@shopaholic: that's so great! She'll be walking before you know it!

Update on our shoe situation: I pulled out some old sandals and he can walk in them really well. I'm not sure if it is because they're already broken in or because his foot feel less restricted without socks but they are working!

@Mrs. High Heels: How do you like that age difference? If this pregnancy sticks, I think Xander and the new one will be 22 months apart.

@Baby Boy Mom: Glad to hear you're having some success with shoes! I just ordered some from See Kai Run, but haven't gotten them yet, so Xander continues to go shoeless.

@AprilFool: Wow, the party came together beautifully! That cake is incredible and I love all the different shades of pink in the chalkboard sign. So pretty!

@Adira: Ahhhhhh congratulations!!! How are you feeling??? Wishing you a happy 9 months!!!

We survived the birthday party yesterday! The weather was beautiful and it was so much fun. When I counted the final guest list, it was 32 people plus three dogs.We made the whole menu from scratch which was a lot of work (except for the cake which I got at a bakery, thank goodness). We served bbq ribs, pulled pork sandwiches, coleslaw, fruit salad, two kinds of baked macaroni and cheese, two kinds of corn bread, brownies, guacamole, sun dried tomato dip and sliced veggies. Phew- it was a lot of cooking and CLEANING! But, my mom and MIL helped a ton which was amazing. Why did I think it would be a good idea to serve bbq ribs to 30 people in my new home? Everything was a MESS! But, my big Italian family got a kick out of it b/c it was different than our usual italian fare. I didn't get a single photo, but I know my dad took a bunch so I'll try to post some when he emails them to me.

Pete has been a sleeping disaster this week. I think the excitement of extra dogs and house guests, and the agony of molars coming in, has taken a toll. The good news is that the final guest left at 5pm today so for the first time in a week, we went through a normal and quiet bedtime routine and he fell asleep right away. I'm reallllly hoping that he'll sleep through the night again.

Tomorrow is his first full day at his new daycare. I know he'll be okay but I'm still a little anxious about it. I hope he loves it as much as his old place.

@Adira: @Mrs. High Heels: The cake was crazy awesome! That's why every one should have a baker friend

@Smurfette: I will happily share the leftovers! And 3 times.. oi! Be glad you were out. Poor R. These molars sound awful. How was date night? Did you get your cocktail? I drank a whole bottle of wine after the party last night. Oops!

@Silva: @Pumuckl: @QueensBee: Thanks. It was a labour of love

@QueensBee: Another successful party! That's why I am glad we didn't have it at home... less mess! You and @Smurfette: are scaring me with this molar talk. Good luck at the new day care.

@QueensBee: so glad your party was a success!!! I can't believe you cooked all that food. I know Pete is going to love his new school! I hope we both have good luck tonight!
@AprilFool: date night was good. I had one drink with dinner and then I started feeling awful again. But I was a trooper and went to a bar after. The other couple and DH were drinking. I finally said we have to go and we got home at 1230. So it was 1 before we got to bed and then I had to kick DH to the guest room cause he was snoring so bad. So that sucked. But it was fun even though I don't feel like DH and I got a lot of time together.

@shopaholic: Steps are so exciting! She is going to be running around in no time.

@AprilFool: Great photos! I love that cake. It looks like an amazing party.

@Baby Boy Mom: Good to hear he was walking in the sandals! I wish it was warm enough here for some sandals.

@Smurfette: I hope she has a better night tonight. 3 wake ups is too much. Glad you had a good time out. I can't even remember the last time I was up that late and not because of a baby.

@QueensBee: Sounds like a great party. I can't believe you made all that food. Look forward to seeing pics. Pete is going to do great at his new school tomorrow!

We had another fun relaxing day at home. I weekends! I wish all the days could be this fun. Today he climbed to the third stair. I don't know why he won't keep going but before today he had only ever gone two.

@Smurfette: Oh no about the crankiness! I hope she slept better for her mama today. Glad you got to enjoy your date night! Sorry about the snoring though!

@QueensBee: Wow, your party sounds like so much fun. And soooo much delicious food! (It doesn't help it's lunch time here). Sorry to hear about the molar agony though

@AprilFool: Everyone should totally have a baker friend! Luckily for us my future SIL is a really talented baker albeit not a professional one.

@ALV91711: Great to hear you had a great day at home! I love me some chilled out family time!

