@mrskansas: I'm honestly not sure. I think an er visit under my insurance is $150 or $200; not terrible, and might be worth it for the peace of mind of knowing one way or another. I don't know how much other things (ultrasound at the hospital) would be.

Thanks all! Home now, bleeding is def slowing. I feel kinda crampy at times, but super faint, and certainly not doubling me over like the nurse was describing.

Everything looks good! Baby was measuring 2 days behind but my doctor is keeping the date based on LMP. Heartbeat was 156. My next appointment is 3/8. It'll be my first trimester bloodwork and NT scan.

@annem1990:
I'll be doing the NIPT and an NT scan instead of IPS because of my previous loss.
I found doing IPS really reassuring because if anything was wrong I'd want to know.

@StrawberryBee: I would definitely follow up. Good to hear it's stopping.
@Boopers: congrats that's great news!
@lulu22: welcome! Congrats! Good luck navigating the uk health care system. I found it very confusing at times when I lived there.

HI everyone! I've been lurking on your board, my due date is Oct 1, but I may be having another c-section and end up being a September mama as I'm right on the line. DI you ladies mind if I join your group?

Posted on my other thread:
Well, the good news is my office called back and are writing me a prescription for an ultrasound! Bad news is I can't call to schedule until tomorrow because my office is booked through next week and the main phone line is closed now. Hoping they can see me soon 🤞

@lulu22: congrats and welcome! I can't even figure out this country's health system; I hope the U.K. is less complex.
@sugarbee: welcome, and of course you can join in!

@Banana330: Not that it's a big deal....
Just looked at the info I got today, and it said my due date was Sept. 19. According to the measurement I'm two days behind (which I figured since I have 31 day cycles) so I figured Sept. 21. Dr is going by my LMP so I guess that changes it yet again. Sorry! Sept. 19 it is

@Banana330: IPS I believe. They said it was blood work and detailed ultrasound.
@lulu22: Welcome!!
@StrawberryBee: Good luck tomorrow

@annem1990: it's my favourite ultrasound. The whole baby fits in the pic but it looks like a baby

@sugarbee: welcome. I've put you down for the 30th for now. I'm going to be a repeat csection too!

Update: ultrasound this Friday at 1:30. Didn't have any availability today and we're expecting snow tomorrow, so that was the earliest I could get. Very little showing on tp when I wipe, and no cramping as of yet, so I'm feeling hopeful.
Had a miserable night though; gagging, nausea, headache, very fitful sleep. Considering what it could have been though, I feel very grateful. Hoping to have good news to share on Friday!

How's everyone feeling these days? I didn't throw up yesterday which was an achievement and I thought maybe things were getting better but then I puked on the walk to the subway this morning. I'm almost 10 weeks now! getting impatient for my next scan and then being able to hear the heartbeat on the doppler. My midwife doesn't like to try until 13 weeks.

@StrawberryBee: fingers crossed! glad they could get you in so soon!

@Banana330: I'm sorry you've been so sick!! My nausea has been mostly at night, but no throwing up. The thought of eating meat or vegetables sound awful all the time. I'm hungry 24/7, but carbs and fat are all I can stomach. I'm hoping my taste for salads comes back soon!!
I've mostly just been feeling very out of control with weight gain. My midwife reassured me that this is the one time in your life I shouldn't worry, but I can't help but feel sad looking at the scale. I should have DH hide it somewhere. Ive been wearing leggings everyday because my jeans are already sooooo uncomfortable. Anyone else feeling this way? I guess since this is my first pregnancy it's hard to see that I will feel in control of my body again.
nectarine / 2317 posts
@annem1990: it's totally normal in first trimester to be up lots or even down some. Realistically until you're feeling better I wouldn't stress about it. You'll come to a point when you can eat better and the weight gain will level out. I gained 25lbs last pregnancy (and didn't lose the last 10) but most of that was in the 2nd trimester! I'm actually down a few now but I'm sure it will catch up to me soon. Hide the scale, and see if they do need to weigh you they can not tell you. Accept that you body is growing and changing!

