @katsupgirl: I'm going to have to live vicariously through you guys on having a minivan. It's my dream Mom car but my husband is on Team SUV. We have to do something because while technically we would all fit in our Versa, there just wouldn't be room for much else, including my eventual double jogging stroller.

@avivoca: haha I am actually hoping to find something.... ANYTHING that will work for us and is not a minivan, but I know we need to at least try a few first.

@skipra: I'm liking the Ford Edge, but my true love is something with sliding doors. There have been enough times that Inhave had to try to squeeze myself and a toddler between doors and cars to load us up while trying not to hit anyone that I wish we had the doors. And I also want something that has a trunk button or the technology to open/shut the trunk with a wave of my foot (the Edge has this).

@katsupgirl: I've never understood the anti mini van thing. We rented an Odyssey for a out of town project and it was so comfortable for growth ups and we could pack SO much stuff in it. We have our eyes out for something used... But it might not happen.

@maddyz: our issue with the mini van is that I wouldn't be able to have all three in the second row which is a huge issue with them all so young. Plus not all of them have awd or 4wd and the gas mileage is pretty bad. We are leaning toward the Highlander hybrid because it solves all our issues with the mini vans and has a third row for when we have extra passengers. Plus my sister had a minivan and I hated driving that thing!

@avivoca: I agree with the sliding doors being somewhat useful and I'll admit that my experience with them is limited but I thought they always broke. I feel like the tight parking is really only a huge issue with the infant seat so I'm not too concerned but maybe it will be a bigger issue with the bigger SUV?

@skipra: the parking at the malls and at my Peds office is notoriously tight. Like, my compact car has a hard time. Plus we make several 4-hour trips to see my inlaws and would like to take the dog and all our stuff too, so I'd love the space and the doors. I also like how low vans are. We've been testing SUV's by renting them for trips and the thing that also gets me is how tall some of them are. I love the space of the Traverse but it was so hard for me to lift H into the seat (she was 1 at the time). I'm 5'5 with a decent wingspan and it was just nuts.

    nectarine / 2280 posts

@avivoca: my third choice was a Traverse but it's just like the Ford Explorer. My parents have that one and I'm not a fan.
@skipra: @maddyz: I'm a huge minivan fan. It's what I grew up with and my husband was driving one when we started dating.

I definitely appreciate how low it is. Easy for me and easy for DD to climb in and out. Having sliding doors again is such a game changer. I'm in the city and my husband is notorious for parking next to poles and trees.
I was interested in the Sienna because of AWD but then DH informed me that he didn't even have that on the Escape. We survived for years without so Hoping that continues.

@skipra: it was cold but a lot of fun! I'm a it sad that the first home run that my kid saw was by A Rod but oh well. We left at the 7th inning because LO was fading fast so we didn't get to see the good stuff but it was a really great time.

@lmay820: Congratulations on your girl! So exciting!
@maddyz: So excited for your upcoming anatomy scan!
@skipra: Absolutely no thought has gone into the nursery planning yet. We are hoping to move LO to the other room (after it's repaired-- we had some damage to our home back in February and are still dealing with our insurance company) and use the current nursery almost as-is. I would like to make some changes and maybe do some new bedding or pictures just to mix it up a bit, but don't want to spend a ton as we will be making a new room for LO.
@MrsKoala: So glad you had fun at the game even though it was chilly. I was raised a Yankees fan but married a Red Sox fanatic so am now a convert.

Hoping everyone else is going well! I started having some strange back pains this week and have been realizing the need to get some exercise. I think I found a yoga studio whose prenatal offerings will work with my schedule, so I am looking forward to starting that soon.

@Periwinkle: I was doing some light cleaning this evening and my hips and back started to hurt. That definitely made me realize I need some exercise in my life. Deep couch sitting is not helping matters. I should check out my local yoga studio.

@skipra: not to try to convince you about the minivan but I found this link and maybe they have info on any other cars you are considering:

@katsupgirl: thanks! The Odyssey is totally off our list though because of the AWD issue. DH works practically in NH and the roads are never plowed in the winter so we definitely need at least one car that is good in snow. We are still considering the Sienna and will check it out at the same time as the Highlander. My friend who is expecting her third too just got the Sienna and loves it!
@Periwinkle: I get lower back/butt pain whenever I'm pregnant. I think cat/cow stretches help some.

And LO2 gave me another cold. I can't sleep because I'm so stuffed up. Ugh!

  15. Periwinkle

    pear / 1879 posts

@katsupgirl: @skipra: I love yoga most of the time, but in pregnancy it does wonders for me. I have been trying to stretch as much as possible on my own but always feel better when in a class setting.

@skipra: I'm so sorry you have a cold. These LOs share so kindly I hope you were able to sleep a bit more after being up.

