@Adira: Go Xander!! That is great that he is trying other food, even if he doesn't eat it.

Today Isaac got an apple and ate about half of it. He's never had one not cut up before and I was pretty impressed that he did that.

@Adira: progress is good. R likes to squeeze watermelon but not eat it.
    @ALV91711: impressive! R can't or won't bite them.

  3. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@ALV91711: @Smurfette: SUPPOSEDLY Hubs said he gave Xander some watermelon for dinner and he actually ate it and went "Mmmm!"

@ALV91711: Wow, he ate an apple??? I don't even think Xander would have a clue how to eat something hard like that!!

  4. ALV91711

    pomelo / 5621 posts

@Smurfette: @Adira: I had no idea he could do that. Usually I cut, peal and warm them up so they are soft. Guess I can stop that.

  5. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@ALV91711: Guess I should just try giving some to Xander and see what happens! How many teeth does Isaac have? Xander has 7, so I'm wondering if he needs more to be affective at eating something this hard?

  6. Pumuckl

@ALV91711: Wow, a whole apple. I haven't tried that with B yet. We hardly ever have some around so it might be a while until we'll try

We actually have another appointment in the outpatient clinic on Wednesday afternoon coming up because B's liver markers have in fact increase instead of decreased. So we'll talk to the professor again and see what she says. Very likely they'll want us to come in as in-patient though so they can run further tests... So not looking forward to that and poor B will probably have to have another blood draw. SUCKS! I just want this over with! Sorry for my pity party...

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Pumuckl: Oh man, I'm so sorry to hear that B's liver markers have increased. What a bummer!!! Poor baby. And having to have blood drawn at this age is so hard!! Especially when they make us help hold them down or whatever. I HATE it. I hope things get better for you guys soon.

@Adira: R can't eat them and she has her molars!
@Pumuckl: I am so sorry! That sucks.

@smurfette, YES what is with the poking and squeezing of food?! So weird.

@pumuckl, awww poor baby I hope he gets better soon.

Ahhhh!!! Daycare said that Xander ate some taco meat, the wrap, and corn today!!!! And tonight he actually ate carrots and some sausage!!!!

    @Adira: that is great!

R is officially a biter, this sucks

@Smurfette: Ugh, I saw your IG about that. That's such a bummer that she picked it up from that kid that was biting HER. I'm so sorry you have to deal with that. I hope it's something she stops doing soon!

@Smurfette: don't feel bad, I think it's pretty normal at this age, especially with all the teeth coming in!

I am going in for an orientation day at my new job tomorrow. I was a stressed out mess all day and yelled at my husband a million times, and then cried my eyes out tonight. I don't actually start my regular hours for a few more weeks, but this is definitely the first day of the end of my time as a SAHM. I'm feeling very sad about how much time has gone by and scared it will fly by even faster.
The only way through it is through it! I know we will all adjust. The anticipation is the worst part, right?

  15. ALV91711

    pomelo / 5621 posts

@Adira: Isaac has 8 teeth and one molar almost in. Xander is finally seeing how awesome real food is. Good to hear that he is trying new things.

@Pumuckl: Sorry to hear the markers are increasing. I feel so bad that he is going to have more tests and get blood drawn.

@Smurfette: That sucks majorly that she is a biter. I hope this is a phase that passes quickly.

@Silva: Hopefully the orientation goes well. It is hard to go back after so long and will take some adjusting but you will get through it.

We have the day at home tomorrow for Canada Day! I'm hoping the day is nice so we can go to the park in the afternoon and enjoy some festivities.

@Silva: Good luck today!!! And yes! Anticipation is definitely the worst part! It was soooooooo hard when I returned to work, but it just gets easier and easier! It helps that I like my job too, so I really hope you like your new job!

  17. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Silva: A friend who is a counselor commented on IG to not worry too! I guess I need to listen to you both!
Good luck today! and have fun! I agree anticipation is the hardest part. I hated leaving R at day care but I loved being back at work.

@Pumuckl: I'm so sorry to see that update. How stressful! I hope they don't have to keep him an in-patient for long and minimal blood draws.

@Adira: Wow he had quite the menu yesterday! Awesome!

@Smurfette: Ugh, I saw your IG post yesterday too. I also think it's totally normal at this age and I'm sure her very capable teachers will help her navigate through this phase at daycare.

@ALV91711: Happy Canada Day! Hope you are enjoying your day at home!

@Silva: I concur with others.... the anticipation is definitely the worst part! I hope having the day of orientation go smoothly will put your mind at ease.

Small updates for us this week...

    1. P hasn't said "mama" since my last post a few days ago. Waaah! We'll keep trying.
    2. He does say "O's" when eating cheerios, "effff!" when the dog barks (an attempt at woof!), and "ooooo" when we look at pictures of cows (an attempt at moo!) That's all new this week!
    3. Pete's become obsessed with books, especially ones about cars and trucks. We checked out some new books from the library and he insists that we read "Truck Duck," "Big Wheels" and "The Little Blue Truck" approximately 300x a day.
    4. 15 month check up is next Monday. I can't wait to see how big he is!
    5. We finally bought a water table and a baby sprinkler to keep us cool on these hot summer days. He's a fan of the table but a little nervous around the sprinkler. I have to keep the water pressure on super low for him to even consider it!

Hope everyone is having a great week! Off to watch the USA soccer game!!

  20. Mrs. Blue

    blogger / pomelo / 5361 posts

@Smurfette: I know it sucks. Boy, do I know. Hang in there until they grow out of this delightful stage!