@Banana330: Thanks for the encouragement
I think I'll go to a maternity store this weekend and get some pants that actually fit. I'm excited for my bump to pop so I can dress it up!
nectarine / 2317 posts
@annem1990: ya weirdly I barely had a bump until 30 weeks! i'm sure this time it will be earlier...and once you start wearing maternity pants you'll question why we don't wear them all the time!

@StrawberryBee: Good news!
@Banana330: I'm feeling pretty good, just queasy most mornings. I have been taking Unisom at night to deal with the insomnia, and that helps with the nausea in the AM. I might try skipping it tonight, since I have the morning off tomorrow. I want to see how I do unmedicated (with both sleep and nausea). Had a nasty headache last night though.
@annem1990: Regular pants are uncomfortable to me too, and I'm so early still! It's bloat for me, considering the embyro is the size of a blueberry. Plus I hate the feeling of a tight waistband against my belly. Hide that scale and don't worry. If your care provider is fine with what you are gaining, I wouldn't stress about that, since it is out of your control.
nectarine / 2530 posts
@Banana330: sorry you're still not feeling well
@annem1990: another vote for hiding the scale. I've started ditching the tighter pants in my closet, and wore my mat jeans one day. For me it's all about comfort.
@Bibliolove: hope the no unisom experiment goes well!

Thank you for the welcome ladies!
@annem1990: food aversions were my worst first trimester symptom last pregnancy and it's looking like it might be the same this time. Last pregnancy I couldn't eat a single vegetable for a full month. Carbs and fat are where it's at! But it did pass after the first trimester and I went back to eating normally. I put on a lot of weight (slightly more than what you are 'supposed' to) but I lost almost all of it within weeks of giving birth. How are you with fruit? I find tart fruits quite good for morning sickness - apples, mangoes, blueberries etc... applesauce was also a lifesaver for me last pregnancy. If you can eat fruit at least you will be getting most of the vitamins/minerals you are missing in the veg. Don't worry too much about it, there is quite a large study by Cornell that claims that food aversions and morning sickness are actually evolutionary and a type of "wellness insurance" for mother and baby. The whole point is apparently to prevent food poisoning - hence why you don't want to eat meat or vegetables! Supposedly cultures with very bland, carb based diets don't suffer from morning sickness, because there is no need.

So don't feel bad, just know your body is trying to protect itself and your baby. Just trust your body and give it what it needs.
@annem1990: @Bibliolove: I've been in my maternity jeans since week 7! I wore the belly band for about a day and then realised I'd missed the window! I find the under-belly jeans are quite good for early pregnancy and right through to postpartum. So much comfier than the unzipped jeans situation!

I had my second dating ultrasound and finnnnally have a real due date: September 15th.
Which lines up with when I am pretty sure I ovulated.
Next appointment is tomorrow to get referred to my OB and then next Friday for my NIPT test.

@lulu22: That's fascinating! It makes a lot of sense. I guess I heard of so many stories of women either losing weight or maintaining the first trimester, that when my body did the opposite it worried me. I just need to be grateful I have a good appetite and let my body do what it needs to do
No one in my life knows I am pregnant so it's so nice to be able to share things with you all!

I have my dr appt two weeks from today! It still feels like an eternity away and we are slowly telling close friends. I have mainly just been more tired than normal and my sleep isn't great. Some nausea here and there but nothing like my first pregnancy. I'm only 7 weeks though so I keep waiting for it to really hit!

2 more weeks til my first appointment too! The days drag by.
I was awake from 2:30-4:00 last night, definitely taking my Unisom tonight. I worked out today and am having a fruit smoothie now, so I feel pretty good regardless. Hope everyone has a good day~

@Bibliolove: ugh insomnia is the worst.
I'm struggling a bit with life this week. Work is crazy busy, DH is sick, our house is in shambles cause of the reno and I still can't enter the kitchen or cook anything without puking. Poor DH has taken on so much he's sick and really frustrated. I think we're going to have to tell my parents soon and get them to help us a bit more..
