@skipra: Awesome news!
@mrsjd: Oh no, UTI's are terrible, especially when you are pregnant! Ask your doctor for a sample of Diclegis if you can. The antibiotics the hospital provided me with made me so miserable. I was waking up in the middle of the night sick.

@mrsjd: Oh no! Hope they get you some antibiotics and you feel better quickly!

@MrsKoala: @avivoca: well the test came back negative but they're going to go ahead and give me some medicine because they think it might be in the early stages. I am not in pain when I pee I just have to go even within minutes of when I pee. Bonus though I got to hear the heartbeat again! Perfect 150!

@mrsjd: Better safe than sorry! You definitely don't want to end up in the hospital like I did.

@avivoca: Your awful experience is why I decided to go ahead and go in to have it checked out! Hate that you had to go through that.

@mrsjd: I'm so sorry you've been uncomfortable. UTIs are the worst... so glad you got something to help (even though it came back negative but def sounds like the beginning of one) and hopefully you will be feeling better soon.
And yay for hearing the heartbeat! I'm sure that was an unexpected treat!

Hi Ladies! Thought I would fill you in on our anatomy scan yesterday! The most important thing is that the baby looked good - that is all that really matters - but overall the day was frustrating.
The office made an error in scheduling (one of many!!) and my appointment was cancelled 5 minutes before I was supposed to have it - cue many tears! Eventually I got in for a later appointment but the baby would NOT show its parts!! So while we were hoping to find out the gender, the results were inconclusive.
Now we are kind of at a loss for what to do...we could get an elective ultrasound but I am nervous about those results being wrong if the baby doesn't cooperate again and they make a "best guess." Also, I am hesitant to get my hopes up again only to be let down. We are taking some time to think about it.
These mix-ups at my doctors office have been plentiful and while I like the people there, they just don't seem to be organized. I'm on the fence about changing practices this late in the game but am worried that another mix-up could be a real problem - rescheduling an appointment isn't bad but what if they dropped the ball on a c-section or something serious?? This is supposed to be the best hospital in my area but I am having doubts. Has anyone switched practices at the halfway point? Am I making too big a deal out of this or is it indicative of a bigger problem? Lots to think about!! Again number one is healthy baby so I don't want to seem too melodramatic

@lmay820: A friend of mine switched at 20 weeks. It's totally okay in most cases and with most offices.

@mrsjd: I hope the antibiotics clear it up and you feel much better soon!
@lmay820: sounds frustrating! If you don't trust your doctor, it is never too late to switch. And so glad baby looks healthy!
pear / 1879 posts
@lmay820: During my last pregnancy, I switched practices at 27 weeks following a move. It was not a problem at all and I was very happy with how quickly I felt like the new practice caught up on my history and took good care of me. I would switch if you are having any concerns/doubts. Even if for nothing else besides seeing how another practice works and seeing if it's a better fit. Good luck! And I am so happy that all looked good at your anatomy scan!

So, on another topic, raise your hand if you haven't bought a single thing for your baby? *raises hand* I know I need to start preparing at this point, but I've had a really hard time feeling like it's safe to start buying stuff. I'm also going to have a shower with family and friends at some point so I will get some things. Also, at what point do people typically have their shower?
watermelon / 14467 posts
@mrsjd: I've got nothing. I just need to find out if it's a boy or a girl before I start buying new sheets and stuff. I also need to get big girl bed stuff for H.
grape / 83 posts
@mrsjd: I haven't really bought anything either. I'd rather wait to know if it's a boy or girl. I have received a few gender neutral small gifts but other than that we don't have anything. We did give away the furniture in the spare room that will now become the nursery!
pomegranate / 3350 posts
@mrsjd: ha I've been going through all the baby stuff and getting rid of as much as I can. Not sure what I should buy anyway. We will eventually move LO2 out of the nursery so he'll need a new bed and stuff for his new room but we're not quite there yet. We'll keep the baby in our room through the winter so no real rush yet!

@lmay820: I switched in my 3rd trimester. It's important to feel comfortable with your care provider. I switched because I wasn't comfortable with the doctor or the hospital.
It's totally okay to switch. It can be awkward with getting the medical records transferred but peace of mind is worth it.

@mrsjd: I found out recently that we were having a boy so bought a few random things. I could tell I was feeling better because I wanted to shop again. I still need to go through the baby clothes I have saved to see what the gaps are. Baby boy will be rocking a lot of pink since he has an older sister.
I'm currently researching car seats.
pomegranate / 3350 posts
@katsupgirl: good point about the car seat. We need to get a new car and car seats that can fit 3 across. I'm so annoyed that we need a new car but mine doesn't allow 3 car seats and DH drives a Corolla which apparently can fit the seats but not our stroller. Baby will get a new car so s/he will get hand-me-downs for everything else!

@skipra: we are also in the market for a new vehicle. Minivan time! We will probably test drive them during spring break. Exciting times!

