@maddyz: hope you are feeling better! Being sick while pregnant is the worst especially third trimester in the summer heat. Maybe you can try some low key bonding activities like reading books and snuggling during a movie.
@Periwinkle: yes I am up half the night sometimes! Last night I was so exhausted I crashed once both LO's were asleep and it was the first time in a week that I actually fell right back to sleep after my pee breaks. It was so much better with Unisom so you probably have that option too. A glass of milk helps me some night.
@Christy412: Thanks for that lunk and sorry you are dealing with it too. I think my case is very borderline/mild so I am grateful for that and trying not to worry about it.
Does anyone feel like the baby has dropped? This kid feels so low to me, almost like he's going to fall out if I sneeze! My sister said she felt the same with her third so maybe its normal? Ah and the head butts to the cervix are getting painful!
ETA we are just home from our vacation so I'll try to set up a FB group tomorrow uncle someone else wants to.

@skipra: Yes, this baby is so low. I took this pic yesterday, but with my shirt up you can actually see it pointing south. Baby movement in my hips is so uncomfortable.

@MrsKoala: So sorry that the magnesium didn't help with your migraines. I had also read that that was one of the things it's known for, but frustrating to know that it wasn't overly helpful. I hope you found something else that helped.

@skipra: Welcome back from your vacation! I hope you had a nice time and very glad to know you slept well :). I have definitely felt a shift in where Baby is, but it doesn't feel super low to me yet. I am getting nonstop movement lately which is so wonderful but also exhausting. Lots and lots of "rolling" movements which are also usually followed up with a snuggle in my ribs.
Thanks so much for starting up an FB group! That would be fun.
@avivoca: I know it can't be too comfy to have baby feeling that low, but you look great!

@Periwinkle: Thanks! The good sleep seems to be isolated to last night because I can't fall asleep again tonight. Ugh! It is especially hard to sleep when baby's having a party in there. No wonder you are exhausted!

@Periwinkle: I've been taking a magnesium supplement called calm. I started taking it because of my leg cramps which I think it's totally fixed. I have enjoyed it's other effects too. It's helped with sleeping and also constipation.
@skippa and @avivoca: I didn't know it was possible to have a baby this low and stay pregnant... His little head is smashing my hip joint on the right side and send shooting pain when I walk. I can only sleep on my left to help relieve pressure.
Dh and I went to a friend wedding this afternoon, it felt so bocce to dress up and hang out with grown-ups. That actually helped me feel better. I still have a bit of a cold, but getting out was lovely.

I spoke too soon! It's 3:30am and a dream I was in labor has me unable to fall asleep. Now I'm watching gymnastics!

@mrsjd: Hey, just checking in to make sure you are okay! I know there is tons of flooding in LA, I hope you and your family are safe!
clementine / 777 posts
@avivoca: Thanks for checking in! Our area has not been affected fortunately, but the surrounding areas have been hit hard. We have several friends with homes and businesses flooded in other areas in south Louisiana. It's truly crazy.

@skipra: No dropping here! My first never dropped so I don't anticipate this one will either. I almost don't want them to because I want to be sure that labor doesn't happen early (or earlier than August 27 at least!). Hope you had a great vacation!
nectarine / 2750 posts
@skipra: I don't know how to tell if the baby has dropped. People said this a lot the first time around and I don't know if it happened and I just don't really know what it means or if it never happened. It does feel low and I am feeling more pain in my pelvic area when I stand up to walk and stuff, but I'm also huge, so who knows?
nectarine / 2280 posts
@tlcbaby: @skipra: I think he might be lower but I don't really know either. I just know I feel like I have a 20 lb medicine ball strapped to my midsection everytime I try to roll over or get out of bed. Ugh! Thank goodness a person can't be pregnant forever.
I think I'm officially in panic mode. Yesterday I bought all the things! I will be 38 weeks on Friday. Is this real life! I'm ready to not be this huge but not ready for baby yet. So much to clean and arrange.
clementine / 777 posts
@MrsKoala: @tlcbaby: My little girl is still sitting pretty darn high. No dropping here. But I still managed to get up 3x to pee in the middle of the night. On the plus side I'm still sleeping pretty well and have very limited back/hip soreness. 37 weeks on Friday. At this point, just praying to continue to make it to 40 weeks and that my platelets go back up. Or at least stay stable.
@katsupgirl: Ah! You're getting so close!
nectarine / 2280 posts
@mrsjd: you too! They check your platelets at your weekly appointment?
cantaloupe / 6869 posts
@mrsjd: Glad you are still sleeping well! I can't believe 37 weeks is almost here. It's crazy. FX your platelet count is better!
@katsupgirl: I know exactly what you mean about being ready to not be huge anymore but not ready to have the actual baby yet. That is how I feel right now!
cantaloupe / 6869 posts
@mrsjd: Missed the update re: the flooding when I first posted. I'm so glad you are not affected but sad to hear that some of your friends are. I hope that the flood waters subside soon!
clementine / 777 posts
@katsupgirl: Yes, they will. I think we'll monitor every week now to see whether they stay stable.