  16. MrsKoala

    cantaloupe / 6869 posts

@Periwinkle: I did the reverse. I'm a Sox fan and my husband is a Yankees fan. We're both stubborn so no changing on either of our sides. We have one important rule and that's no negativity about the other team. We can say positive stuff about our own team. Except when we talk about A Rod. We both just hate him.

I Posted this separately but I'll ask here too. Is anyone experiencing pelvic pressure/pain already? I'm 20 weeks 5 days. I actually decided to go in to see the doctor about it and waiting to be seen now.

  18. skipra

    pomegranate / 3350 posts

@Periwinkle: Thanks! And I need to find a yoga class too. It's so much harder to find one that fits in the schedule having LO's now.

@Mrsbells: No, I haven't felt that yet but I hope it's just a weird pregnancy symptom and nothing serious.

@MrsKoala: I don't know how you could marry a Yankees fan! Lol. I dated one in college and swore never to again. (Same thing with Habs fans!) DH is from CT but luckily the "right" side of the state

  19. MrsKoala

    cantaloupe / 6869 posts

@skipra: Somedays I don't know how I did it, either. 2009 was a particularly tough year because the Yankees won the Series on my freaking birthday. Luckily, we were long distance at the time so he was very gentle about it. The only problem now is figuring out what kind of fan our kids will be. So far, we've just decided to leave it up to them someday. But DH cheats and is already trying to influence LO to go to the Dark Side.

@Mrsbells: I am not, but I know it can be quite common. Definitely worth having it checked out before it gets too intense. I've had some back/hip soreness from sleeping on my side. I was previously a back sleeper, but it generally alleviates during the day when I walk around.

  21. MrsKoala

    cantaloupe / 6869 posts

@Mrsbells: No pressure here but it's a good thing you went in! It's always good to get something like that checked out just in case.

  22. Mrsbells

    squash / 13199 posts

@skipra: @mrsjd: @MrsKoala: thanks ladies. I'm glad I came in. My regular OB wasn't available so I was sent to a different person who happens to have ultrasound services included so they did both a regular and transvaginal ultrasound and everything looks great. Waiting to see the doctor to confirm it. The tech thinks it might be due to me pushing myself a bit too much this weekend

  23. avivoca

    watermelon / 14467 posts

@Mrsbells: I have had some pressure, but it went away after awhile. Usually it was because I hadn't had enough water or I'd overdone it with lifting/walking.

  24. Mrsbells

    squash / 13199 posts

@avivoca: that's exactly what the doctor told me. And i'm actually guilty of both. I didn't realize pelvic pressure could be caused by that

  25. Periwinkle

    pear / 1879 posts

@MrsKoala: My husband and I have tried to do the same thing with LO, letting him "pick" his own team. He needed a new baseball hat this year and we showed him every team's so he could pic. We thought maybe he'd even go for something like the Cubs since his name starts with a "C" but in the end, he wanted a Red Sox one just like daddy's. Since he was about 2.5, he's called the Red Sox the "Go Red Sox" so he has a new hat of his team

  26. Periwinkle

    pear / 1879 posts

@Mrsbells: I'm so glad it's nothing major but happy you went in to be seen. Always better to know what's going on than to be wondering. Such a good reminder not to push ourselves and to take "us" time when we need it. It's hard to slow down at times!

@skipra: Yes definitely! LO has gotten so heavy, I wont be picking her up anymore for now

  31. avivoca

@Mrsbells: I think we might try to move H to her big girl bed sooner rather than later because my husband won't be here to lift her into the crib this summer. She's really excited about her bed, we just need to get a mattress/box spring, sheets, etc. for it.

  32. katsupgirl

    nectarine / 2280 posts

@Mrsbells: glad you were able to get checked out and everything is okay. My little is in a "pick me up"/"carry me phase". I have to be careful how much I pick her up. We've been doing mostly back rides lately.

  33. Mrsbells

    squash / 13199 posts

@katsupgirl: Thanks! yes and my LO is a heavy thing, its easy for me to forget sometimes that she is 4! and not a baby

@avivoca: Yes definitely tranisitioning to a new bed helps a lot with not having to deal with the crib. We just took down the side of the crib and put up a guard rail

I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions... my SIL is pregnant with her first and due just a few weeks after I am. We're planning to see them this weekend on Mother's Day and I would like to give her a little something. Do you have any ideas of something (small) which might be sweet?

  39. maddyz

    persimmon / 1270 posts

@Periwinkle: Some of my favorite special little gifts are books that someone liked as a child. It's fun to talk to LO about the giver when we read the book.

  40. skipra

    pomegranate / 3350 posts

@Periwinkle: Yes, I agree with books! I remember when LO1 was a baby we only had a couple books and I wished we had more. I also loved a couple picture frames we received. They are in LO1's room with baby pictures in them.
And how exciting to have cousins that will be so close in age!