We had a great weekend with my mum coming - so that involved LOTS of good food! It is seriously amazing what Little B is eating! On the flip side we were spending a lot of time at my grandmothers place and that is totally not baby proofed. That combined with an unlucky streak led to a massively bleeding lip on SAT and a scratch right in the corner of the eye on SUN... This morning he got his fingers stuck in a drawer... Luckily nothing bad happened but it made me feel like a TOTAL failure as a parent... I'm just glad he is in daycare and thus in a safe environment now!

  21. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@QueensBee: Thank you!!! I'm feeling good, though I'm not even four weeks yet, so I probably won't start feeling anything for a while, haha.

Sounds like your party went well!! You're crazy for having made all that food, but I bet your family really appreciated it!!

@Smurfette: Awww, sorry you weren't feeling great on your date night and then your husband was snoring! That happens with mine whenever he drinks too (and often when he doesn't)!

@ALV91711: He's close to being able to climb the stairs fully! Where are you when he's climbing? And I hear you on weekends - they're soooooo nice! And way too short.

@Pumuckl: Awww, poor baby! Xander's cut his lip before too, so I feel you! Luckily babies get over injuries like that pretty quickly!

  22. Pumuckl

    pomegranate / 3601 posts

@Adira: I'm sure glad they do! It was so much blood though! We were pretty scared at first and he was crying so badly...

  23. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Pumuckl: Yeah, it's crazy how much lips can bleed! Plus it doesn't help that they are squirmy and it's hard to apply pressure to help stop the bleeding!

  24. Pumuckl

    pomegranate / 3601 posts

@Adira: Yes! We totally just stopped applying pressure because it just made him even more furious... Luckily it stopped on its own!

  25. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@ALV91711: Glad that yall had a great weekend. Amazing how much you treasure them when you are working.
@Pumuckl: Poor guy!! R fell and scrapped her chin, cheek, and then some how fell face first into a drawer in the kitchen, hit right on the corner and it left a mark.
@Adira: I was annoyed DH drank so much. Esp. cause he was doing yard work, so he already breathed in so much pollen which would have made him snore alone.

  26. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: My husband almost always drinks too much when we're somewhere with drinking involved unless I have a big talk with him before he starts! Ugh, men!

    @sheskrafty: @travellingbee: @Mrs. Blue: Thank you!!!

@Mrs. Blue: haha, December was really the ONE month I would've preferred to avoid since BOTH my parents birthdays are already in December! BUT I wasn't willing to put of trying one month just to avoid it, so I'll embrace it and we'll see how it goes!

  36. ALV91711

    pomelo / 5621 posts

@Pumuckl: It is hard when they hurt themselves, but it doesn't make you a bad parent.

@Adira: Either myself of DH is behind him when he goes at the stairs. After he climbs a couple he will either try backing down or turn around and try to sit.

@blackbird: Everything looks great from the party!

  37. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@ALV91711: So weird! Maybe you should have of you go up to the top of the stairs to try to encourage him up while the other stays behind as a spotter??

I think Xander took to climbing stairs so quickly because he knew that Hubs was often at the top and he wanted to play with him instead of me, haha.

I have to share two cute things:
    1) I was singing Itsy Itsy Spider to R in the Car tonight and I look back and see that she moving her hands like she knew what to do. When we got home I got her email for the day that they did it at school today. So cool seeing her doing what she learned in school and getting things.
    2) when we walked in the front door, R walked right over to the French doors to the office looking for DH. And she looked back at me like where's Daddy? I said Daddy isn't here sweetie. She looked so sad but then went right to play. It is sad but it was so cute that she went right there looking for him.

  39. travellingbee

    hostess / papaya / 10219 posts

@Smurfette: Adorable. L moves his hands like "washed the spider out" every time I start singing it. That is the only motion he'll do.

@blackbird: that looks great! I'm glad it went well!

@Smurfette: she is such a smart kid! I'm impressed!

@Adira: we don't have any stairs in our apartment, but we were at a friends house a few weeks ago, and all of a sudden T just climbed the stairs. Like she'd been doing it her whole life. I was shocked! So amazing how they figure a stuff out.

T's party is this weekend. It's very low key, but I still have a bunch of projects to wrap up. I always get things 90% done and then they sit until the last minute.
We had a beautiful day today! the snow is still melting And the playground near our house is under water from it all, but we went to a different one. She can walk holding just one of my hands now. She will take a few steps if we stand her up and then move away from her. She doesn't really seem to like it, though. I should probably stop pushing her so she doesn't get freaked out!