@mrsjd: I got a used double stroller for a really good price. Chances are my nanny will also use it over the summer when she watches lo1 and his little friend. Thats how I decided it was OK to get something so big for the baby at this point.
Lo2 is the opposite season from lo1 so even if it's another boy I will need winter things in smaller sizes. Lo1 blew through sizes which was OK because he spent most of the summer is a cloth diaper and a t-shirt. I am not looking forward to a baby out growing 0-12 months in a winter...
I need an infant car seat, crib, mattress and some clothing and something for lo to sleep in in our room that's bigger then a Moses basket and smaller then the travel crib. Feels like a lot considering I still have everything from lo1. But we need doubles.
@skipra: I dream of getting a car. I never thought this day would come, I have been so happily car free so far, but the idea of trying to get two babies anywhere in the train makes me so tired. I just don't think it's in the cards. I am never leaving my neighborhood again.... Ever.

I bought something! Couldn't resist. Thought it was the cutest thing. Bought any cute baby stuff lately?

@katsupgirl: Oh my gosh that is so cute!! I love it! I haven't bought anything for this baby! I probably need to get on it.

@katsupgirl: That is precious! No, I still have buying paralysis for this babe.

Oddly enough this was the thing Zulily shipped the fastest and I don't really need it for months. @skipra: I'm so used to buying girl clothes. I'm trying to get used to boy stuff. @MrsKoala: @mrsjd: there's really no rush. I've been pulled in by the Zulily flash sales.
pomegranate / 3350 posts
@katsupgirl: I don't know how I would manage to dress a girl if we have. She would be a tomboy from day 1! You'll see dressing boys is pretty easy. You don't have nearly as much to choose from.

@katsupgirl: That's adorable!
Have not bought/organized a single thing. Still have not even gone through my maternity clothes from last time so that's up next.
Hoping everyone is doing well. I have been super sick this week and am finally (I hope) rounding the corner after an upper respiratory and sinus infection. It's been miserable and I finally went back to my primary care doctor yesterday who prescribed an antibiotic. I was hesitant about taking anything but hopefully this will help. The worst part has been the cough which has been out of control since Tuesday and the Robitusson my OB allows does nothing. Seriously nothing. I have spent the better part of the week dreaming of anything that will stop the cough enough to allow me to lie down and sleep but not sure what else besides the tea, honey, water-like medicine (!) will help. I am so ready to be able to have energy/breathe normally again!

@Periwinkle: colds while pregnant suck! I hope you feel better. I wish I had suggestions for you but I think you're doing all the right things. I've been sick as well. I had a stomach bug earlier in the week and it got better but came back last night. I ended up having to go in to L&D for an IV of fluid because I was so dehydrated. I just want to feel better finally.
pear / 1879 posts
@MrsKoala: Oh my goodness, I'm so sorry you were sick. How scary about your trip to the hospital... I hope the fluids helped a lot. How are you feeling today?
I think I may have finally rounded the corner. I took my Day 3 antibiotics and also finally slept last night thanks to an over-the-counter cough syrup (the acceptable kind) with an added antihistamine. I have been so hesitant to take anything but I seriously couldn't sleep and the doctor OK'd this medication. I slept SO well last night and finally feel a bit more life myself. It's just amazing how much sicker we can feel while pregnant. This sort of thing usually doesn't bother me but this was just making me miserable.

@MrsKoala: I hope you feel better soon. Glad it wasn't a prolonged hospital stay. @Periwinkle: it sucks to be sick but it is like 10 times worse when pregnant. Just the constant worry about taking medication is enough to make you go nuts.

@MrsKoala: that nasty stomach bug! Hope the fluids helped.
@Periwinkle: hope you are feeling better too!

@Periwinkle: @katsupgirl: @skipra: Thanks guys. I finally am feeling a little better today! Hope it lasts!
@Periwinkle: So glad you got a good night's sleep! It's so important to get quality rest. Hope you continue to feel better!

@katsupgirl: @skipra: @MrsKoala: Thanks, ladies! Finally back at work today and feeling so much more like myself. That was no joke! And the best part is that it's gorgeous outside today so I am looking forward to continuing to feel better... in the sunshine Off for my 16 week bloodwork at lunchtime so I will hopefully enjoy the weather while I'm out!

Checking in to say hi! We had the anatomy scan and all went well. For Team Green, it's not as exciting but it was still cool to see the baby moving like crazy in there. This baby is a hider. Every time the ultrasound tech moved the wand, this kid was trying to run away. It was adorable. I can't believe we're already at this point in this pregnancy where it's halfway! I can't wait for all of you to have your scan.
@mrsjd: Did you still have yours today? How'd it go?

More updates!
I saw my midwives today. Everything sounded good in there, HB was 152. Baby wiggled around a lot. I wasn't surprised, I have been feeling so much movement in the last week or so. Appointments for number two are so different. It's a lot of chatting and that's about it.
I have my anatomy scan on 5/4.... can't wait.

@MrsKoala: I did not! I had a work conflict so I rescheduled to Thursday. I'll update then, but I'm very nervous.

@MrsKoala: still exciting to see a healthy and active baby! Glad the scan went well!
@maddyz: yay for another great appointment!
@mrsjd: good luck Thurs!
@Mrsbells: hooray for ! Congratulations!
No big updates from me. Anatomy scan is next week. I just found out a friend is also due in September and we've both been so sick that we had to keep cancelling plans all winter so neitherof us knew about the other until yesterday, haha! She has 2 boys also and this time is expecting a girl! I love having friends with close due dates. I never really had that before.
squash / 13199 posts
@MrsKoala: @skipra: thanks!
Yeah it's nice to have friends that are due at the same time. You go through similar things together!