@QueensBee: That's awesome that P is working on some words! Our ped told us it's pretty normal at this age to have the words not really be super good yet. We were telling him that they try to say "dog" but it's more just "Dah." He thought that was normal and gave them credit for having that as a word. Also, the boys are the same way about the sprinkler or water hose. They really WANT to love it, but are still a little intimidated by it if they get in the stream of water for too long.

  21. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@QueensBee: that is awesome! Amazing how much they can change so fast!
R doesn't like our sprinklers. She cried when I put her in the pool on Sunday till I stood in it and splashed around, then she loved it. Maybe run through the sprinklers.

@Adira: So glad to hear that Xander's eating more whole foods now, and saying "hi!" - so cute!

@ALV91711: Haha, J likes to eat apples whole too! Daycare actually tells us that he won't eat his food if they try to cut it up bite-sized for him (they were doing that initially since he's younger than the rest), so now they just give things to him whole - whole pizza, whole nuggets, etc.

@Pumuckl: Poor B! I wonder what's causing his liver markers to go up... do they have any idea?

@Smurfette: Aw I saw your IG daycare note. Hopefully it's just a one-off! Could be related to teething? It's pretty normal at this age for them to bite... I think it's a bigger concern if they're older.

@Silva: Hang in there, the anticipation is often harder than reality! It does get easier by the day as you adjust to your new normal. You might find yourself really enjoying the ability to drink coffee in silence, or going to the bathroom in peace.

@QueensBee: Great update - sounds like he's learning quite a bit!

You were all right, thanks for the support. Today was actually pretty easy. It was nice to have intelligent things to say. I also got to meet briefly with a future client, and she reminded me of why I love what I do.
Unfortunately T only napped for 20 minutes....so....6:00 bedtime for her.

Is it crazy hot anywhere else? Its over 90 degrees INSIDE my apartment right now. We are so lucky we finally got and installed an AC unit for T's room- there is no way she would have been able to sleep in her room tonight without it.

  24. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@QueensBee: Wow! So many new sounds!!! That's exciting!! I think the only "sounds" like that that Xander makes is car noises, haha. I don't think he mimics any animals yet.

@Silva: Glad to hear your day went well!!! And Xander took a while to sleep well at daycare too, so maybe it'll just take some time for T to adjust to you not being there. And Xander ALSO went to bed at 6:00 today! And yes, it's HOT here too! We've got the A/C going on inside though so we're comfortable!

@Mrs. High Heels: it could be teething. She is chewing on everything. She didn't bite today. I told her teacher that I ordered some books to work on it at home and she seemed impressed!

@Silva: yay! Glad that it went great! She will learn to nap there! Some days are better then others. It is so HOT and HUMIDY here. I can't imagine not having ac!
R had a bad nap but is still just rolling around her crib. She takes forever to go asleep these days.

@Silva: So glad your first day went well!!!
It's hot year-round here! We've been running the AC for months now. We sure could use some rain... That's good you at least have AC in her room!

@Silva: I'm so happy you enjoyed your orientation day! There will be days you love working and days when you hate it, but I think you truly have the best of both worlds by working a few days a week at a job you enjoy!

As far as the heat, yes, it's been pretty warm here although not unmanageable. I'd been trying to cut back on our electric bill and save energy so we hadn't installed any air conditioners yet. To stay cool, I'd been putting Pete to sleep in just his diaper.

Well earlier this week, Pete learned to unlatch and pull off his diaper.

(You can probably guess where this is going...)
After today's nap, I walked into his room and found his diaper thrown on the floor and a big pile of poop in his crib!

I installed the a/c right away. Screw the energy bill! He's sleeping in full pjs again as I do not want to have to deal with poop in the crib anytime soon!

@Mrs. Blue: Good to know that they get credit for attempts at words. And I hope they all realize how awesomely fun the sprinklers are soon! Also, total side note, my good friend had identical twin boys yesterday and they remind me of your sweet little ones.

@Smurfette: Glad she had a successful day at daycare today! Hope the books help too!

Hot and fun afternoon at the park. It was crazy busy so the only activity we did was blowing bubbles. They had tubs of bubbles with so many different wands, Isaac had a blast. Then we went shopping to cool off and I bought him his first pair of hard sole sandals. It was kind of funny watching him learn to walk in them, slowed him down just a bit.

@QueensBee: I hope he says mama soon! I can't believe he took off his diaper! Yuck! We've been putting Isaac to bed in a onesie on warm nights to avoid this from happening.

@Silva: Glad your day went good. Naps will get better with time.

  36. Smurfette

@ALV91711: What is it with kids and bubbles?!?! R took a couple days to get use to hard soled. But I feel much better with her in them on the playground at day care!

@Mrs. High Heels: @Smurfette: @QueensBee: Considering who's experienced poop fun so far, it seems like I might be next since I have a BOY!

Ugh, we had another incident already this morning. He pulled off his shorts AND diaper immediately after he pooped and it got all over his playroom. I was in the kitchen pouring a glass of water for like 2 minutes when it all went down.

I guess it's back to onesies? Or time to potty train?

Why is this the one area my kid is "advanced" in???!

  39. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@QueensBee: Oh gross, haha. I'd probably duct tape that diaper on him!!!

  40. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@QueensBee: Gross!! You could try and potty train. Maybe he is ripping it off cause he hates the feeling of the poop on him.