@avivoca: Wow your belly is looking very low!
@tlcbaby: With my first I don't think I ever dropped. With my second one morning I woke up and my belly was noticeably lower - maybe a week or two before labor started. This time I have started getting a lot of painful movements on what feels like my cervix. It feels like I'm walking around getting a pap smear and I am not getting kicks up in the ribs much now and have no heartburn or anything. So I'm guessing that means baby has "dropped" but I'll see for sure at my next u/s later this week.
@mrsjd: Glad you are safe from the flooding and I really hope the rest of your friends and family get relief soon. Fingers crossed for you that your platelets cooperate!

So I pulled out the laptop to try and set up a group for us and this website keeps freezing on me. It's so annoying!!! Anyone else have issues with it? Anyway, I think I need to be fb friends with someone to start the group. I don't have gold so I don't think I can delete wall posts. Not sure the best way to go about this.
pomegranate / 3350 posts
@avivoca: I couldn't find you. I don't think I am searchable or I'd give my name. I'll try later tonight (I think your name is in my search history so no need to keep it up there)
nectarine / 2750 posts
@skipra: Well baby is definitely still in my ribs so maybe not!
@skipra: When I start groups I usually add my husband or sister and then just remove them after other people join.

Hi all Just a quick update to let you know that I tried the magnesium last night (called "Naturally Calm") and it was really good. I am not sure it had a huge effect on my sleep but it certainly made getting ready for bed a bit calmer.
@mrsjd: So glad to know that you are doing OK even with the crazy flooding. What a scary situation this has ben in your area. I hope your platelets go back up soon.
nectarine / 2750 posts
@Periwinkle: I love Natural Calm. I didn't use it for sleep, but with all my digestive issues in the beginning it was helpful. Maybe I should try it again for sleep!
cantaloupe / 6869 posts
@Periwinkle: So glad that it seems to have helped with the anxiety. I hope maybe the sleep will come as you continue to take it!
Ladies, I'm so irritable. My boss just asked me to give her a bunch of data for a committee that I'm not even on and that she doesn't even know that they want/need. I feel like she is just throwing busy work at me and it's my most stressful time of the year with my new students arriving next week. I cannot handle it.
pear / 1879 posts
@MrsKoala: I could have written your last post myself. I am sitting here in disgust/disbelief about the amount of new projects being thrown my way. Like, I know that I am in a new role and need to "prove myself," but how much can one person (pregnant woman, to boot!) do???? There are not enough hours in the day to get this all done. So what do I do? That's right, distract myself on HB for a few minutes.
I can commiserate with you Hang in there, mama.
watermelon / 14467 posts
@MrsKoala: I am right there with you. We have a freelance PR person who is trying to take my responsibilities away (I am the company PR person) and is doing things for events in Sept. when I will still be here! Her main role is to do PR for the large event that I am missing in Oct. I'm still waiting to hear from my boss what the heck is going on, because everyone is acting like I have one leg on the delivery table even though I'm not due for another 6.5 weeks.
I have two weeks of vacation left for the year, so I think I'm going to take five days off between now and my due date and then use the rest in my first week of leave before my STD kicks in.
cantaloupe / 6869 posts
@Periwinkle: Ugh exactly. Like people I'm done in 3 weeks. Stop piling stuff on! It's time for you to ease off. Sorry you are dealing with this as well.
@avivoca: Weird! If you can take time off, do it! I'm regretting that I'm not able to! I kind of wish I had asked to start my leave earlier.
nectarine / 2750 posts
@avivoca: You might as well take some time off if they are giving your work away anyway!
@MrsKoala: @Periwinkle: I'm sorry. You have enough going on!
I am mostly nervous because some of my contract work/clients depend on other people getting some things done first, and if they don't get it done in time or if I go into labor early, I may not be able to do my part right away. I really want to get all my work squared away before the baby gets here so I don't have anything hanging over my head for those first couple months.
watermelon / 14467 posts
@tlcbaby: That's my thought too. I'm so fed up right now. I'm pissed that they hired her anyway back when this shindig was supposed to happen in Sept, but she's taking my work and it's annoying.
pear / 1879 posts
@avivoca: ugh, just reading about your work drama now too. That's not cool at all. I think I would also feel very territorial about this person encroaching on my work while I was still there. I guess there's no happy middle ground here days. I would totally start taking some days here and there if you can.
pear / 1879 posts
@tlcbaby: I completely feel your pain. It's like a waiting game for some of the work I need to get done too.
Even though it is not my sole responsibility, I feel extremely stressed out by guaranteeing but my department is set before I go on leave. The problem is that the rest of my team is relatively new and have never done the work single-handed before. It's an adjustment for all of us, but it's been nice to do it together so far. So I am trying to plan as much as possible so that they can just follow instructions while I'm gone. I'm afraid, though, that it's all going to be hanging over my head even while I am on leave but there's going to be nothing I can do about it. I'm just going to have to come to terms with that and know that it is completely out of my control.
pear / 1879 posts
... and another tough night sleeping for me I guess I can't consider the Natural Calm as my sleep elixer quite yet! Maybe it was the novelty of it the first night?!
I have a work event tonight and just wrote an email, as much as it pained me, to tell my boss that I won't be in until later because I need to sleep this morning with working late tonight. I'm sure I won't hear the end of it (there's been very little sympathy of late) but I would fall over if I went in now.
I hope everyone else rested (or is still resting!) soundly. I feel like such a Debbie Downer of late on here with my sleep woes! Trying to get more positive.
nectarine / 2280 posts
@Periwinkle: bummer! I hope you find something that works. What is it with people and a lack of compassion sometimes! Hoping you get some sleep this AM.
pomegranate / 3350 posts
@avivoca: I finally dug out the laptop again and found you on FB. Just sent a friend request.
@Periwinkle: Ugh that is so hard. I was totally miserable Monday night from lack of sleep and DH forced a Unisom on me even though I stopped taking them. Total life saver! I could actually function yesterday. It is interesting about the magnesium though. I was taking it for migraines before getting pregnant and then I stopped because I wasn't sure if it was ok to take. Now that I've had another migraine I think I'll start taking it again. So thank you for the tip about it.
So sorry to hear about everyone's work woes. I hope in the next couple weeks things will slow down in preparation of maternity leave! And are some of us reaching full term - 38 weeks now? I can't wait to hear about our first September baby. Who is it going to be?!?
pear / 1879 posts
@katsupgirl: Seriously, compassion, people! Would you like to know that I sent my email, went back to sleep (successfully!) and was awoken an hour later with a work call? I had to get up and race in. Yeah...
@skipra: I know you probably didn't want to take the Unisom again but it sounds like it worked wonders for you. I will be happily taking one tonight! I am so glad you rested well
cantaloupe / 6869 posts
@Periwinkle: If Unisom didn't exist, I'd probably never sleep.
@skipra: I'm guessing first baby will not be me! I had my 36 week appointment today and for a sec, my MW thought baby was transverse but it turned out their head is just really high. Way higher than she expected. She also did a cervical check when she was checking head position and I'm completely closed. So I highly doubt I'll be having my baby any time soon (which I'm happy about!). I'll repost the due date list so we can see who's first in the month but I think Katsupgirl and MrsJD are the first due dates IIRC.
